What to expect
After hotel pickup, relax on a scenic drive to the ancient site of Sacsayhuaman, an archeological park perched on the top of a hill. Admire spectacular city views before exploring the UNESCO World Heritage-listed site with your guide; see colossal stones crammed together to create a fortress-like structure. Decipher depictions of condors, pumas, and snakes upon the façade of the temple, enriching your knowledge of the Incan empire.  Return to your coach and continue on to Qenqo, home to an enormous sacrificial altar and sacred temple. See, too, Puca Pucara to discover the atmospheric military ruins of the site then set out to explore Tambomachay, where a series of aqueducts, moats and stolid stonewalls provided impenetrable defense from Incan attackers. Gaze upwards at the impressive Temple of the Sun, an ancient pyramid upon which resides the Convent of Santo Domingo.   Head back to the center of the city to continue your cultural exploration; stroll around the ambient and attractive Plaza de Armas before entering the sacred and spectacular Cusco Cathedral. Admire prismatic stained glass windows, classic colonial art and the Gothic grandeur of the architecture; the cathedral is home to Cusco’s oldest surviving painting, Pintura Senor de los Temblores, among other significant works.  Return to your Cusco hotel in the coach when the tour concludes.

Very relaxed and informative!
Jul 2019
1/2 a day is perfect! Nice way to get used to the altitude while slowly walking through the ruins and learning about the history.
Lots of facts, beautiful views, fresh air. We really enjoyed it!

Very nice tour guide. A little too long for me...

Very informative. I think it could have gone faster and then gave the tourists a chance to revisit some of those things on their own.

Informative but not for a wandering soul
Oct 2019
i thought the tour guide was extremely informative and kind. He was full of knowledge regarding every site we visited. His English was perfect and i had a really good time listening to the history and technological marvels of the Incan civilization.
My only, though major, complain is that I felt like I wasted my money on the entry tickets. When we were at Sacsayhuaman, we didn't get to explore at all. There was a sign for a view point, but we didn't get to go. Based on Google Image, there is a lot to see at the top of Sacsayhuaman, and I didn't get to see that. We literally only saw the walls.
Similar was true at Qenqo. We went through the cave and came right out. There was a trail around it that we didn't explore, and I saw a forest with a view, but we didn't go there either.
All to say, highly recommend for informational purposes. If you are a wanderer like me, who is interested in taking the time to explore each area, this tour is not for you.

Dear Yhdillard, Thank you for taking the time to make this review and sharing your experience with us. As much as we’d love to wander around the visited places, in this particular excursion we find it very restrictive due to distances and time, considering this is a half day tour. We couldn’t appreciate anymore the great comments about our tour guide, these kind of comments are critical in our continuous efforts of providing the best experiences and services. In case there’s further information about any other incident about this excursion please let us know to the following e-mail address: calidad@vipac.pe, we will gladly attend it as soon as possible. Once again, thank you for sharing your experience with us; we will be looking forward to hearing from you . Warm Regards, Quality Department Viajes Pacífico

Wonderful Time
May 2019 • Couples
Sites were very interesting and close by. Seemed to go by very quickly, since we were constantly seeing something new. Very different experience than other day trips from Cusco, which require a lot of driving outside of the city (which are also worthwhile). Many times we hoped on the tour bus for just a few minutes to get to the next site. Very entertaining guide! Highly recommend.

Sacsayhuaman, Fortress of the Incas
May 2019
Considering people were allowed to remove stones well into the 1930's, the basic foundation of this site is still impressive as a former bastion of the Inca's. Unfortunately, the Spanish had more modern weapons and the Inca's fell. The site tops the mountain overlooking Cusco. I took a taxi up (10 Soles) and walked down afterward. Very rewarding to see!

Llamas!
Christa was an amazing guide! She spoke perfect English and could answer any questions thrown her way. In Piscas we stopped by a llama farm where we learned about the difference between llamas and alpacas as well as we got to feed some! Loved hearing about the Inca history and how they built the temple in Oyontitambo. Food was amazing for lunch!! 5 star buffet style food, I sampled everything and it was all so well prepared I almost didn't want to leave so soon.

Great intro to the Cusco area!
Apr 2019 • Couples
This was the first activity we did in Cusco because it was only a half day and local to the city (we were still acclimatizing to the altitude). Our guide Ruben was amazing! He was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging and took several photos of my husband and I throughout the different places we visited. It was a great mix of archeological sites and churches. The pace was great and though it was only a half day, it had a full day feel with everything packed in. The pick up was smooth and the group size was small. Couldn't have asked for better!

Not to be missed ruins in Cusco
Feb 2019
Only a short walk up a very steep hill (or grab a taxi) but these ruins are definitely worth seeing. Go early to avoid the crowds. Some of the best close to Cusco, but obviously nothing compared to Macchu Pichu ;)

Buy from your hotel when you arrive

This tour was great - informative, relaxing, and beautiful views. We paid far less than TripAdvisor's estimated price by paying in cash at our small hotel front desk. We reserved the day before and there were no issues with availability.

Great tour of another incredible archeological site near Cusco
Oct 2018 • Couples
Had a great tour. Our guide, "Yuri"....he's really Peruvian....was knowledgeable, shared lots of insights into the actual sites, Inca culture, possible construction techniques (how can anyone be CERTAIN how they fit such massive stones together so precisely), and overall, made the tour more than just a visit to archeological ruins.
