          Only Juanita matters
The main attraction in this small museum is "Juanita" which is not a mummy as many have written, but a frozen corpse of a 12-14-year-old girl that was sacrificed at the top of mountain Ampato, around 500 years ago. The corpse is shown inside a three-layer glass box to keep it frozen. It is removed to a dark place every six months and replaced by "Sarita", another frozen corpse which is not as impressive. The six remaining rooms in the museum contain small objects that are kept as they were found, with little or no restoration. They are mostly of interest to specialists. No photos are allowed, even without a flash. This can be understood for "Juanita" or "Sarita" for obvious reasons, but not for the rest of the museum. The entry price paid by foreigners is high for what there is to see in the small museum, moreover, you can only visit with a tour guide (payment not included). You could eventually skip the visit.

Nice, low cost half day tour of Arequipa
This is a very economical half day tour of Arequipa. There was great communication from the organizer via WhatsApp. We were told what to pack and exactly what the cost of the extra admissions would be. We were met at our hotel on time and escorted to the bus pick up location which was a 2 block walk. The bus is double decker with a cover. We had reserved seats which is nice. There are 5 stops. In my opinion, the first 4 are worthwhile, especially the 3rd one, but the last one, which is supposed to be a museum (contains 2 artifacts) is not worth the 10 sols entrance fee unless you want your picture next to a 200 year old willow tree and want to see a very large fighting bull. The tour covers a lot of ground in a short time and does not stay in any one location for very long. The guide was really great. I benefitted from the English portion. The bus sound system is not so good so it can be difficult to hear the guide while the bus is moving. The guide goes with you into each of the locations to further explain what you ate seeing. The tour ends a few blocks from the Plaza de Armes so you are not brought back to the pickup.

          Amazing lanscape with professional crew
What an amazing trip. Peter our guide and Persi our driver were very professional. The guide explained as alot about the story of the area and is quite interesting. You have more than enough stops to do pictures, shopping an brakes. Be ready for a long drive. The tour starts from arequipa with posibility to end in Puno or back to arequipa

          Just awesome!
Salinas salt lagoon is incredibly beautiful. I was there during the rainy season so it’s not white but instead a big mirror. Our guide Elli was super knowledgeable and could answer all our questions about the region and the lagoon itself. Since we were only two guests, the whole tour was super flexible and tailored to our wishes. I can highly recommend this tour - it’s worth every penny :-)

Enjoyable visit but doesn’t beat Uyuni
My partner and I did the salt lagoon visit with Arequipa Tour when it looked like we wouldn’t get to Uyuni because of the Bolivian riots. The personalised tour was pretty good and I enjoyed that it did not feel rushed in any way; we were able to stop en route whenever we wanted and got to spend a decent amount of time at the salinas. Unexpectedly, we also had the best avocado I have ever had in my life at lunchtime! The salinas themselves were very nice to look at and seen fairly expansive once you are in the middle of them. We were able to take some nice photos and enjoyed walking across them. However, make sure you go after a period of good weather as if not the salt can be a bit grey. Unfortunately, this was the case with us and our guide wouldn’t stop talking about how much better it had been the week before..! In relation to our guide: Elly was very enthusiastic and knowledgable so it was on the whole good to have her as our guide. However, my partner found it confusing that the tour was carried out in a kind of Spanglish (ie sentences variously in English and in Spanish, sometimes both in the same sentence). This may have had something to do with the fact that I speak both and perhaps Elly enjoyed speaking both too. Finally, as a minor point, we didn’t appreciate when we were having a casual conversation during our walk and Elly stated that she would never want to marry a European man because she doesn’t like Europeans. We are both European (which she knew) so that opinion should probably have been kept to herself. Overall, I would recommend this tour if you don’t have time to see any other salt flats while in South America. However, it is expensive (we paid $95 each for a private tour) and definitely doesn’t compare to Uyuni (which we got to see in the end)!

          City Tour great experience
The tour was wonderful! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and had the curtesy to give each of us a pin with the Escude de Arequipa All the places we visited were fabulous and one can spend more time in each of them. My only suggestion us to tell the visitors to bring a snack. We tried “Choclo con queso” corn and cheese which was delicious!!

