- candicebT9453BE0 contributionsUnforgettable Experience with Gustavo!I had an amazing time! Gustavo was an exceptional guide. I was the only person on the tour, and he made me feel completely comfortable and safe throughout the entire experience. His deep knowledge of Peru’s history, combined with his practical expertise on-site, made the trip incredibly enriching—I learned so much thanks to him. Gracias Gustavo! The tour was perfectly organized, offering a great balance between authentic local experiences and more relaxed, tourist-friendly activities. I highly recommend it—100%!Written December 11, 2024
- timdX4517MZ0 contributionsInca Jungle Trail - Thanks Luis!First I want to thank Luis, our guide. We encountered a few other groups and guides along the way and it just highlighted how fortunate we were to have an informed and down to earth guide like Luis. This trip was perfect for our preference. If you are looking for a 4-day excursion that combines biking, hiking, and rafting along with some genuine local food experiences this is a great trip. If you are active and in relatively good shape this will be no problem. Come prepared with good, non-cotton clothes and expect some rain. One caveat is that this tour is in the jungle so expect weather and nature to be close to you (which I guess is self-explanatory). This includes a potentially foggy experience at Machu Pichu. We had excellent weather, but it is not guaranteed. It is also worth mentioning that the meals included we all very well organized by Luis. Here’s what you can expect: Biking downhill on the road on day one for approximately 40km followed by some lunch and an optional 1-hour rafting trip (worth it!) then finish with a short hike to a jungle accommodation. You’ll be staying in nature this night and eat a delicious dinner. Day 2 opens with an incredible breakfast and a coffee making course. This is the part of the trip that Luis began to introduce us to the connection that local tribes have with nature and a little history about Inca culture. This day consists of approximately 18km of beautiful hiking. The day finishes with an optional hot springs break and a final 40min hike to the accommodation with dinner Day 3 begins with an optional zip which we did not do. Then you have a 10km hike along some train tracks so it is flat hiking and finishes in Machu Pichu town. Here we had about four hours to enjoy the town before dinner. The last day is an early wake up and hike up to Machu Pichu. You will say goodbye to your guide and meet a new one at Machu Pichu to give a very detailed 3-hour tour of the site. The train and bus tickets are provided the night before and it will be up to you to get back to Cusco. This is a very easy trip and you don’t need to stress about not having a guide with you.Written December 11, 2024
- R7679LDalexandrac0 contributionsInca jungle trail novembre 24We loved this tour (inca jungle trail). Landscapes are beautiful, activities are great. Machu Picchu is a magical place! The guide, Gerson, was perfect. He took time, adapted to the different people in the group. He gave us autonomy while taking the time to explain things to us. We only regret the absence of water, which was not included in restaurant mealsWritten December 3, 2024
- R3388LGlouisd0 contributionsFour perfect days in Peru: How Luis made our inca trail adventure exceptionalLuis was an exceptional guide who made our 4-day experience truly unforgettable. The tour was fantastic, and Luis's deep knowledge of both Incan and Peruvian culture was impressive. Beyond the regular sightseeing, we enjoyed genuine cultural exchanges, and his passion for sharing information was evident throughout the journey. Machu Picchu was absolutely breathtaking. Each hiking trail offered unique and beautiful experiences, and most of the restaurants we visited served delicious local cuisine. The entire experience was worth every penny - you definitely get great value for your money! Luis's expertise and enthusiasm transformed what could have been a standard tour into an enriching cultural adventure. His genuine love for sharing Peru's heritage made all the difference. Highly recommended!Written December 2, 2024

There is a beautiful feeling of a personalised experience throughout the whole trip. Chaco (puma) and luis our guides were some of the best people I've met in my time in Peru. Their local knowledge is exactly what you need, if I could give this tour 6 stars i would.Written November 29, 2024
- 20catarinap0 contributionsGreat experienceGreat alternative tour for those who are looking for a light and budget friendly trekking experience towards Machu Picchu. We got to explore the jungle, learn about Inca history and local practices. Gustavo was a great guide, sharing really interesting pieces of information about plants, the sights and the region. I highly recommend the added adventures, I wasn't planning on doing the rafting, ziplining and the hot springs and they were super nice. I'm super happy with the experience, I didn't have a ticket to Machu Picchu and I was worried I wouldn't get it, but they made sure that I got to the ticket office on time and got the ticket at the ideal time.Written November 29, 2024

- P7760MGtobiash0 contributionsAmazing tour in the jungle of PeruThis trip was amazing. We didn’t have high expectation for the trip, because the price was so much lower than the rest of the tours, but it blew all our expectations. The way we got to se both the highland, cloud forrest and the mountains was incredible. Our guide, Luiz Armand, did so well. He’s a real inka man, and the way he showed us all the traditions of the Inkas, made the trip really special. We can highly recommend this trip to anyone, who wants to see Matchu Pitchu and the nature surrounding it.Written October 28, 2024

This was truly an amazing experience! Our guide Luis delivered personalized service and took care of all our needs on the trek. Luis completed an Inka sacrificial offering on the mountaintop! I did get a little altitude sickness and he offered to go to the pharmacy for medication which really helped me get back into the trek and feel well ;))). I have been to multiple countries and multiple treks and this is the one to do!!

