- Tour517589758480 contributionsGreat hike away from the crowdsI found this tour by accident, and I didn’t regret to book it. On the first and the last day, we saw a lot of people on the descent and ascent to and from the bottom of the canyon. But the rest of the time, we were alone in the nature. The 2nd day we hiked from the bottom of the canyon to the waterfall, which was quite challenging, as I was not yet completely adapted to the altitude. But it was worth it. The waterfall is beautiful, we were completely alone there and on top of it we saw some condors flying. Willmar was a great guide with a lot of knowledge about the area and its nature. And he organized some nice places to sleep (with also good food)Written January 6, 2024
- N9894OJluiss0 contributionsUna gran experiencia con un gran guia. A great experience with a great guide. On July 3rd, I started my four-day trek in the Colca Canyon with Peru Breathtaking Trips. Weeks before starting my trek, I had contacted several tourist agencies in Arequipa via email from the United States, some did not answer me, and some did so too late and with very vague information. The only person who answered me on time and gave me detailed information about the trek was Wilmar from Peru Breathtaking Trips; Wilmar was very communicative and detailed everything necessary. Once in Arequipa, the trek began without any setbacks; my guide was Vladimir, a great person with great geological knowledge of the area and knowledge of the pre-Hispanic and contemporary history of the region. The four-day trek is the best way to get to know the Colca Canyon since they take you along wonderful paths to Llatica and the great Huaruro waterfall, which is not visited in a two- or three-day trek. If you want to do this trek or another excursion around Arequipa, I highly recommend Peru Breathtaking Trips; I assure you that you will not be disappointed and your visit will be more pleasant.Written July 21, 2023
- canadachad0 contributionsColca Canyon Bike TourCompleted the Colca Canyon bike tour lead by our adventurous and spirited leader Wilmar Diaz - would definitely recommend! Wil made sure our bikes were sized and in good condition, varied the riding and routes based on our skills and abilities as we traversed the Colca Canyon from high elevations to the bottom canyon floor. In addition to mountain biking, we took in hot springs, local music and food, and stayed at comfortable lodging. Wil is very knowledgeable about the area and the its history, and his fluency in multiple languages is impressive. Our overall party was four people and included our leader and guide (Wil), our driver (Ulysses), and two of us on bikes. The size worked great. If you're seeking to break out of the larger cities while in Peru and experience its beautiful landscape and culture by bike, this tour is for you.Written January 30, 2023

