This was a fun side experience when we were in Arequipa with a tour. We ditched a tour of the cathedral to learn how to make Causa and Loma Saltado. The instructor was easy to understand, the equipment in good shape, and fresh ingredients. Ebenezer participated and has a good time. You get to enjoy the fruits of your labors at the end, along with a simple dessert. They send you the recipe by email so you don't have to worry about taking notes.

It was very interesting, we learned how to cook three dishes. Moreover the chef told us many interesting story about Peruvian cooking and food culture. After the lesson we enjoy the food we cooked together. Amazing!
We did our lesson in the afternoon (4pm) and it was a bit cold to cook and eat outside, I suggest to bring with you some warm jacket to enjoy better.

We have learned to cook 2 traditional Peruvian dishes. They are easy to do and the ingredients are also available in every country so it is easy to recreate the dishes (they also send you the recipes afterwards). Our chef was super helpful and attentive. We had a lot of fun! I would definitely recommend this experience to everyone visiting Arequipa!:)

And remember, you prepare your own food. This is a hands-on activity. Recipes are planned for you to learn them and repeat the preparation with your beloveds back in your country. It´s a cultural souvenir from Perú to our visitors. Shure, you will remember us every time you repeat the recipes. Thanks for your visit and welcome anytime!

I love cooking and included my travel partners who don’t really cook in the Arequipa / Casa de Avila / Peruvian cooking experience as we needed at least 4 people to be able to do it. They weren’t too keen but humoured me. But at the end of the day I don’t know which one of us enjoyed it more. I really enjoyed our host as he is a great story teller, sharing the history of Arequipa and Peru, which we found really interesting. Loved the food, including the prep, cooking and eating. Good value for money as we made a Causa starter and Lomo Saltado main meal. Delicious. Had lots of laughs. Enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and loved the hotel. This is not a serious cooking class - it is a delightful experience. Would do it again and absolutely recommend it. Thank you to our awesome host - you added a memorable highlight in our trip.

What a fun experience for our family of 6. We learned so much about Peruvian cooking and ingredients. The instructions were easy to follow and we loved our instructor, Cristina. The food was customized for the vegetarian in our group, which was perfect. The setting is lovely and the food we made was delicious! Highly recommend!

My husband and I participated in this experience in late May, so we could do the lesson in the outdoor terrace of the property, a lovely setting. It was a very small group, perfect to learn the new recipes but also have a chance to exchange a few words during the dinner.
The chef that led us throught out Peruvian menu not only shared some of his cooking secrets, but also interesting facts about Peruvian cuisine and how it evolved over the centuries and sometimes got transformed due to foreign innovations.
We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience, the quality of the ingredients was great and the final results delicious (we are very proud :) ). Also loved receiving the recipes and pictures of the evening afterwards.
