          The perfect taste of Ecuador
The perfect start to our trip! Everyone was wonderful and we learned so much about Ecuador and the food native to the land. Our lunch was phenomenal and it was such a unique experience with very knowledgeable and kind people. Highly recommend! Learned so many new ways to elevate our cooking at home.

          Delicious
We really enjoyed our food tour of Quito with Andreas. He picked us up at the hotel and took us from place to place while explaining the rich and tasty culture of Ecuadorian food. He took the time to explain the nuances of each cuisine and at the same time we really enjoyed the tour of Old Town Quito. We would definitely recommend this tour. Total time was just under 5 hours.

What an amazing and wonderful experience. Shopping for the food in the market and then returning to their location to prep and cook the food. Highly recommended for such a unique experience.

          Quito Foodies!!
If 6 stars were available, this would be our rating! A really fun, informative and hands-on experience, starting with visiting the Quito market to get some of the ingredients. Down to earth, mainline Ecuadorian cuisine, hosted by a super friendly family in Quito’s Old Town area. Do this!!

Learning to cook traditional Ecuadorian meal.
We had a wonderful afternoon shopping at the Central Market with Andreas followed by a cooking class with Magola and Sylvia. We cooked authentic Ecuadorian foods, many made with fruits and vegetables unique to Ecuador. We learned special techniques for making these tasty recipes and look forward to trying them when we return home. Our chefs were amazing; so welcoming and knowledgeable.

          Great entertainment, smells and tastes
Beautiful people showing us how to make delicious food. Not complicated, I’m not a big cook myself, but really enjoyed the whole experience. Short tour of fresh market was great, amazing smells and sights. Then to a small kitchen to make potato soup, ceviche, and taste various fruits and drinks. Excellent. Good English if you’re concerned. Highly recommend for a few hours of fun, and full meal.

          A tasty Quito experience.
Andre the operator owner could not have been more accommodating and helpful in some special attention we asked for. His willingness to attend to our ever need was never questioned. If you are considering a special culinary experience and adventure I'd recommend his tour. You won't go wrong. Was a pleasure working with is company.

Great introduction to Ecuadorian food culture
We really enjoyed the market tour, where we got to try many of Ecuador’s unique fruits. The recipes were simple, but it was interesting to see how meals were cooked based on Ecuadorian culture. Their English was very good, and they were all so nice

The best Ecuador has to offer
The market tour was very informational but the cooking experience was the best part. The ladies who host the cooking portion are lovely and knowledgeable about the culture and cuisine. The food was also very tasty.

Very professional, fun, and educational cooking class!
I had an incredible experience with the Cooking Class and Market Tour in Ecuador! Magola and Silvia were fantastic hosts, creating a relaxed atmosphere with upbeat music while maintaining a spotless kitchen. We were hands-on in every step, snacking on delicious treats and immersing ourselves in Ecuadorian culture. The market tour, led by Andres, was equally amazing—he shared fascinating insights into the market and local foods. This is a must-do experience for anyone looking to explore Ecuador’s culinary traditions!

          Terrific Market Tour
Excellent tour of markets and a few bonus points. Galapagos Connoisseur LLC did a wonderful job. We were picked up on time at our Hotel. Our guide, Gean Pierre was most attentive to what we wanted to do on the day tour. We got everything accomplished and never felt rushed. The time in the car was filled with information on a wide range of subjects that came to mind. Our brief time in Quito was really enhanced by going to these markets. We walked away with travel treasures that would otherwise not be found. Thanks so much Gean for your knowledge and support.

On our way to the Galapagos, as recommended, my wife and I arrived a day early in Quito and decided to spend the day with Galapagos Connoisseur cooking and walking through the historic area. Our experience was exceptional.
The morning began with Andres picking us up at our hotel a driving to the central market. We spent time walking through the market learning about and tasting the many fruits and vegetables which we don’t see in our typical American markets. We then drove a short distance to the cooking school where Magdalena and Sylvia spent the next few hours teaching us how to prepare several Ecuadorian dishes including Potato Soup, Shrimp Ceviche, Fried Plantain, a delicious Ecuadorian cocktail and juice. This was a very hands-on, participatory experience and we learned ways that we could recreate these dishes at home. Throughout the morning, we were able to converse about Ecuadorean family life and culture easily, as Magdalena and Sylvia speak excellent English. We also booked the afternoon experience, so we did not return to our hotel and rather just continued to talk and relax.
Overall, we had a delicious meal and learned much about Ecuadorean cuisine.
Our afternoon experience began by first walking through the historic district, where the local residents were celebrating the Fiestas de Quito so the squares and streets were quite full. On our own, particularly after the cautions from our State Department, we might have felt uncomfortable. However, with Magdalena and Sylvia, it became a relaxing and exciting experience. We stopped to sample some fresh Ecuadorean ice cream and eventually visited the Minka Chocolate Experience where we sampled over a dozen different chocolate bars after a brief lecture on the production of chocolate from seed to table.
Then we walked back to the cooking school where we prepared Empanadas, Quimbolitas, and coffee. Magdalena and Sylvia taught us the traditional Ecuadorean way to cook these and we look forward to trying them in the USA.
Spending a whole day with Andres, Magdalena and Sylvia was an extraordinary and delightful way to experience Quito and we recommend it without any reservation.
