Itinerary
- 510 Lor 6 Toa Payoh, Singapore 319398we will meet at the Passenger Service Counter of Toa Payoh MRT Station.
- 1Stop by beautiful shophouses and townhouses that were the prevailing form of housing in Singapore's town centre in the early years. Uncover the ideas that go behind the architecture design of these buildings and how they provided a living for people then. Proceed to visit a traditional coffee roaster. Coffee is a daily beverage for most local. Trace the story behind Singapore's coffee culture and how Singapore coffee differs from western coffee. Continue on to a traditional bakery and discover how the bread, together with coffee created a traditional breakfast combination that owe much to Western influence, but with a twist. End at the hawker centre and wet market where locals go to have meals and buy fresh produce/ meat. Over here, one will be able to immerse in the sight, sound and smell at the wet market and be amazed by the variety of affordable local cooked food at the hawker centre. We will try some food or snacks here.

- michaelmaried0 contributionsA fantastic day at Pulau UbinWe thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Pulau Ubin with our guide Keith, who was very knowledgeable of the area and passionate about preserving the flora and fauna of the island. Unfortunately, unknown to Keith the stop at Teck Seng’s Place was closed however Keith was able to talk about the house and living standards of the time in great detail with photos. Thank you Keith for a great bicycle tour.Written April 28, 2024
- murphy31200 contributionsPretty Views, Very RusticI had read that this was a great place to experience life as it was in old Singapore. I expected more of a "national park" sort of experience, with some guides so that we would know where to go and what to do. (I have since learned that there are more guided activities and access to parts of the island on the weekends, and we were there during the week.) The bumboat ride was fun, and the people we interacted with in the village area were friendly. There were quite a few school groups setting up camp and doing activities. It was quite a long Grab ride from our hotel and it was hard to find a ride back.Written March 28, 2023
- Penne E0 contributionsGreat morning on Pulau UbinKeith was knowledgeable and interesting. He paced our walk to suit our fitness and interests. The wildlife was abundant and engaging and the wetlands gave us an insight into what old Singapore was like. The village while a little commercial was authentic and rustic but very welcoming. We loved our time on the island. There were ferries ($4 each) coming and going all the time, so there was very little waiting time. We would highly recommend this tour.Written September 14, 2022
