Perfect way to spend a layover in Hong Kong
Spending 4 hours with Kiyo was the perfect way to enjoy an 8 hour layover in Hong Kong. He met me in the airport and planned an afternoon/evening based on my interests. He was fun and friendly and I learned so much. Ate amazing food, saw so many things and came away with an experience I shall never forget.

The Hong Kong we wanted to see
We booked this after a recommendation from another guide who was fully booked for our day. It turned out to be a great experience. Our guide, Pearline and her driver (I forget his name) did and absolutely amazing job showing us around the Hong Kong we wanted to see. Their planning and execution of the itinerary was spot on. They knew where and when to pick up and drop off and were totally professional. Pearline never seemed to stop talking and smiling the whole day and made the tour just great fun. Not the cheapest but you do get what you pay for. Thank you Jacky. 👍🏼

Fantastic in-depth experience touring Hong Kong with Jacky Wong
We could not have imagined a better and more comprehensive tour of Hong Kong with the expert commentary provided by owner/operator Jacky Wong. Jacky has a fascinatingly interesting way of conveying Hong Kong’s history providing both visits to actual sites in a sequential manner historically and painting a vivid mental image of the evolution of this cosmopolitan city where East meets west.

Fantastic Day to Lantau with Jacky Wong
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the 5 hour tour with expert tour guide Jacky Wong, one of 4 days of tours we experienced with him. We started in the unique Tai O fishing village, which certainly proved to be the highlight of the day. We saw how fishermen as they retired placed their boats onto stilts above the water, insulated them and sided them with tin, and then turned them into their homes. From there we took a 10-minute drive to the Giant Buddha which was designed in the 1970’s and built in the 1990’s sitting proudly atop a hill overlooking a beautiful landscape. Our concerns of walking up and down the 252 steps to reach the Giant Buddha, the management of the site actually provided a car and driver to take us to the base of the Buddha! It made what could have been a physically challenging day a real pleasure! We would never have had this fantastic experience and seen so much in 5 hours if we had not decided to take the private tour with Jacky Wong!

Stranded in the rain and traffic
Frustrating tour, not what I expected. The tour company was helpful in altering the time to fit my schedule but it was my understanding that they would get tickets for various attractions in advance. They did not. I was told later by the guide that we would have needed WhatsAp to do that. We don’t use such apps. So we were not able to wait in the long lines and could only see the attractions in passing. No ferris wheel, no cable car. The traffic was unusually bad and it started raining. We were asked by the guide where we wanted to go but we had previously emailed that info in hopes that the route could be figured out in advance. The guide took us first to Chinatown and we did enjoy shopping. The guide stayed with the car so we had to find our way back. We were brought to Garden by the Bay but did not have adequate time nor help with finding our way. We had to buy a ticket first and only had 20 minutes for a 45 minute attraction. It was difficult finding our guide and car in the rain and crowds. Then we were brought to Little India although we had not expressed any interest in it. We were dropped off and so we wondered around, choosing not to shop for the features silks and Indian clothing. Our guide was nowhere to be seen so we had to wait at the drop off place, in the rain. The guide talked a lot about te culture and history of Singapore.

Wonderful Lantau Island tour with Ashley
Ashley was a superb guide, so knowledgeable about the history and culture of Japan and we learned a lot from her that day. A lovely walk through the fishing village of Tai O with a delicious lunch in a local restaurant. Then a fascinating trip to Big Buddha and the museum inside which Ashley brought to life with her explanation of the paintings and information about Chinese characters and language history. She was the perfect guide and we felt privileged to have spent the day with her.

          Amazing tour, amazing guide!
We had the most amazing 4 hour tour with Kiyo! Before the day, Kiyo messaged to introduce himself, set up a meeting point and check details like food allergies and what we were interested in seeing. On the day, Kiyo was perfectly and time instantly made us feel welcomed and excited! The whole tour was brilliant, Kiyo was incredibly knowledgeable on both the history and current state of Hong Kong. We got to try local foods, visit different markets, travel on all the different transport including the tram and ferry! And of course had the opportunity to take lots of photos and ask lots of questions. I learnt so much on this tour and am so pleased we did it. Thank you Kiyo for making our layover in Hong Kong an exciting adventure!

