          Machu Picchu day trip. Excellent!!
Our trip to Machu Picchu was part of our 7 day excursion that Oda organized for us. It was amazing!! She took care of every little detail including providing us with a delicious home cooked vegan lunch plus nutritious snacks that was carried by our guide all the way on the train that took us to Aguas Calientes. It is very hard to find vegan food there so having Oda take care of it all for us was a huge relief. Oda arranged for a very knowledgeable, fun and friendly English speaking guide , Juan Lazo to accompany us to Machu Picchu. Juan took care of all the tickets and timings so that we got to see Machu Picchu at a very relaxed pace. If you are a vegan or vegetarian I highly recommend you book this excursion with Oda. You will not regret it!

A week of unforgettable adventure in Peru!
I can not recommend Veggie Peru enough! Oda and Armando customized a tour for my mom and me (both vegan) that included all of the must-see sights in and around Cusco. Every detail was attended to and we could not have hoped for more. We ate so much delicious and healthy food at every meal! Oda and Armando truly care about animals and the environment - it's clear this is not just a business, but a heart felt life's work for two amazing, compassionate individuals. Thank you Veggie Peru for a once in a lifetime adventure!

Highly informed guide in beautiful Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley and Cusco
We can't say enough about how wonderful our time was with Oda, Armando and their wonderful staff. They really took the time to personalize our experience and to make it truly memorable. Their extensive knowledge and care shone through time and again. As vegans, it was so relaxing to be able to sit back and enjoy the day without worrying about the next meal! The food was well planned and simply delicious. We felt like we got a good sense of regional food as well as some breaks to enjoy more typical fare such as pizza and vegan sushi :) The tours were fabulous. Oda really knows her stuff and we learned so much. We highly recommend Vegetarian Peru Adventures with no reservations! It is sure to be an amazing and uplifting experience. You will be taken care of beyond measure.

          Daily tours
This was an incridible expereince. Seeing all of the sites (main and off the beaten path) and haviong a guide who was ablwe to answer questions and give a detailed history of all of the sites. This was truely an amazing and rich experience. In addition, the guide assisted with making sure all meals were vegan (for our specific diet) and made excellent recommendations for restaurants, shops, etc. Upon returning to Peru in the future I will definately be using Veg. Peru adventures again.

In-Depth and Inspiring Introduction to Peru!
Veggie Peru provided a very special experience for us, with a couple of mornings in Cusco and several day-long outings to amazing architectural sites and scenes of natural beauty, including Machu Picchu, of course--but so much more! Oda is a more than knowledgeable guide--she knows everything! And she and Armando were the perfect hosts when we stayed at their serene Andean Spirit Lodge. The delicious food they provided there, and arranged for elsewhere, made me feel right at home as a vegan.

          Trip Of A Lifetime!
Our Veggie Peru trip from Cusco to the Manu Rainforest was a wonderful and unforgettable experience. Travelling through the highlands and cloud forest then down into the tropical jungle meant that we got to see a diverse range of climates along with their unique plants and wildlife. The lodges we stayed in were really well chosen and very comfortable. Their locations were great, situated deep in the forest and the food was also excellent, varied and with extremely generous portions! Our guide Oda was so friendly, helpful and knowledgable about the areas we visited. I don't think we'd have seen a fraction of the things we did without her! It was great having Oda explain not only what the animals, birds and plants were but also how they survived in the forest. Oda's knowlege went beyond the flora and fauna too and covered the history, anthropology and languages of the areas we visited. Truly an invaluabl guide who made a great trip into one I'd easily call a trip of a lifetime. I really can't recommend it highly enough.

