This was a phenomenal experience. My dad and I left our hotel in Cusco bright and early and took a train to Aguas Calientes. Our travel agency gave us a 10am slot and we arrived around 11am. I strongly recommend that you stay near Machu Picchu the night before and purchase a 6am or 8am ticket to see everything. Anyways, our tour guide was awesome and took great pictures of us. The ruins are broken up into an urban side and an agricultural side. Definitely, go once in your lifetime! Too bad, our train broke down and to wait about 2 hours for temporary repairs.

We used viajes pacifico for our tour to Machu Pichu . We were very pleased with the whole experience !! , a very friendly service, highly professional and stress free.
Our guide Manuel was excellent !! He explain everything and answered every single question. We highly recommend its services, they picked us up from our hotel on time , left a reminder at reception and email the day before regarding the pick up time and they were waiting for us at the station and made us feel well looked after.
Again , highly recommend it if you are looking for a tour company during your holidays in Cusco.

The organisation was excellent, sharp on time and great in assistance. The tour guide was medium, he was passionate but I felt we could spend more time on the site rather than on the city after and may be we could have more details in certain things.
We choose the 360 train option, highly recommend it for the view.

This review rating reflects as close to an average of two aspects of the trip: one, the communication by the company (1/5), two, the actual tour of Machu Picchu (5/5).
The communication by the company receives a 1/5 due to confusing and inconsistent messaging and conflicting instructions. We were told to be ready for pickup in the morning at 9:54 AM, via email the day before the tour. We operated under that assumption only to be awakened at 5 AM by the first tour guide that we had less than 10 minutes to get ready and leave. We didn’t receive ANY notifications that we were going to receive additional instructions via WhatsApp nor did we even receive those WhatsApp messages until past 9 PM when we had already gone to bed. I do understand that the staff operating the buses and transportation are not to blame, but to the operational team in charge, my critical feedback is that they need more consistent and clear communication and if the expectation is to do messaging via WhatsApp they need to make that clear right from the start and also to send the information earlier. And not give out conflicting information about pickup and drop off times. We left in such a rush and feeling very overwhelmed and panicked that it did impact our overall experience in a very negative way.
On a positive note, the actual tour and our guide, Marco, throughout Machu Picchu itself was stellar, an incredibly educational and breathtaking experience. Our guide was wonderful and so gracious and taught us so much. He absolutely elevated our experience and made it so enriching and immersive with all the inside knowledge he shared with our group. Would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone because of him! Give Marco a raise!!!

our tour guide, franklin, was super knowledgeable about incan history, culture, and traditions. he led us through a great tour of machu picchu, sharing many stories and answering lots of questions. he also helped us find all the best photo spots and took great photos for us. he did not make the experience feel rushed at all, despite being on a time crunch because of the tour company’s poor planning (see below).
however this day started off terribly when the travel company booked 4 different groups with the same tour guide, all of us arriving into aguas calientes at different times. this ended up making us wait in the town for over 2 hours before boarding the bus to machu picchu, which heavily cut into our time to see the attraction because we had to make a train back 2 hours earlier than everyone else in our group. the company did not help at all with trying to book a later train and it was incredibly frustrating, with no communication about why we were delayed 2 hours (when they booked all of our travel so they knew other groups would be that much later). 1 star for the company.

Dear Valerie, we appreciate your recognition for knowledge and attention of our guide Franklin. We were auditing our operation on your day trip, and our operations department took some wrong decisions that affected your experience. Your train arrived on time and you have had the entrance to Machu Picchu according the arrival time, all was arranging to have a great day, but we did a mistake losing time to wait and join more travelers to start your tour inside Machu Picchu. In behalf VIPAC, we would like to give you our big apology. We are taking your important feedback to improve our service for next customers. Thank you for your time and again my sincerely apology. I will write you by email.

We loved our trip to Machu Pichu. We stayed overnight in town to try to get acclimated to the altitude. But I still had a bit of trouble breathing during our walk up Machu Picchu. You must reserve your tickets for a set time, and you need a local guide. The line to catch the bus up to the site gets long very fast. It’s up a hill, so that means more climbing in low oxygen. The site is very controlled. There are only 3 different trails you can take. There were other trails in the past, but they’ve been closed . You can only take one, so choose carefully. It was crowded, people were rude and disobeyed the instructions to not sit on the ledges or climb the rocks. There are also officials watching for those people. If you’re caught, you will be escorted out of the site.
Our tour guide said there’s talk of closing more of the site to visitors. Over 1.5 million annually, visit Machu Picchu. This tourist flow has strained available resources in Aguas Calientes, and the cloud forest ecosystem is adversely impacted by the daily deluge of visitors. The amount of money incoming from visitors isn’t enough to sustain the infrastructure needed to ensure that the site remains healthy.
The local people are friendly. The exchange rate for US dollars to Peruvian Soles is very favorable. The scenery is beautiful. There are many other sites to visit and all of them are amazing.

