Absolutely 100% the tour group you want to book with.
Oct 2019
From the time we booked this trip in February right up until the day we arrived in Cusco the communication was always prompt and helpful. We added an extra day to our trip that needed two more hotel rooms, hired an extra porter, and had passport renewals that all needed handling and right from the get go I knew we chose the right company based on how well they handled these extras.

Both our pick up and drop off at the airport were right on schedule, easy to find and it was great to be greeted by a friendly faces as soon as we arrived in Peru. Miguel was very helpful in getting us acquainted with the city on our way to the hotel.

The trip itself was amazing beyond belief and exceeded all my expectations, (and I had many as I researched extensively prior to booking and travel).
We had a large group of 18, and so we had three guides; Claudio, Rolando, and Oskar. Our guides definitely were one of the highlights of the trip. Yes, the views are breathtaking, yes, the hike was both challenging and fun, but without our amazing guides it just wouldn’t have been the same. We had opportunities to get to know them each during our time with them on the trail and they were just great people to be with and to get to know. Claudio, who was our lead guide, was so passionate about teaching us the history of his ancestors that you just couldn’t help but to feel passionate about it too. Oskar was hilarious and kept us belly laughing throughout the whole trip. As one of the slower hikers in our group I never felt rushed and our guides were always supportive to get us through the toughest parts. Another amazing thing was that they were all great about was taking pictures for and of the group. They never seemed burdened by being handed at least 15 different cell phones so we all could get a photo. You rarely had to ask them to take a photo for you as they would offer and help make sure we got the best shot possible.

Our provided gear such as tents, mattress pads, the dining tent, and even the portable camp toilet were all well maintained. We had rain our entire second day and night and we woke up completely dry.

The food was one of a few reasons I booked through Valencia and it did not disappoint. Each meal had 3-4 courses of nutritious and delicious food that hit the spot after our long days on the trail and even little things like having snacks prepared for us daily to take on the hikes and “tentside coffee and hot chocolate” really made the early mornings and long days easier. Our chef, Wilfredo made a cake to help us celebrate a big milestone birthday. Not only was the cake delicious but it’s just amazing to think that it’s being made at altitude, in a tent.

And lastly but certainly not least were the amazing porters. Again because of our large group we also has a large porter contingent at 28 individuals. The number one reason we chose Valencia is because they promise to take good care of their porters and I really believe it shows. Each of our guys had new looking hiking boots (that we were told are replaced every 5 months), had ponchos during the rain, and had fresh uniforms that we saw them change regularly, often replacing a sweaty shirt at lunch with a fresh one for the second half of the day. Also our porters always traveled as a group, tearing down the trails like a small blue army. Not only was it an impressive sight but from a safety perspective it was good to know that should one of them get hurt during any of their runs at breakneck speed down the mountain that there would be help immediately. Many of the other porters we saw from other companies wore sandals without socks despite the cold temperatures in the rain, and traveled in small groups or even alone. The porters were respectful, and were always around to make sure we had everything we could need. Truly the trip would not be possible without these men.

With the exception of squat toilets in a couple of places, most of the stops we made and camps we stayed in had real flush toilets. The bathrooms were the only thing that brought you back to earth and reminded you that you weren’t actually glamping despite sleeping in a tent. While the toilets weren’t the most pleasant, we were grateful to have them at all being so far from any real civilization. Also having the portable camp toilet “for number 1 only!” that was only for our group was a nice perk. I would suggest for women in investing in a Go Girl or other female urinal.

In closing, we could not have been more happy in our decision to book through Valencia and are genuinely so so grateful for this amazing experience we were able to have thanks to them,

Great guides and company
Jul 2019
Valencia went out of their way to work with our group and its ever changing needs. They were responsive and flexible. We really appreciated that. Both of the guides we had on the trail, Rene and Aldo, were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The porters were kind and the cook was AMAZING! This is a wonderful trip, even with horrible altitude sickness. (Get there early to acclimate and take all the drugs!) Once in a lifetime experience!

From all of our pre-trip emails through the conclusion of our tour, Valencia Travels went above and beyond. Communication was always prompt and clear. Our lead tour guide, Nico, and assistant guide, Cristian, were AMAZING! So knowledgeable, kind, funny, and friendly. Our Chaskis were the best and powered through day after day, even in the rain, always smiling and cheering us on. The food was unbelievable and we felt so pampered and well taken care of! Our amazing group of hikers, guides, chaskis, and chef, along with the whole team at Valencia Travels made this the trip of a lifetime. If you're undecided with which outfitter to use, stop reading reviews and book with Valencia Travels!

Valencia Travel provided a great tour of the Inca Trail. The guides and porters were excellent. Our cook was outstanding. All of the Valencia team was very supportive. The encouragement and enthusiasm was much appreciated. My husband and I were given the trip for a gift from our children. We feel very fortunate that they picked Valencia for our guided trip!

One word --- Amazing
Aug 2018 • Couples
From the moment we landed to the moment we left, we were amazed at how smoothly the trip went. Valencia Travel helped with anything we needed and communicated extremely well on when and where we needed to be. The Inca Trail was full of amazing surprises along the way. Our guides where great along the journey, helping with tips on how to make the hike easier(it is not an easy hike at all) to creating a dairy free menu for me for every meal. All in all it was an amazing journey with some amazing people and yes Machu Picchu is not bad either.

A Once in a Lifetime Experience
Aug 2018 • Friends
My wife, four friends and I signed up to do the 7-day Inca Trail Trek to Machu Picchu with Valencia travel. Diana did a great job providing information, ensuring all the logistics were taken care of and answering our many questions. Once we arrived in Cusco we were picked up from the airport and brought to a beautiful hotel where we stayed for two nights while we acclimated to the altitude. The hotel was a nice luxury experience before the hardest four days of my life. Our guides Rene and Eliston met us the night before the trek to explain everything and make sure we were prepared. From the start you could tell how knowledgeable they both were. Knowing that we were going with someone who had done the trek more then 700 times was great. Eliston provided us with amazing information and was definitely the funniest guide on the trail. Rene built great personal connections with everyone and provided much needed moral support to all of us when we were struggling throughout the trip. Eliston gave us great tips which helped us pace ourselves and stay safe. When my wife experienced altitude sickness on the third day both Rene and Eliston were calm and provided her with the treatment she needed (oxygen, water and rest) so that she was better within the hour. I was also very happy to see how well the porters were treated. Compared to some of the other companies we had a much more reasonable porter to trekker ratio and you could see a significant difference between the size of the packs that our porters carried compared to other trips. We never saw any of our porters struggling with the size of their loads. I would 100% recommend Valencia travel, they provided us with any amazing experience from start to finish at a reasonable value.

Trek of a Lifetime
Aug 2018 • Friends
This trek was absolutely amazing. The Inca Trail offers unbelievable views and sights throughout and is as beautiful as the pictures suggest. We had a wonderful trip with two very friendly, knowledgable, and entertaining guides who made an already amazing trek even better. The porters were also incredible and made the experience that much better. Overall, this was a really wonderful experience.