This trip was way beyond the ordinary. It was a great experience we will remember for many years.
Our guide, Luis, was with us the whole time giving us information about where we were. He did a great job and I can tell he really went above and beyond to make sure we were happy.
The hiking, views and wildlife (LLAMAS AND ALPACA mostly) were fantastic.
We stayed at a different location each night.
In Huacahuasi, we stayed (camped outside) of a native Incan family and experienced a little bit of their amazing culture.
The second day started from Huacahuasi to Abra Ipsay pass 15,093’ elevation. We had a “Earth God” celebration with the cocoa leaves. We saw wild Chinchilla right befor the pass.
(We had been in Cusco 2 days prior to the trek so we had minimal issues with the high altitude.)
Later on the second day we ended up in Petacancha where we took a lift to our next resting spot Ollantambo.
The third day was more restful. We stayed at a private residence (modern,) and had a great sleep. The next day was more restful traveling. That morning, we toured the free ruins there then boarded the train to Aqua Calientes which is the “base camp” to get to Machu Picchu. Because of the attraction there are *a lot* of people there, still, everyone was friendly. We did some natural hot springs there then had dinner and went to bed to wake up early the next morning for our bus ride to Machu Picchu.
Our last day was Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu both were spectacular. Our friends, Jackie and Andrew got engaged at the summit of Huayna Picchu.

We absolutely adored everything about this tour: from the professionality and availablity of the organisers Zeneyda and Luis to the courtesy and knolwdge of our guide Rene' and the amazing food that Santo cooked for us during the 4 days trek.
During our adventure we followed a stunning path up and down the Andes and we came in contact with the locals who are very welcoming and absolutely beautiful in thier colourful dresses. We also got to see a lot of wild animals such as alpacas and llamas, birds and chinchillas.
The Lares trek itself is quite challenging during the first but especially the second day, mainly due to the altitude (on the second day we reached a mountain pick of 4200mt!), but it is doable if you are moderately fit, you don't need to be a hiking-freak!
Moreover, we could always trust our guide Rene' that, in addition to explaining a lot of very interesting historical and cultural facts during the whole duration of the trip, was always very careful and knew perfectly when we needed a rest without us having to ask for it.
The last two days are less demanding in terms of walks and the difficulty of the trek can be decided based on how you feel (and on the precious suggestions of your guide!).
The food was absolutely amazing and freshly cooked by our cook Santo who always preceeded us and reached the base camp in advance. We also felt very spoiled as the tents and our bigger rucksack were taken to the camp by the muleteers and the mules (bear in mind you can leave to them a maximum of 7kg of personal item per person, and anyhow, it's best to travel with as less weight as possible!)
We highly recomend this trek for all the beautiful landscapes you'll see, for the spotless organisation and for the whole experience that we will alway cherish! :)
Thank you so much to Inkas Destination!

My husband and I did the Lares Trek. It was amazing! Luis is a great guide, who was always very relaxed and patient, so we could take our time and take all the pictures we wanted. The food was also very delicious, we were really surprised by that! We only saw one group of other tourists on the way, so that was also great. That's the summary, but for more details, keep on reading.
On the first day, we visited a local market. Then, we relaxed at hot springs. In the afternoon, we started our trek. The landscapes were beautiful, and we saw many lama's and alpaca's. We spent the night at a house in a local village, it was very interesting to see how this family lives! Usually you sleep in a tent in their garden, but because it was very cold and there was space, the cook set up our tent in a shed.
On the second day, the landscapes were even more stunning than the day before! The scenery seemed to change after every corner. Again, we ended up at a local village. This is where the Lares Trek ends. If you're a bigger group, you will spend the night in a tent in this village. But because we were a small group, we took a bus to Ollantaytambo and slept there.
On the third day, Luis gave us a guided tour through Ollantaytambo. It's a beautiful town! We also had some free time to explore. In the afternoon, we took the train to Aguas Calientes. Again, we had free time. Also, the room there was really beautiful and there was hot water. Bring earplugs, because there is a lot of music in this town.
Then, on the fourth day, we visited Machu Picchu! Luis knew exactly how to get in at the perfect time to see the sunlight go over the mountain. We walked around circuit 2, which is known to be the most complete route. Also, it's possible to climb Huayna Picchu halfway Circuit 2 (we had booked a ticket for this). So keep in mind that your timeslot for Huayna Picchu should be about 2 hours or more after your timeslot for Circuit 2. Inkas Destination knew this and booked the perfect timeslots.
To conclude: it was a great experience and we can definitely recommend Inkas Destination!