First I'll start by saying that overall the experience was amazing and I happily give the company a raring of 4 out of 5. We originally had reservations for July 14 but somehow ministry of culture was slow reporting our passports...this lead to us having to change days to the 15th but I commend paulo for getting us all set up with necessary tickets at last minute. Our tour guide for Machu Pichu was named Johnny and somehow we ended up getting a private tour which was cool. Johnny was very knowledgeable and gave us a great 2 hour tour which was just right. Note...pretty hot ..bring a hat and wear cool clothing. The 4am start time was early but necessary to take the 10am slot for the park. Seems like the afternoon was way more crowded so do the morning shift if you can handle it.

Paying a visit to Machu Picchu is a must if you are in Cusco. Can’t describe in words how beautiful and amazing is this place… even mystical. Pictures and being there are the best way to understand.
Make sure to get well informed in advance about health protocols and if possible plan to stay one night in Aguascalientes (Machu Picchu town). A day trip is possible but the trains schedule and current restrictions (COVID-19) could make the day trip a bit hectic. It will depend on the way you like to travel. Routes inside the sanctuary are quite restricted and with strict opening hours so depending if you would like to climb the Huayna Picchu or make a special route is better to get all this information in advance and plan accordingly.

If you are going to Peru, you MUST make the trip to Machu Picchu. We took the train from Ollyantamba to Aguas Calientes (also know as Machu Picchu Pueblo) and then the bus from the town up to the citadel (note: we used Venturia to plan our Machu Picchu excursion and they took care of all reservations, tickets and planning for us including the tour guide). We spent about 3 hours exploring the Machu Picchu citadel and it was truly breathtaking and awe-inspiring. Afterward, we had a lovely lunch at Inkaterra and wandered around the cute backpacker town of Aguas Calientes.

All that this agency does is book the tickets from different vendors to move you from point A to point B. This is not a real tour. Macchu Picchu was amazing and I had a great time but this has nothing to do with the agency. In fact they did not send me any confirmation or details of my trip until I got worried and started calling them. Then multiple different vendors were engaged with different quality just moving people from us to train to bus etc. They did nothing more, no added value you can do the same with anyone else or by buying separate parts on you’re own which is actually way awaited than it looks (if you book the train on time).

Thank you for your comment, it can help us to improve our services and online information. Our Day trip uses many suppliers to do a great experience. VIPAC put all neccesary information online for our customers. Machu Picchu is a remote place, and the logistic is a bit complex. The great value that we offer are our expert and professional guides, and to avoid the wasting time that you need to buy the tickets in each supplier. And you are covered with a liability insurance in your experience. Thank yp again and we hope you have a good time in Peru.

Most of the site is flat and walkable although there are some uneven areas and even a small amount of climbing steps. At this altitude, it may be difficult for some with mobility issues.

Hi Ken. so sorry for the late reply. I hope you had a nice trip to Machu Picchu. Usually they aren't refundable if rains or even the train breaks down. Make sure to get full explanation from the tickets seller... ask all waht you would like before.

Hello. Please help me understand how the new restrictions for maximum number of people allowed to enter each day is being managed by your tour group. As well, as the window to enter is now only an HOUR versus "morning" "afternoon", how can you ensure we can get the train, the bus and the hike completed to be at the right spot for that hour we booked?
"Tickets were formerly for half-day blocks — either morning or afternoon. Now, visitors buy tickets for specific hours.
'If you have a ticket for 10 a.m., you have to enter between 10 and 11 a.m.,' said Bastante, who added that if travelers show up outside of their timeframe, they 'cannot enter.' " This was outlined in a report from CNBC Sept 6 2021 called what-to-know-about-planning-a-trip-to-machu-picchu-after-the-pandemic
Willi

Hi there, unless the restrictions and time frames for visiting the sanctuary have improved, meaning allowing more time... the best for sure is to consider stay overnight in Machu Picchu town... in our case it was very hectic and without the help from our tour operator we'd missed the bus to reach there after the train... bus is the main issue for accessing the marvel. Also the trains are in really bad condition... in our way back to Cusco it broke down and we lost the activity for the next day, because arrived Cusco very late.
Also if you would like to visit the sanctuary including climbing/hiking the nearby mountains (very nice treks) this is not possible in one day trip... access to the hiking trails close early morning (around 9am)...
On the other hand is a place worth to visit once in a lifetime...
