- Liveandsee230 contributionsMagical. I could have cried. Beautiful. Some tips in my review. Do the Symphony of Lights Cruise. This was like a dream come true for me. I come to Hong Kong often but had never done this before. Not sure why! Book a ticket online as numbers are limited. It wasn't that cheap but it was once in a lifetime with views to die for. Bucket list tick to board a traditional Chinese junk boat and take in one of the most beautiful and iconic skylines in the world. The price of the ticket includes a complimentary beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic). I did the Symphony of Lights Cruise. The first pick up was at Central Pier 9 at 19:30 where I boarded and the second pick up at Tsim Sha Tsui Pier 1 at 19:45. The cruise disembarks at Central Pier 9. There appeared to be two boats doing the same thing but the other boat did it the other way round, so first pick up at Tsim Sha Tsui Pier 1. Whatever way you do it, just make sure you are on the first pick up. Remember one boat will disembark at Central Pier 9 and the other at Tsim Sha Tsui Pier 1. I opted for the pick up from Central Pier 9 which was at 19:30. You are told to be there 15 minutes prior to the scheduled sailing time. Be there on time or early even and I will tell you why below! I was there by 19:00 and second in line. The boat arrived early and we boarded and departed efficiently. All very well organised. Peaceful, relaxing and very emotional too for me. Lovely atmosphere with nice light music. The night I went it was very chilly, you can't control weather but there are blankets. Wrap up. I got a lovely comfy seat with a front side view and luck must have been on my side. A Symphony of Lights starts at 20:00 sharp and lasts around 10 minutes. I had bagged the perfect spot right in the middle facing the skyline. Lucky! That was because I arrived early and boarded second after another couple. I am not going to complain as I had the perfect evening. However, it was a little unfair as Central Pier 9 was the first collection point. A lot more people boarded the boat at Tsim Sha Tsui Pier 1. Although there were enough seats outside for all, the best ones were already taken by all of us that had boarded at the first pick up spot. As I said, I can't complain as I had the best seat and did feel a little bad on others. The whole experience was something I will never forget. The boat is not overcrowded. I think there must have been only around twenty-five people so it was not rowdy. You can move around to take photographs. Staff are all super nice and friendly. The boat was clean. Don't worry if you get motion sickness, it was not at all rocky. Cannot recommend enough.Written January 13, 2025
- oaklet0 contributionsLights on the Harbour.Easy to find the pier and the queue for our departure was managed well. we left from Tsim Sha Tsui Pier 1. Our departure time was 7.30pm but we lined up areound 6.45pm and were about 8th in line then. They line up pretty early. The pier can be crowded we were lucky we walked down the night before so we knew where to go. On board you need to move fast to secure your seat, we chose seats on the deck, comfy seats and a table with a drinks holder so you could put it down without risk of it falling over. A lovely trip on the water lots to see and photo opportunities. my husband had beer, which was cold, so all good - served quickly and chilled. We liked the laser show but it is a but underwhelming compared to all the hype that comes with it. The lights and displays the hotels put on were good, can understand why its not more spectacular, but its a shame they don't tell you the earlier boat ride had a drone display, we were lucky to see it while standing waiting for the boat to come and pick us up. In any case, we were happy with the boat trip, cool breeze and just enjoying the moment. There are plenty of people to help you disembark. We bought tickets direct. Would definitely do it again.Written January 9, 2025

- ECFoodNTravels0 contributionsRelaxing evening cruiseThe Aqua Luna cruise was quite fun and relaxing. Do get to the pier early to queue. I was there by 7.15pm for my 7.45pm cruise at Tsim Sha Tsui. Heck, I was there even before they formed a line for the slightly earlier 7.30pm cruise! When we finally got on the boat, there were already some people on board. Being first in the queue meant that I was ushered to arguably the best seat for the Symphony of Lights show. (As you board, turn immediately to your right, and find a seat on the right side of the boat, meaning you will be facing the pier and also closest to it. Those on the left side of the boat will be furthest from the pier.) However, do note that the 10-minute light show itself is a bit underwhelming. I had expected it though, since I had already seen it from the 102nd floor of the Ritz Carlton the evening before. Yet I still enjoyed the relaxing 45-minute cruise around Victoria Harbour. The weather was good and the air was pleasantly cool. The sound of the waves was therapeutic too. The cruise ended on Hong Kong Island, so I took a ferry back to Tsim Sha Tsui.Written December 20, 2024