- nataliamI2012QW0 contributionsThe best trip with the BEST guideI just finished a tour in the Colca Canyon. The company provided top service and the guide Will was the best. He was always telling nice stories about Peru and his sense of humor is adorable. No words to describe when we saw the condors flying above my head. The hotel chosen was very comfortable, and nearby all the activities such as hot springs, zip lining and observatory. If you visit Colca canyon, have Will as your guide. PS: I had a private tourWritten June 28, 2022
- LaTigre740 contributionsWonderful experienceOur last minute decision to add Arequipa and Colca canyon to our Peru trip was made perfect by Peru Breathtaking Trip. Thanks to the super attentive and knowledgeable Wilmar, we had a great time in both Cities. It was amazing seeing the Vicuña, and Guanaco in the wild during the drive from Arequipa to Colca canyon and back. The astonishing "showcase" putting together by the Andean condors on top of the canyon were indeed breathtaking. Highly recommended!Written June 26, 2022
- thibautren0 contributionsFrom Arequipa to CuscoWe spent 5 days to visit Colca Valley & Titicaca lake from Arequipa to Puno. Our guide Wilmar made it memorable as he always shared great stories and advised on the best places to go (viewpoints, local restaurants and bars). We had a wonderful time and would recommend anyone visiting this region to book the tours with this friendly agency !Written August 10, 2021
- MeLegra0 contributionsUnforgettable journeyAfter searching online we decided to book tours with this agency because of the reviews and they didn't let us down. Originally we just wanted a trek in the Colca Canyon but after some discussion we decided to book some more activities and our 14-day Adventure Tour ended up being fantastic. Wilmar who speaks good English and as a surprise to us he also speaks good French, made the whole tour a great experience. He did travel and trek the Andes with us showng us the best of the country. The highest score for the agency and Wilmar.Written February 11, 2020
- madpom0 contributions5 star ++++After reading the TA reviews, we contacted this company several months before our trip to South America. Wilmar Diaz is the proprietor, and really the sole trader. His reviews on TA were outstanding, and so we asked him to work with us, planning our trip, booking our hotels, entrance tickets and trains etc. We wanted the freedom of a private tour, without paying the high prices charged by larger companies for a small group tour. From go to whoa, Wilmar was very patient with us - especially considering we changed our minds about going to the Amazon. (We did that after learning about the increased potential perils for the over 60s having a Yellow Fever injection.) We emailed to and fro about the itinerary, then the quality of the hotels we would want. A 50% deposit was paid into Wilmar’s Peruvian bank (via OFX - easy!) - the deposit was refundable more than 30 days out from the trip. The rest we paid a month out. (Note the Peruvian bank charges US$50 for each transaction.) Wilmar met us at Cusco Airport, and for the next 11 days he ensured everything was well nigh perfect. Machu Picchu, Cusco, the Pullman train to Puno, a day on Lake Titicaca (in a 30 seater boat with only us as passengers!), the condors of Colca Canyon, the white city of his home town of Arequipa. (I’ve reviewed all of the above, and our excellent choice of hotels, separately, if you’re interested.) We were extremely at ease with Wilmar throughout - his English was truly excellent, he had a great sense of humour, and his knowledge and understanding of the Inca period was first class. He is used to taking younger people trekking at serious altitude, so we were easy clients for him in many ways - but he made allowances for our slower pace, and never tried to hurry us. Indeed, our itinerary was deliberately relaxed, with plenty of down time built in. (As it turned out, it was ideal.) All the drivers he used were experienced and safe - and the vehicles mostly 12-seater buses of the type that pervade Peru. We could not recommend Wilmar more highly - whatever your itinerary, age, and fitness level. And the cost: US$7000, with lunches, dinners and tips extra. We were happy. Happy to take questions .....Written July 26, 2019
- TimRCA0 contributionsCotahuasy Canyon tour = ExcelentSome time ago we were deciding what to visit nin Arequipa. Of course Colca canyon came as the most popular destination after the city itself. We found this company online, and we asked if they had other tours outside of Colca Canyon. Wilmar who ended up being our guide recommended Cotahuasy Canyon. The journey starts in Arequipa, drives along the Panamericana highway, stops at Toro muerto site of ancient carved rocks, and passes by the amazing Coropuna mountain where you can get extraordinary shots. Once in the town, we visited the waterfall(forgot the name), the hot springs and the little towns. On the way back we took the other side of Coropuna mountain(bumpy road). Those days were filled with calm, nature and fun. Do not forget to try local wine/pisco down in Cotahuasy. Highly recommended for those craving adventure off the beaten pathWritten July 2, 2019
- CR92-travel0 contributionsLong, but great day.We were lucky to have Wilmer as our guide, his English was incredible and he made the day very interesting. He asks the group what they are interested in, so skips something if people don’t want to do something and adds more stuff that people prefer eg more time walking and enjoying the views. I was horrendously sick on the bus (maybe something I ate the day before). He had plenty of bags and even dropped us off at a hotel for an hour to relax and for me to recover before the proper start of the tour. The tour went to the main highlights of Colca Canyon and we were lucky to see the condors in flight. The place we went for lunch was actually really tasty with a big, good quality buffet. The driver was very safe at all times. Very affordable company (some others were charging a ridiculous amount). Only thing to improve on would be booking - payment wouldn’t work online so Wilmer had to meet us in person the day before. Overall, I would recommend this company :)Written June 21, 2019

- PKnoop0 contributionsAmazing time in Colca CanyonMy sister and I visited Peru last January. After some research we booked some excursions with this company. We couldn't be happier by the whole experience. It all started with the Colca Canyon tour where we met Wilmar who was a great and funny guide, not to forget that he is very knowledgeable. We knew that coming to Peru in summer involves rainy days but we were lucky with the weather. We also visited the Toro Muerto site which a very interesting place full of enigmatic shapes, this visite was combined with Pisco tasting. Way very interesting day Highly recommned company.Written February 22, 2019

The vans were very comfy and big enough for us. The drivers so careful on this mountain roads, the guide Wilmar was great and explained lots of interesting things about Peru. We wish we could have spent more days in Peru.Written January 3, 2019
- Pg90410 contributionsFrom Arequipa to Cusco with Peru Breathtaking TripsFrom 25 Oct till 2 Nov 2018, Wilmar was our guide who took us to so many spectacular places like Colca Canyon, Mirador Cruz del Condor, Lake Titicaca, the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and many lookout points that took our breath away. The whole private tour was well organised and Wilmar is there to advice us on how to deal with high altitude and to fill us with interesting information of all the places we visited. Wilmar is a fun person to travel with and I would strongly recommend Peru Breathtaking Trips to anyone who wishes to visit Peru.Written November 20, 2018

One of the best decisions I’ve ever made was booking this 3 day trek with Peru Breathtaking Trips. I’m always a little cautious when booking these sort of things myself, but when I met my guide Wilmar I knew I had nothing to worry about. The entire trip was well planned; his experience in trekking, guiding tours, and impressive knowledge of the area really made the experience more worthwhile. He easily assessed how to pace out our trekking based on my abilities and was very helpful and encouraging when I struggled with a bout of altitude sickness, which I think was the only negative to this entire trip.
The food I got to try and people I met hosting the lodges and throughout the villages/communities were all amazing and I’ll never forget the kindness and generosity I was shown. I highly recommend this agency and trekking trip if you’re adventuring in Peru!

