About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- P6744DZcindym0 contributionsTrip of a Lifetime- Excellent! We had a fantastic visit week-long visit to Cusco and the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu organized by Valentin’s Pachamama Journeys. We were a single couple, and Valentin was our tour guide for the entire trip. He was excellent to be with every moment – felt like a rekindled old friendship and we were warmly received everywhere we went as we interacted with so many of his lifelong friends and associates. We looked forward to waking up each morning to encounter our next day’s adventure. Every single detail was so well thought out, planned and organized. They (his son Kenny was our driver) arrived at our hotel every morning at the designated time [actually early] and dropped us off each afternoon after a most exhilarating and information-filled day of exploration and a deep dive into the local culture and history. We learned so much about the history of the Incas and were invited in to meet Valentins family firsthand at their ancestral home for a most outstanding lunch prepared just for us on their farm. Pachamama Journeys selected great hotels, restaurants, and accommodations. Our visit to the Sacred Valley will be a lifelong memory and we are so grateful for the experience made possible by Valentin’s Pachamama Journeys.Written September 17, 2024

- HH2040 contributionsThe best guides ever!!I'm stopping by here to just give a quick shout out about this fabulous tour operator in Peru. There's no point in looking any further, my family travels all over the world, and this is the best tour operator we have ever hired anywhere, bar none. He is better than any other tour guide we have EVER had. When booking our Cusco Journeys (1 week of our Peru vacation) I was looking through Viator and TripAdvisor for things to do in this area of the country and I discovered Pachamama Journeys (Valentin) and he has all five stars on all the websites I looked at. I did not find a single review that was under five stars so I felt pretty confident that we would have a good experience with him. Even though I generally like to book things myself I went ahead and booked with him because I had already figured out that Peru is a little bit more challenging to do on your own. This was the best decision I made about this trip. I have personal constraints regarding the timing of my days which he worked with me on, and we had a great experience of the Andes culture/nature and the Cusco area including Machu Picchu many of the other archaeological sites including the sacred Valley, the salt mines, and other areas around Cusco and even up to the Puno area. He booked our hotel for two of the Knights of our week and both of these hotels were 4* hotels, and all of his recommended restaurants were absolutely outstanding. This was by far the best food that we had in the country. I cannot recommend Valentine and pachamama Journeys enough. You should not travel to Cusco without getting him to guide trip IF you want it to be a fabulous experience. I contacted him and then he and I had a conversation on WhatsApp and we were able to build our entire itinerary for a 6-day trip including: Cusco by night & Planetarium visit Maras Sacred Valley Textiles & Lamas Macchu Picchu and Agua Caliente Cusco city and surrounding archeological sites Tour to PunoWritten August 11, 2024
- terryjohnb20240 contributionsTrip of a lifetimeValentin is super passionate about the country of Peru and loves the work his does. It shows. Everything was carefully planned for our journey throughout Cusco. He clearly explains what each step is to be taken. As he leads the group out, he has assistants at the back to ensure no one gets lost. You will be safe with Valentin’s company. There is no way we could’ve gotten to Machu Picchu without his help. It is a process but Valentin made it easy and seamless. He worked out the logistics with the train, the hotel, what to bring & leave, the bus to the entrance, tickets which have a timeframe, so the timing is extremely important. Then the walking tour was informative and fun. Valentin knows what he’s talking about and conveys the stories in a compelling way. And his assistants helped with an extra hike if you choose. As a bonus, Valentin set me up with fantastic guides in Puno and Arequipa. When you spend the money and time to get to another country, you don’t want to waste it on a bad experience. With Valentin, every moment was valued. And you definitely feel cared for. I would tell my friends that Valentin’s company is the only way to explore Peru.Written July 16, 2024

