Itinerary

Day 1: Santa Cruz Highlands and El Chato Reserve

Stop At: Reserva El Chato, Isla Santa Cruz, Puerto Ayora 200350 Ecuador
Your guide will greet you in the arrivals area of the airport. After a short bus and ferry crossing over the Itabaca Canal, you will make your way in to the highlands of Santa Cruz.
As you venture into Santa Cruz's higher altitude areas, you will notice the changes in the vegetation as the climate becomes wetter and warmer. The earth in the upper altitudes is rich in minerals. Coffee plantations and fruit orchards line the streets and giant tortoises roam around at ease in their natural environment. The Scalesia forests in this area offer the opportunity to discover endemic species of the Galapagos Islands, as well as giant cacti and a variety of deciduous trees and edible fruits.
At the turtle reserve El Chato, you will see the Galapagos giant tortoises in their natural habitat. Nowhere else will you get so close to those animals! (Please maintain the minimum distance!)
Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Charles Darwin Research Station, Ave Charles Darwin, Puerto Ayora 200350 Ecuador
At Charles Darwin Station, you will get a chance to learn more about the friendly giants that you met in the highlands in the morning. Here, scientists from around the world research the many special tortoise subspecies that are endemic to the Galapagos islands. The highlight of the research center is the breeding station, Fausto Llerena, where baby turtles take a training course over rocks, branches and sandy stairs in preparation for their upcoming release into the wilderness.
Visitors leave the station with a stronger understanding of the tortoises, iguanas and much of the flora native to the islands. You'll be impressed by the tiny tortoises, often only the size of your hand, who will grow over the next 100 years to become as large as the wild adults you saw this morning!
Duration: 2 hours

No meals included on this day.
Accommodation included: Accommodation in a 3 star hotel

Day 2: North Seymour and Las Bachas Beach

Stop At: North Seymour Island, Ecuador
In the morning, jump aboard and head for the harbor for today's day trip.
The small island of North Seymour is one of the most diverse islands in the Galapagos archipelago. It is only about two square kilometers in size and, above all, is known for of the intensive courtship rituals of the magnificent frigatebirds taking place here during mating season. The island is home to large colonies of land iguanas, marine iguanas and sea lions. The characteristic bush landscape features diverse species of animals amongst the aromatic endemic balsa trees.
After two hours well spent exploring the island, you return to the boat. Travel to the north coast of Santa Cruz Island, where you will visit Las Bachas Beach - one of the most important nesting sites for the Galapagos Island's sea turtle population.
A hidden lagoon behind the bay reveals a treasure trove of animal sightings - sunbathing iguanas, curious shorebirds, and Darwin finches, mockingbirds and seagulls frolic here. Native plant life is also interesting in this area. Red and black mangroves and salt bushes line the edges of the pond.
In this heavenly place you will also find the remains of barges that sank long ago when the US Navy operated a base on the island of Baltra during the Second World War. Local people changed the word Barges to "Bachas".
Back in Puerto Ayora you have enough time to explore the little town on your own.

Blue-footed boobies rule the shoreline. At the end of the beach you will find a quiet bay where you can swim and even borrow a kayak to get closer to the big stingrays and sea turtles.

Day 4: Puerto Ayora Bay Tour - Half Day

Stop At: Malecon de Puerto Ayora, Ave Charles Darwin, Puerto Ayora 200350 Ecuador
Take a 3 hour excursion through the bays around Puerto Ayora. The Bay Tour boat takes you to to the island of Camano to watch sea lions lazing on the shores of La Lobería. This beach has clearly earned its English name - Sea Lion Beach. If the water is calm, we encourage you to grab your snorkelling equipment and jump in the water here. The gorgeous waters here are full of friendly sea lions and schools of tropical fish.
Continue to Punta Estrada with a small lighthouse. Along the rocky coast, you can see several Galapagos seabirds that call this area home, including blue-footed boobies and frigatebirds. You can also snorkel at Punta Estrada.
The tour continues to the Canal del Amor and the Canal de los Tiburones - the channel of the sharks. You will be lead through the dry zone to the Playa de los Perros, where you can watch the cheeky marine iguanas who sunbathe on the rocks. The next stop is the Bay of Franklin. Sea turtles, golden rays, and eagle rays are often found playing in the waters here. Depending on the season, you can also see the nesting pelicans and herons in the mangrove area.

The natural pools of Concha Perla are just a short stroll from the harbor in Puerto Villamil. Day 7: Galapagos Tour: Explore Isabela on Bike (Galapagos Pro Recommendation)

Stop At: Isabela Island, Galapagos, 010850 Ecuador
Bike Through Puerto Villamil
Galapagos PRO recommendation: This trip should not be missed in your Galapagos experience. You can go on your own or with a nature guide. Groups of 5 or more require the accompaniment of a nature guide when visiting the National Park.
We recommend an interesting, easy bike ride which brings you to three visitor points on Galapagos largest island, Isabela.
We suggest beginning with El Muro de las Lágrimas, the Wall of Tears. The wall is about 150 meters long and was built under cruel conditions by convicts of the infamous penal colony "Porvenir" in the 40s and 50s. First named the Wall of Tears by local residents, who state that the wall often emits an eerie, crying sound and the area is said to have a "heavy energy".
Afterward, ride to the Flamingo Lagoon just beyond the tortoise breeding center. The small lagoon offers the best opportunity to see flamingos up close. Enjoy the unique atmosphere and relax for a few minutes on the quiet saltwater lake, watching the chattering flamingos foraging for food.
Los Humedales
Finally, ride to the wetlands of the island, the Humedales. The lush vegetation of this fragile habitat hides many small lagoons. These are surrounded by mangroves and provide shelter, food and drinking water for many species of birds. One of the larger lagoons is also home to the Galapagos flamingo whose pink plumage is reflected in the calm waters. On their stilt-like legs, these graceful birds are well worth bringing your camera for.
