About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Gwen R0 contributionsMust do activity for horse lovers! While visiting Peru, I knew I had to experience a Peruvian Paso Ranch since my father raised show Peruvians when I was growing up in Texas. I’ve always loved their smooth ride and unique gait, and Gabriel’s ranch did not disappoint. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that Gabriel genuinely cares for his horses—not just as a business, but with real dedication. Unlike many tourist operations where horses are just saddled up waiting for the next rider, his horses are well cared for, well-trained, and incredibly well-behaved. He takes the time to nurture their natural spirit while maintaining the elegance and discipline of purebred Peruvian Pasos. The ride itself was fantastic, but what made it even more special was the cultural and historical insight Gabriel shared along the way. I learned so much about the Incas and the surrounding area, making the experience both fun and educational. And with 100 acres of stunning landscapes, his ranch is a breathtaking place to explore on horseback. Hands down, Gabriel’s ranch was my favorite part of Cusco. Being back in the saddle again on such incredible horses was an unforgettable experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area—especially fellow horse lovers!Written March 18, 2025
- laurenlE56CX0 contributions11/10 would recommendWe took the trail with Gabriel (the third) himself. He explained to us that his family has owned this place for three generations (originally owned by Gabriel the first)! He did such a great job of explaining the history of the moon temple and other sites. The place is still family owned and you can tell they take amazing care of their horses. This is my favorite thing I’ve done in Cusco so far - I highly recommended this!! This is also suitable for all skill levels.Written March 15, 2025
- Charleigh C0 contributionsAmazing experienceAn amazing tour. Gabriel and his team are so great, and loved to answer our questions and tell us about the history of Cusco and the Inkas. Animals seemed very well cared for. Helmets provided. You get a great view of the mountains. The terrain is not just flat paths - sometimes a little bumpy but the horses are very calm. Good for beginners too. I recommend to anyone!Written February 25, 2025
- cmarchand9280 contributionsBest tour ever!We did the temple of the moon riding tour yesterday and it was the best tour ever! Gabriel was so informative and friendly he made the experience absolutely incredible. The horses were so well behaved and the tour was stunning, we definitely would not have seen these ruins and landmarks without this tour. Recommend 5/5!!!!Written February 24, 2025
- Jill C0 contributionsThis was a highlight of our stay in CuscoThis is a wonderful experience. Gabriel collected us from our hotel, it was a short drive to the ranch. We met our beautiful, calm, well kept horses. We had a fabulous ride through the breathtaking mountains, the scenery was spectacular, it was perfect. The horses were very well behaved. We went for a couple of short walks, away from the horses, to see beautiful Inca temples. We were also given a really cute little snack pack. This was an unforgettable morning for me. I highly recommend it !Written February 11, 2025

- 16sonjab0 contributionsHorseback adventureWe had a fabulous time on this tour. We toured historical sites, went into a cave, rode a path through the mountains and everyone had a great time despite varying horseback experience (including some with none). Don’t hesitate to do this tour!Written January 11, 2025
- luxuanl0 contributionsFantastic experience, relaxing and uniqueThis is a fantastic experience, especially for those seeking something less "touristy". Gabriel is an amazing guide and speaks perfect English. I was the only person on the tour for the afternoon I went, and Gabriel was still super thorough and patient and did not skip anything. The horses are beautiful, tall, clean, well-groomed. You can tell Gabriel's family really loves and cares for them. I highly recommend this tour to enjoy some relaxing time and get to know the local communities better.Written December 27, 2024
- natashalS8411GD0 contributionsThe Most Magical Experience!!I do not have enough words to describe how incredible this experience was! Gabriel was such a kind and informative guide. He picked my friend and I up from our hostel, gave us snacks and told us the most fascinating stories about all the places we visited. It’s obvious that the horses are so loved and the ranch is like one big family. The temple of the moon was magical and riding through the Chacan mountains was truly the highlight of our trip! Can’t recommend this enough, it’s a must for a trip to Cusco!Written December 20, 2024
- 793dilaras0 contributionsThe Most Special ExperienceI cannot say enough about how incredible this experience was. Gabriel (the owner of the ranch) picked us up himself, provided us with snacks for our journey and made sure we were comfortable and safe the entire time. My friend and I dreamed of horseback riding and to have the first time be in the Chaca Mountains and along the Temple of the Moon was unforgettable. The horses were happy, sweet and very well trained. Gabriel spoke perfect English and shared many interesting stories with us about the lands. To say the very least, this experience was truly MAGICAL. If you are in Cusco, you must visit Gabriel’s ranch.Written December 20, 2024
- hannahcO4734HH0 contributionsA lovely end to our tripThis activity was a lovely addition to our trip to Cusco. Gabriel guided us amazingly throughout the ride and was happy to answer any questions we had about the Inca culture and horses. You could tell Gabriel really loves his horses and that they were well looked after. The horses were very well behaved, knowing exactly what to do and where to go, so this activity is great for beginners as well as those who have ridden before.Written December 14, 2024

