- nereafacundo0 contributionsThank you Pepe (and Celso!)I took part on the 4 day Inka Trail Hike with Trexperience to celebrate my 17th birthday and the team made it an unforgettable experience. Pepe was a remarcable tour leader. He is VERY knowleadgeable in all matters related to the trail, the Incas, the history of Peru... and his english level was surprisingly good as well. The team of porters and chefs made our trip so much more easy and confortable. The meals were outstanding and they kept outdoing themselves with the menu. We even had birthday cake! I will always remember the awesome time I had turning 27 in the Inka Trail and how much better the experience was thank you to Pepe and the team. I am eternally grateful!Written January 17, 2025

He communicated everything with us, and even came to our hotel to check with us when we were having problems with cell phone communications. He was very knowledgeable about everything. He guided us through all the best photo opportunities. He had old photos to help us learn the history of what we were seeing. He knew about architectural things we would have never noticed ourselves. We learned so much and he was so helpful. He did a great job and we would recommend him to anyone. Even recommended the best restaurant afterwards and it was some of the best food we had during our visit. Overall a wonderful person and very knowledgeable and thoughtful guide. Absolutely cool, once in a lifetime experience - walking the inca trail on the 2 day tour by TreXperience with our person guide: MAURO! He was such a cool guide, explaining us a lot about the nature on the path, history of the Incas and Quechas, their buildings, Latin American and especially Peruvian history - AMAZING. Also driving in the train was superb experience. Seeing Machu Picchu when coming through the Sungate after the whole day walking on the Inca trail: unbelievable cool! Yes, it was relatively expensive, however, it was all organised perfectly and everything was of excellent service, can deeply recommend this as long as Machu Picchu can still be visited!

Dear s_wittmann9229339,
Thank you so much for such a wonderful review, hope you are doing well during these difficult times. Peru is still badly affected by COVID 19, Cusco under quarantine till the end of this month and Mauro is Cusco with the family since tourism has stopped
Soon we will be back again on the tours as we are expecting travelers after this October in Machu Picchu after almost 7 months.
Thank you again for your feedback, we wish you the best in everything and hope to see you someday back again in Peru.

During a local strike, the agency made an impossible trip possible, when all other agencies canceled
Apr 2022 • Couples
We went with TreXperience on the two-day Inca Trail incl. Machu Picchu.
Unfortunately in the time of the trip, local farmers declared a strike for 2 days and closed all ways from and to Cusco as well as they prohibited the train to leave to Aguas Calientes (here is the starting point to Machu Picchu trip).
Our agency reacted very fast and transported us to Aguas Calientes a day before, rebooked the train, found a guide who went with us one day sooner so that we can do our trip as planned. Like 90% of agencies canceled the trip and tourists had to stay 2 days in Cusco doing nothing or because of thight schedule missed Machu Picchu. Other few agencies took the tourists to Ollantayambo, a place from which you took a train to Machu Picchu. But because the train didn't leave, their trips were also canceled.
We were very lucky that our agency thought about all possible scenarios and reacted quickly.
The same happened on the way back. When the agency found out from their local sources that the train will still not leave the stations, they immediately found another way how to get us from Aguas Calientes back to Cusco, so that we don't have to stay there and pay for an additional night in hotel. Really really amazing 🤩
What I would recommend all tourists - if you travel with any agency, but they don't pick you up at your hotel, but you meet with them at the Ollantayambo train station, go to the ticket sales office and let them print your tickets. Your agency have your tickets for sure, but the station and boarding to train is crazy, it's totally chaotic and if you don't find your agency on time, you will still have your tickets and can board the train. At the train sales office, they print you the tickets at no costs, they already have your name and personal details in the system.

I'm from Peru and have been to Machu Picchu every way you can possible make the trek. This last year, my husband and I decided to take our 14 and 16 yr old teens with us on the 2 day hike. It was perfect! Considering you have to acclimate in Cusco for two days prior, this shorter 2 day hike option really helps to keep your overall Peru trip efficient and fun.
Our tour guide Charly was FANTASTIC! He was young, fun and spoke great English and Spanish. He was super passionate about sharing the story of his people, the Incas.
The train is 1st class, the driver Elvis who takes you from you hotel to the train was also great in his newer 15 pass vehicle. Great value overall.
Just remember to pack light with the appropriate items and your passport!