Inspiring and educational trip to the rain forest and cloud forest in Manu
My husband and I found Veggie Peru through a Google search and thought they sounded like an organisation tailor made for ourselves in terms of wildlife spotting, caring about the environment and catering with veggie food! We were not disappointed and would highly recommend them would definitely be return customers. The trip from Cusco was very well organised and was just for the two of us. Oda was a friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide with decades of experience in Manu and she is also an expert in Andean culture & history, so we learned a lot about Peru on the journey from Cusco too. Marco was a very skilled and friendly driver so we felt very safe on the rainforest tracks. Both the Tambo Paititi Lodge and the Amazonian Lodge were comfortable with en suite bathrooms and friendly staff who provided us with really tasty food and extremely generous portions! We spotted an impressive amount of wildlife and plants on the trails around the lodges including capybara, bats, monkeys, black caiman and lots of exotic birds. It was a wonderful experience and one I would happily do again.

          South India and Rajasthan Review
Since returning in late February from five incredibly enriching weeks traveling on a private trip with Oda in South India and Rajasthan, I have tried several times to set down in words a review of my experience. Each time however, words just seemed too inadequate to covey the richness and depth of my experience. I would stop trying and happily succumb to getting lost in memories and reminiscences about the diversity of the sights, sounds, smells, the food, the beauty of the land and the incredible spirituality and open heartedness of the people we met, and who so generously made room for us to share life's path for a bit on our journey. I believe I have made new friends who I already look forward not only to seeing again, but to having an opportunity to be involved in their committed efforts and community support programs; to once again experience the generosity of their warm welcome to share the path. I am deeply appreciative, and very grateful, for the time and effort that Oda invested in planning and organizing this travel experience. It was far more than a travel experience; it was a cultural involvement and participation. No matter how much time & effort I might have spent trying to put together a similar trip myself, I could never have come anywhere close to it. Oda has been visiting India at least once a year, often 2-3 times, for over 30 years. Oda has not only a deep knowledge and understanding of India; its cultures, religions, customs and traditions, but she has established friendships and relationships that she openly shares. This creates a very culturally authentic, responsible and sustainable travel and life experience that directly benefits the local, often underserved, people and communities. This was my second trip guided by Oda. My first experience with Vegetarian Peru Adventures was in 2016 when I participated in a 20 day small group trip to Peru guided by Oda and Armando. That too was a deeply moving involvement and participation with the history, culture and people of Peru. I am already planing a third cultural involvement guided by Oda, and dreaming of the fourth, fifth and beyond!

          A wonderful experience
We took a private tour with Veggie Peru in late October/early November 2018 to the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and other Inca (and pre and post Inca) sites, Cusco and Lake Titicaca. We are so glad we chose Veggie Peru rather than any other operator or trying to go independently. The whole tour was outstanding in every way. Oda and Armando have a deep knowledge of, and love and respect for, the area, its people and its culture. Oda is an outstanding campaigner for vegetarian and vegan food in an area where it's not always as straightforward as might appear. We were hugely grateful to her for guiding us on this, as well as giving us insights into the life and history of the region, pre and post conquest and contemporary, which we would probably have missed otherwise. We enjoyed visiting some of the local initiatives in which she is involved. All the accommodation throughout the tour was excellent. After an enjoyable last evening in Cusco, we returned to the City View flat, before going on to Puno and Lake Titicaca in the morning. We enjoyed our visit to Taquile island in Lake Titicaca, where we stayed with a local family. We were impressed by the way the people of Taquile - and other areas we visited - have struck a balance between welcoming visitors and preserving their way of life. Many thanks to all concerned for a most enjoyable experience.

Machu Picchu Inca Trail Vegan Catered Trek
Vegetarian Peru Adventures set us up with another company that would cater to vegans, taking the hassle and stress out of our hands. The company we got set up with was excellent and despite being the only two vegans in a large group of other trekkers, we felt very accommodated for. Armando and Oda were very quick to respond to emails and such, attended the pre-trek briefing with us and made sure to follow up with us after for feedback on our trip. They even provided free cookies during our stay in Cusco prior to the trek! Overall a useful company to use if you are travelling the area as a vegetarian or vegan.