          Not satisfying
The tour wasn‘t as nice as expected. It is too expensive for what it was! The bus drive to Chivay was Okay although our guide Herman was not very enthousiastic as if he wouldn‘t really like to be there. When we arrived in Chivay, a local came to pick us up with the horse. The guide didn’t speak with us during the whole trip, he wouldn’t have given any information if we wouldnt have asked. His answers were always very short. Although we spoke in Spanish with him! The equipment for the riding was very uncomfortable. The trip to the Condor Cross was nice and we saw lots of them. The drive back to arequipa was horror! The driver Hector was very tired and I saw his eyes getting smaller and smaller in the mirror. As the road is very dangerous, I didn‘t feel safe at all. The guide fell asleep next to the driver. After I asked the driver to make a toilet break (not in order that I can pee but in order that he gets the break he definetley needed) But after the break, it wasn‘t better. I told our guide that I can see that the driver is tired and that it would maybe be a good idea to keep him awake. He laughed at me and told the driver 2 minutes later what I ve said (they didnt know I understand spanish!!) They laughed about me but the driver knew that I was right. He put some coca leaves in his mouth, put his glasses on and opened the window to stay awake...My critic is that he should have taken a break and the guide shouldn‘t sleep next to him but speak to him. It is his responsibility that his clients feel safe and..survive!! I wouldn‘t recommend this tour.

          Highly Recomend !
Hello Everyone. I must say I have high expectations and I was surely not let down. I'm from the USA and we decided to not only see: - Colca Canyon - Origins of the Amazon (Pedro) - Salt Lagoon ( Elida ) but the names in parenthese are the guides you MUST ask for. They were amazing ! Price was the best too!

          Great experience
I had a great experience. Some days before the tour, I have been contacted by a viator employee (Gloria). She made sure all my questions were answered. They come to pick you up from your hotel/airbnb and then we had the long bus ride with multiple stops to see the Alpacas, Llamas and Vigognas. I was surprised because I was the only English speaker in the group. Most of the people were from different areas in Peru and doing the tour during their vacation. The guide was always speaking in Spanish, but she made sure I understood correctly and translated if I needed. The view was a little bit repetitive, but nice. We arrived at Chivay in the beginning of the afternoon and surprisingly, I was the only one of the group doing the horseback riding activity. It was my first time, but the local guide helped me. I had a very easygoing horse (12 years old named Roco). The view was amazing. The day after we spent some time in the Colca Canyon and again the view was amazing, but repetitive. We only saw 4-5 condors. It was very touristic as well and be careful if you are altitude sensitive. I recommend this activity.

          A perfect day !
With Elly (the guide) and Esteban (the driver), we spent a perfect day seeing beautiful landscapes and animals (Lamas, guanacos, vigognas, alpagas, pink flamingos, ...). Thanks to both of them !

          Incredible Tour company in Arequipa
This is only company to choose when booking tours out of Arequipa! Gloria was amazing and set up the exact experience we wanted - she is very trustworthy, professional and exceeded our expectations. Our guide Carlos was Incredible - very knowledgeable and extremely professional we really enjoyed his company and seeing the Canyon with him. The driver Estefan was also top notch - very friendly, also very knowledgeable about the region, a great driver and super competent. I would only book with Arequipa Tour Tour Company in the future

A genuinely unique experience although not for the faint-hearted or the altitude sensitive.
The driver and guide were excellent. Our group was formed from various agencies. Very thorough advice was given on how to overcome altitude sickness. Get also prepared for motion sickness!!!! Getting to the Colca Canyon is about hours of zigzagging up and down gigantic mountains with dangerous curves, hence the amazing skills of the driver! The sites are breathtaking! The hotel in Chivay was acceptable. The horse-ride was ok. A two-hour in total, the landscapes were amazing but repetitive throughout. The canyon is majestic and so are the condors! Everything was timely and very well organized! Be prepared ;-)

this is a trustworthy tour operator 如果大家在阿雷基帕找去大峡谷的团,这一家是不错的选择
well, online and offline, you have many options in Arequipa for the same tour to Colca Canyon, yet the prizes vary from USD 100 to USD 200. I Chose "Arequipa Tour" because they offer a fair prize, and because I don't want to go to the hot spring and they are the only one I found that offers an alternative: horse riding. Owner of the agency Gloria is a genuine person ans she takes case of everything. I was especially sastisfied with the hotel she arranged for me in Chivay, a good rest and a good breakfast are very important regarding the high altitude.