Wonderful tour of Lantau with Jacky
We loved our Lantau Island tour with Jacky, who is a wonderful and very engaging guide - he picked us from our hotel and drove us all around Lantau through the backroads, visiting the large reservoir, the Tai O fishing village, and the Big Buddha/Po Lin Monastery before taking the cable car and ending at the airport for our onward flight. It is possible to visit these places on your own, but it would take a lot of planning and time, so Jacky was worth every penny. He is an expert in all things Lantau and Hong Kong, and it was a very fun and worthwhile tour!

          Fabulous tour of Hong Kong
Incredible tour of Hong Kong! We had an 11 hour layover and Jacky's 6 hour tour was perfect to kill time. He was very well educated, answered all of our questions, and was able to give us a taste of the city in just six hours. He took us to amazing places throughout the city, and also brought us to a great authentic restaurant. We are so happy we booked this tour with Jacky, it was the perfect end to our trip and he really gave us the Hong Kong experience in just a few hours!

Nice way to arrive in Hong Kong
The driver was prompt and helpful with a clear explanation on What’sApp of how to find our way to the car. It was a very nice way to start our trip.

          Wonderful tour of Hong Kong
My husband and I were in Hong Kong for the first time. It was mostly a work trip, so we only had one day to really see the city together. Jackie gave us a wonderful overview of the city. We covered so much ground during our 4 hour tour. We learned a lot about the history of Hong Kong, tried some traditional food, explored the wet markets, and visited a fishing village. Jackie also gave me some great tips on things to do during the rest of our stay in Hong Kong, and offered his number for me to call for ideas and tips. It was a perfect tour.

If you’re visiting Hong Kong I would highly recommend booking a tour with Jacky. He did such an amazing time showing us the highlights of Hong Kong and we all had a great time hanging out with him. He’s super nice and so fun to hang out with.

Fun Macau trip for the day!
My family of 5 did the Private Customized Day Tour of Macau. It was my first time to go by bridge and it was very convenient and comfortable. We went on a Saturday so the crowds very quite thick. The last time I was in Macau was 15 yrs ago. The construction of roads & buildings were everywhere, but the Heritage spots were protected. Jacky was knowlegeable & eloquent and the tour covered a lot of ground. We got to taste Macanese food in a restaurant frequented by locals only. Jacky adjusted the schedule according to our needs which was good, as we could only handle a certain amount of casino tours. We were more interested in the historical part of the tour. From the hotel pick up in Hongkong to dropoff back to hotel 8 hours later, it was a pleasant trip everyone enjoyed.

