What to expect
Depart in the afternoon from your Hong Kong Island or Kowloon hotel. Meet your guide aboard the coach, which takes you to Tung Chung. From there, you'll hop on the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car for an aerial ride to Ngong Ping Village, a 3-mile (5.7-km) journey over Lantau Island. You're treated to 360-degree panoramic views of the South China Sea and North Lantau Country Park. If you upgraded to a crystal cabin, equipped with a glass bottom, expand your bird's-eye view of rolling grassland slopes right beneath your feet.  Enjoy free time to walk around the cultural-themed village of Ngong Ping. Climb the 268 steps to reach the Big Buddha, the world's largest outdoor bronze Buddha statue, weighing 250 tons. Gain admission to Po Lin Monastery, the most popular Buddhist temple in HK.  Afterward, you will make a stop at the fishing village of Tai O by coach. Once the largest inhabited settlement on Lantau Island, the village waterfront offers a glimpse into Hong Kong's past and provides a striking contrast with the modern city. A boat trip around the stilt houses of this tightly-knit fishing community is included. Don't miss the Tai O Heritage Hotel, built in 1902; formerly the Tai O Police Station, the hotel features a colonial design that represents its vintage architectural charm. At the end of your tour, you'll be dropped off in Hong Kong Island or Kowloon.

Unfortunate foggy day
Weather was not on our side that day. We were completely ‘lost’ in fog during the crystal cabin cable car ride & Buddha statue site visit. We also were not able to do the full boat ride due to this weather condition. I would recommend to check any possible weather forecasts prior to making the booking decision & if possible not to book it very much in advance as you really need good weather for this tour. My rating is related to my experience as I cannot rate better something I was not able to experience.

Jan 2020 • Couples
This was an absolutely fantastic tour and well exceeded our expectations.
The guide was very efficient gave us clear times and explanations throughout the tour.
The cable car is delightful and as for the fishing boat well I never expected to see a pink dolphin but I did!
The timing was perfect and we got back to our hotel about 630. The whole afternoon was well-planned and well spaced. As previously mentioned the drive after the boat trip is very very windy and about an hour so take that on board if you have travel sickness.
Highly recommended

Great trip to see a different part of Hong Kong
Dec 2019
Great cable car ride- we chose a glass bottom (crystal) cabin- views were spectacular. Lovely to see the Temple and the Big Buddha, then over to see an authentic fishing village- seeing houses on stilts in varying levels of ruin- most still inhabited then on to see a heritage hotel on the China border. It was fascinating-walking through narrow streets lined with stalls selling fish bladders- to get to the small boat which took us over to the Heritage Hotel- formerly the police station. Great guide- thank you for a lovely afternoon

Great half day tour of HK
Oct 2019 • Couples
Well organised, we were picked up and dropped off at our hotel and managed to squeeze a lot in the six hour trip. We had a small group of six with a very experienced tour guide (Rex) who provided a lot of history and background to the sites we visited. The cable car was excellent, recommend upgrading to the crystal cabin car for the spectacular views. Was a hot day so recommend taking a good hat and walking shoes/water.

A great afternoon with Andy as our guide
Three of us went on this tour and found it well worth the price. The trip was comfortable in an air conditioned coach and we had no waiting for any of the sites. We did the upgrade to the crystal bottom cable car and it was worth the small upgrade to see below the car - the path and the people challenging the 4 hour 5.7 km walk up - much easier in the cable car. We had no wait to see the Big Buddha or the Monastery and we were there on Buddha’s birthday - an HK holiday. We were less impressed with the Tai O fishing village and we didn’t see dolphins on our boat ride. The ride was nice on the water and not too long. It was impressive to see the highway to The new territory disappear under water of a section and then reappear at the end of the tunnel but still in the middle of the. At - an engineering marvel. The tour lasted the 6 hours it said it would and we decided to take the Star Ferry back across to HK from Calhoun - much faster than taking the shuttle buss that picked us up originally on the HK side.

Lantau Island
The queue for the gondolas was excruciating. Buying a ticket to the crystal cabin (return fare at 290HKD) also does not provide any benefits and as there are five to seven standard cabins to each crystal the movement of the queue is at best slow.

The authorities should post the extreme wait for the gondolas - up to 2 hours - sometimes longer.

Also try and pick a clear(ish) day as many times the mists are so thick it is difficult to see much from the 20 minute gondola ride.

Once you have climbed the hill to the shrine the Buddha statue is impressive and the monastery nearby picturesque.

To reach the Buddha you have to walk through a the equivalent of a tourist high street - a bit like a smaller version of Disneyland without the characters. Subway; Starbucks etc etc.