I would give this trip 1,000 stars if possible! I completed the 2-day Inca trail with TreXperience in early July 2021, and everything about the trip was absolutely top-notch. I was given a prompt confirmation of my online booking, they arranged for me to have a hotel room with a wonderful view of the river in Aguas Calientes, they were mindful of my dietary restrictions, and all of the transportation bookings were exactly as advertised (panoramic train, pickup times, etc.). I also found the price to be very good for the service.
But best of all was my guide, José Luis, who is the best guide I've ever had on any trip anywhere. He seriously knows everything about everything: plants, animals, geology, so much history, culture, politics, economics. He pointd out tiny orchids I would never had noticed, showed me the best viewpoints and made sure I had a ton of photos, and seemed genuinely concerned that I had everything I needed (e.g., bathroom breaks, snacks, etc.). He's so enthusiastic about nature, his job as a guide, and Peru. He also speaks perfect English. When you meet him, you instantly feel like you've known him forever! I was the only one who signed up for the trip, so he was essentially my private guide. I felt like I was traveling with an old friend who also happened to be a Peru expert.
Lastly, for anyone thinking about visiting Peru, I will say that now is the time to go. I know the news seems scary about Covid in Peru, but when you're there you see that it's safe, everyone is masked everywhere, sanitation procedures are rigorous, and nearly everything is open again. And Machu Picchu and the Inca trail are so much less crowded than usual. My guide and I didn't see a single other group on the trail; we had the whole hike to ourselves.
I would most definitely book with TreXperience again, and would recommend them to close friends and family.

I’m a 28- year old from US solo traveling through Peru for context. I booked with Trexperience and didn’t know what to expect. I was really hoping to get a good guide because I love learning the ins and outs of new (pronounced: old) cultures.
Carlos was our guide, and he exceeded EVERY expectations. He shared a wealth of information about the Incas (with his 10 years of Peru tour experience) along the 2 day hike.
He shared information about Incan’s religious traditions, agricultural practices, architectural practices, and also his personal experiences (Carlos grew up in Ollataytambo - a town in Sacred Valley near Machu Picchu) as a native from a local town.
He managed the pace of our group well, and explained each stage of the hike in detail so everyone in the group felt safe through out the hike.
I was a relatively faster hike than other in the group (weird brag). The point is that he defined places for me to stop to rest and he stayed with the more patient hikers - this way every one was able to go at their own pace and still feel safe.
Carlos fielded our group’s barrage of questions with grace. And by the end of the trip I felt like I had a friend in Carlos! Next time I do a tour around Cusco, I’m requesting Carlos from Trexprience.
Much Gracias!!!

A truly wonderful experience and our guide Elisban made all the difference. He was extremely knowledgeable and experienced, but more importantly, he adjusted to our style. He focused the tour on what we were interested in and accommodated the speed we could hike and always prepared us for what was coming next.
If you go in the rainy season, definitely wear layers as it warmed up as we climbed higher. We started off with light rain, but as we climbed higher, the weather cleared, the son came out and by the time we got to Sun Gate we had a gorgeous view.
Would do it again and definitely recommend!

My wife and I highly recommend both this 2 day Inca Trail hike and the tour operator, TreXperience.
The hike: A solid day of hiking in our group of 6 to reach Machu Picchu. Visiting interesting ruins along the way. The hike was challenging but manageable as you navigated up and down the mountains and through the jungle. Breathtaking views as you enter Machu Picchu from above. Very few people as you enter Machu Picchu in the late afternoon when the crowds have left and early in the morning before they arrive.
The hotel: Situated in the beautiful town of Aguas Calientes, our hotel was modern and offered gorgeous views overlooking the river. Breakfast was excellent.
The guide: Miguel was excellent. Friendly, experienced, informative, passionate about the culture and history of the Incans, he made sure everyone in the group was taken care of and comfortable.
The tour company. Everything was really well organized starting from the pretrip meeting, the drivers, purchasing of bus and train tickets, hotel and restaurant reservations, storing of extra luggage, and ensuring our safe return to our hotels, we felt we were in good hands througout. Thanks Miguel and thank you TreXperience for a wonderful time.