TripAdvisor would not allow me to reschedule the tickets or refund the cost of the tickets. Appalling way of doing business. I wonder what consumer recourse is applicable, under Homg Kong regulations or TripAdvisor rules. - fulltimeholidayer0 contributionsAqua LunaEasy to find the pier and the queue for our departure was managed well. On board we chose seats on the upper deck, comfy seats and a table with a drinks holder so you could put it down without risk of it falling over. A lovely trip on the water lots to see and photo opportunities. I upgraded to the champagne, and my husband had beer, all good - served quickly and chilled. Not their fault, but I was a but underwhelmed by the laser show! But, the lights and displays the hotels put on were good, and in any case, I was happy with the boat trip and the fizz. - 583kashp0 contributionsMixed virwsThe views and the lighting on the buildings were great. However, there was nothing special about the aqua Luna cruise apart from it being an old imitation junk boat. The laser show itself was very disappointing and certainly nothing like I had imagined it might be like.Written October 1, 2024

The Symphony of Lights in Hong Kong was incredibly underwhelming, but we actually really loved our cruise. The boat is beautiful, the drinks are fine, and it is the perfect amount of time to sail around the harbor and see the city without being too long. I would recommend skipping the Symphony of Lights cruise and going at sunset or after the show is over!

This was a great way to spend our last night in Hong Kong, out on the water sipping Moët, looking at the lights and sights. It was a colder night than we expected, so blankets were provided which were appreciated. Seating is spacious and comfortable in a day bed style. Nibbles were ok, and not spectacular, but we went for the sun set cruise not the food.... farmer better ways of getting calories you don’t need from the tasteful shops at every corner.

There was no signage or any staff present at pier 1. We just followed the queue, which was practically useless as after awhile others came and just cut straight in front. Awful start before even boarding, which could have easily been prevented if there was a staff present.
DO NOT BOARD AT CENTRAL, that’s the best advice I’ll have to offer. We were lucky we boarded at Tsim Sha Tsui because we already filled up more than half of the boat’s capacity and all the outdoor seats were already taken up. There were a lot more people waiting to board at Central where seats were already limited and you’re left with the not so uncomfortable ones either too far inside/middle with blocked view or “seats”/blocks without backrest.
Standard drinks available. Don’t expect good service. It’s just a take your order and deliver your drink service. View is just meh, unless you like to see buildings after buildings. Ambience was also meh, as ours was obviously a full capacity load and everyone around was noisy.
In short: Bad system, or rather a lack of system present marred the already lackluster experience of Aqua Luna. The only saving grace was the delightfully cool breeze that you won’t get on land.

My friend who lived in Hong Kong for 12 years suggested this cruise (with a drink and music) and we absolutely loved it! Highly recommended! We chose the sunset cruise, as we wanted to see Victoria Harbour at sunset but also at night. There is also an evening cruise to see the "Symphony of Lights" show.

We took the last cruise of the evening so the crew began their closing midway through the trip. They collected the ambient lighting, folded blankets, and took down the sails. So much for atmosphere!! Ha! In any case, it was a very pleasurable time. The crew members were delightful and very helpful getting on and off the boat. Would definitely do it again...only earlier in the evening!

Great way to get a view of the city view and lights for around an hour. Took the sunset cruise and had a wine. The front seats are better as it gives you clear views and direct winds. Tad pricey but worth the experience.

I just don't understand the 4 and 5 star reviews.
Firstly the Symphony of Lights laser show is pretty pitiful - a few weak lights emanating from two buildings, moving in time with music, for a few minutes. I was expecting something spectacular but it definitely isn't. Yes the flashing lights are pretty on the various buildings in the Central area of Hong Kong, but it's not a laser show. And actually the view from the boat isn't that much better than just watching from the water's edge at Tsim Sha Tsui in Kowloon.
Secondly, I don't get the benefit of going on an old creaky junk over any other more modern boat. The staff were friendly and you get a complimentary drink thrown in, but I would rather have been on some other boat.
Maybe I'm missing something, but based on my experience I just couldn't recommend Aqua Luna.

I enjoyed the ride. You're welcome with a drink, I had a white wine. The weather was perfect and it was very pleasant, I don't know what happens if the weather is bad. The boat ride in all was probably less than hour. Relaxing and enjoyable.

Could you please tell me how to travel back to the airport after the cruise finishes ? I would plan to join the cruise at Central Pier 9, but believe if finishes over the other side of the harbour?
Written February 16, 2019
I will be arriving at the airport at 5.20 pm and then flying on after midnight - 12.25. I am tossing up between taking a train into central station and either taking a cruise, or taking the Peak Tram up to Victoria Peak. I have a few questions.
1. How long does it take to get through customs?
2. Would it be realistic to think I could get to the 7.30pm cruise?
3. Would it be easy to walk to the Peak Tram stop or should we get a taxi from the train station?
4. Who would suggest just kicking back in a lounge and not stressing about touring Hong Kong instead?
5. Are there any tours like the Singapore transit tour in Hong Kong?

I would like to book this cruise in November, can it be done on this site?
Written August 21, 2018
Hi Kaye, I’ve noticed that you can book via its website and/or other HKG travelling websites too with perhaps slightly different prices. There’s many time slot you can choose. I made my booking through phone call as I’m a resident but in your case web booking is the best or having a concierge of your hotel book it for you.
