About
In the limited embrace of time, the vast wonders of Ecuador beckon. Imagine standing on the precipice of one of the world's loftiest active volcanoes, its history etched deep into the earth, marked by a cataclysmic eruption some 800 years past that sculpted a caldera spanning three kilometers. Feel the pulse of the land as you navigate the roaring rapids of Ecuador's most spirited rivers, each wave a testament to nature's raw power. From dizzying heights, dare to rappel, unveiling vistas that stir the very soul. And when the thrill subsides, let the therapeutic embrace of hot springs restore you. But the crescendo of this journey? A tryst with the Amazon Rainforest. Here, nature's symphony plays uninterrupted. Bathe in the verdant embrace of the forest, listen to the whispers of Pacha Mama, and delve into the age-old secrets held by local communities. If fortune favors, you might even unearth the mystical rites of the sacred. A sensory odyssey awaits.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Daisy L0 contributionsBrilliant stay at Caiman Ecolodge booked through Carpedm! We had a brilliant 4-day stay at caiman ecolodge and we booked everything through Carpedm which was really easy to do. Dorian and Paul were really responsive to my emails and answered all my questions, thank you! We also booked the bus from Quito to Lago Agrio with Carpedm as well and would definitely recommend this as it ran really smoothly and we were dropped at the location where the bus taking us to Cuyabeno Bridge was picking us up. Would definitely recommend Caiman Ecolodge as all the guides and staff were brilliant and we saw so much wildlife! Thank you for organising this trip Carpedm!Written March 20, 2025
- Okkie170 contributionsA perfect vacationCarpeDM Adventures came recommended by a family member, and they didn't disappoint! We emailed a rough outline of what we wanted to see and do in Ecuador, and Dorian came back with a few options. From there we narrowed it down to an interesting itinerary. Unfortunately a health incident meant we couldn't travel as planned, but never fear, Dorian managed to salvage parts of the trip, and we were able to rebook when my partner was on the mend. We don't like organised group tours, so CarpeDM perfectly suited our needs, providing private transfers and guides where appropriate. Our travels took us to Quito, Cotopaxi, Quillotoa Loop, Baños, Mindo, the Amazon/Yasuni as well as some day excursions from Quito. Everything was very well organised, great accommodation options and pleasant, knowledgeable local guides and drivers. In-country communication was excellent. If you want to see what Ecuador has on offer, I suggest you contact CarpeDM for a brilliant holiday.Written March 7, 2025
- cindyrides0 contributionsGreat excursion! We had the most incredible experience with Alex as our host! From the moment we got on the bus Alex was a great guide! He is knowledgeable about so many things. The weather was not ideal for seeing Cotopaxi, but it ended up being incredible. It snowed on us the whole time. Alex kept a nice slow pace and had us take frequent, short rest stops. On our way down it cleared up a bit and we had some great views. Every stop we made was an added bonus to the trip. The lunch was very good. Feeding the llamas and chickens was fun! I highly recommend booking with them. Request Alex, you will it be disappointed!!Written February 18, 2025
- devone5300 contributionsGreat day at CotopaxiThe weather was unpredictable so pack layers and warm gear. Alex, our tour guide, was fabulous! We learned so much!! Would go again!Written February 18, 2025

- Amanda S0 contributionsAmazingWe had an amazing day. Phillipe our guide was very informative. He made sure we were safe and had a great time. He offered different entery points to activities so everyone felt safe and had fun. It was raining but the clouds cleared several times for a day our family will never forget. Thank you.Written February 16, 2025
- Julianfromyorkhire0 contributionsInsightful tour of QuitoI am so glad I took the one day City Tour and Equator Line with Lincoln. He is an ideal guide with flawless English. We visited a volcanic crater where amazingly we saw a fertile bowl with working farms. Then on to the Equator for science and also fun and games Finally we returned to the city to visit basilicas and major city sights. Lincoln brought the city to life with cultural insights and historical perspective. If you only take one tour, take this oneWritten February 14, 2025

- Roving084375843160 contributionsWonderful City of Quito Day TripI had a wonderful city tour of Quito with Alejandro as our lovely guide. We went to so many places in just one day and all had a great time. Our driver was very skilled and manoeuvred the steep and winding roads super well and Alejandro was very knowledgeable and had great energy. Would recommend this tour.Written February 8, 2025

- O4412YRtomh0 contributionsNovel altitude experience with fun people!Fun trip! Stop for breakfast and got some coca tea and candy. It was a very fun but rough ride up the hill and then a hike up to the base camp. Some of us pushed a little further and they were good views and I got to experience elevation. Biking down was fun, especially once the road was smoother. Lunch was included and the bus was very comfy. I really liked it and Alejandra was really fun and knowledgeable. The only downside is the headache that I have the rest of the day from the elevation. I'm not sure how it compares to other tours, but I would do it again. We have a good group!Written January 22, 2025
- 857danielee0 contributionsGreat place great guideThis is a trip you don’t want to miss. Alejandro, the guide, was very knowledgeable. This one day excursion was safe, exciting and informative. Cotopaxi is a beautiful volcano and this company did a great job making sure that I got to experience the best of hiking up the volcano.Written January 15, 2025
- jodyyyl0 contributionsIncredible Tour - A Perfect Day in Quito! We had the absolute best day exploring Quito and its surroundings with Alejandro as our guide. From start to finish, he made the experience unforgettable—his great sense of humour, depth of knowledge, and professionalism stood out, and as we were lucky enough to be the only 2 people in the group that day, he truly made us feel like we were touring with a friend rather than just a guide. Our first stop was the Basilica del Voto Nacional, where we admired the stunning architecture and unique gargoyles depicting Amazonian and Galapagos animals—such a cool detail! We then visited the Virgen del Panecillo, where we enjoyed panoramic views of the city. For just $1 USD, we climbed up inside the monument for even better vistas. Next, we headed to Pululahua, where we got lucky—the clouds parted just in time for us to see a breathtaking view of the volcanic crater. We hiked a little way down to get an even better perspective, though the altitude made it tricky to go too far (the climb back up is no joke!). For lunch, we stopped at a charming empanada restaurant. The cheese and pineapple empanada was delicious, though it’s worth noting there weren’t any vegan options. The final stop was hands-down the highlight—the Equator Museum. It was, without a doubt, the best $5 USD per person we’ve ever spent! We got to walk along the equator line, stand with one foot in each hemisphere, balance an egg, and even see how water funnels differently on each side of the equator (and directly on it!). As if that wasn’t enough, Alejo surprised us with a private tour to learn about Ecuadorian chocolate production. We sampled fresh cacao fruit and even got to buy some chocolate to take home—a perfect ending to an already incredible day. If you’re in Quito, I can’t recommend this tour enough—and Alejo made it all the more special. A must-do experience!Written January 13, 2025

Dorian from CarpeDM did a great job helping us planning our vacation in Ecuador to our liking. I highly recommend this travel company. My husband and I had the best vacation time in this beautiful country. From the Andes mountains to the Amazon forest, everything went great. The only problem is we are now in love with Ecuador and its people, and will have to come back in the future. I feel like we came to Ecuador as a stranger, became friends and left as a family. Thank you Dorian and CarpeDM for everything.
