My uncle and I loved this experience with the master Richard! Richard was an amazing teacher and person. We enjoyed his passion and his knowledge in this area. I´m not tourist and have lived in Beijing for many years but this was my first experience with this Chinese artist. I would definitely recommend this class. Muy interesante tanto la parte práctica como la teórica del aprendizaje de la caligrafía china. Su lema también es muy profundo: One Heart One World. Y recomiendo también sus indicaciones sobre el contacto con el pincel: "Let the brush flow like water"

My friends and I loved every minute of this experience with Richard! Richard was an amazing teacher. His patience and passion made the whole morning such a wonderful and relaxing experience. We were shocked to look at our phones and realize that 1.5 hours had passed in what felt like a blink. We are not tourists and have lived in Beijing for many years but this was our first experience with this Chinese art form. I would definitely recommend this class for tourists OR expats/locals. You definitely won't be disappointed!

He is a very kind teacher and it was such a peaceful experience drinking tea and painting, I loved every minute of it, if I was staying longer I would love to do it again. What a meaningful way to spend my time in Beijing. By far THE BEST part of my trip!! In just an hour I felt more at peace with myself and learned the foundations of calligraphy. This class was perfect for beginners like myself. The instructor, Richard, was such a harmonious and kind being. He was very knowledgeable and just spending the time with him alone was well worth the class. The class was set in a very safe, quiet and clean environment. Its location was central to many other cultural sites and activities. NOT AN EXPERIENCE TO MISS :) A MUST FOR YOUR NEXT VISIT TO BEIJING.

老师 was very patient and encouraging with my young daughter - thank you for your gifts and reminder that each of us is unique, and the importance of humility and kindness in all that we do! We enjoyed ourselves in our calligraphy class, and regret that we didn’t have time for the painting class. It’ll have to be next time! Do note that the class was not in a hutong, but in a calm and peaceful bookstore.

Richard was amazing! We had a very enlightening conversation about buddhism at first, and then a 1.5 hr class with just us two. We were late (our fault) and he just adjusted our start time, super flexible. Richard is such a natural teacher, it was a very peaceful experience. I would definitely do it again.
