          Wonderful day in the volcanoes
Carlos was a driver and Roberto our guide. They whisked us through Quito along the Pan-American highway to the Avenue of the volcanoes. Carlos managed to drive in bumper-to-bumper traffic and very rough roads up to the top of the Cotopaxi volcano. Inside the Cotopaxi National Park, Roberto managed to find the tiniest exotic birds and pulled out a tripod, Telescopic, lens, and binoculars. He pointed out the rare almost extinct Ecuadorian deer, wild horses, ducks, and birds. Inside the museum, Roberto pointed out the volcanoes Flora and fauna. he took many wonderful pictures of us and even did a video of all of the that surrounded us. On the way back to our hotel we stopped at Mirador de los volcanoes for lunch. We enjoyed our welcome drink and appetizer. My salad and our lamb platter were reasonably priced, abundant and delicious. This was a wonderful 7 1/2 hour day, we really enjoyed getting outside of keto and seeing some of the lakes, mountains and volcanoes.

Two-day Quito tour with Juan Cevallos
A group of us stayed at JW Marriot in Quito before our Galapagos cruise. We did a two-day tour with Juan Cevallos. He was awesome. Took us to various areas in Quito center on day one. On Day two we went to the middle of the world on the equator line and Pululahua Crate. Beautiful!!! He was very knowledgeable and personable. We highly recommend him!

          Amazing Mindo Bird Tour
We booked this company through the JW Marriott, and got really lucky with Roberto. We got an amazing Mindo cloud forest bird tour. Roberto picked us up from the hotel. He drove us around to see butterflies, hummingbirds, and all sorts of birds, some of which we had to hike to. We saw a side of Ecuador you don’t normally see with the usual tourist tour. Roberto drive us around for birds all day. We went to two different restaurants that had only locals in them, that was cool. Roberto is generous with information and his time. I would book with Roberto again for sure, he is a Naturalist and so experienced, it made a huge difference in how many birds we saw. Our main goal was to see the Cock of the Rock and he delivered a forest full of them, it was so cool to see their bright feathers and hear all of them calling to each other, wow!! Pro tip: talk to your guide ahead of time. We did not do that and arranged the pick up time of 6 AM, but Roberto told us 4 AM would’ve been ideal to see more birds, especially toucans.

          Otavalo and Peguche Waterfall!!!
Diego was AWESOME! He has so much knowledge on not only Quito but all of Ecuador as whole. As an Ecuadorian who was born and raised in NY, he made me want to learn more about my culture and my family's history and the history of this beautiful country. Diego took us to so many wonderful places on this tour and he was so friendly and just overall a great person to spend the day getting to know la Sierra. The bizcochos in Cayambe were so delicious. He also took us to the Lago San Pablo, then we went to El Mercado de Artesanías de Otavalo and it was just what I imagined it would be. So many beautiful people and textiles. Just couldn't decide what to get and from where. The Cascada de Peguche was so beautiful!!! Everything was so wonderful and Diego was amazing!!!

          Amazing Tour of Quito!!!
Amazing Tour of Quito!! Our tour guide, Juan Cevallos, met us at 8am at the JW Marriott and he was awesome from the moment he greeted us until he dropped us back off at the hotel at the end of the tour. He is so knowledgeable on the city of Ecuador. He took us to the Panecillo, Mitad del Mundo, El Centro Historico, took us to a bunch of churches and even a chocolate store to hear how it's made! Juan is so friendly and we really enjoyed his guidance. He even took us to eat fritada at a local spot. It was delicious! I would highly recommend!

Wonderful Guide With Endless Knowledge and Passion for Birds
The right guide makes all the difference when you're birding in a new country and in Roberto, you get the best of the best. First and foremost he knows his birds, their habitats, behaviors, and calls. But as importantly his passion for birds, wildlife and conservation are evident from the moment you step into the field. I've taken 1 and 2 day trips to the Mindo area with him the past 2 years and the experience has been fantastic. He's great about putting a trip together that you find interesting. If you want to go to feeders, he'll take you to excellent reserves with them. If you want to get out into the field and trek a bit on foot, he'll do that too. I enjoyed both - finding toucans (Plate Billed, Yellow Throated and Choco!) out on our own, and watching tanagers and hummers at feeding stations, among other adventures in between.

