I booked a quick solo trip to do the Salkantay trail in late Feb, 4-day, 3 nights. There were significant trail closures throughout the region.

The company was flexible and we switched to the Inca Jungle 4 day trek. It was so much fun. The downhill biking in the rain was wild. The real highlight was the trekking. Beautiful views along the way, incredible accommodations, and just an exhilarating experience overall.

Alex, our guide, was super knowledgeable, playful and helpful. He made the trip really worthwhile.

We switched from the salkantay trek to the Inca jungle after mudslides damaged the salkantay path. The company was great about trying to find alternate routes and activities since many things had been damaged by the mudslide. Overall a great experience with a great guide (Luis)!

I coordinate a group of like-minded adventurers from Australia to tick off bucket list items. We were looking for a cost effective way of getting to Machu Picchu but got so much more! From the constant and clear communication with Zeneyda in the office to the knowledge and passion shown by Luis and his team of Aurelio Boobies Jimmy and John we were well looked after. They customised our tour for individuals in our group and created adventures as requested for 8 days from our pickup at Cusco airport to drop off at Juliaca airport and everything in between. They promptly dealt with and provided solutions from injuries, sickness, fatigue, lost passports and even lost glasses.
Luis’ passion for his culture shone through and made this a special experience for us all.
Thank you all for sharing your amazing country and getting all 39 of us through to the end of such an incredible experience.

WELL DONE INKAS DESTINATION ON A GREAT TEAM EFFORT!!!

I'm extremely happy with my decision to book the 4 day multi-sport adventure Inca Jungle Trail tour! Luis Cusihuallpa was my guide and he provided a safe and adventurous tour! He is an extremely knowledgeable guide who was able to tailor my tour to what I wanted. The tour itinerary provided a balanced trip with plenty of time for adventures and exploration based on your own wants. Luis provided insight into Peruvian culture and Incan culture. He answered all my questions and made my experience on this tour one that I would recommend to anyone looking for a unique way to hike the Incan trail to Machu Picchu. The hostels that were chosen each provided a unique perspective on different aspects of Peruvian culture and added a lot to the whole experience. Monkey House in particular made a great impression on me and if I were to book the trip again I would like to stay an extra night at Monkey House. I would also like to stay an extra night in Agua Calientes and would recommend doing so for anyone looking to book the tour in the future. This way you can hike the steps to Machu Picchu, but you can leave your pack behind in the hostel and hike unencumbered up the steps. The biking, rafting and zip lining all added a touch of adventure without ever feeling unsafe, and I would absolutely book the adventure sports again. My experience with Luis and this tour made my trip to Peru one of the top 3 trips I've ever been on and I have done some traveling in my time! Please book with Luis and you will not regret it!

I'm really happy with my choice for the Inca Jungle Trail and Inkas Destination. Personally I really like adventurous activities. When I read about the Jungle Inca Trail, where I could go mountain biking, rafiting, ziplining and see Machu Picchu in just 4 days I was convinced.
From the moment I stepped on the mountain bike on the first day I have only been enjoying this tour. There is just so much adventure, the landscapes are insane and Machu Picchu is simply amazing. During all outdoor activities I felt rather safe due to strict safety measures.
I was in a small group of 8 people together with tour guide Luis. Half of the group spoke Spanish and half of the people spoke English. Luis was able to explain everything clear in both languages. Besides Luis was really flexible which made us decide upon many things (like timings) as a group, I personally really liked that. Luis knows a lot about the region and the culture and he explained the stories with humour. The breakfast on the 2nd day was amazing, it only consisted of local products, very delicious!

Jul 2019 • Family
It isn’t often that one visits a country as a tourist and leaves with a sense of deep connection to that country. Thanks to Luis and his team for a deeply immersive experience into Peru, it’s people, it’s food, it’s religion, ecology and culture, our family was fortunate to leave with such a connection.

When we started researching our Peru itinerary, we hadn’t heard of Inka’s Destination. It was a chance finding on Google. We had some questions that Zeneyda answered kindly and patiently. She was very helpful in helping us think through our itinerary. Reassured by her responsiveness and by the favorable reviews of Inka’s Destination on TripAdvisor, we made our reservations through them. Our itinerary included a two day tour of the Sacred Valley, the city tour of Cusco and the 4-day Inca Jungle Trek - all private tours.

Inka’s Destination greatly exceeded our expectations. We are a family of four, with two young daughters. Each private tour consisted of a generously sized vehicle, a driver and a guide. For the city tour of Cusco, and the Inca jungle trek, Luis served as the guide himself. Consistently, they were flexible and accommodating of our needs. We are vegetarian, and they ensured that wherever we went, we would have good vegetarian food for our meals. In the middle of arduous hikes, when our daughters got tired and cranky, a car would materialize and ferry us to a nice restaurant or a hostel. Rather than having to carry heavy backpacks, they would be shipped to the destination and would be available to us in the evenings at our hotel.

