To start our Machu Picchu Tour we will pick you up from your hotel and leave from Cusco very early in the morning, we’ll travel by turistic private van to the living town of “Ollantaytambo” in the Sacred Valley where we’ll board our train to Aguas Calientes. With beautiful scenery throughout the journey the train journey itself is an experience. Following the course of the river down the Sacred Valley you’ll arrive to Aguas Calientes. Upon your arrived to Aguas Calientes town, our tour guide will be there to greet you and take you to the bus station to head straight up to Machu Picchu “one of the seven wonder” for your guided tour. The tour lasts for about 2½ hours during which you’ll learn about the Incas and visit all the most important areas of the citadel. Later in the afternoon you take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes where you will take the train back to Ollantaytambo and then carry on by turistic private bus to Cusco. (The tour ends in your hotel)

Amazing Inca Trail/Machu Picchu experience with local personalized company
My wife and I did the 8 day package with a 4 day/3 night hike to Machu Picchu along the Inca Trail. I cannot recommend this trip highly enough—it was the experience of a lifetime. Our guide, Freddy, was amazing in his depth and breadth of knowledge. He was incredibly personable, and more than happy to share his culture and history with us. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time with him, and we are so grateful for the experience Inkayni cultivated. We researched a lot of other companies, but Inkayni stood out because it is local—they are smaller, but it was to our benefit—we had a much more personalized experience as a result, and grew close with Freddy, Ruben, and their team. If you want a truly authentic travel experience, Inkayni stands head and shoulders above the rest. We were extremely glad that our money would be staying local—many of the larger companies are owned by foreign CEOs. Our group was incredible—chef Ruben and his team of chaskis took great care of us—all of the food was delicious, and we were consistently blown away by the meals Ruben was able to create along the trail. While the trek itself was physically challenging, it was not impossibly so—we were able to complete it with only a little difficulty, while in relatively good health. All in all, the experience of a lifetime, one we’ll gladly remember forever. If you’re at all looking to visit Machu Picchu, I cannot recommend Inkayni and their team highly enough, and I strongly encourage interests travelers to explore their hiking options. The Inca trail is an incredible experience unto itself.

Amazing trek, beautiful scenery, wonderful people!
An absolutely amazing trek!! The scenery and mountains are unlike anything I’ve ever seen in my entire life! The landscape was beautiful and changes quickly from jungle, to grassland, to forest, to mountains, to waterfalls with wild horses. And the STARS at night. The sky is so dark you can see the purple colour of the milky way galaxy with the naked eye. Our Quechua tour guide Ronald Ccana Sotalero was very knowledgeable about Inka history and culture. We learned so much from him. He told great jokes and had us stop along the trail in places where we could take the most beautiful photos. Our cook and porter, Illyakil and Marcelino, were so kind and helpful. The food was really delicious and camp was well kept. Even the camp bathroom they set up was very clean and didn’t smell. Couldn’t have done the trek without them. Would 100% recommend this hike! It was a beautifully humbling experience that reminded us to better appreciate the world and cultures around us. Only recommendation would be to bring a few things for the children in the village we had lunch in on the second day. It’s a very remote village so the community appreciates items such as school supplies, clothes for babies/children, and safe outdoor toys. I think the tour company would be more than happy to give you suggestions of items the community would appreciate:)

        Best company of inca trail!
If you think which company to choose for the inka trail, this is it! Our guides were amazing, they tought us everything we need to know about peruvian history before getting to Machu Picchu, and provided the best experience on the site. The food was great! Our chef, Mario, was always making different dishes of peruvian cuisine that were so delicious. The porters were so nice, and impressive by always being so fast and ready, they had such a demanding job and they did it so well. You need to book inca trail with this company!