We had the best day ever with Gabriele and Sergio at the ranch. Watching the horses roam free over 100 aces was a delight to know they are free and looked after in-between the riding with tourists.
Gabriel picked us up at 9 am from our hotel, took us the ranch , where we got the horses ready. Then we went off for the day up into the landscape. Gabriele was so patient with us and helped us so much getting on and off the horses. The horses were calm and steady and we felt safe and looked after the entire time. My husband is nervous riding and Gabriele and Sergio ensured he was looked after and helped at all times.
.We explored many areas and took in breathtaking views along the way. Sergio the helper delighted us with information about herbal remedies from the land and his knowledge was beautiful of the Andean traditions. Gabriele shared many facts about the culture and scenery and between them it was a wonderful way to gain some real beauty about the way people live here in Peru.
They were so welcoming and made us feel very relaxed all day.
We rested the horse along the way while we shared lunch made by Gabriele's wife, which was delicious. I love the fact we rested the horses occasionally, it showed how much they were respected and looked after.
My luggage had not arrived in Cusco and Gabrielle brought spare rain macs for me in case i needed something, his kindness and thoughtfulness was a beautiful addition to the days riding. The weather was glorious and the sun shone and the smell of fresh eucalyptus was amazing as we rode through the forest and hillsides. West many communities and spectacular views. My altitude sickness faded completely and i felt very grounded and held the entire time.
It was like a good welcome to Peru day out. If you are feeling unsettled, ungrounded or wanting a shift in altitude sickness then this certainly helped that as well as having a wonderful day riding .
I highly recommend Gabriele's ranch, we came here 12 years ago and he welcomed us back like old friends. If you want a really lovely afternoon , day or longer seeing some incredible views and enjoy some great company then book with these people. You will be thoroughly looked after.
We spent the entire day up with Gabriele who brought us back to our hotel around 5pm, totally highly recommend.

Make the time for this amazing afternoon (or morning) with Gabriel on his ranch, with his beautiful horses and mind-blowing views. I am not a rider, but absolutely loved these hours which were the highlight on my time in Cuzco.
The booking was super easy, Gabriel himself picked us up right on time from our Cuzco hotel and the cultural and historical lesson started right there in his car. He is as knowledgeable about the Inca culture as he is about the land around the farm. And about horses, and particularly the Peruvian breed on his farm.
We particularly loved how his horses are treated - in a very ethical way compared to the very poor state of some of the horses in the surrounding farms. Gabriel's horses are free to roam around the farm, and are saddled only when guests arrive. Other horses in neighbouring farms are put in pens, already saddled and waiting for "clients". This is not right.
We absolutely loved this activity and thoroughly encourage you to go for it, even if you do not have horse riding experience.

We had the most beautiful experience with Gabrielle. His horses are all free roaming on his 100acre land . So once we got the hoses in and saddled up , we then walked off through breathtaking countryside and then appeared at the temple of the moon .
Here we rested the horses and walked around while Gabriel delighted us with his knowledge and passion of his homeland .
Then back on the horses and again up we went further through the landscape, through ancient villages and fields . It was such a wonderful day to share with my 12 friends .
We was looked after at all times and stopped again to enjoy some snacks provided for us by Gabriel . Then we visited a cave and then back on the horses along winding paths and through an eucalyptus forest.
Some of my friends had never ridden a horse and everyone was looked after and cared for . We had lots of helpers , including Sergio was a delight to be around . His knowledge of plants and trees along the way was both educational and fascinating .
Gabriel is a kind man with a deep passion for this land and his horses and this is greatly complimented by Sergio and his deep Andean Roots.
Thank you for a wonderful half day of riding and fun .
I highly recommend

Gabriel is incredibly passionate about his national history, the history of the local area and HORSES!
The entire tour, Gabriel displayed his extensive knowledge of the local area, history of the Incas and the history of Peru. Additionally, and a really useful touch was that he answered genuinely and cleared up many questions we had about about local attractions and avoiding scams. Great guy to go to at the beginning of your time in Cusco.
A stand out point was how passionate he is and how well his horses are looked after. This is a very passionate local horse lover that seems to take people on tours because he enjoys it.
Very much recommend using Gabriel’s Ranch.

Great combination of horse riding, cultural information, and nature viewing.
Guide and his assistants were great. Made sure that everyone was comfortable on the ride.
Horses look to be in great shape. They had bigger horses for bigger people (i.e 6'3" and 240lb).
Ranch was only 15min drive from Cusco center. Great way to spend the morning.

So I booked a group tour and it actually ended up being private 1:1 with Gabriel as the others initially supposed to join were unwell!
Had a lovely few hours soaking in the beautiful landscape around us and history from Gabriel. The horses were very well cared for and it was clear that Gabriel had an immense passion for his job and the ranch. Little snack bag was delicious too, I even had leftovers to bring back :)

Gabriel was absolutely fantastic. He picked me up from my hotel personally, and gave me a tour over all kinds of terrain. He was full of knowledge about different Inca sites and even took me cave exploring upon request. 5/5.

Gabriel runs a beautiful ranch and put together an excellent tour of the archaeological sites around Cusco. My guide Grimaldo was wonderful as well. Gabriel’s wife even met us halfway with a homemade lunch. You will visit beautiful spots inaccessible by car. I can’t imagine another way of seeing Cusco.

I have taken the Mystic Tour 3x with Gabriel since 2019. I can’t say enough positive things about the trip! Door to door ground transportation service in a nice van with excellent driver, beautiful well-cared for horses, absolutely breath taking scenery, and in-depth knowledge and education about Incan culture and the local environment.
