Beautiful Section of the Great Wall with No Yellow Flower
This section of the Great Wall is probably the EASIEST I have been so far. I did Mutianyu just last October, ie about 8 months ago. There were lots of towers to climb. Here, I met only 1 and reached the top of the Great Wall for this section. But this is beautiful as it has the lake with it. You don't need any tour guide for this. The tour guides can't help you scale the Great Wall.

Picturesque and uncrowded - picture perfect
Uncrowded late March (tail end of the low season)we saw no more than 40 people enroute. It was impressive though restored. The dam was still iced over adding to the picturesque charm. Apparently the wild sections are no longer accessible due to the death of an American diplomat and his family 3 years ago (this is what local told us).

          Great Wall Light
I’ve been to the other parts of the Great Wall; they have many more tourists and seem much more touristy than this section. This almost feels like Great Wall Light. It took 1.5 hours by private car to arrive at this section from downtown BJ, (7:30am – 9:05am on a Sunday) we spent about 1.5-2 hours exploring and walking the wall, taking photo’s and then headed back to the car through the little village. Bought drinks, fruit and some local snacks and headed back into the city. There were water activities and other things happening, but my friends just wanted to experience seeing the wall and walking on it. It was perfect. I preferred this section of the wall to the others I’ve been too.

Nope , you'll be tired at some point , if you'll. never stop along some rest spots , I'll tell you it's quite hard to climb this wall that was so long stretched

best part of the great wall!
It was beautiful and even though we haven't been on another part of the wall, I can definitely say this is the most stunning part of the wall. The lake view is priceless and there are a lot of faculties around the wall at this place. Unfortunately the amusement park was closed due to winter and most part of the wall was also closed but at the summer time I am pretty sure it's the best. Especially for people with kids. You can also float on the lake in a boat.

All by myself for 4 hours
Huanghuacheng Great wall is a wild section which is located near a lake and a reservoir, this part of the Wall is called Yellow Flower Fortress and is a good place for hiking.Huanghuacheng Section of the Great Wall is a resort with mountains, lakes and theancient Great Wall. There are very few people to be found here and I was able to spend 4 hours and not see another person on the wall. There is a lake and a crescent shaped reservoir nearby. And the lake breaks this sectionof the Great Wall into three segments naturally. Part of the wall is under water and becomes submerged at high tide. So the Huanghuacheng Great Wall is nicknamed "Water Great Wall".The scenery here is unique and will surprise you.

          Incredible!!!
Highly recommend visiting the Great Wall. We did a tour that included a driver and tour guide transporting us to part of the Wall that’s easily accessible with a cable car. It had snowed the day before so we had a beautiful, clear sunny day but still very cold so luckily we dressed warm. The view was spectacular and the Wall history and construction unbelievable.

          Guide May
Enjoyed this trip thoroughly. Thanks to May for picking us up at our hotel early in the morning and dropping us off at the airport in time for the flight. In between she showed us the great wall. Very thoughtful of her to pick up some fruit and water prior to picking us up. She was knowledgeable and very friendly, spoke good English and was pleasant to deal with. For someone who does not speak Mandarin I would recommend taking a guided tour rather than doing a solo trip. Will help tremendously. Loved it. Thanks May.

          Great Hiking Experience
We had a fantastic time with our guide on The Great Wall. The weather was perfect and our guide was super knowledgeable about all facts and history of The Great Wall. His passion for The Great Wall was very clearly evident and made the excursion that much better. We threw tons of questions at him and he answered every one of them. He chose a very fun restaurant and tasty dishes for us to eat. The car was very clean and they provided water and bananas for us. He was very personable and we would highly recommend this tour.

          The Great Wall
Walking up the steps is pretty tricky because they were designed to slow down any invaders. The steps are intentionally set at different heights so you have to look down instead of upward. But once you get to the top the view will amaze you!!!

          Excellent Experience!
I can highly recommend Wild Great Wall for just about anything you want to book in Beijing. I did a couple of different solo bookings- one to Huanghuacheng where I hiked all morning, and one to a coupe of different sites in Beijing city. Both drivers, Sun and Cui, were absolutely wonderful. If/when back in China, I would not hesitate to book with them again because everything went very smoothly. One thing worth mentioning, my hotel was changed at the last minute the night before my first tour, and I emailed immediately, hoping that someone would see it even at night, to change my pickup point. Ricky responded quickly, as always, and changed it easily. You will have both very good communication upon making your reservations and can only imagine that your drivers wil be equally as wonderful. 5 stars.

          Great Wall Tour - Exceptional
We (party of 6 from the U.S. ranging in age from 27 to 66) would highly recommend May and the driver. Both were extremely friendly. May was informative and eager to please; her English was good. The driver consistently offered us assistance in exiting the van. The lunch was delicious and we had more than enough to eat. Thanks for an awesome experience and making our trip to Beijing so very memorable! (Some did feel rushed during our visit to the Summer Palace which was after we left the Great Wall.)