I had an amazing time hiking Colca Canyon for 3 days. The views were breathtaking, hiking was fun & challenging, food was delicious, and my guide Wilmar was very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend! If you have the time, 3 days felt like a good amount of time and you have more time to enjoy afternoons in the canyon. 2 days is quick but efficient if you are on a tight schedule. On a more serious note it can sometimes be stressful as a solo lady traveler and Wilmar made me feel very safe and was nothing but professional.

We were picked up by our guide Wilma from Puno and travelled by mini-van to the Colca Canyon for a private tour for a couple of days. There were 3 of us in the group, and we had just finished the 4 day Inca trail a couple of days before, and now continued to embark on the southern part of our travels in Peru.
(For those travelling from Puno to Arequipa who want a more flexible schedule than the bus services offered, hiring a car service as part of the package as we had could be a good option, especially if there are a few in the group to split the expense.)
Along our 5-6 hour journey, Wilma regaled us with interesting historical and cultural anecdotes about the people, and the flora and fauna from every region. We immediately appreciated his English proficiency as we learned that he spent several years at a university in Arequipa to earn his tourism degree, which made interacting with him a pleasure.
After a night’s rest at our Hotel (Colca Lodge), we were picked up the next morning and driven to see the condors, at La Cruz del Condor. Fortunately, we were blessed with the ideal condor gliding weather, as we were able to see 3 or 4 condors in a matter of less than an hour, and some flew within several feet of us. After lunch and returning to the hotel, we went on a light guided hike to Yanque. As we were still suffering from the effects of the strenuous Inca trail, Wilma was very accommodating and understanding during our hike as we definitely took less than a thunderous pace!
The next day, we headed back to Arequipa, and en route we dropped into Chivay for a quick visit to the main square and the market.
Even though we only had a couple of days at the Canyon, with the help of Wilma, we were able to soak in some of the culture and marvel at the unending stunning vistas. Certainly, our time was much enriched by our humorous and affable guide, who was always quick with a smile or story. Spending time interacting with him at our lunches and bus rides became as much of a highlight as any other sites on the trip!
So, without hesitation, I highly recommend Wilma and Peru Breath taking Tours to anyone planning a trip to Peru.
Buen Viaje!

We came across Peru Breathtaking Trips when frantically searching for a transfer between Arequipa and Yanque after I discovered that car rentals were all closed when we would be returning to Arequipa. So a week before we were heading to Peru we got in contact with a couple of companies. Wilmar was fast to respond and extremely helpful in setting something up. Not only were we able to arrange transportation with him, but we also put together a 3 day tour of the region. It included a lot of the standards, Vicuna spotting, Colca Canyon, etc, but as a private tour we were able to get a lot more out of each of the experiences. Wilmar was also very impressively versed in the area and was able to give us so much interesting information as we went along. My only regret is that we didn't speak Spanish so we weren't able to communicate as much as I would have liked with our driver. However, Wilmar's English was great. It was a great trip.

I can't say enough about this 3 day trip to Colca Canyon to see the headwaters of the mighty Amazon River at 16,877' on Nevado Mismi with Wilmar Dias and our driver Hermano.
Wil patiently answered our hundreds of questions and Hermano heroically drove us through all the rough dirt roads. I'm so pleased I chose Peru Breathtaking Trips as we traveled places in the 4x4 that the big tour buses never go. The family stay in Sibayo was delightful, with gracious hosts and great meals, we learned a lot about the local culture as well as the Inca culture.

we booked the private tour, with the Peru Breathtaking, a 3 days 2 nights trip from Arequipa to the Colca Canyon region :-) before the trip my wife looked up the info via Trip Advisor, ran info this Tour Agent, I was a bit doubtful if it's reliable to find a good operator via on-line ? her decision finally !!! the trip turned out to be a very memorable one :-) Wilmar, the guide, was nice, very R eliable, knowledge ! he is a young, yet mature man who know how to take care his customer ^_^ one thing we appreciate is that he won't "overdone" when he was trying to "brief" us the tourist attraction information, yet, when we found it interesting to inquire more in-depth, he was enthusiastic to tell us more, we learned a lot from him about the incan culture, the peruvian way of life ! on our way from Arequipa to Colca (1st day), the driver Huber, took a alternate road that was bumpy (roads condition), but we found it worthwhile as Wilmar took us to a mountain outlook, a easy hike, to see an ancient Incan cave, where we saw a lot of ancient walls paintings, in hindsight, we didn't believe the site, with such high value anthropologically, is so easily accessible without anyone to man it, not to mention any proper signage or entrance -.- Wilmar told us that he didn't bring every visitor here , it depends on the weather, the way he budget the time, we didn't ask him the details of his itinerary logistic behind, but we feel really thankful that we were there :-) the driver Huber, can't speak English, but he is a lovely young man too !

We did a 3 day tour of the Colca Canyon. The guide Wilmer has an encyclopaedic knowledge of history and flora and fauna of the area. Very easy going and a well paced tour. Time spent admiring the view and the fauna was a real treat. The driver was very safe and the car new and clean. Would highly recommend.