Don’t just visit Hong Kong. Live like a local for a day, or two, with Jacky and Liz from This Is Asia Tours!
Don’t just visit Hong Kong. Live like a local for a day, or two! So lucky that we booked private tours with This is Asia Tours for two amazing days in Hong Kong and Lantau Island. Our first tour was going so well that we booked a second one for two days later midway through our first day. Guided by Jacky and Liz, our group really experienced the best the city had to offer alongside a local guide. So much fun “Hong Kong hopping” as we explored so many different neighborhoods, markets, historic sites and local hangouts. Loved seeing the real Hong Kong off the typical tourist path. Definitely two of the best tours that we have ever booked. After being picked up at the cruise terminal, our history and culture lesson started as we headed up to Victoria Peak. Along the way we learned about how and why the British came in 1842 and started to understand the complexities of the housing issues in Hong Kong. Visited St. John's Cathedral which is the only freehold land in Hong Kong and the oldest Anglican Church in the Far East. Then it was off to the bank. The story of HSBC really explains the story of Hong Kong. From simple beginnings to World Wars through turmoil and progress, it was so interesting to see and hear the history that Jacky shared. Really fascinating. Man Mo Temple. Nan Lian Garden. Chi Lin Nunnery. So many beautiful temples and gardens in Hong Kong. How do you choose? Loved being able to really enjoy the peace and tranquility of these sacred spaces against the frenetic hustle and bustle of the city. The gardens were so perfectly manicured. The temple and nunnery fed your soul. So many markets. Sneaker Street. Ladies Street. Goldfish. Bird. Flower. Wan Chai. Temple Street. Aberdeen fishing village. Each so different and unique. Fresh fish at the Wan Chai wet market. Loved the hawker stalls and fresh fruits along Fa Yuen Street. So many orchids and bonsai at the Flower Market. The puppies, bunnies and colorful fish were so cute at the Goldfish Market. Hungry? Loved the introduction to Hong Kong bakeries, steamed buns, roasted goose and dumplings by Jacky from This Is Asia tours. We had the most delicious treats (including Michelin) along the way. Loved trying mochi, vegetarian dumplings, banana cake, pineapple buns with and without cold butter, hot and cold Hong Kong Milk tea, French toast filled with peanut butter, egg tarts, turtle bread, rice and chicken, chicken tarts and much more in Kowloon and the Wan Chai District. Pineapple Buns. Egg Tarts. Cocktail Buns. Pineapple buns have no pineapple. Instead, these pillowy soft buns are topped with a beautifully cracked crust that resembles a pineapple. Eat them on their own or stuffed with a slab of cold butter. In the late 1940s, Hong Kong-style cafés called cha chaan tengs were both popular and competitive for customers. A baker was inspired to turn a savory dough into a sweet treat. He mixed flour, sugar, and ammonia to form a dough and baked it on top of bread. The resulting product, the pineapple bun, was born. This fragrant, crunchy and sweet treat is a Hong Kong staple to this day. The Cantonese cousin of English custard tarts, egg tarts come in many delicious variations. These yellow gems originated in Guangzhou in the early 20th century, when Chinese interaction with Britain grew. Egg tarts are a combination of steamed egg pudding and puff pastry. They graced Hong Kong in the 1940s, but initially were only served at high-end restaurants. Their popularity spread and egg tarts are now part of Hong Kong's intangible cultural heritage. Love the Hong Kong cocktail buns. These soft, buttery brioches are stuffed with a sweet coconut filling and sprinkled with sesame seeds. It's suggested that the sweet filling was inspired by leftovers. In the 1950s, a cha chaan teng owner didn't want to waste food so he crushed up some leftover bread together with sugar to make a filling. Since the mixture consisted of many different types of bread, it reminded people of a "cocktail." Today, the filling includes shredded coconut and butter, definitely a Hong Kong favorite. So delicious. Try them all. A sweet taste of Hong Kong's history. On the way to the airport two days later, our group met Liz for a tour of Lantua Island. What a treasure! Loved exploring the Tai O Fishing Village. Stilt houses. Bridges. Kwan Tai Temple. Snow White and the seven dwarfs. Pomelos for a Happy New Year. A boat ride to see the pink dolphins unique to Hong Kong. Liz said that we were so lucky to see so many on our boat tour. Since This Is Asia Tours have permits to drive on Lantau Island, we saved so much time. Nice to be able to drive directly to the gates leading to the Big Buddha and the Po Lin Monastery. Climbed up and down 280 steps to get to the Buddha. So beautiful and the views are stunning. Took the Ngong Ping 360 Crystal Cable Car back down the mountain and then had a 15-minute drive to the airport. Two amazing five-star days with Jacky and Liz. Don't think. Just book a tour for the best day, or two, in Hong Kong!!

Overpriced and unfriendly driver. Use Uber Black or XL instead.
The driver was rude and very unfriendly. We clearly booked 6 passengers and 6 luggages but when we were greeted at the airport, he wasn’t happy and told us that it was too many people. We managed to get everyone and all the luggages on the mini bus but wasn’t happy with the driver altitudes. The return trip we booked Uber XL for 1/2 of the prices and a lot friendlier driver.