The tour was very good. Traxperience has organised the tour very well and the tour guide has done a very good job.
The first day is a very nice tour on the trail in the andes mountains. There are beautiful plants and amazing views into the valleys. The waterfall gives the oppertunity to take lunch in a beautiful setting and the inka village in the mountain with the terrace farm plots is very well peserved and deserves time for exploration. At the end of the first day is the first view of Machu Picchu. To really enjoy it some fitness helps.
The second day is Machu Picchu. It is as impressive as it is on the pictures you see everywhere. Machu Picchu is surounded by mountains that provide the setting. There are many beautiful views first from above and then inside. The buildings and the stories behind all of the buildings like trade, vacation, military and religion are very interesting and have been very well explained by Maribel. There are serveral inka houses with traditional roves that have a very effective design. Ask for the natural materials and their purpose.
This tail is for everyone who likes a tour to machu picchu with a hotel room for the night.

Our two day hiking tour in Machu Picchu was an adventure that exceeded all expectations from start to finish. The journey was flawlessly organized and filled with awe- inspiring moments that we will remember forever. We had wonderful tour guides (Jose and Gilbert) who were very knowledgeable and set a realistic, hiking pace that included many stops and breaks along the way.
This tour really thinks through all of the details for you and makes for a seamless adventure. It includes pick up from your hotel, scenic train rides, meals, hotel accommodation in Aguas Calientes, and bus rides to and from Machu Picchu.
The hike itself was a perfect blend of challenging and rewarding. Our guide Jose, was incredibly knowledgeable sharing fascinating insights about the Inca civilization, and the natural wonders we encountered along the way.
Reaching the Sungate just in time for Sunset was a magical experience. The first glimpse of Machu Picchu was surreal and left us speechless. We spent the night in a comfortable accommodation eagerly anticipating the next day’s exploration.
We started early to catch the sunrise over Machu Picchu which was a site that words can hardly describe. Jose took us on an in-depth tour of Machu Picchu unraveling its mysteries and history with passion and expertise.
Overall, the two day hiking tour was impeccably organized from the pre-trip communication to the underground logistics. We highly recommend this to anyone seeking a combination of adventure, culture, and unforgettable memories. Machu Picchu is a destination that should be on everyone’s bucket list and this is the perfect way to experience its magic. Thank you for an incredible journey. We will cherish it forever!

Review René
We absolutely loved our Short Inca Trail adventure with TreXperience. It was such a special experience arriving to Machu Picchu like this. Everything went super smooth with the briefing meeting, pick up and drop off to the place where we were staying and throughout the journey, including taking the train and the buses to Aguas Calientes & Machu Picchu. Our guide René Sarayasi was outstanding, we could see his passion and experience with everything he explained to us. He took care of us and made sure we enjoyed the hike. As I got sick during the trip, he also ensured I was confortable by taking things a bit more slow, and helping us get to our accommodation in Cusco faster. The porters were friendly and super helpful, especially during our night of camping, they helped us have warm water to shower, since it was rainy and cold.
Overall an unforgettable experience, however the only improvement point for TreXperience is that the term “glamping” for the overnight stay is not an accurate one: the camping facilities were not maintained and dirty and there was only cold water. To fellow travelers we would recommend to take this camping option only during dry season - to be able to actually enjoy this - and opt for the cheaper and more convenient hotel option during rain season.
Hello, I would like to book this tour for June - can you please share how i book the tickets for Huayna Picchu Mountain and Montaña ?
Written January 2, 2025
Hi, do we go up to the highest platform near to the guardian house? Does the price include the round trips tickets for Vistadom? I will be traveling alone.

Did you ever figure out the answer to the guardian house question?

Does the tour include the sacred valley? What type of panaromic train will you provide?
Written October 15, 2023
Paul I is correct. The sacred valley is not included. The two day tour allows you to see Machu Picchu twice though you don’t get to explore it the first day. As Paul I mentioned, on the 1st day we took the train from Ollantaytambo to km 104 where we started our hike towards Machu Picchu”. It’s a steep hike that takes you to the Sun Gate overlooking the site. From there you decend into the site for some great photo opps but you don’t get to wander around and explore. You essentially get there at closing time. Once you’ve had your photo opp, you join everyone else who was at the site for the bus ride down the mountain to Agua Caliente. On the second day, you take the bus back up the mountain where you get to explore the site along one of several predetermined paths. The two day Inca Trail is an excellent way to see Machu Picchu, along with a couple of smaller sites, if you don’t have the time or inclination to do the four day trail. Just be aware that day one has a ton of stairs and is not an easy hike.

You’ll need to contact the tour company directly. I booked my own hotel as well and wasn’t charged a hotel fee. Have a great time!

Saludos cordiales
