About the operator

- Bigwhalebelly0 contributionsA real authentic local culinary cooking experience !Fantastic experience with pick up by the boss from our hotel followed by shopping for ingredients for our lunch at the center city market, sampling the many different fruits and other possible menu items and mingling with all the locals at there daily market spot (no other tourists in sight!) followed by a few blocks ride to the cooking class site in a private courtyard residence in old town. All hands on deck helping with the prep (including a home made Equadoran cocktail) and then enjoying the delicious local dishes we helped make and learn to prepare. Warm and friendly pair of chefs who are really great teachers of genuine local recipes. By the end it felt like a meal with relatives while home for the holidays! We had a wonderful time!Written November 7, 2024
- Inspire258324653100 contributionsUnforgettable experienceWhat an amazing experience - just the perfect way to start our travels. Andres picked us up at our hotel and showed us a market in Quito with all its beautiful fruits, vegetables and many more. He then brought us to this beautiful building, more than 200 years old. It's just by a main street but once you enter the building it's very quiet and calm there. We were welcomed by his beautiful wife Silvia and her friend who taught us how to cook traditional Ecuadorian dishes. We were also served this delicious warm cocktail with some sort of local cane sugar "rum". Silvia even organized our taxi that brought us back to the hotel. Thank you so much for the unforgettable experience. I can recommend this cooking class to anyone who's interested in learning more about Ecuadorian food culture and people.Written November 7, 2024
- TaxLady7110 contributionsAmazing authentic Ecuadorian cooking experienceWe had a chance to visit and taste from the the local market. We then met a local chef and sous chef who helped us prepare a 3 course meal and 2 different drinks. The experience was fabulous and we walked away with the recipes and full bellies. They made the experience very easy by picking us up at the hotel and delivering us back. Highly recommend this tour!Written July 28, 2024
- staceyc4850 contributionsGreat cooking experience! We try to immerse ourselves a bit in the culture of a new place and what better way than their cooking! Andres was very friendly and informative on our drive to the old town. We learned a bit at the local food market before heading to our class. Silvia and margola were great. We learned simple but tasty dishes we can make at home. Enjoyable day!Written July 9, 2024
- 121santinaf0 contributionsWish we could rate it 100 stars!!We had the most fun and amazing experience today with Andres, Sylvia and Margola! Andres picked us up at our hotel and took us to Mercado Central to purchase items for our cooking class. We sampled delicious juice, fruits, herbs and vegetables along the way. We were then taken to the historic center for a wonderful time of cooking locro de papa, canalazo, shrimp ceviche , chocolate soup and pantconera. We participated in all aspects of cooking. And our teachers, Margola and Sylvia taught us with exceptional skill and kindness. The meal was phenomenal and we were given all the recipes! My husband can’t wait for me to make these dishes at home! The ladies went above and beyond by escorting us back via the new subway system. We were thrilled with this cooking experience and highly recommend it. If we could rate it 100 stars we would!! If you are in Quito, don’t miss this experience. Gracias Margola, Sylvia and Andres! We will always think of your kindness and expertise and will think of you every time we make these dishes at home.Written June 10, 2024
- debbiebT1837WK0 contributionsA tour with lots of extrasWe had our two grandkids 15 and 17 with us and they had fun too! Andres and Sylvia took us to a fabulous market to buy produce for our class. Margola (hope I spelled her name right) was the chef and she was very knowledgeable, informative, interesting and fun. She and Sylvia went above and beyond for us. It was May 24, Ecuadors Independence Day and there were parades all day and thousands of people in the streets. No way to drive us back to our hotel. They personally navigated through throngs of people and took us on the metro back to our hotel. An experience we would have missed. Would highly recommend their class!Written June 1, 2024
- SusanY1630 contributionsAn engaging classWe had a fabulous experience with Andres, Sylvia and Magda. I have a dinner party planned after our practice🍴 The preparations were healthy and delicious. I hope Magda puts together an Ecuadorian cookbook! The morning was delightful.Written May 14, 2024

- 953maksimv0 contributionsAmazing Experiance! We had a fantastic time. The market tour was fun and we got a better understanding of Ecuadors culinary eco system as well as tried several local specialities. Then we went to the kitchen space and prepared potato soup, ceviche, and dessert. This class is very interactive and was a great chance for us to learn some Ecuadorian cooking techniques. We had a great time, and their kitchen is right in the middle of old town, so with a full stomach and went and wondered around the market.Written May 7, 2024
- sherrem20150 contributionsGreat way to get acclimated to EcuadorAndres led us with our food tour through the market place with many tasty samples. I was concerned about sampling in the market place because I didn't want to start my trip with stomach issues. But there were no issues at all. We also had a big meal, ice cream, & then chocolate tastings. Definitely go hungry.Written April 30, 2024
- W1412URaarona0 contributionsBeautiful Food with a very Personal Touch! We had a great time on this tour. We tried lots of samples of fruits at the market which we had never seen before. The cooking class was excellent and had a very personal touch. We felt like we had a moment in a traditional Ecuadorian home celebrating a new friendship. A beautiful experience for my family. The love and passion for Eqiadorian food and culture was felt!Written March 30, 2024

- wheelerma190 contributionsRelaxing Hot Springs after long week of exploringAndres provided another great experience! It was our third tour with him on this trip, this time to local hot springs Termas Papallacta on his recommendation. The drive was beautiful, Andres was welcoming and fun to talk to as always and the hot springs were a perfect way to relax after returning from our visit to the Amazon.Written March 18, 2024
- wheelerma190 contributionsAmazing and Authentic Food Tour! This was the second tour we booked after an amazing tour the day before exploring the Mindo Cloud Forest! We started at a local cafe for coffee and Quito style quesadillas. We enjoyed fresh juice and fruit tasting at Mercado Central, followed by lunch at the historic San Agustin. We then strolled Old Town Quito, stopping for a quick tour of Church of La Compañía before ending the day with a delicious local cocktail, canelazo. Andres helped us have another great day in Quito. He went over and above to help us find delicious local food, shared history of the area and was a lot of fun to hang out with! Having a guide who is in love with their city like Andres makes for a perfect experience!Written March 18, 2024
- wheelerma190 contributionsBest Tours & Guide in Ecuador! This was the first of three amazing tours with Andres! . We spent the day exploring the Mindo cloud forest customized to our interests. The day started with a coffee experience where we got to learn the process of growing and roasting coffee, we got to prepare, roast, and grind our own coffee beans for an excellent cup or coffee. Next we took an open air cable car to see breath taking views of the lush landscape. We then had lunch at a local diner followed by a chocolate tour and tasting. We ended the day with admiring butterflies and humming birds, before making drive back to Quito. Andres was an excellent guide, who did an excellent job customizing our private tour. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and fun to talk to. He helped us to have another excellent day in Ecuador seeing more of the natural beauty the country has to offer.Written March 18, 2024

Hi Matt, thanks for the awesome review. I had a blast with you two. Tons of great stories and conversation. Glad you enjoyed the Equator and that we were able to get back to Old Town safely. Have a safe return.