          Mutianyu Great Wall experiences
Mutianyu Great Wall Great service, I rent a private car 9 hours from downtown Beijing to Mutianyu. I booked 1 month before with Rick and it was great service from him. The driver also great, his name is Zhang Zhifei, he was on time picked me up from my hotel exactly on 6.30AM, he took me for breakfast on the way to Mutianyu. So it was a great experience for me with them. Thank you for the hospitality and definitely will coming again with my family. Regards Angga

Our visit to the Great Wall of Huanghuacheng in China was truly a bucket-list experience that exceeded all expectations. We booked a private van and were met by an English-speaking guide at the train station upon our early morning arrival from Shanghai. The drive to the location was delightful, offering scenic views that set the stage for an incredible day.

This section of the Great Wall is particularly special for several reasons. It is well-preserved and located near a charming farming village, allowing us to interact with the local people. We had the chance to purchase fresh produce, including berries, eggs, and vegetables, and taste local foods.

The Wall is situated along a water dam, providing breathtaking views of the wall against the backdrop of lush green mountains and serene water. We enjoyed various water activities, including paddling boats and canoeing. A highlight was taking a speed boat across the dam to reach a chestnut forest, where we relaxed in a Resthouse and savored grilled chestnuts.

Our guide then took us to a nearby restaurant in the woods, where we picked fresh fish from the ponds and had them grilled on-site. The meal was absolutely delicious and perfectly complemented the day’s adventures.

This visit to the Great Wall of Huanghuacheng was an unforgettable experience, combining stunning scenery, cultural encounters, and delicious food. It was an adventure of a lifetime that I’ll cherish forever.

We did a full day excursion with tour guide David and our entire experience was amazing! From the planning process with Ricky, the driver pick up at the hotel, to the delicious local lunch, the entire hike, and David’s photography skills, the day couldn’t have been better! Ricky and David both are so accommodating and made this easily the best day of our entire trip. We really couldn’t recommend them more! A must do If you’re coming to Beijing!

My 2 young elementary children, my sister and my senior mother that uses an electric scooter took a private day tour with Wild Great Wall while we were in Beijing on a 22 hr layover. May who was our guide met us at our Hotel along with the driver in a van and drove us to the Great Wall early in the morning. We then went to a fabulous local Chinese restaurant where we enjoyed a delicious lunch. After lunch we headed to see the Chinese Panda’s. We also wanted to do a food tour which they accommodate before heading to the airport. May our guide was knowledgeable about Chinese history and spoke very well English. The driver also helped loading and unloading my mother’s electric scooters. My family and I truly enjoyed taking a tour with this company and we would do it again and highly recommend it.

Breathtaking! I had a driver who got me to this part of the wall, it’s slightly on the outskirts of Beijing, about 2 hours from the CBD. It didn’t look like there were many public transportations around the area. I entered through a random entrance that had a little store right in-front of it, I paid 10yuan to enter (it wasn’t much but I’ve heard you don’t have to pay for some entrances). This part of the wall isn’t too commercialized yet as compared to Badaling and MuTianYu. As you climb further up the wall it becomes less restored! For someone like me who isn’t exceptionally fit, I managed the hike well. Just be sure to wear shoes with a good grip and/or have a walking stick! Also some snacks and a bottle of water will help, you can take a break and enjoy the views whilst you’re there.

I definitely suggest coming to this part of the wall!

This was the highlight of my China tour. I am glad I chose this location because it is near the lake and is very beautiful. I visited in early June and the temperature here was cooler than Badaling and Mutianyu Great Wall. There were some Yellow flowers in bloom along the hillside, they made for scenic photos. The submerged wall is also a quite a unique feature for the wall.
In addition, my tour guide Jerry was great company throughout the day. He has a nice sense of humor, so the 2.5 hour drive were not boring. He patiently answered all my, rather random, queries on Chinese history and traditions. At the wall, he was accommodating of time and customised our trek as per my requests.
Further, at the end of the hot day we stopped by for a delicious meal at a roadside restuarant. All-in-all it was a day well spent. I came back with a lifetime of precious memories of the Great Wall.

DO THIS TOUR. This was an excellent and rare opportunity to see the beauty of the wall in isolation. I cannot emphasize this enough. We spent two days hiking on the wall and there was almost no one around. The only time we ran into other tourists was near the end of our hike on the first day when we got close to the section where we hike down. It was beautiful and we got to enjoy it without the stress of trying to walk around other people. This was such an epic experience.

Our guide was Rocky and our driver was Wu. Both were fantastic! We had such a good time with both of them and they were so helpful to us throughout the experience and with other tips around Beijing. I highly recommend them both as guides.

You stay overnight in a local, authentic guest house. This was such an interesting experience and you got to eat all local foods as well as part of the tour.

You will not regret it! Thanks Rocky, Wu and Ricky for the experience!

It rained the day before so it was quite foggy, but it lends a different atmosphere to the wall. Made it a little more slippery and challenging.