Good tour but some misrepresentation about small group size and presence of guide
If you expect a tour where you have the same tour guide, bus/ van, and consistency for the length of the trip you will be disappointed. We liked our trip but would have been happier had we known up front how disjointed/ piece meal the trip would be. You will often be picked up and transferred by random drivers (AP to hotel and vice versa). There is no Inkayni representation in Lima, so the time there is with a city guide you will not see again and various other tourists from other hotels. In Cusco and the Sacred Valley we finally had some consistency with the same van, guide, and driver for 3 days but even then he would "ditch us" and then meet up with us again. Other tours had their guide with them on the train and in Aguas Calientes but ours (Percy) said it was more convenient for him to come in late on another train and not be with us the entire time. After we returned to Cusco we were on our own again. One day in Cusco for sightseeing or for a day trip, then a bus trip with a lot of other tourists (30+) on a big bus from Cusco to Puno. In Puno/ Lake Titicaca we had a tour guide who was not affiliated with Inkayni, so again we were with a big group of people (30+) from all sorts of different tours. The promise of a small tour, no more than 10 participants was really only true for the 3 days in Aguas Calientes/ Machu Picchu/ Sacred Valley. We really hoped for the same 10 people, driver and guide the entire time and would have liked the trip better that way. The hotels were OK but not great. We really only liked the boutique hotel in Cusco. It was gorgeous and in a great area. The hotel in Lima (Hotel Miraflores) looked nice in Google pics but was kind of run down and outdated in reality. We could not even find more than one working outlet in our room, and they messed up breakfast (front desk confirmed early breakfast due to early flight to Cusco the next morning but then it was not ready and the kitchen staff were annoyed with us and tried to send us away). The hotel in Aguas Calientes (Golden Sunrise Machu Picchu) had some issues with hot showers and front desk security (they left a stack of passports alone on the desk with outside doors propped open where anyone could have come in from the street and stolen them. Also, we had a leaky toilet in our room which caused the room to smell. The hotel in Puno (Qalasaya Hotel) was cramped with 3 beds in the room (it was so tight one person had to climb over one bed to get to the 2nd bed) and we had no room to open our suitcases. Hot showers there were also inconsistent (sometimes great, sometimes required a call down to the front desk for hot water to come on). The home stay with a family on Amantani Island in lake Titicaca was unnecessarily stressful. We had not been properly prepared on what to expect and were ill equipped for the stay. We stayed in an uninsulated room where the door did not even shut completely. There was no heat in the room and no outlet. It smelled funny. Outside toilet only, and it did not flush, so we had to use a bucket of water after every business. No showers. We all spent a miserable cold night and promptly got sick (cough and runny nose). I like the idea of home stays to learn more about the culture and our host family was lovely but we were not prepared for the complete lack of comfort, and with a small child with us it felt reckless to spend the night without heat. Again, a little bit of detailed information/ transparency ahead of time would have gone a long way toward making an informed decision and knowing what to expect. We also feel bad that the families participating in the home stay have to wear traditional clothes no matter what the weather is- skirts and sandals for the women, when the temps were at times below 10 degrees C. Our host "mother" even said she'd like to have warm legs but she would risk a ticket if she changed her outfit to be more appropriate for the weather. The good things were that Inkayni staff were responsive to WhatsApp messages, polite and courteous and helpful as much as they could without being physically there. Also, without them there most of the time the many moving pieces worked out seamlessly- we always had a driver/ transport. Overall, the tour stops were great, we would have just liked a guide with us to facilitate the logistics.

        Trip of a Lifetime!!
We had the most incredible trip with Wilbert! The experience and adventure he takes you on is truly a trip of a lifetime. We’re both single females in our 30s and he took care of us like a father figure and was super knowledgeable of Machu Picchu and the Inca history, especially since his family is from that area. It was nice because he catered to our needs as well. We’re in decent physical shape but definitely struggled with some of the heights and so he pushed us but also arranged transport when needed. I would definitely train 3 months in advance if you’re not already an experienced hiker. You also need to bring a significant amount of Sol (at least 400) for tips throughout the trip (i.e. drivers, raft guides, zip line instructors, water and snacks throughout the way, etc). The food was all very good (mostly chicken, tomatoes, rice, potatoes, vegetable soups) and we never felt unsafe eating anything. The hostels were all very clean. Would highly recommend to anyone as it’s a memorable experience that’ll last a lifetime! And hopefully you’ll get Wilbert as your guide as he is like the Mayor of Cusco and takes phenomenal photos and videos of you!

