About
For those who prefer to explore untouched terrain, we have created the Ultimate Choquequirao Trek. The trek to Choquekiraw navigates both the region's lush cloud forests and snowcapped Andean mountains. While Machu Picchu gets close to 5000 visitors a day, Choquequirao may see less than a dozen, making this place a truly unique and quite retreat. Choquekiraw has been nicknamed the 'Twin Sister of Machu Picchu' as the master Inca builders have anchored another huge city, made entirely of stone, in an impossible location overlooking one of the deepest canyons of Peru. Enjoy the peace and serenity of this majestic place while you still can: Choquequirao has been tipped to soon become one of Peru’s hottest tourist destinations HIGHLIGHTS Complimentary airport Pick up and drop off PACHAMANCA demonstration Enjoy our hot showers after a long day of the hike Learn and interact with our native Tour Guides 2% of the price you pay goes to support our Social Projects

Operator advertises "hot shower" which does not exist. We paid a premium for their service because of this.
Pace was exhausting getting up super early and then finishing at 2pm just so the crew could get their day done. We could have taken a more relaxed pace to actually enjoy.
The tipping is awful. The staff must be underpaid because tipping "envelope" was talked about daily. We were presented with multiple envelopes to fill with cash. A "recommended amount" of 6000 Sol (USD 1500) was provided which is equivalent to 75% of the total cost of the tour. We found this obscene along with the "envelope ceremony" we were pressured to participate in.
The guide was not the best, but we went at an off peak time so maybe not the A team.

Dear Jozsef T, Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review, your feedback is very important for us as it's an opportunity to improve our weak points. I took some time to see your case, also, we have sent an email to see the problems you had on the trail and we haven't got a reply. We are really sorry that you were not satisfied with our service, we always try our best to provide an excellent service, but sometimes you can not be perfect for all travelers. Please if you can give us more information by email, we will really appreciate it: Below are some answers: HOT SHOWERS: We always provide portable solar showers, these bags, you just need to fill up with water, put in the sun for about 1 hour and it's ready for a nice warm shower. Of course, this is camping and we don't have proper toilets, we don't have proper showers. We are the only company in the Inca Trail that provides portable solar showers, also we sent portable private toilets to every group. I have contacted the tour guide and asked what happened, he replied that most afternoons were raining, also you haven't requested to set it up. We apologize for not explaining this at the time of the briefing to request if you wanted showers, we will make sure this is explained in all our tours. WALKING DISTANCE: Campsites are assigned by the goverment, the number of hours, distance is basically estándar for all tour operators and the location of campsites are fixed. They are carefully chosen by experts working in the Inca Trail for years. Our porters, tour guides work also many years on this trail. Some days, you might arrive early at the campsite, other groups might arrive even in the dark. It's really difficult to know exactly how long will take for the group to arrive, depending on your condition, weather, speed. Our porters, lunchtime is always according to your speed, this means, the group will move at your speed. TIPPING: Tipping is always an awkward situation to talk about. We always sent tipping guidelines that could be from 5%, 10%, up to 15% to tip the tour guides if you are very pleased with your tour guide. Also, we have sent you prior the tour guidelines to tip the team of porters and chefs, the amount sent does not exceed the 120$ total for the whole crew. If a tour guide suggests that amount of cash (1500$), then, something is really wrong. Please if you can send an email explaining a bit more about this case would be more helpful for us. Even more, we suggest to all our Inca trail hikers always not to take large amounts of cash to the trek. we recommend taking around 400 soles (100.USD) per person as emergency money total including money for tips. PAYMENT TO PORTERS, CHEFS, TOUR GUIDES Tipping in Peru is not mandatory. Our staff has a proper salary, and we can assure you that our Inca trail staff is among the best paid, we provide them good working conditions, full equipment, insurance, and place to stay in Cusco and Ollantaytambo. Again, we are really sorry that we couldn't meet your expectations, we will investigate more about the tipping situation in your group. Hope you are still traveling in Peru, we wish you the best in everything you do. Best regards Carlos Coronel

Wow, what an amazing experience. I do think this is one of the best services offered because of the quality, thoughtfulness, and people - and it was a life changing experience for me. I felt equipped and welcomed not just to the journey, but to the rich history, land, plants, animals, culture and beautiful people in Peru. I learned more than I expected and have a greater appreciation for the trail, Quechua people, and for life in general.

Charly and his team of 5 porters guided us through a 5 day 4 night trek, and made sure we were safe, healthy, and happy the whole way through. The chef prepared authentic food and some of the best I’ve ever had in my life hands down. I don’t think I would want to see Machu Pichu with anyone else. Thank you Travel Experience for the once in a lifetime opportunity.

The TreXperience team went above and beyond to make this trip memorable. Every detail was consideratly planned and professionally executed by guide Joyce, chefs Leo and Margot, and Horseman Michael. Every meal was a highlight! Food was delicious, authentic, and plentiful! It was amazing to watch this team create gourmet food in backcountry camp settings. Guide Joyce was a perfect fit for our group. He ensured our safty while sharing a ton of knowledge about Peruvian and Inca culture. It was a rockstar team! Special thanks to Juan Carlos and Tom in Cusco for planning a once in a lifetime adventure!

We just finished the 5 day trek to the Choquequirao ruins (4 days trekking + 1 day at the ruins) with TreXperience. It was a fabulous trip. The views were incredible and since the only way to get to the ruins is by hiking, there were only a few dozen people there the day we toured them.

We are so glad that we chose TreXperience. Even though there were only 2 people (my and my husband) in our group, we still had a guide, chef, sous chef, and mule wrangler. We felt so spoiled. Our guide, Americo Pariguana Supa, was awesome. He was very kind and thoughtful as well as knew EVERYTHING about Peruvian history and current issues, Inca history, local plants, animals, birds, etc. As we hiked, Americo was always on the look-out for interesting things to point out to us. He also knew everything about the Choquequirao ruins. We learned so much from him. Our head chef, Vasillo, was also amazing. We ate better on our hike than during our entire 3 weeks in Peru. Every meal Vasillo made was delicious and a work of art.

Net, net, I highly recommend this hike and TreXperience. TreXperience communicated well before the hike, their prices were reasonable, the hike plan was well-detailed, and their equipment (tents, sleeping bags, etc) were in like-new condition. If you can get Americo as your guide and Vasillio as your chef, I think you will be just as happy as me and my husband were.

Choquequirao is definitely less known than Machu Picchu, but definitely worth a visit for everyone who wants to do a challenging hike and get to see amazing and beautiful Incan ruins without the mass of tourists like in Machu Picchu. Our guide Eloy was great, a funny guy with lots of knowledge about almost everything that has to do with the Incas. The food we got during our trip was amazing and all thanks to our cook Jaime for that, he made this trip even better because of that. The second day is definitely the hardest but with good acclimatisation shouldn’t be a problem, comparable to Salkantay trek, maybe slightly harder because of the temperature. Overall, a great experience and so worth it if you have the time for this hike 👍

In summer we were going on the Choquequirao trip where Elisban was our guide. During the four day trip he not only guided us very well but also explained the different sites precisely and answered all of our questions accurate. The hole trip was an amazing experience and we can only recommend the hole team.