          Excellent in Every Way
We have just returned from a week-long tour of the Sacred Valley, Cusco and Machu Picchu with Oda of Vegetarian Peru Adventures. We were nervous about heading to Peru with our need to eat with compassion, but Oda made sure that all of our food was vegan and safe. She either provided the food or made sure that we ate in appropriate restaurants. With that worry out of the way we were able to enjoy all of the beautiful Inca sites under Oda's knowledgable, insightful guidance. She seems to know everyone and everything about this fascinating area of Peru. We highly recommend this company!

Attention to detail and expert knowledge
Oda is a virtual encyclopedia of knowledge of the history, anthropology, archaeology, fauna and flora of Cuzco. Her long standing relationship with the region makes the experience for the traveler more intimate and real. Her attention to detail and concern for our comfort was exemplary--I would use VPA again in a heartbeat!

My Mum, sister and I visited Peru just after Christmas for a trip guided by Oda. We had such an amazing time in the most breathtaking places. We managed to fly over the Nasca lines, see Condors (and other spectacular wild life), squeeze in a day trip to Ollantaytambo, visit lesser known ruins and visit Machu Picchu.

When it came time to catch our train to Machu Picchu we got word that the river had risen over the railway tracks which forced us to go back to Cusco. We were very disheartened by this, especially my sister who had been looking forward to this the most. However, due to Oda and Armando visiting the offices at 4am the next morning we were able to get new tickets (free of charge)!!! They were able to arranged a trusted driver to come pick us up and we were exploring Machu Picchu in no time!!

Regarding the food, Oda made sure we always had something vegan and delicious to eat. The catering at their Spirit Lodge was especially unforgettable as were the hammocks were one could simply relax. The cats and dogs there added to the homey feel.

Overall, it was an unforgettable trip which would not have been nearly as successful without Oda and Armando’s guidance.

We worked with Oda Seedhouse of Vegetarian Peru on designing a package that fit our desired itinerary. She is extremely patient, responsive and flexible. She put together a package which included pickup and drop-off at Cusco Airport, 5 nights in her Andean Spirit Apartment spread over a 2 week period, two and a half day private tours of Cusco and surrounding areas with arrangement for a 4D/3N Inca Trail package in the middle of all this. During the 2.5 days of private tours, we saw a lot (Cusco Cathedrals, various Inca sites and the Sacred Valley, the Salinas de Maras Salt Flats as well as visiting some markets and an Alpaca store). She is also very flexible – after the Inca Trail, we wanted to cut the next full day’s tour short a bit since we were embarking on a 5D/4N tour of Manu rainforest the next day and wanted some more free time. She accommodated us and even took me to an electronics store since the adapter for my computer was not working and I was in desperate need to recharge my computer (it would have taken me several hours to find a place which sold this).

I eat a vegan diet, but my wife is mostly vegetarian. Not being familiar with Peru and the many different options, I was a bit anxious about finding places to honor my Vegan diet. Oda made sure I ate vegan on her tours and also suggested ‘safe’ restaurants where we could have dinner on our own. Her recommendations were great. Although the 4D/3N Inca Trail trek was with a mixed group of 16 people with a reputable partner tour company, she made sure that my vegan diet was honored. Other vegetarian diets were also honored.

The two apartments we stayed in (one for 4 nights and 1 for one night) were spacious, clean and comfortable. They were right next to each other, but only the one had access to the laundry. She provided breakfast items, such as muesli (with almond milk), bread, fruit, coffee and assortment of teas. She also stored our excess luggage for us when we went on the overnight tours.

Oda is of German origin but she’s been in Cusco for over 30 years and is extremely knowledgeable about Inca civilization and the different philosophies on how things evolved. She is very personable and perceptive. We also enjoyed meeting her partner Armando who is a Peruvian artist/sculpture. The personal driver (Faustino I believe) was also a very pleasant gentlemen. With her focus on our needs, her vast knowledge of the area, and her attention to detail, our stay and tours could not have gone better. Thanks, Oda!

We recently took a 10-day private tour with Veggie Peru Adventures to see the Sacred Valley area, Machupicchu, Cusco, and the Limatambo area. It was a wonderful tour that provided a detailed introduction to Peru for us. We loved the entire time we were with Veggie Peru Adventures. We feel that we learned so much about Peru's history, its culture and its people. Oda and Armando, we respect your deep knowledge of Peru and appreciated your willingness to answer our many questions. The private tour you provided for us was so much more than any other tour company offered us.