They all made this trip the best it could be and one of our campers told me they ruined him for backpacking forever. - cindyoU2890KJ0 contributionsValentin's Pachamama Journeys is the BEST tour company!Valentin's Pachamama Journeys is the company you should use for all your Peru excursions! They are an excellent company and we look forward to coming back for more adventures! Their guides in Cusco and on the Inca trail are very knowledgeable and helpful. The food is gourmet and mixes local and international flavors. I ate better on the Inca trail than I do at home! We walked the 4-day trail to Machu Picchu and added on Machu Picchu Mountain, Huayana Picchu, and Rainbow Mountain. Valentin's Pachamama Journeys gives the clients first class service.Written July 11, 2024
- JessiLG0 contributionsHighly Recommend!I picked this since I thought it be an easier tour for our first day in Lima, I really should have given us a day to acclimate. We all felt fine initially (having flown in 5 hours earlier), but within the first 30 minutes or so two of my three kids were not feeling well at all (about to pass out/get sick in the market). Valentin was very understanding and did what he could to help (using some remedies, helping us buy food and drinks, etc.). My husband ended up bring those two back to our place to rest (he helped with that as well) and myself and my youngest continued on. He took us around to the main squares and gave us a lot of information on the history as well as daily life and customs. He answered all of our questions and was great with my daughter (13). He then helped us find my husband so he could rejoin and took us for our pisco sour and chicha (probably the best we had) tasting at a restaurant with a really great view of the main square. We then met up with a group for the drive up to the planetarium. We really enjoyed our tour and the guides there were really great. We got to use three different telescopes to see all of the constellations. It was very cool, especially coming from the Northern Hemisphere. We then had our chicken dinner which was really good and we got to chat about the politics of Peru, family life, he gave us info and tips for our Inca Trail hike we were going to on (he worked on the trail for 20 years!), and had tips to help our other two to help them feel better. We also discussed his charity work to improve the education of the kids in the countryside. Overall, we had a really nice time and it was a great time to spend the evening and learn a lot about the region. We highly recommend Valentin and it was one of our favorite tours of the trip!Written July 10, 2024
- charliel3x0 contributionsSacred Valley and School Social Project TourOur family had a great time with Valentin last Tuesday on the Sacred Valley and School Social Project Tour. We started our day visiting the Salt Mines at Maras, then we went to the Moray archaeological site and we then spent our afternoon visiting a local school, started and supported by Valentin, and then having a freshly prepared lunch with the children. Lastly, we visited a local weaving community. As our children are ages 9-18, the school visit and lunch was the highlight of our trip. Our children loved interacting with the school children and they even got to practice a little bit of their Spanish. Our youngest son made a new football friend with Kenny, too! Valentin was extremely knowledgable about the Peruvian sites, and all of his team that we interacted with from his driver to the school teachers to the chefs at lunch were so kind and happy. We really enjoyed our trip that day, and we were happy that we could help support such a wonderful cause with his school. We highly recommend this tour when you are visiting Peru.Written June 28, 2024
- jimitrias0 contributionsEnlightened SoulValentin and the Pachamama team exceeded my expectations. I was not certain what was to come or what I would take away from this opportunity to explore Peru, but Valentin’s & Kenny’s extensive knowledge offered everything I didn’t know I needed. Their genuine, passionate delivery and expertise left my heart full, my soul enlightened, and my spirit craving a return trip. This team provided more than a guide for me and the group I was with. The Pachamama experience provided a sharing of their country’s history that could only come from a place of true pride. I have grown thirsty with desire to learn more about the people and culture of Peru. I owe that to the Pachamama experience.Written June 14, 2024
- Excursion580302427150 contributionsTruly the best guides I have ever had!I came to Peru on a Yoga retreat and Valentin's Pachamama Journey's was partnered with this retreat. Their professionalism and kindness throughout the trip was unmatched. It's hard to express my full gratitude for this experience, particularly with Pachamama Journey's. Valentin and Kenny spent everyday with our group greeting us with open arms, kind hearts, patience, and ready to teach the beauty of the culture. I was able to truly connect with the land, appreciate the culture, and absorb what Cusco, the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, and Rainbow Mountain had to offer because of them. They facilitated an experience that not only allowed us to see the wonders Peru has to offer but also offer a shift in perspective that I will carry back with me to the states. And for that, I am eternally grateful. I cannot recommend them enough!Written June 13, 2024

