Amazing scenery, excellent guide and provisioning for an unforgettable trek
Aug 2021
Our group trip became a private trip as my wife and I were the only two to book the Salkantay Trek in late August 2021. Pandemic travel has it's unpleasantries (mask wearing, covid testing) but Valencia Travel made this trip amazing with their attention to detail, responsiveness and the best guide possible in Genrri! Our head chef Juandedios and assistant chef Juancarlos prepared incredible meals, and the horsemen and woman, Roy, Honorado and Melbi preformed their duties flawlessly. We thoroughly enjoyed each step of the spectacular scenery on the Salkantay Trek. Genrri is knowledgeable, but best of all kept in tune with our pace and needs throughout the experience.

Blown away

Couldn't believe how great the team was. Our guide, Alestan, got us to the sites at the perfect time every day. We beat the crowds and the clouds. We couldn't believe how great the chefs were. Unbelievably talented and we even through an extra kink into it by being Gluten Free.

Trip of a Lifetime !!
Aug 2018 • Friends
Words cannot express scenery, camaraderie, weather- overall most wonderful experience on this trip. One of the biggest reasons this got to be even more wonderful was the excellence we got from Valencia's staff right from the time they picked us from Cusco airport to when they dropped us back. Their guides, chefs, horsemen - each and everyone of them went above and beyond their roles to make this a comfortable and memorable trip. Guides- Aldo & Rene- were extraordinary, funny, considerate, knowledgeable. They made sure everyone was safe, comfortable and cared for, and provided interesting information about the history and culture of the Incas. The chef- always had variety of delicious and healthy meals. The horsemen - always willing and offering to help.
Highly recommend Valencia Travel!!

Beautiful experience, professional service!

Can't speak highly enough about my trek with Valencia. Most importantly, Oscar was our guide and he was the best guide we could have hoped for. Physically fit, an experienced mountaineer, highly educated with a seemingly unending knowledge of Peru and it's many cultural nuances, and a wonderful personality that made him a pleasure to spend time with.

Compared to the other trekking companies we saw on our 5 days spent on the Salkantay, we seemed to be getting the best experience by far. Smaller group, better food, great equipment. The food I can't emphasize enough; our chef Enrique and his assistant cook Daniel were stellar, pumping out 3 course meals 3x a day that never disappointed. They kept us well fed and hydrated throughout, while always making sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves.

Do not hesitate to book these guys, and request Oscar if you can. Especially if you're physically fit and looking to push yourself a bit. I'll be looking to book another trek with them next year. Can't wait!

Our guides were Aldo and Renee. Both fabulous...funny, courteous, helpful, friendly and went above and beyond their call of duty to make our trip enjoyable. The chef prepared very tasty food daily and managed dietary restrictions well. Highly recommend Valencia!!

I came to Peru alone but was always comfortable and taken care of once my plane arrive in Cusco. The Salkantay trek was amazing and the food very tasty and never in short supply. Machu Picchu was amazing though I wish I had done it first and then trekked as my feet were tired after the 4 day Salkantay trek. This was a once in a lifetime experience! I highly recommend experiencing it via Valencia Travel, very experienced and professional.

Stunning views of Salkantay and a fabulous guide
May 2018 • Couples
Walter was an outstanding guide on this trek.! He was professional, funny, excellent and pointing out things of interest based on each individual's interests, and highly knowledgable about Peruvian cultural, history, and flora and fauna.
The views of the mountains were stunning! I had been on this same route 6 years ago and unfortunately it has been discovered and the trek up to the pass is not the same pristine one that it was back then. But if you didn't know the difference you would still appreciate it for the spectacular scenery of the mountains and the tropical flora and fauna. This trek is for those who are in great physical shape, as there is a lot of altitude gain and loss through long days. Be sure to spend a few days in Cusco, or even Huaraz, to acclimate to the altitude. The food was outstanding and plentiful. I would highly recommend this trip, or any Valencia trip led by Walter!

5 Salkantay Trek (The greatest time of my life).
Feb 2018 • Friends
I don't think I even have the words to express how wonderful this company is. Let me begin by saying Alex is an incredible guide and person. After five days of an honestly laborious trek together, I feel like I walked away with a new friend. He not only guided us through the Peruvian Andes, but he also taught us about the mountains and the country's rich history. I proposed to my now fiance on this trip, and Alex helped me pick out the perfect spot and facilitated the entire thing! The food Valencia provides throughout the entire trip is incredible. We had the pleasure of having Juan De Dios and Walter as our chef and sous chef along the trek. I was amazed at how hard they worked and what kind-hearted guys the two of them were. At no point during my time in Peru did I feel unsafe or unprepared for any reason.

Bottom line, if you're looking for the adventure of a lifetime book with Valencia and If he's available request Alex as your guide!