An ok trip but a few too many stops to buy local trader’s gifts. Also the optional thermal baths looked uninviting so we gave that a miss. The breakfast was average at best and the optional buffet lunch was expensive for what was provided. Nice to see the canyon and condors though.

Dear Customer Thanks for your comments it help us to improve. The points of stops are the best viewpoints in the Colca Valley and at each point the local people sell. We stop for the viewpoints not so much for the stores.

My girlfriend Tori and I went on this tour. We got picked up at the hotel on time and the bus was nice. Driver and the host were nice and knowledgeable however we found it to be a very long day for what you get out of it. The ‘breakfast included was just coffee/tea and a couple bread rolls with jam and you had to pay 2 soles more for a small portion of eggs. And then when you get to the various stops you have 10-15 minutes for the view and pictures and an hour for the main condor viewing. We went to the hot springs as well and they were relaxing although very unclean and didn’t look like they were maintained well (you get 45mins total).

We are a very easygoing couple and it wasn’t the worst day however we just found that it’s A-LOT of sitting on the bus for a couple views and you’re gone from 2AM to 5PM which in hindsight we feel it would’ve been better to do other things around Arequipa or a shorter tour for what we got out of it.

An early morning pickup at our hotel in a very nice van started the day. By 5amwe had been in the van for two hours, ou4 first stop was at 15000 ft elevation. It was a bit cool as we watched the vendors setting up their booths. We saw the column of stea: rising from an active volcano. We continued onward. Our breakfast stop featured great coffee and lots of food. By the time we reached theCanyon we were ready to stretch our legs. That we did as the Condors soared overhead.
On the trip up which was done in darkness I had the illusion we were hugging the side of a mountain. No we had traversed a large large plateau.

great views of the edge of the andes, the condors, and all, at a high risk of losing your life.
the trip there is too dangerous given the drivers and road conditions.
we booked a one day trip tour (got picked up at 3am) and we were sitting on the first seats of the bus
the bus kept overtaking slower vehicles, on double yellow, near turns and crests, with no guardrail next to cliffs.
google colca tour bus accidents before you book any tours to be aware of just how dangerous this trip is.
even if the tour bus driver uses common sense and not over take where dangerous and maintain safe speed, there are too many unsafe drivers with heavy equipment that can collide with your and ruin your day if not your life.
also, the bus was traveling between 60-90kph, cutting the turns (apexing them as if we were in a race car). I asked him why he did that and he said to save the brakes and to make it to the condors in time. at one point on the way back we hit snow and ice on one side of the road, (5000 meter elevation) and the bus slid sideways for a good 200 yards before the driver regained control. I felt VERY unsafe and will definitely not recommend this trip under this conditions.

This was a no go! Way too far in a crappy bus for only two viewpoints. The tourguide spoke mostly Spanish so half of the time we had no clue what was going on. We had to pay €25 pp to get into Chivay and lunch was not cheap either.
Someone had to throw up in the van and we also felt sick ourselves. Not worth it.

Dear Yvonne We are sorry that you have that concept of our tour. Our van is a tourist Van (Mercedes Benz 2018) is always clean and suitable for tourist I think the adjective that you used does not really apply. About 25euros that really is less (18 euros pp approximately) but this is not for us and rather is to help local people is a tax to entry the Colca Canyon and everybody pay. Our tour guide is bilingual and speaks English and Spanish during the all explanations, however we will work to improve this aspect. Finally, I want to tell you that the title in your comment is no according with your comment, I think you could you have written another title according to your criticisms or observations.

You cannot do a 1-day tour of Colca Canyon in 1 day. We always do it yearly in August as a 2-Day Trip! You MUST be at the Canyon's Miradors (Lookout points) by 7-8 am. The Cruz del Condor on Aug 30 and 31 were WAY too busy with 100s to 1000s of tourists. We stopped at one outside Cabanaconde and then one after Cruz del Condor. it worked out VERY well. Beat my expectations, thought it'd be much worse but was definitely worth it for how cheap it is. Better then expected.

Nice trip with several different and wonderful landscapes. You can see lamas, Alpacas and condors. Awesome trip!

The weather was cloudy and there was some fog, but the guide managed to move the bus while looking at the sky so we could see the condors, so we were able to see them at a place that wasn't a viewpoint.
thank you very much. It was a very fulfilling tour.
