Possible to sleep on the Great Wall in a tent!
We hadn’t realized that sleeping on the Great Wall in a tent is possible before we found this agency. We started in early afternoon and it just took us around 1 hour and a half to get to the foot of the Great Wall. The Great Wall itself looks amazing, with one part streching into the water!!! Just seeing the great wall gives you a profound sense of its history and how the past is still standing to experience today! My friend and I carried the bags by ourselves and hiked for about 1 hour before we got to the camping place (we’re both are very energetic). We stopped several times on half way as the sun was very scorching in the afternoon. You should carry your own camping equipment for sure. The camping place is a big flat ground (should be the top of one tower) and you could see everything around! We didn’t see any other traveler or tourist at all. Our guide Zach was a very interesting man, with a lot of knowledge about China’s culture and history. We really talked a lot about almost everything in the evening! And Zach spoke perfect English! I really want to come back and do this tour again next time! It’s really worth your effort and money!

A wonderful and incredible night on the Great Wall!
It was a surreal experience camping on the Great Wall! Three of us camped there for one night and it was wonderful! I thought the stairs were just of tiny ones, but they’re not. I thought it could be cold at night but it was not! (the temperature was just fine.) It cost some efforts to hike to the camping place with all the equipment on your back in the beginning. But it’s really worth it. There was ABSOLUTELY no other tourist on the Great Wall!!! I saw many photos on the internet about horrible crowds on the Great Wal of China!. But this place was quite the contrary. Up there you will witness the mountain ranges which surrounds the Great Wall without seeing any other people!!! So incredible! Our guide Jacky was very professional and athletic! Jacky helped up a lot with carrying the bags even he looks quite thin. The night was very quiet and you can hear the sound of many wild insects. We got up quite early in the morning for the sunrise and the Great Wall was as quiet as deep in slumber. We didn’t even want to leave!!! It was an incredible experience!

Highly recommend Hello Great Wall travel agency
I booked this tour at the last minute and this agency is very efficient. The guide Zach was amiable and knowledgeable, and driver Jackie driving saftely and also helpful with the equipment and bags. They show us to a part of the Great Wall that was amazingly beautiful and absolutely untouched. We did not see any other tourist after we got to our camping place. Zach and Jackie were very prepared and we had almost everything for the camping. The morning was a little chilly, but ok. We watched the sunset at the top of that section and it was gorgeous. Really unforgettable experience.

        Amazing “Great Wall “ Experience
Unforgettable memories are made here. Seeing the wall without the crowds and in its wild state was absolutely incredible, although the initial hike to the campsite was a little challenging, it was most definitely worth it. Getting to see the sunset from the peak was stunning and awe inspiring, we woke for sunrise but the clouds had other plans. Our guide, Jerry, was awesome. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and speaks great English. He even made us sandwiches for lunch when we were picked up and they were delicious!

        Fantastic trip with Jackie
This two day hike on the Great Wall the highlight of our trip to China. Jackie, our incredible guide, made the two days magical. He packed in extra hiking components for my high energy nephew while being patient with me, the slower member of the hike! All the photos and videos that he took and gave to us were better than professional shots! He really captured our journey together. The overnight in the farmer's guesthouse was also very pleasant with delicious food, comfortable room, and generous hospitality. I highly recommend (Hello Great Wall) and Jackie in particular for those looking for a great adventure of your lifetime.

        Guide Jane Kang A+++
Jane Kang was our guide for 4 days while we were in Beijing. From the moment she picked us up from the airport to the time we left, we always felt safe and taken care of. Jane was knowledgeable in all the places we visited and she is so friendly and welcoming. We left the country with a new friend. The sites we visited included the Mutianyu Great Wall site, Jinshanling Great Wall site, Tianmen Square, Forbidden City, summer Palace, Wangfujing, pearl City Markets with a few other stops along the way. We highly recommend Jane and our driver Mr. Tang. They certainly made our stay in China memorable and a place where we would love to return to with these guys as our guides again!

        Impressive hutong bike tour!
I had a good weather and my guide Susan was very conscientious. She made a lot of special things for me because I was the only guest in the group the other day. We left from Hello Great Wall agency at 09:00 a.m. and passed through many maze-like alleys, some of which were very dirty and stinky, but they showed the true life of the people. Those Hutongs were not touristic and popular at all because I didn’t see any tourist in them. We were supposed to go to Jingshan park but my guide changed the plan when she knew that I had already been there. Finally he led me to the Prince Kung’s mansion instead. I had a big lunch at a dumpling restaurant and the dumplings were very tasty!!! It was a cute restaurant but I forgot the name! I will definitely recommend this company to my friends! SOFIANE.N.S

        Fantastic Tour
It was our first day in China and our super guide Susan made us comfortable and was great fun. She has excellent English and really pays attention to your needs on tour. She answered my million questions had great stories and led the way down the bobsled! On the wall she knows just where to stand for the best photos and is happy to snap or be in the shot. After the wall, she hosted a great lunch ordering to our tastes and came up with a great plan to visit a Buddhist temple on the way home. If you are booking this trip, take the time to request her.

