About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- William L0 contributionsLearning to cook traditional Ecuadorian meal.We had a wonderful afternoon shopping at the Central Market with Andreas followed by a cooking class with Magola and Sylvia. We cooked authentic Ecuadorian foods, many made with fruits and vegetables unique to Ecuador. We learned special techniques for making these tasty recipes and look forward to trying them when we return home. Our chefs were amazing; so welcoming and knowledgeable.Written January 30, 2025
- markallan0030 contributionsGreat entertainment, smells and tastesBeautiful people showing us how to make delicious food. Not complicated, I’m not a big cook myself, but really enjoyed the whole experience. Short tour of fresh market was great, amazing smells and sights. Then to a small kitchen to make potato soup, ceviche, and taste various fruits and drinks. Excellent. Good English if you’re concerned. Highly recommend for a few hours of fun, and full meal.Written January 23, 2025

- D7356GFsarahf0 contributionsGreat introduction to Ecuadorian food cultureWe really enjoyed the market tour, where we got to try many of Ecuador’s unique fruits. The recipes were simple, but it was interesting to see how meals were cooked based on Ecuadorian culture. Their English was very good, and they were all so niceWritten December 28, 2024
- apina12190 contributionsThe best Ecuador has to offerThe market tour was very informational but the cooking experience was the best part. The ladies who host the cooking portion are lovely and knowledgeable about the culture and cuisine. The food was also very tasty.Written December 3, 2024
- TravelNurse1230 contributionsVery professional, fun, and educational cooking class!I had an incredible experience with the Cooking Class and Market Tour in Ecuador! Magola and Silvia were fantastic hosts, creating a relaxed atmosphere with upbeat music while maintaining a spotless kitchen. We were hands-on in every step, snacking on delicious treats and immersing ourselves in Ecuadorian culture. The market tour, led by Andres, was equally amazing—he shared fascinating insights into the market and local foods. This is a must-do experience for anyone looking to explore Ecuador’s culinary traditions!Written December 1, 2024

- Randy R0 contributionsTerrific Market TourExcellent tour of markets and a few bonus points. Galapagos Connoisseur LLC did a wonderful job. We were picked up on time at our Hotel. Our guide, Gean Pierre was most attentive to what we wanted to do on the day tour. We got everything accomplished and never felt rushed. The time in the car was filled with information on a wide range of subjects that came to mind. Our brief time in Quito was really enhanced by going to these markets. We walked away with travel treasures that would otherwise not be found. Thanks so much Gean for your knowledge and support.Written November 15, 2024
- Bigwhalebelly0 contributionsA real authentic local culinary cooking experience !Fantastic experience with pick up by the boss from our hotel followed by shopping for ingredients for our lunch at the center city market, sampling the many different fruits and other possible menu items and mingling with all the locals at there daily market spot (no other tourists in sight!) followed by a few blocks ride to the cooking class site in a private courtyard residence in old town. All hands on deck helping with the prep (including a home made Equadoran cocktail) and then enjoying the delicious local dishes we helped make and learn to prepare. Warm and friendly pair of chefs who are really great teachers of genuine local recipes. By the end it felt like a meal with relatives while home for the holidays! We had a wonderful time!Written November 7, 2024
- Inspire258324653100 contributionsUnforgettable experienceWhat an amazing experience - just the perfect way to start our travels. Andres picked us up at our hotel and showed us a market in Quito with all its beautiful fruits, vegetables and many more. He then brought us to this beautiful building, more than 200 years old. It's just by a main street but once you enter the building it's very quiet and calm there. We were welcomed by his beautiful wife Silvia and her friend who taught us how to cook traditional Ecuadorian dishes. We were also served this delicious warm cocktail with some sort of local cane sugar "rum". Silvia even organized our taxi that brought us back to the hotel. Thank you so much for the unforgettable experience. I can recommend this cooking class to anyone who's interested in learning more about Ecuadorian food culture and people.Written November 7, 2024
- TaxLady7110 contributionsAmazing authentic Ecuadorian cooking experienceWe had a chance to visit and taste from the the local market. We then met a local chef and sous chef who helped us prepare a 3 course meal and 2 different drinks. The experience was fabulous and we walked away with the recipes and full bellies. They made the experience very easy by picking us up at the hotel and delivering us back. Highly recommend this tour!Written July 28, 2024
- staceyc4850 contributionsGreat cooking experience! We try to immerse ourselves a bit in the culture of a new place and what better way than their cooking! Andres was very friendly and informative on our drive to the old town. We learned a bit at the local food market before heading to our class. Silvia and margola were great. We learned simple but tasty dishes we can make at home. Enjoyable day!Written July 9, 2024
- 121santinaf0 contributionsWish we could rate it 100 stars!!We had the most fun and amazing experience today with Andres, Sylvia and Margola! Andres picked us up at our hotel and took us to Mercado Central to purchase items for our cooking class. We sampled delicious juice, fruits, herbs and vegetables along the way. We were then taken to the historic center for a wonderful time of cooking locro de papa, canalazo, shrimp ceviche , chocolate soup and pantconera. We participated in all aspects of cooking. And our teachers, Margola and Sylvia taught us with exceptional skill and kindness. The meal was phenomenal and we were given all the recipes! My husband can’t wait for me to make these dishes at home! The ladies went above and beyond by escorting us back via the new subway system. We were thrilled with this cooking experience and highly recommend it. If we could rate it 100 stars we would!! If you are in Quito, don’t miss this experience. Gracias Margola, Sylvia and Andres! We will always think of your kindness and expertise and will think of you every time we make these dishes at home.Written June 10, 2024

This was the second tour we booked after an amazing tour the day before exploring the Mindo Cloud Forest! We started at a local cafe for coffee and Quito style quesadillas. We enjoyed fresh juice and fruit tasting at Mercado Central, followed by lunch at the historic San Agustin. We then strolled Old Town Quito, stopping for a quick tour of Church of La Compañía before ending the day with a delicious local cocktail, canelazo. Andres helped us have another great day in Quito. He went over and above to help us find delicious local food, shared history of the area and was a lot of fun to hang out with! Having a guide who is in love with their city like Andres makes for a perfect experience!

Andres picked us up from the hotel and the first stop was for a breakfast sweet quesadilla fresh from a local family bakery. The rest of the day was a walking tour of Old Town stopping for juices, fruits, sampling of various local dishes, lunch with local menu selections and finally a great stop for coffee. Andres was a great guide - he sure knows his food lol. It was a day we won't forget.

Andre the operator owner could not have been more accommodating and helpful in some special attention we asked for. His willingness to attend to our ever need was never questioned. If you are considering a special culinary experience and adventure I'd recommend his tour. You won't go wrong. Was a pleasure working with is company.

Andres was a great guide. He picked us up right on time and took us to eat some great food. He was very kind and knowledgeable, and we had a great time. It was our first day in Quito and we were tired from traveling. It was a nice, easy tour for our first day. Don’t eat breakfast!

Andres led us with our food tour through the market place with many tasty samples. I was concerned about sampling in the market place because I didn't want to start my trip with stomach issues. But there were no issues at all. We also had a big meal, ice cream, & then chocolate tastings.
Definitely go hungry.
