About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- domosed0 contributionsToo short Valparaíso visitThis tour is kind of OK, so much so, that one does get a glimpse and feel of the world heritage town of Valparaíso. A nice short guided walk is included. But instead of allowing for free time there, the busload of tourists (the group is certainly not small) are dumped into an otherwise completely empty overpriced restaurant in the nothing-to-write-home-about beach resort next door. It's a huge anticlimax. The wine tasting toilet stop before breakfast is not worth even mentioning. Even less - the way too long process of picking up and dropping off people at different hotels.Written February 11, 2025
- mjpshaw0 contributionsGreat city+ tourWe really enjoyed the tour. Our guide Consuelo Gutiérrez was very knowledgeable and professional. She and the driver not only showed us many interesting places around the city, but they also took us to the country side to explore beautiful nature and nearby small towns that tourists normally don’t get to see. We had a great time.Written February 9, 2025
- Tasnia_240 contributionsWonderful experience and excellent tour guideThis is a great trip. Itinerary is well designed. Our tour guide Alexis Soto is magnificent. He is kind, courteous, friendly, funny and very knowledgeable. He even showed Chilean traditional dance forms by dancing himself! He kept us very well informed of every step of the trip from start to finish. He is phenomenal!!! Our driver David is a great driver too. Overall, I enjoyed the trip thoroughly.Written February 9, 2025
- rebeccasT8055DH0 contributionsHappy with MTO Tours ChileWe booked two tours with get your guide and both were run by MTO Tours. One to Canyon Maipo the other one to Valparaiso. We enjoyed both. Guides spoke good English. For the Valparaiso our guide was Alexis. He is enthusiastic and interesting to listen to.Written February 9, 2025
- VerTheGreat0 contributionsGreat Tour - Hope you get Alexis!Alexis was our guide — because of him the tour was so good! Very helpful, friendly, funny, and super knowledgeable of all things you’d want to know. Great recommendations. The lineup of the tour was well thought out. The winery tasting was not our style, chocolate wine, sweet wine, etc, but they had some delightful bottles for sale. Valparaiso and Viña Del Mar were gorgeous, and walking tour was fun and informative. Alexis clearly knew just what he was doing, very competent. We found his English easy to understand. Kind of amazing that he was able to keep a bus full of all different tourists in line lol. And seamlessly switch from one language to another. Great tour! If you do this, hope you get Alexis!Written February 7, 2025
- BandPenn0 contributionsA Good Evening with an Opportunity for ImprovementsThe tour was mostly driven with two stops: Bicentennial Park and Santa Lucia Hill. Luis did a good job with his commentary, but stops to walk around Plaza des Armas and the Presidential Palace areas (rather than drive-bys) would have been nice. On the dinner and show, my wife and I tend to avoid folklore shows (this was a last minute substitution for another tour that was canceled). The dinners tend to be mediocre and the shows hokey. This one’s food was quite good and plentiful. The show was OK. They had music, song, and dances from the four parts of the Chilean nation – South, Central, North, and Rapa Nui (Easter Island). The challenge for us was the time in-between each section to allow for costume changes. The MC sang a pop song and went around the room asking everyone where they were from. They also had a tribute to couples celebrating their anniversaries and people celebrating birthdays. The transitions got pretty hokey. The first three parts of the main music and dancing (South, Central, and North Chile) had some good traditional music and dancing. However, the part on Rapa Nui was pretty over the top, with scantily clad women and men and war dances. I suspect a Rapa Nui native might object. In summary, with some improvements, the tour was good. If you like folklore shows, you should like this one.Written February 7, 2025

- billp7970 contributionsGreat day and experienceThe trip was amazing with a great view through the Andes. Can’t believe how light blue the reservoir was. Our guide Edison was so knowledable. To drive all the switchbacks was a challenge and his ability to take the switchbacks on was great. We made stops to take pictures as promised. Lunch as promissed was great and not part of the tour as promissed. I wish the “picnic” was overlooking the mountains and resevoir and probably should not have been held 15 minutes after lunch. Pickup and length of tour were as promissedWritten February 3, 2025

- Journey085139100660 contributionsThe tour is very complete, and the landscapes are incredibleI took this tour with my husband and we really enjoyed the route. The tour is very complete, and the landscapes are incredible. The guide explains everything very clearly, which makes the experience even more enriching. Valparaíso is a perfect city for those who enjoy street art and history. On the other hand, Viña del Mar offers the most beautiful connection with the Pacific Ocean you can have. As a recommendation, don't go to the restaurant they take you to. There are much nicer and cheaper places around the area. About this specific Agency, i will list some pros and cons: Pros: The itinerary is great; they give you perfect amounts of time to enjoy each stop. The bus is comfortable, the driver is professional. The guide, Joddah, was very kind and clear with all instructions. He has great communication skills and is also very polite, which is hard to find. Cons: The logistics and communication could be improved. First of all, they sent us all messages in English. Although I speak and understand English, it's not my first language, and my husband doesn't speak it at all. We're both from Chile. Another issue is that we provided our address and chose this specific tour because the publication said they would pick us up in Providencia. However, the day before the tour, they informed us that the pick-up would be 2 km away from our location. When I asked why they couldn't pick us up at our address, they told me we were "too far" from the pick-up area. We had to walk 2 km with our backpacks to the "meeting point." Here’s the funny part: after we got on the bus, they continued picking up passengers, and the driver even went to pick up another passenger who was waiting very close to the address we had originally provided.Written January 27, 2025

We expected a small group but we were picked up by a car and there were just us. THe driver/tour guide was not very informative, just answered our questions. We visited 3 wineries. Our schedule for the last was 15:30 and yet he brought to an off-the-road lousy pizza place for quick lunch. Worst experience ever.

The timing for this tour among the three wineries visited was quite poorly managed. After touring the first winery, we were told that there would be a 3.5 hour wait until the tour of the second winery started and that we should use the time to get lunch. But it was 11:15 AM and we were not ready for lunch. So we asked to be taken to the second winery and we would skip the tour and just have the tasting. But there was no communication between our driver, the tour window and the tasting room and we were going to be charged for tasting even though we had paid for a tasting and a tour. Our driver paid a fee and we were able to taste. We then were driven to the third winery where a tour in English just happened to be starting and we joined and were allowed to taste.
When the tour was booked on VIATOR, we were not given an option of which level of wines to taste and so we had to pay extra to taste the best wines.
All in all a very disappointing day considering the cost.

Very attentive driver, it was just my husband and I in the vehicle.
We really liked the wineries, but I think it's more viable not to end the tour with lunch, I recommend doing it on your own at the restaurant in one of them, as what's in the package is at an external restaurant: El Manso Toro (Ah! Even though everything is paid at the restaurant they took us to, they charged a separate tip, as they said this was not in the package)

If you do not purchase the wine tour with included lunch, will there be time to stop for lunch on our own between tastings?