        Best adventure!!
This was a phenomenal experience! Wilbert was our guide and he was an excellent host that made us feel safe during all of the adventures & shared so many beautiful stories of Perú and Inca history. We had a blast and would definitely recommend this to other individuals and groups. One thing to note, the hiking is a bit challenging on the incline. So training a bit is needed! I would also recommend bringing money with you, as a lot of stops along the way do not accept credit card. Mountain biking - you should definitely know how to ride a bike well. The bike and pads/helmet are provided. Wilbert explained in detail how the ride would go and showed hand gestures to communicate stops or to slow down. We stopped multiple times down the mountain for pictures and to hear stories about the local people. Rafting - the guides were so much fun! They explained the rules and safety precautions before heading to the river. They provided a jacket, life vest, helmet and sunglass strap. Once on the water, we had a blast rafting and swimming. We also stopped to see a waterfall. Zip lining - we went on 4 zip lines and walked over a bridge across mountains. Each zip line was in a different position - upside down, Superman, backwards, etc. It was so much fun! Some short hikes involved from zip line to zip line. Hiking - this was such a beautiful experience. It was a bit challenging on the incline with our backpacks, but totally worth it!! Such beautiful views and an amazing experience walking the Inca trail. We also stopped at a local house in the mountains and learned how they prepare coffee beans. Wilbert was such a knowledgeable and caring guide.

Best trip ever! Inkayni Tours is the one to use!!!
We did the 7 Day Sacred Valley with 2 Day Short Inka trail and Rainbow Mt. it was absolutely PERFECTION! Our guide Percy was better than we could have hoped. His knowledge and enthusiasm and kindness made our trip even more memorable. The Inkayni group made our trip so smooth by having the best professional drivers and super comfy and CLEAN transport for all of our excursions. It was all planned out so we didn’t waste time but had plenty of time do see and do all we wanted. The hotel in Cusco, Tanda Pata, was simply EXCELLENT!! Comfy beds, super clean and in a perfect part of the city. We LOVED it! The hotel in Aquas Caliente was just OK but it was fine for 2 nights. I truly cannot say enough good things about this company. They were quick to respond with any questions and they even gave us T Shirts when I mentioned to Percy that we wanted to find us some shirts— WOW!!!!

        Once-in-a-lifetime Experience
Working with Inkayni on our tour was a breeze. They were communicative and attentive to our needs from the time I was inquiring to the end of the tour. Everyone we had the chance to deal with Inkayni was very nice and caring. The whole tour was very organized and well-planned. Inkayni let us leave our luggages with them while we were on the tour. Herlin, our guide, was such a nice and wonderful gentleman who made sure me and my partner do not turn around and not finish the trail. He went as far as carrying my partner’s heavy backpack. He motivated us to push through. He also was very patient and never rushed us during the hike. Herlin was also very knowledgeable and we learned a lot from him. Bonus is he takes really good pictures and videos. 101% recommend Inkayni to everyone going to Peru and doing the Machu Picchu tour.

This was a highlight of our trip to Peru! Our guide for this portion of the trip, Anthony, was by far the most knowledgeable, experienced, and genuinely enjoyable guide we have ever had. His knowledge of history, local life, and nature made the tour an absolutely unforgettable experience. He had amazing story telling skills and was able to customize the trip to meet the desires and abilities of every member of the group. When we come back to Peru, we will be requesting Anthony specifically because we know he will ensure an outstanding trip. Similarly, our driver Rony, did an absolutely amazing job getting us to each destination safely (quite a feat in Peruvian traffic) and we will miss him and his great music. Overall, this expedition was fantastic and we cannot recommend it enough!

We had an incredible time at Machu Picchu. Our guide Wilbur was incredibly informative, fun and a great photographer! Wilbur also guided us through Chinchero, Moray and Maras. We would have never seen so much of Peru in such a short amount of time without Wilbur and Inkayni Tours. Thanks again for an amazing week!

Firstly, we wanted to give kudos to our wonderful tour guide, Herlin. He spoke excellent English, gave a lot of great history about Machu Picchu, was very patient with our group, and shared interesting information on what things are like in Cusco and Peru in the present. We enjoyed having him with us and highly recommend him as a tour guide.

Overall, we would definitely recommend this private tour. However, we wanted to note some areas of improvement that Inkayni can work on in the future with this particular one day tour, (and want to also clarify the following suggestions have nothing to do with Herlin - he was amazing).