        Outstanding Great Wall tour
I don't usually post about events like this, but the Great Wall tour I recently took from Downtown Beijing Backpackers was outstanding. My tour guide Jackie did a phenomenal job. I did the 10k version of the hike that started on the "unrestored" part of the wall and ended at the rebuilt portion. The tour guide picked my up at my Beijing hotel, and dropped me off at the end of the tour. They also picked up lunch. The great wall tour was the highlight of my trip.

        great wall tour
Made a Fun Great Wall tour and it has been great. On time departure, all well organized and very comfortable mini bus. The guide was prepared and willing to help , likewise the mini bus driver. Also we avoided the local tourist traps and constant disturbances. If I go back to Beijing I will surely take this operator again and do the long hike on the wall next time! thank you for this great day !

Great 2 day with Jane Kang in Beijing and the Great Wall!
This review is as much about Jane Kang as about the overall experience across 2 days of tours first time in a Beijing. Trying not to repeat the very comprehensive review by roger_northeast (I guess he is from Boston or around, where I spent 10 most fun years of my life, between doing a PhD in Sloan, MIT, and teaching MBAs with the rivals upriver), which is not easy. First, Jane was our savior as the original arrangements made by our guide Clair in Shanghai fell through upon arrival by the G4 bullet-train a day earlier. Kudos to Clair and to Jane for making arrangements at about 8:30PM on Dec 20, so that we could hit the road on Dec 21 in the direction of the Forbidden City, Tian’namen Square and the Temple of Heaven. All went as smooth as can be, pick-up and going through the sites and sounds with minimal interruptions for unavoidable shopping; she was very low key about the latter, even though such diversions are by now an integral part of any organized tour. Actually, the two shops on the 2nd day (Dec 22) were almost museums - the one at Badaling Hotel at the Great Wall, and at the lunch site at a jade factory. The latter contained amazing sculpture to view and many items to buy. Jane is a sincere, thoughtful and very knowledgeable guide. She is also kind and funny, and very responsive to our tastes and whims. Her memory of history, old and recent, is amazing, with little stories and anecdotes, fables, jokes, and commentaries. All 3 of us, wife, 11-Year old daughter and I, a retired academic, living in Thailand, felt totally taken care of by her. This means trust! The Badaling site is amazing, and in spite of the cold, probably in single digits under zero in Centigrade, and windy, we enjoyed the views and the limited climbs (not me, unfortunately, as I was limping) were great, and at the right level of duress. The hot chocolate at the Badaling Hotel was so well timed! The second half of the day changed to satisfy my wife’s and daughter’s desire to taste a real winters experience - snow! As Beijing and its surroundings are notably dry, machine-made snow had to do. This was immortalized in a couple of photos, without me, as I hate the white stuff since my 14 years of driving in New England and around Ottawa and Montreal. All in all - an example of flexibility and responsiveness by Jane. We second roger_northeast observations, including language and expressions. She also travelled widely and to my surprise knew about Boston and MIT. We were also surprised to learn that she is married and mother to a 3-year old girl, as she was so young in spirit and behavior. We are very grateful to Jane and all the arrangements she made, and the drivers were excellent throughout, as our package included our drop off to the flight to Bangkok on Dec 23. We recommend Jane and them without any reservations!

We (my boyfriend and I) were at the Great Wall for about 3 hours, more than enough time to enjoy the historic majesty of this worldwide wonder, especially during sunset time. We hiked from east to west, around 6 or 7km, going after the sun. The sunset was beautiful and the mountain magnificent! We took a lot of good pictures!
It is a rather strenuous climb, and a must for good comfortable walking shoes. The section where we hiked (Jinshanling) is a challenge because the steps are of various heights and I found that climbing higher didn't enhance the expeirience.
Our tour guide Zac was the best tour guide I ever met in China. He is very patient, knowledgeable, amiable, and also very sensitive to our feelings and request. We learned a lot of history and traditions about China from him. We felt so thankful and lucky to have him as our guide.
Overall, this tour is the best choice I made in my China trip. I’ll definitely recommend Hello Great Wall travel agency and tour guide Zac to my friends.

My family and I had a wonderful experience with Hello Great Wall for a Private Tour of Jinshanling Great Wall. Our guide Zach and driver Jackie were outstanding all through the trip! Zach was prompt, courteous, informative, accommodating and bilingual (in Chinese and English). Jackie was professional and we felt safe the entire way.

For the first part of the tour, we hiked a little bit and had plenty of time to explore and walk around. It was really quiet on the Great Wall at that time. We didn’t see any other tourists. The Great Wall looked gorgeous in twilight! Subsequently, we had a sumptuous dinner in a local farmer’s restaurant. Everything was timed perfectly and went smoothly. We never felt rushed during our tour.

It was really a five star experience with Zac and our driver Jackie. I will recommend Hello Great Wall tours to my friends for sure. We were picked up right after lunch time and it was really fast to get to Jinshanling Great Wall. It should be around 140km, but it took only 1 hour and a half. Thanks to Jackie, we had more time on the Great Wall. Zac was very patient and knowledgeable. We learned a lot of things about China’s hitory and culture from him. The sunset was amazing and there were only a few other guests on the Great Wall. We chose the right tour, and went to the right place, and had the right guide and driver! Highly recommend!