Oda, thank you for providing plant-based whole foods for us throughout our private tour. It was delicious! We appreciated you being our vegan advocate when we were eating at restaurants and when you ordered our picnic lunches for us. Getting the food we needed was initially our biggest worry in coming to Peru. You took that concern away, and we completely enjoyed the food you provided on the tour. The picnic lunches were delightful. We enjoyed all of them.

The City View Apartment was lovely and made our stay in Cusco even more enjoyable. The location is great. Also we appreciated having a washing machine accessible to wash our clothes. That was much nicer than having to take our clothes to a lavanderia.

The trip to Chonta to see the condors and the incredible views from the hiking path was probably the one day we most enjoyed. It was an incredible day. The time up on Machupicchu was very meaningful and also a highlight for us.

Thank you again for a fantastic trip! We highly recommend you to anyone who wants to truly see Peru and learn more of its history and culture.

I highly recommend Oda, Armando and their tour company for anyone - couples, single people and families with older children - who is looking for an authentic, adventurous, vegan- or vegetarian-based tour of Peru. We had the time of our lives with them. We visited Lima, Nazca, Cusco and Machu Picchu and were taken care with such love and attention. This is a VERY special company, and I cannot recommend them highly enough.

My husband and I scheduled a 12 day Christmas holiday in Peru with Vegetarian Peru Adventures.
Our itinerary included visiting ancient sites in the middle of Lima; Inca sites and city tours in Cusco; museum visits; the Ollantaytambo ceremonial site; Machu Picchu; visits to the warm springs of Cconoc; the Maras Salt Pans and the Moray agricultural terraces and 4 nights at the Andean Spirit Lodge over Christmas.
This was my second trip to Peru with Oda as my guide. I had on a previous trip to Peru been enriched by her extensive knowledge of Peruvian culture and history, and her joy in sharing it, and I was looking forward to my husband, who is a history buff, experiencing that.
However, my husband became very ill with altitude sickness and pneumonia on the 3rd day of our trip in Urubamba.

This focus of this review is on the highly skilled and knowledgeable care we received from Oda and Armando, and the expert assistance they had at the ready in the event of an emergency. Plans going sideways and illnesses during a treasured trip are things we tend to not want to think about, but it is in these clutch situations that a tour operator's years of experience of trip planning and guiding, and established working relationships with local supports can avert disaster.

Oda was very clear headed and immediately responsive. She was concerned, but very calm and reassuring. The physician she called came very quickly to our room and provided excellent immediate and follow up care.
My husband spent the remainder of the trip recovering, with the physician checking in on him more than once. Oda and Armando graciously made many accommodations and changes to our schedule and activities to assure that my husband and I both enjoyed ourselves.
Relaxing at the Andean Spirit Lodge for a few days, sitting by the fire in the evenings with kitties on his lap was pretty much what the doctor ordered.
Oda and Armando's care, support and hospitality were absolutely exemplary!

Our 5-day tour of the Cusco region was an amazing, one-of-a-kind experience. We went to Machu Picchu, many areas of the Sacred Valley, the highlands, and Cusco itself. The setting, of course, was stunning. But the joy of the trip was how beautifully it was mapped out. We did everything that we could possibly want to do in the region, but it was well-paced. Every day was rich with views and experience, and there was always something unexpected - something that we could not have done if we were just touring by ourselves. Once it was a picnic in the highlands with bird watching. Another time, it was discovering an amazing pottery studio tucked away. Then, it was an interesting Inca ruin where least expected.

And we couldn't say enough good things about our guide Oda. Her in-depth knowledge about the Incan culture and the Peru of today was incredible. She was easy going, fun, and always had a fascinating observation ready. She made the whole tour a very enriching and special experience. And a special shout-out to Marco, who drove us for many legs of our tour. He was kind, gracious, and knew how to drive those twisty roads in the Andes!

