About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- RichardR26100 contributionsExcellentWell organised tour, guide kept us well informed at all times. Pedro (guide) and Mataius (driver) were excellent. Pedro was particularly passionate about his job, informed us well with good information.Written December 4, 2024
- darjushb0 contributionsKnowledgeable private driver to Yeso dam and Colinas hot springsJulio is a knowledgeable private driver that took us to Yeso dam and Colinas hot springs. We departed at 630, a little earlier than the suggested 7, and it was well worth it to beat the traffic on the way and for better pictures. We were able to stop at any point for photo opportunities of the numerous waterfalls and scenic overlooks on the way. We passed San Jose fel Maipo on the way up because nothing was open. We stopped a little later at a local spot for empanadas and coffee breakfast before continuing to Yeso. We were given as much time as we wanted at Yeso before proceeding to Colinas. There again, we had as much time as we wanted. The normal group trip gives an hour at the hotsprings (which is just about as much as you need) but we were able to take more time on the private tour. On the way back we had an opportunity to stop by the chocolate house but we decided to skip it as it was absolute pandemonium with all the tourists. We did stop by Concha y Toro on our way back into Santiago and had an amazing time trying the wines and a good bite to eat at the restaurant. Julio was amazing in helping us with getting exactly where we wanted and stopping for any requests we had. Some of the trip is on narrow mountain roads which Julio handled very well in our large, comfortable all wheel drive SUV.Written November 18, 2024
- darjushb0 contributionsPrivate driver for coastal sights with lunch and winePrivate tour with Leonardo of Chile Vive Tours was a good way to explore areas of Valparaiso, see Vina Del Mar, and stop by a winery. The private tour allowed us the flexibility to go to a wineyard in Casablanca valley that we preferred (Cases del Bosque) instead of the stand for the tour. Our driver was instrumental in helping us set up this change. We were also able to spend as much or little time as we desired at various landmarks and stop for additional photos, including sea lions near Caleta Diego Portales. Our driver was able to answer judt about any question we had. The included tasting at Rio Tinto Casablanca is meh at best. However, you do have an opportunity to purchase other good wines, quick breakfast and bathroom break on the way. We had lunch at Castillo del Mar which had a great view and good food.Written November 18, 2024
- Winotraveling0 contributionsPerfect day trip from Santiago!Absolutely wonderful experience! This was exactly the type of tour we were hoping to book. Great communication ahead of time and our guide Julio was so knowledgeable and professional. We were able to pack so much into one day, yet never felt rushed. Just the perfect combination of activities, great lunch and a really good wine tasting on the way home. We would definitely use this tour company again.Written November 7, 2024
- ReneB9600 contributions1 1/2 day tour of Santiago and the country sideOur 1 1/2 day tour of Santiago City and of the country side were excellent. During the 1/2 day City tour, our guide and driver Julio took us to all the main buildings and sights: the Cathedral, the old Parliament, the Post Office, Cerro Santa Lucia, Bellavista , and many more. The next day, Julio drove us north of Santiago to the fascinating and welcoming Quintessence Alpaca farm. On the way back to Santiago, we enjoyed a fantastic view of the Andes and of the Aconcagua, After lunch in the Fish Market , we had a further tour of Santiago and the day ended up with a visit to a winery. During these two days, our guide Julio was always extremely pleasant, smiling and most helpful , providing us with clear explanations and suggestions as needed. As for the organisation from France of these tours, and during the tours, we had much cooperation , and always positive and timely responses and proposals from Claudia. Overall an exciting and excellent experience ...Written November 4, 2024
- ChristianFran0 contributionsUNESCO worthy tour, along with beach and winery toursDaniel gave a very detailed tour. Not having the time to rent a car and make the trek myself, being taken to viña del Mar, ValparaĂso, and Casablanca, his attention to detail was terrific. Of the three, Valparaiso to me was the best due to the amazing art/murals on many of the buildings there. It is rightfully deserved to be considered a UNESCO site. Take the tour!Written October 10, 2024
- lizgoulard0 contributionsA must do introduction to SantiagoOur host Julio was fantastic! He showed us all of the highlights of Santiago. He was knowledgeable about Chilean history, culture, and traditions. The tour was a combination of driving and walking through picturesque and historical sites. I highly recommend this tour!Written June 20, 2024