      1. Morning Meeting Time Changed: When we first booked and paid for the tour 2 months earlier, the van pickup was scheduled for 5:15am from our hotel in Cusco. We later found out via email it had changed to 4am one day before the actual tour.

      2. 5pm Meeting the evening before tour: We were given no updates on our tour until about 11am the day before - only after we had emailed Inkayni for more information and confirmation. They had requested a last minute 5pm meeting the same day, which we would have easily missed if we didn’t have internet connection. In this meeting, they told us what to expect and bring, but this meeting should have been scheduled much further in advance. To make travel plans easier, we suggest Inkayni skip the evening office meeting and instead send a detailed email to customers a week ahead (in case of internet issues) with pick up info, contact info, and tour details.

      3. Transit Issues: We were ready by 4:05am (5 minutes late), but had to walk several long blocks and stand outside for an additional 20+ minutes (while freezing at under 0 degrees Celsius) waiting for our late van driver. He then took a shortcut to gain back time, without letting us know, on an extremely dark, narrow, windy, and bumpy dirt road under construction, which was VERY stressful on our stomachs. Until the shortcut road construction is completed, we do not recommend this for customers unless it is an emergency.

      4. Train rides: Inkayni reserved seats on the riverside of the Peru Rail train in the morning, giving us amazing views. At night, however, we were upgraded to the 6:10pm Vista Dome train (known for their amazing day time views) to Ollantaytambo, which made for an extra long day with an estimated return time of well after 10pm. We felt the return Vista Dome trip, 4 hours later in the dark, was not worth the long wait in Aguas Calientes (despite the fashion show and snacks). It would be wise to check with customers ahead of time if they want a longer day in Aguas Calientes and time to hike for the additional views of Machu Picchu, or to return back on an earlier train. In our case, we wanted the earlier train because the extra time was too tiring (and the additional hike way too challenging for us) and we had already been in the Cusco area for the previous 4 days.
***On another note - to make your life easier, consider spending the night before at Ollantaytambo or Aguas Calientes instead of traveling by van in the early morning from Cusco. It would solve much of the transportation issues we experienced on this tour.

Dear Ann, We are grateful with your commentary. Our guide Herlin is happy to know that he did a good job with you during your tour in Machu Picchu, also for your recommendation. We will improve the inconvenient about the time of the briefing to avoid futures problems with our passengers, we will try to communicate in advance about schedule changes, too. We hope you have learned about our culture and have a nice memory of us. Best regards, INKAYNI PERU TOURS.

We (myself and my two children ages 14 and 10) have just returned from an exceptional day with tour guide Jonathan from the Inkayni Peru Tours. I could not ask for a more perfect day. Everything went precisely how we were told it would go. After our beautiful 1h40m train ride Jonathan was waiting for us as soon as we disembarked. From there he led us on an exceptional historical tour of Machu Picchu. His knowledge was incredible and he was able to answer any questions that we had. I could not ask for a better experience in having only 1 day to explore Machu Picchu. Thank you!!!

Our tour guide, Franco Pillco, was kind enough to trek to the top of Huayna Picchu with us before starting the Machu Picchu tour. He showed us where to buy bus tickets to Machu Picchu and spent the whole morning teaching us about the ruins (he carries around photos/guides to show so he's not just talking the whole time). During the hike, he took us to the best places to take photos. Overall, it was a great experience!

These folks were early to pick us up before 4:30 AM at our Cusco hotel. This was just my wife and me so a ride to the train in a private car was the mode of transport. They had a packet with all our tickets and our tour guide Juan to meet us in Aguas Calientes when we arrived.

Juan took care of us the entire time and gave us a one on one tour of Machu Picchu. Juan, a 23 year old college grad and a native to the regeion was spirtually connected to the traditions and history of his culture. He was so much more than informational as he spoke of Machu Picchu's history and culture with personal passion and connection. We love every minute.

After our tour we treated Juan to lunch and had a short tour of Aguas Calientes before returning to Cusco by train and personal car to the door of our hotel.

This one day tour from Cusco is a very LONG day but worth it if that's all the time you have. If you have more time, the multi day tour would be more relaxing for sure.

Overall we were very impressed and please with INKAYNI PERU TOURS and our persoal guide, Juan (who goes by John)
