    What to Expect
Regular flights between Bali and the centre of Java’s immense cultural treasures, Yogyakarta, makes it possible to find yourself visiting UNESCO World Heritage sites and the abundance of stories and tales that relate to what has made Yogyakarta such a high-in-demand destination. Just over an hour’s flight from Bali (not included), our representative will pick you up from your hotel early in the morning to be on time in taking one of the first morning flights. You’ll be warmly welcomed by our representative at Yogyakarta Airport from where we head straight out to see the various sites that made this region so popular.

From Yogyakarta Airport, we head to Borobudur, the world's biggest Buddhist monument complex dated from the 8th and 9th Century. The temple is considered as one of the Seven Wonders of the World and sits majestically on a hilltop overlooking lush green fields and distant hills. It was rediscovered by Sir Stamford Raffles in 1815 buried under volcanic ash and was restored with the help of UNESCO in the 1970s.

The journey continues in Yogyakarta’s old city to visit Kraton, the Sultan's Palace. It is a grand complex that reflects the Javanese cosmos. Kraton was not only designed to be a royal residence but also to be a focal point of the Sultan’s entire kingdom. After lunch, continue to Kota Gede, a historic neighbourhood in Yogyakarta, famous for its silver industry since the 1930's. It was the first capital of the Islamic Mataram kingdom, founded by Panembahan Senopati in 1582.

The last stop will be the Prambanan temple complex which was erected in the middle of the 9th century during the reigns of two kings, namely Rakai Pikatan and Rakai Balitung.  Locally known as the Loro Jongrang temple or the temple of the "Slender Virgin" it is reputed to be the biggest and most beautiful Hindu Temple in Indonesia. It is located fairly close to the Buddhist temple, Borobudur, showing that on Java, Buddhists and Hindus lived peacefully next to each other.

We head back to Yogyakarta airport to catch your evening flight back to Bali (flight not included) where you will be transferred back to your hotel along one of Bali’s southern beaches.