Luis went above and beyond. We had missed packing swimwear and flip-flops for our river rafting. He helped us make emergency purchases of those items from one of the local shops in Santa Maria. We also had the privilege of watching the South America cup soccer match between Peru and Chile in one of the restaurants in Santa Teresa - beer, soccer crazy fans, the whole shebang. What a special experience! But that wasn’t the only one. Our older daughter’s birthday fell during the Inca jungle trek, on the day before the hike to Machu Picchu. Not sure how will you always knew it was her birthday, but for lunch he arranged for a special cake and celebration for her!!

At the end of the trip, saying goodbye to Luis was as hard as parting ways with an old friend. We highly recommend Inka’s Destination and would very gladly endorse them to all of our friends and family planning to visit Peru.

I really can’t rate it highly enough. It’s a must do if you are going to Machu Picchu! All of our guides were amazing and the tours were unbelievable. From cycling down the Andes, white water rafting to the hot springs and staying overnight at the Monkey House! My friends and I have had the time of our life and will definitely be back again!

Traveling to Peru with 4 children is no small endeavor. Seeing Machu Picchu is a lifetime experience and choosing how to get there is just as important. The Inca Jungle Trek was simply an amazing experience from start to finish. The 3 days before Machu Picchu are packed full of adventure, amazing hiking with breathing views, local cultural experience, education about Peru and Incan history, delicious authentic food, a variety of unique sleeping and did I mention adventure? Our amazing guide Luis met us the night before the adventure to introduce himself and review the itinerary.

From the start of the first day your adrenaline starts to surge as you climb the high mountains of the Andes and then have a thrilling multi hour down hill bike ride with stunning views. After a local and delicious lunch in town we set out for more adventure with a river rafting adventure that awesome. I’ve been able to river raft in Colorado, California and Costa Rica and this trip had the most adrenaline yet! Class 2 and plenty of class 3 rapids! Simple awesome.

That night we ascended by car and hike and we’re provided accommodations at what has become known as the “Monkey House. It’s situated in the middle of a hillside of the mountain lake and one of the original Inca trails passes right by it. It was a phenomenal experience and I was speechless when I woke up to the incredible views. Breakfast was authentic and it was about at this time that you realize what an amazing adventure you are on.

Day 2 is filled with hiking. Our trip had about 10 miles planned and every moment was amazing with the incredible views. This pushed our 8 year old and 11 year old at times but they persevered and did an amazing job. The elevation is more around 5000 feet or so with some solid inclines and declines. Our guide Luis, more to follow on him, was simply outstanding and is a true professional and was able to anticipate needed breaks and always provided wonderful conversation if desired. I don’t want to give away all the secrets but there is adventure on day 2 as well and the end of the day is met with a strategic reward at some amazing hot springs.

We were provided accommodations at a local town and had a wonderful dinner which was great as we experienced some local culture.

Day 3 started off with more adventure as the entire family got to experience zip lining with Inca Flyers. It was intense and thrilling to say the least with epic views and long rides. After this we continued on towards Machu Picchu and hiked along the railway in another stunning and otherworldly hike filled with one stunning view after another. This hike was shorter and flatter which was just right after the day before. Approx 6-7 miles. We spent the night is Aguascalientes and had another wonderful dinner with our guide Luis and we enjoyed our last meal with him.

I can’t speak for other guides but we had the privilege of having Luis who brought professionalism and experience. Having a family of his own he read our family dynamic very well and made the entire experience something that our family will never forget. I am truly grateful for him and highly recommend him for others.

Day 4 is Machu Picchu and you can pick your level of adventure as you can wake up extra early and hike or take the bus. We chose the bus because our youngest 2 kids were pretty cooked with hiking and we were anticipating a decent about of hiking at Machu Picchu.

Machu Picchu is it’s own conversation but I will just say that it’s otherworldly and clearly deserves it’s place as one of the 7 modern wonders of the world! It will not disappoint.

After touring Machu Picchu for about 3 hours we took the bus back down to town. There is the option to hike as well for the extra adventure enthusiasts!

Our family decided to shop and have lunch and we later caught the train back towards Cusco and we’re provided a taxi to take us back to our hotel.

I could say a lot more but I will simply say the trip is a wonderful alternative to the classic Inca Trail and other treks as it provides anticipation to Machu Picchu, hiking along one of the many Inca trails. This experience gives you even more with a cultural experience, 10 gigs of adrenaline and a ton of fun! We pulled it off with the family and so can you.

Tip: Stay a couple nights in Cusco and get acclimated if possible. It’s key. Ask for Luis for a guide. Be flexible and open minded and prepare for adventure.