Valentine, with his extensive knowledge about Peru, is always ready to answer any question with humility and humor. When he's occupied with part of the group, Kenny seamlessly steps in to assist and Beto is an amazing driver who made us feel safe, even on the most challenging terrain. The journey exceeded all my expectations and was truly the icing on the mountain top! Thank you, Valentine and team, for revealing the abundant beauties of Peru.Written June 13, 2024
- jennifereY5977SI0 contributionsBest Guides Ever!I took a group of 17 to Peru for a yoga retreat. Valentin and his team were our guides. He took us to so many amazing places and was so knowledgeable about his country and people. We could ask any question about the history, the language, the rituals, the landscape, and he had the answer. It's obvious he loves his county and what he does, and it shows in the great care he took of us and the pride in sharing his home with us. I would definitely recommed using him and his tour group. Some of us want to come back and do more tours with him!Written June 13, 2024
- randycC2702YX0 contributionsValentin’s Pachumama tour reviewValentin and Kenny ran our tour personally and Beto drove. I believe in this case he worked through the international Yoga organization and I bet they’re glad to have him. His knowledge was bountiful his ability to communicate with everyone in the group was uncanny so we had a great week. Thanks, Valentin.Written June 12, 2024
- F9736VCmaryamm0 contributionsVisiting Peru with ValentinValentin is outstanding and he is great guide. He introduces you to a whole world of Peru and share his personal experiences. The lunch at the farm was the best, his knowledge of Peru is vast and you enjoy just being with him. He does the best job of giving a good spirit and good connection with the mother nature.Written June 12, 2024
- Rebecca W0 contributionsA profoundly moving introduction to PeruOur experience with Valentin was truly extraordinary. He always hit the right balance between education and entertainment, and was truly masterful in his ability to corral everyone in the group. We had several group members who had physical limitations due to age, illness, or altitude and he always went above and beyond to include everyone and provide an exceptional experience — even renting a motorbike to get someone to the top of Rainbow Mountain! This was definitely one of the most profound and moving travel experiences I’ve had. I encountered people and places that were brand new to me, and I learned so much. Thank you, Valentin, for sharing your beautiful home with us!Written June 12, 2024

We had a wonderful time with Herlin as our guide experiencing Cusco as a local. We went on the bus and to a market outside of the main city of Cusco. Herlin was very patient, since we had our 8 year old with us and helped us buy snacks for our trip to Puno the next day. He took us to a local restaurant where the food was delicious. I highly recommend this tour.

My wife and I had the most fantastic day exploring Cusco with Wilson as our guide. I started my day a little sick from the altitude, but Wilson was kind and patient. As I picked up my pace, Wilson took us to a large and exciting market outside of town where we were the only tourists. We sampled local fruits, veggies, drinks and learned so much about the food, market, and culture.
Wilson then brought us to a wonderful non tourist restaurant for authentic, delicious, and inexpensive peruvian lunch that we would have never found on our own.
We then went through another exciting market before going to the textile museum where we learned and appreciated so much about this dying functional art-form.
We booked this tour last minute because my altitude sickness prevented us from an eco tour. However, because we learned so much and had so much fun - I think we had a better day than the eco tour.
Thank you so much, Wilson!!

We recently traveled with a group of high school students to Cusco and had a great day with Valentin and his team visiting local markets and getting a taste for local foods and flavors. We happened to be in Cusco on Carnaval and we had a blast running around with them and celebrating with spray and water balloons. The team was welcoming, knowledgeable, and we love the service & community outreach that they do!
