Best time in Cusco- great way to learn about Peruvian cuisine.
Jan 2021 • Couples
We had an amazing time with this class. We did it during COVID and while precautions were taken, it did not negatively impact the experience. Chef Jose was knowledgeable, attentive and made the class very enjoyable. We highly recommend taking this class.

Amazing Cooking Experience
Nov 2019
Being able to make and try specialties of Peru in an intimate setting. The history behind the meals, the description of the ingredients and the actual cooking and drink making made the experience whole!

Great Cooking + Learning Experience
Feb 2020
I often do cooking classes when I'm vacationing ion a country, and the Marcelo Batata course was among the most informative I've done, with the chef providing a detailed overview and history of the the dishes we prepared and Peruvian cuisine more broadly, including a discussion of many of the ingredients unique to Peru. Would definitely recommend!

Terrific cooking class where we learned not just about the foods of Peru but history, tradition and culture as well. Delicious food and came home with recipes as well!

Disappointed
We didn’t have as much fun as other reviewers. Maybe it depends on the chef. We had a woman who was humorless, dry and delivered like a lecture. No trip to the market which would have been more fun than the educational room. Plus she didn’t even send us the recipes afterwards. It cost more than other classes as well. However friends of ours had a different chef and really enjoyed it.

So Much Fun!
Jan 2020
Best time I had in Cusco! Alejandro was such a wonderful teacher and chef. Not only was this a cooking class, it was a history class in which you leave very knowledgeable about Peruvian cuisine. It is a rich history which I was really excited to learn about. And, I made my first ever ceviche and lomo saltado. So much fun!

AMAZING "No Chop" Cooking Class
Sep 2019
i've been to quite a few cooking classes. and while practice makes better, i'd prefer not to have someone else review proper knife skills and have us spend 30-40 minutes chopping vegetables up. this cooking class actually had a designated sous chef!

YOUR IN PERU! spending this time actually learning about how the culture, climate, and landscape intersect was something i didnt know i was missing from other classes. i learned a great deal about peruvian cuisine, history of people/styles, agriculture, etc. i did do the actually cooking of several appetisers, and a main dish, but didnt waste time chopping onions (again). Instead spend learning and focusing on unique COOKING techniquies (instead of chopping techniques).

absolutely worth every penny.

The best experience in Peru!
Jan 2020 • Family
This was an incredible experience and was my favorite thing we did in Peru. It is worth every penny. Jose was lively, educational, talented, and humorous and made the experience even more spectacular. We started with tasting a bunch of fruits native to Peru, made our own ceviche and pisco sours, and got to flambé for our main meal! It was a great way to explore Peru’s culture. I highly recommend!

Fun, informative, delicious!
Nov 2019 • Couples
Our cooking class with Chef Jose Luis was absolutely the most fun activity on our tour of Peru. We lucked out that our “group” class was only attended by my husband and me. The chef was engaging, funny, informative, really everything you’d want out of an afternoon...plus Pisco!

After a few days of informative, if dry, visits to museums filled with historical information, Chef Jose Luis Was a breath of fresh air. When he taught us about native Peruvian ingredients, he thoughtfully provided examples we could touch and smell. He is is also very funny and really interesting to talk to.

I would whole heartedly recommend this activity to friends and family. If you are looking for a culinary experience in Cusco, look no further!

P.S.: If you are worried about food safety and hygiene, Chef Jose Luis is a stickler for repeated hand washings. Additionally, his cocktail ice is made
From filtered water. It really put our mind (and stomachs) at ease!