We had not taken a multi-day guided tour before and didn't quite know what to expect. I'd highly highly recommend Vegetarian Peru. We could never have seen as much without them. And it was true vacation, as we didn't have to worry about any logistics.

And the tour is great for vegetarian and non-vegetarians. I am a vegetarian, and my other two party members eat meat (beef, poultry, and fish). We all ate well - whether vegetarian or non-vegetarian meals.

We look forward to returning for another tour!

        PERU:

We had the adventure of a lifetime and Oda Seedhouse made it the perfect trip. The vegetarian meals, transportation and accommodations (including CITY VIEW APARTMENT in Cusco, where we could catch up on laundry and walk to the square, and The ANDEAN SPIRIT LODGE in the most peaceful and rejuvenating valley—both owned by Oda and her husband)could not have been better. The standard two week trip, included numerous Inca and pre-Inca ruins, historical Religious sites and other points of interest.

Oda knows and has a deep understanding of and care for the indigenous people. Everywhere we went she was greeted warmly and with great respect. She has helped a great many people there. Her depth of knowledge is incredible. She is fluent in English, Spanish and German.

We spent the majority of our time in Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. We enjoyed the variety of historical and cultural sites, as well as stunning scenery. Due to the fact that this was a private tour, we viewed a number of ruins and other sites that were off the beaten track. Many we had practically to ourselves.

In addition to the standard---tour, we added a five day extension to Puno and the island of Taquile on Lake Titicaca. The island is beautiful and our indigenous host family gracious. Their lives are very basic but they showed us extraordinary kindness and generosity. This was an eye opening experience for us, the take-away being that happiness isn't necessarily dependent on financial wealth.

We were with Oda for three weeks and there was never a problem that we had to deal with. She took care of all the details, big and small, so we could have a carefree adventure.

We are are both seniors and Oda was very sensitive to our needs and modified our day to day activities to fit our physical abilities. Well done!

Our driver, Marco was phenomenal at getting through the traffic in Cusco and in navigating the rough terrain we encountered in our other adventures. He was a kind, gentle person with great driving skills.

Armando, Oda's husband, accompanied us for part of the trip. He is trilingual, a great conversationalist and is very knowledgeable about Peru.

We looked forward to a Peru adventure for literally decades and, thanks to Oda and Vegetarian Peru Adventures, we had the Trip of a Lifetime! Thank You!

It was very sad during my acclimation days in Cusco to discover that I am among those not suited to high altitudes. (Experts have not determined what correlates with this; I am usually very healthy and exercise frequently). Although my contact with Oda in the days leading up to my booked Machupicchu tour was not extensive, she picked up on the clues and politely but firmly encouraged me to have some measurements taken. When this took place some hours later I was very unwell; it was imperative that I rush to a lower altitude. I could not possibly have taken care of arranging a flight myself due to language, the necessary speed, and the importance of local knowledge. Oda and Armando gave me their full attention and care, from arranging the medical examination and oxygen supplement, to my flight and carrying my bags. Despite the enormous disappointment of missing my tour, their care was so complete and capable that it put a peculiarly positive spin on a sad and serious situation. Despite my vulnerability, I was not fearful because wonderful Oda and Armando were at my side. Priceless!

Thank you so much for your review and we are very sorry that your experience of the Andes was blighted by your health. However, we are also glad that you soon felt better at sea level! All the best for you!

Ode Seedhouse is an anthropologist and linguist who speaks Spanish and Quecha, amongst other languages, with a wealth of guiding experience. Her first-hand knowledge and love of the people and their culture makes her the ideal guide. She led the vegetarian group I joined on a 3-week tour of Peru, including Ollantaytambo, the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, Cusco, Yoga Limatambo Guesthouse (which Oda and her husband Armando own) and Taquile Island on Lake Titicaca. Oda took great care to look after the needs of each member of our group on this wondrous adventure.
While I would certainly recommend day tours with Oda, I would even more strongly recommend more extensive travel with her to learn more about this amazing country and its people.
