About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- kikibee4200 contributionsGreat trip with a very knowledgeable guideA beach, lots of rocks, sea caves, arches, island visit - in all it was lovely cruising along in a sampan boat and learning about the geography of the area while taking in the views with Wouter who is a great guide. For me a trip is a good one when everything is handled well from the word 'go' as was the case with this outing - great communication, precise information and an enthusiastic guide. The noisy sampan engine sometimes made it a little difficult for us to hear Wouter. We felt the price was a bit steep but Wouter explained rather satisfactorily the reasons for the same. All in it was a great outing and we would recommend it to anyone wishing to explore this lesser known but beautiful region of Hong Kong.Written May 23, 2019
- lisa c0 contributionsHong Kong Country Park, It was an very enjoyable day out in the country-side of Hong KongPlove Cove Country Park was an enjoyable day outing, during the tour, our guide Wouter pointed out to us those distinguish natural wildlife and geo-rock formation around the area, he made the trip very entertaining and educational. Thank youWritten November 25, 2018
- Sabine K0 contributionsGet to know the outskirts of Hong KongHong Kong has so much variety to offer within such a small area that it is a pity to only see the concrete jungle. Wouter, who organizes the tours, knows the outskirts very well and will take you to the nice spots where a tourist probably would not go by himself. We did snorkeling and kayaking in Sai Kung and enjoyed it. Everything was well organized and worked out as planned.Written October 31, 2018
- Sabine K0 contributionsGreat snorkeling tripWe had a great snorkeling trip, with everything working out as planned. Without the experience of our guide Wouter it would have been a hassle to find out where to go and how. Booking through the website and payment was easy. All our questions were answered beforehand and the meetingpoint was described well. We took a Taxi to Hoi Ha which is a ride through a nice scenery. In Hoi Ha we rented Kayaks to paddle to where the corals and the fish are. It is a very sheltered bay without waves and winds to it is easy to paddle even for beginners. Nevertheless, we felt our muscles the next day. Our (teenage) kids loved the experience. You get a very different impression of Hong Kong when you visit the outskirts.Written October 22, 2018
- Peter S0 contributionsKayaking and SnorkelingFirstly, the area in which the activities took place in was outstanding, the views were brilliant. However, the instructor didn't live up to our expectations. The level of professionalism portrayed by the tour guide was low. 1 There was a lack of information on what clothing would be suitable for the trip, we don't live in Hong Kong, we wouldn't know what to wear when on a all day trip. My partner wore a bikini top with a vest top to cover it, the guide said You brought something to cover your shoulders yeah? She was never made aware prior to the trip that this would be needed. 2 Whilst the activities were taking place, the instructor had decided to take a nap on his kayak whilst we were snorkeling. What if one of us had suddenly started drowning, would he even be aware of it happening? 3 The tour guide made a comment about my weight.. I was attempting to climb back into the kayak and was struggling, if any of you have been kayaking before you would understand it is quite tricky to get onto the kayak once in water. When I was attempting to re-board the kayak, my partner said to me use your stomach muscles! The instructor then replied You've got enough stomach but no muscle. I would never dream of saying this to anybody, comments about weight should never be made unless you're completely comfortable with the people that are given them. This was then I lost respect for the guide. 4 At the beginning of the day, we were told that we were going to kayak to 4 different places throughout the day, we had kayaked to two locations. Due to the guide being asleep for so long whilst we were in the water, there was no tracking of time meaning we had ran out of time and the day had come to an end. When we had come to the beach, we were told that we had just ten minutes to change from soaking wet clothes and get dry into new clothing as this was when the bus would come. Once we had got changed, the guide was telling us to hurry up whilst walking to the bus stop as he wanted to desperately get on the bus which was not included within the price of booking, this was paid by my partner and I. Whilst on the bus, the guide had told us that he was going to get off before the agreed stop which is on the conformation email as it would be quicker for him to get home, we were left on the bus not knowing where we were or where to go. We had to rely on locals by asking them for directions back to where we are staying which took 2 and a half hours.Written July 22, 2017
- chris d0 contributionsFantastic family day outWouter organised a super day out for myself, wife and kids aged 6 and 8 around the geopark. We enjoyed hiking on and off concrete paths, a lovely seafood lunch in a remote fishing village and a scenic sampan ride back to Sai Kung. Along the way Wouter was stimulating company; he showed us corners of HK my (Hong Kong born) wife had never seen, and entertained all of us with his local and geological knowledge. A very enjoyable day and heartily recommended. We will be back on our next trip for snorkelling and/ or kayaking!Written April 14, 2017
- regleo0 contributionsInteresting Sai Kung islands cruiseWhile you could get around the islands on your own by making use of the boat services at the Sai Kung Pier, Wouter provided information about the history of the places we visited and made explanations on the rock formations we seen during the boat ride. He even prepared a sample of rocks for us to examine after he explained some of the common rocks found in the area. Reminds me of a geology module I took years ago haha. Definitely recommended especially if you need or prefer an English speaking guide like me. A wonderful way to spend a relaxing afternoon as it is not taxing at all and suitable for all ages.Written January 10, 2017
- JPJmaa0 contributionsBat walk - enyoyable3 hour walk started at 8pm and finish 11pm. Our 13 & 15 years old teen found the walk very interest. Very enjoyable esp during Oct. and under half moon. Need to wear a pair of walking shoes. Wouter is a good guide.Written October 26, 2015

- Aecd10 contributionsAn adventure! My husband and I went on the firefly hike in Hong Kong Geopark on Saturday. It was a lovely group of people and although a challenging hike, it was something that I am glad we have experienced. Seeing the fireflies, toads and even a snake! I would definitely recommend this but make sure you a prepared. Wear sensible walking shoes and take insect repellent and water.Written September 15, 2014
- YUANMIN G0 contributionsGreat experience!Really fun experience. Patient explanation and guidence. The whole trip is so expiring that it trigers my interest in biogology. Highly recommended!Written September 13, 2014
- aDreamweaver0 contributionsfireflies watching tourHong Kong is a concrete jungle, we rarely walking in nature. Therefore I think it is a good tour for Hong Kongers to have a deeper understanding on our motherland, though the guide is a foreigner. I really appreciate your efforts.Written September 12, 2014
- chaulamcheung0 contributionsfireflies walkIt was perhaps one of the best things to do in HK. It was the best way to see what the HK countryside has to offer. Wouter is knowledgeable and it was a very lovely walk. We were very lucky to see a great number of fireflies and were truly astounded by the beauty of HK countryside. Wouter also found a Fushin Wolf snake. I highly recommend this night walk.Written September 8, 2014
- JMak20140 contributionsA fun & cool tripIt is a fun trip to Sham chung & lai chi ching (geo park). Tx Wouter for explaining all the formation of various rocks. This is a wonderful experience and we friends had a very good Sunday out,Written September 7, 2014
- Willtravel90 contributionsBrilliantI went on the all day tour 'Hexagonal Columns' - it was great. We were a party of 7 - all different nationalities. We explored the Geopark and cave, then went across country to a gorgeous beach and the to a temple. Great lunch in a little village and then collected by a sampan for a fascinating tour of the islands. Our guide was fun, helpful and interesting. I would only caution that this tour, in the heat of Hong Kong is not easy - I was very exhausted and hot on a couple of occasions, so make sure you are ready, wearing a hat, with plenty of water.Written September 7, 2014
