- sergeig4060 contributionsAmazing experience on a 4-day Inca trail hike to Macchu PicchuUnforgettable experience of hiking the Inca trail to Macchu Picchu. Our guide Francisco has been absolutely amazing, deep diving into Inca history, including different theories that exist about the purpose of the buildings that we encountered on the way. He was very attentive to our pace. We never felt rushed and still made it to the sun gate among the first couple of groups. The team of porters have been absolute super heroes, running the trek with the heavy load, cooking amazing food and making us feel home.Written October 20, 2024

- andreahF961QF0 contributionsAmazing and unforgettable experienceWe had an amazing time trekking the Inca trail to Machu Picchu. As a first time camper, I felt safe knowing we were in good hands. Thanks to our awesome guide Francisco who is very knowledgeable of the mountain trail, Inca culture and history. He made it fun for us and was very personable to everyone. He would definitely be one if not the best guide out there! Also special mention to our hardworking porters Nassario, Juan Karlos and Agapito who got our tents ready for resting after a full day of trekking and prepared meals to fill up our energy. Machu Picchu is such a sight to behold and the experience would not have been complete if it wasn’t for these beautiful people who supported us both rain or shine. We were very lucky that the sun was out and bright on Day 4, Machu Picchu showed up from the Sun Gate. Pachamama delivered! ☀️Written October 18, 2024

This Salkantay Trek is truly beautiful. This is a much less crowded trail than the Inca trail but the sights one gets to see are very beautiful. 5 days walking and finally get to Machu Picchu was the best reward!

The whole experience is so well organised and fully in control by the members of the staff and very professional guides, cooks and carriers. They taught us so much about Peruvian/Inkan/ketyuan culture, nature, food and the way of life in the highlands and in the Amazonian jungl. The trekking is tough and the altitude sickness can be tricky but the guide will do everything to help and guide with their great experience.
Our guide was Edwin who did all he could to make it the best experience of our life. While the cook Melquiades did nice traditional food and woke us up with tea,.
We became great friends with our guides as they are not only great and professional at their work but also great people who will help you with everything and make it a nice and safe journey towards one of the most amazing places that the Machu Picchu is.
We are so thankful for having Edwin and Melquiades as they made it a great trip for the three of us. As we were only three friends doing the trip together we grew closely together and had an amazing experience with our guides.
The Salkantay trek and the company and guides are highly recommendable!
Kind regards,
Lukas, Nicolai and Oliver from Denmark

We had a fantastic trip in a small group consisting of 3 participants, our guide Anderson and our chef Jorge. It was a tiring but equally impressive trip. The whole tour was very well planned and everything worked smoothly. Our guide Anderson told us a lot about the flora and fauna along the way, the history of the inca and the life in peru today. He always paid attention to all team members. The food in the trip was always delicious. We saw so many beautiful landscapes on this Trek. And at the last day we were one of the first in the morning (6 p.m.) arriving at Machu Picchu, without many tourists and a beautiful sunrise - an unforgettable experience. Thanks to our tour-operator Bamba and especially to our Guide Anderson and our chef Jorge.

We did the 5 days Salkantay Trip. This tour was excellent! The nature landscapes during the hikes were amazing. We did the trip with a small group of 5 people.
The team from Bamba was excellent! Our Tourguide Edwin was very ambitious about the trek. He told us a lot interesting Facts during the hike. Especially the tour at Machu Picchu was very interesting. He knew a lot about it.
The rest of the team was also very nice and helpful. Mr. Grimaldo cooked very good Food. He cooked very tasty vegetarian Food, especially for me.
I can highly recommend to do this trip with Bamba and especially with Edwin and mr. Grimaldo.

We took the 6days/5nights tour with Edwin. It was a great experience, as the whole Team from Bamba looked after us very well, cooked perfect food (thanks to Mr Grimaldo) and was very supportive. The landscape was just beautiful. Our guide gave many Information during the trip. Especially at Machu Picchu, we enjoyed his personal tour through the inca village and got (thanks to him) a great impression of this historical, amazing spot. We really recommend this trip and would book this tour, and especially this guide, again.

So glad our friend sparked our interest to go on this trip. Before the hike, I thought the main highlight of the trip would be getting to Machu Picchu but all the scenery we encountered throughout the trek surpassed what we saw in one day at Machu Picchu. I truly feel like our tour guide (Vidal) made this experience far more memorable. He did a great job keeping the group together but also was able to challenge each individual. He had a wealth of information about the history of the mountains, jungle, culture and Machu Picchu. He was great at keeping the trip moving without feeling rushed along. He encouraged us to go off the trail a little bit to see certain sites while keeping an eye on my mother and father in law who would have struggled on the path we took. The trail we took was surprisingly quite. At times it seemed like we were the only group out there. The trek was by no means easy and altitude sickness is a real thing. I got some headaches throughout the trek but nothing major. Try your best to acclimate (we only had 2 days to do so) before starting the trek. On the trail, you have a chef and two helpers that move along on the trail ahead of your group. The food was surprisingly good being that they had to pack everything we would eat for the 5 days. You will not be hungry on this trip! Typically I am a snacker and each meal you had a 4-5 course meal that was healthy and filling at the same time. I have already recommended this trip to a friend and cant wait to hear all about her experience.

Everything was arranged impeccably well by the team at Bamba and managed efficiently and painlessly by our guide Diego.
It always felt like there was a plan and that we were being well looked after. Diego provided insightful and interesting commentary along the way but also left us to enjoy the walk and the scenery at our own pace.
The food prepared by Adrian was delicious and filling and it was unbelievable what he was able to provide in camping conditions.
The facilities along the way were fine. There was always somewhere to buy water and snacks. There were good toilets at every campsite and we even managed to have a warm shower on the afternoon of our second day.
Overall it was a great experience and I would highly recommend Bamba and Diego to anyone considering this trek.

We have had an unforgettable trek with the help of Bamba Travel Inca Trail to Salkantay! Cesar and Junior were great guides, because they paid attention to everyone, to make sure everyone feels good during the hike. The feeling all in all the kind of view was tremendous and there could be no second thoughts into that. Bamba is the way to go!

Great experience to do the 5 day trekking! Salkantay trek has amazing views and continuously changing surroundings! The guide Anderson knows so much about the wildlife, history and culture that it was a big addition to our experience. So big shout out to him for the awesome time he gave us! Also Carlos was amazing with his delicious cooking skills, which resulted in a 3 meal course for lunch and dinner with local products!
Overall very good trip, which is more that worth your time and everything well arranged!

hi what's the difference between your 5 day and 4 day salkantay trek?
Written January 3, 2019
On the 4 day Salkantay Trek, we will walk through the same beautiful and scenic landscapes as the 5 day Trek. The difference is that we will climb to the Salkantay Pass on the first day of the trek instead of the morning of the 2nd day. We will also stay in different campsites along the trail than the 5 day Trek. We recommend this trek to people who have less available time in Cusco but still want to experience the amazing scenery of the Salkantay Trek.
On the 5 day Salkantay Trek, you will have more time to relax and take things a bit more slowly than the 4 day trek. This trek is recommended if you have more time and do not want to hike for as long during the first few days of the trek.
Above is what I found on website explaining the difference.Based on the 5 day trek I did and being able to do an additional little hike the first day to the lake it was challenging enough, can’t imagine trying to get to the pass that first day. Also helped to climatize a bit more.