          Adventure of a lifetime
Roberto is fantastic with an Instant ID for every bird we saw. It was an adventure of a lifetime We left warly at 4am and visited Balcon Tumpiki. We arrived just in time (6am) to see 3 bill-plated mountain toucan which never came back again during our visit. We also saw many colorful tanagers, hummingbirds, a trogon, toucan barbets and a yellow-breasted antpitta From there we stopped for breakfast and continued to San Tadeo Birding to see a bright-rumped atilla and others along with so many amazing hummingbirds like the Violet-tailed Sylph and the White-booted Racket-tail along with an amazing view overlooking Mindo Next we went driving along some back roads stopping when we heard or saw various other birds including a rufous MotMot, Chuco Toucan, and multiple types of hawks and others We ate lunch at an amazing grill and continued our road birding to our final destination a lek for the Andean Cock-of-the-rock and we also found a Golden-headed Quetzal We returned to cumbaya around 7pm a long amazing day. I’m so grateful for Roberto and Marcus and taking me around for the adventure of a lifetime and i captured some unreal photos as well.

Local Street food of Quito with a great guide
We had a (nominally) 4 hour street food tour of Quito, hosted by Roberto. It would be a challenge to explore the local cuisine without someone like Roberto with his deep knowledge of Quito and his love of food. Our first stop was at the Centro Mercado, where we spent about 20 minutes at 2 fruit stalls. Roberto introduced us to several endemic fruit varieties - each with samples that we enjoyed along with his non-stop narrative about each one. Then, up the hall to a lunch counter for thoroughly delicious ceviche and sea bass. The next stop was a storefront vendor in Old Town to pick up a sampling of native candies. Next we waited out the rain in a small cafe where Roberto introduced us to ponche, a satisfying smoothie of egg yolks, milk and cinnamon. The final stop was at a small square where street vendors sell empanadas, soups, a spiced blackberry drink… and tripe. But don’t worry, Roberto will meet you where you are and help you be as adventurous as you desire. Importantly, Roberto is enthusiastic about natural and local foods, articulate about many subjects and highly passionate about showing off the culinary aspects of his native culture to food-oriented guests.

          Excellent Private Tour with Roberto
Had an excellent time with Roberto doing a private tour where we did the Centro Historico, Mitad del Mundo, Cotopaxi and Mindo in August 2023. He was a great guide and very professional. I would highly recommend him to travellers to Quito and the surrounding area. He speaks both English and Spanish. 10/10 would recommend.

A fantastic trip for a multi generational family
We were met on time by Juan, our friendly and informative guide and Wilfredo our driver for this lovely trip. We were taken to beautiful view points, a rose farm to see the growing and picking process from start to finish, we visited a shop to see Alpaca products being made before visiting the waterfall and ending up at the market. Juan was fantastic throughout, looked after my mother getting in and out of the bus as well as humouring my teenagers. The company also helped me very quickly when I left my mobile on the bus at the end of the tour! Highly recommend.

Multiple tours with Great Horned Owl
We had a great time visiting Quito and the surrounding area with Roberto and Juan as our guides. We did 3 different day trips with Great Horned Owl tours - 2 with Roberto and 1 with Juan. They picked us up on time at our hotels, communicated well in English via WhatsApp and in person during the tours. They were full of information about the places we visited. First we went to Otavalo and Peguche water fall with stops in Cotacachi and the sun dial at the museum of the sun. Second we visited Cotopaxi and they set us up with horseback riding before a walk around the lake. We had considered biking at the volcano but Roberto smartly advised against it and when we saw the people biking on the roads there we were very glad to have done horseback riding instead. Third, we visited Quito’s Old Town and learned a lot about all the churches in the city. We would definitely recommend others to use.

          Juan Cevallos was Excellent!
Had a great experience with Juan Cevallos! He was friendly, professional and full of knowledge. Juan is an avid historian that is heavily involved in promoting the truth about the Spanish invovlement in the Americas. It was refreshing to come across someone that didn't tote the "black legend" historical fallacy that Spain ONLY pillaged and plundered the region. The actual trip to Cotopaxi was marred by bad weather so unfortunately the views weren't great. However, we did have a nice walk around the lake and were able to observe the beautiful wild horses. For lunch and to make up for the bad weather, Juan took us to a former colonial Spanish hacienda now a boutique hotel which was a pleasant surprise. I highly recommend you book a tour with Great Horned Owl and if possible request Juan, you won't regret it! Gracias Juan por todo, un abrazo.

Hermoso tour.