- 88AJ00 contributionsHighly recommendWe loved our tour with Julio. We booked a private tour as there were quite a few of us, and were picked up promptly in a very comfortable and clean van. Julio was very knowledgeable and funny and managed to beat the traffic in a local's way! The restaurants that he suggested were also quite good. The booking process was great as Claudia responded to all questions very quickly and thoroughly. She also was proactive about reaching out to confirm as we got closer to the date. Highly recommend.Written April 8, 2024
- Lena14440 contributionsDisappointedValentina was very nice but trip was a bit disappointing. Very uncomfortable van with tight seats making it difficult not to bump your knees, and I’m short. Van under airconditioned. Wine tasting consisted of one bottle of wine between 6 people. I am used to a wine tasting to be several types of wine. I was just glad to get to my hotel and put the day behind me.Written March 16, 2024
- 482dl0 contributionsGreat tour - not one to missWhat a great tour! Valeska as a guide and Israel as driver made for a good team. First, communication was excellent with confirmation of hotel pickup time. Valeska and Israel arrived on time. We had description of what we were seeing and background information as we traveled to each of the stops. Valeska had a wealth of knowledge that made the entire day one of the best tours we’ve ever taken. We had a picture perfect day with the perfect guide.Written March 15, 2024

- carigarcia0 contributionsOMG BEST tour EVER!!From the start of the tour til the end of the tour everything was superb! Christian our tour guy was excellent, knowledgeable & funny. He made the trip exciting. The group was also a lot of fun. Luis the bus driver got us there safe. I love the way he made sure that we were safe & that the bus was kept clean (which is very important to me). I recommend this tour 1000%Written March 13, 2024
- S1580QWgregc0 contributionsGreat Way to See Vina Del Mar & Valparaiso from SantiagoAll around, a great tour. Very diverse visits between Santiago, Vina Del Mar and Valparaiso. Guide, Steve, was probably the best we’ve ever had. He was very proactive (sent us schedule and tips for day the night before), knowledgeable, and very energetic. He also was great at giving us a head’s up on bathroom break expectations. The tour itself was very busy but a lot of fun. In fact, it was almost too ambitious and in some instances felt hurried…but to get everything promised into the day, it had to be that way. Fish market visit was very cool with sea lions very close by. Lunch was good and not overly-priced. Winery was excellent and alpacas were a surprisingly highlight at the end of the day! Overall, we highly recommend this tour and thought it was definitely worth the price.Written March 6, 2024

I was fortunate to have Diego as my guide for this tour. He was knowledgeable and managed to answer all my questions satisfactorily. Along the way he also pointed out areas of interest for future exploration as well as seedier spots to avoid, which was extremely helpful for a solo traveller like I was. Thank you, Diego!
The tour itself was a great general introduction to Santiago city. I will say that the exact itinerary will not be that shown in the tour description, but depend on the location of your accommodation. All major landmarks were visited or at least passed by, and an empanada snack (or light brunch, depending on your appetite) was included as well. The pace was just right, and is perfect for those who wants an overview of the city but prefers more personal attention and customisation.

I had the best time on my tour with Stef! From beginning to end we clicked and I had a fantastic time. The day passed so quickly because we were having so much fun but I really learned a lot from Stef. I could not recommend this tour enough especially as a solo female traveller it gave me an understanding of the city through which I could navigate.

Brenda was an amazing guide and very knowledgeable about the City. This is such a great way to see the City and be a local. We took public transportation to a local eatery and saw highlights like Cerro S. Lucia, Governor’s palace and had a traditional drink. I highly recommend this tour to have an intimate view and experience walking around the city center.

Our guide Ingrid showed us all the highlights of Santiago and shared her knowledge of local history and culture. The city has many beautiful areas and view points. We walked a lot and took the subway when distances were too far. She was very flexible in adjusting the tour to our needs and when we needed a rest. She introduced us to a variety of local drinks and snacks during the walk as well as during our lunch. We highly recommend this tour.

We took two tours with this company, our first was the Valparasio to Santiago tour. Our guide, Stephanie was personable, pleasant and an excellent guide, keeping us informed as we travelled.
Our second tour was the private walking tour in Santiago with Brenda as our guide. Brenda was great!!
Brenda met us at the hotel and was extremely welcoming, informative with a personable attitude. She kept us secure and safe during our walk and even took the time to warn other tourists of pickpockets in some areas.
Both guides spoke excellent English.

We cannot recommend this tour to other people. The tour guide provided for this tour spoke almost no English. He shared that he had never done a Santiago tour before, which one could easily tell as there was no structure to the agenda. He did not know the material and would often read what was on a sign and translate for us. We learned very little about the city or its history. We ended up cutting the tour off early and heading home.

We deeply regret that the walking tour service has not met your expectations. Jahir, the guide has done other walking Santiago in a normal way and with a good level of English, sometimes receiving positive comments for this. We are greatly surprised by this situation and it helps us to improve the quality of our guides. We sincerely apologize.

After a LOT of research re tour providers in Santiago, I contacted ChileVivo. They proposed a private tour hitting the highlights of Santiago, a quick stop at a Lápiz lazuli fabricator. lunch, and a drive out to the Maipo Valley to the Underraga Winery.
Jaime was our guide and he did an excellent job. We were very pleased with our day. We went to Santa LucĂa Hill and then onto a walking tour of the center. The tour gave us great overview of the capital. They picked us by 8:30AM and dropped us off at our hotel by 5:30pm. The whole day flew by. Jame was VERY professional, knowledgeable and we would highly recommend him.
The next day we took the red line subway 2 stops to Los Domenicos, a fun artisan shops.
Note 1:
After we returned to our hotel, we found out through friends that the Coronavirus was starting to affect travel. We were supposed to leave on the Celebrity Eclipse on the 15th. We quickly cancelled and booked a flight home on the 15th and continued on with the rest of the plans we had made for the week. When we flew home on the 15th, The Eclipse was still circling the port and it was ultimately refused permission to dock and had to sail for San Diego after restocking fuel and provisions.
Note 2
We wish all of you at The ChileVivo team good health during these next few months, and send you our thanks. We know all travel is being shut down as I write this.

Everything was as expected per description. However, the pick-up and drop-off of this tour is within a certain perimeter in town - which I wasn't aware of before I signed up. I was staying at La Quinta hotel at the airport which was outside it. The company did allow for this pick-up and drop-off, but for US$30 more. Also, the time to go from the town center to my hotel was also counted in the tour, which in my case was 1 hour each way by bus and metro, effectively cutting the 6-hour tour to 4 hours only.

Excellent tour, very informative and useful! Santiago opened up like a new world, and the tour guide Jaime was both knowledgeable and service-minded! The tour also included a Chilean lunch and tastes of local fruit drinks which I would have never found myself. All in all, highly recommendable!

I had one day in Santiago before heading out to Patagonia. ChileVivo Tours' Francisco arrived at my hotel where I discovered I was the only guest that day. Asked him to show me "his city," that I had no special request. Had a wonderful day seeing the sights and also gaining insight into the politics, economics, education, Church, culture and food scene in Santiago/Chile. Very personable and accomodating. Highly recommend this tour!

For us, working for one or for several tourists does not make a difference. Our guides always strive to deliver the best of themselves in each excursion and we are very grateful that you appreciated it when making this comment. A pleasure.
