Great way to spend a layover in Beijing. We had no issues doing the 144 hour visa-free transit as Americans (other than the airport check-in at home taking a few minutes longer than usual). There was a counter right after getting off the plane to show your onward ticket before going through customs. You need to be coming from an approved country and going to a different country. The tickets don't have to be from the same airline.
Everything was already paid for in advance and someone picked us up at our hotel at 7 am before driving to Tienanmen square which took about an hour during rush hour. We walked along Tienanmen square and through part of the Forbidden City with our tour guide, Lisa, before being picked up at the other end and driving to the Great Wall. We stayed there for a couple hours before doing the toboggan down (unfortunately stuck behind someone doing about 1 km/h) and driving back to the airport hotel.
Overall, Lisa is an excellent and knowledgeable tour guide and I don't see how you could pack much more in to a one day layover. If you have the choice, I'd do it in the winter over the summer. Everything seemed much less busy and the dryness made it feel actually not that cold.

Thank you to our tour guide Jerry and our driver Mr. Xie for showing us such a wonderful time during our short layover in Beijing! They were all one could hope for: prompt, considerate, and kind. Jerry was very informative and gave us a solid background and history on all the sights we saw. He was patient with our questions and also made us laugh! We appreciate how accommodating he and Xie were with the schedule and our needs. We have already recommended them to our some of our friends. Thank you again Jerry and Xie. We hope to be back in Beijing again sometime.

I had such a great time ! I had a 13h stop in Pekin so I wanted to see the most famous monuments of the city and I choose this tour. I do not regret it ! My driver was on time to pick me up at the airport and bring me to my guide Maggie. She was such a wonderful guide and I learnt many things. Also it was snowing all day so we were almost alone on the great wall, so special! I highly recommend this tour and Maggie as a guide.

I tagged on a couple of days to a business trip and flew over to Beijing from Hong Kong. I booked this trip for the Sunday, as I had the whole day free. The main attraction I wanted to visit was the Great Wall, so this trip ticked all the boxes. I had Jeffery as my tour guide and he was great. I was picked up from my hotel, and didn’t have the worry of language/ trying to find transport or not knowing where to go. We went to the square first and then the forbidden city which was great. Afterwards we stopped off for lunch- and ate traditional Chinese food and tea. We then made our way to the Great Wall. It was great to have the time to look around, get lots of photos and soak up the atmosphere. I would definitely recommend - easy to get from place to place, Jeffery had great knowledge on the places and was really friendly. An all round great day. Thanks :)

We arrived in Bejing airport and we had a long transit waiting for our flight. So we decided to move on and realized an experience outside.
I looked for some different offers but I prefered this, the one with private Layover for a tour Of: Mutianyu Great Wall- Tiananmen Square- Forbidden CIty.
Our car brought us from the arrivals in the airport and than we visited the sites. We also included a tipical Chinese lunch, that was delicious and based on vegetables, chicken and traditional souces.
Jeffery, and also the driver, were perfect guides for us.
Jeffery told us the history about the square, the royal palace anche we also spoke about the China nowdays. He was so cute and kindless. The Great Wall was something extraordinary!

We had a one-day stopover in Beijing. We took the opportunity to go on a tour with Lily's Beijing Tour . We visited Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Great Wall. It was a great day with our guide Jeffrey, who gave us lots of information. We also had the opportunity to eat typical Chinese food and have a tea tasting.
We'd recommend it 100%.

We are a young couple who have been to lots of different countries and attractions. We always do them on our own and work our way around the public transport system. But we decided to go for a private tour on this occasion, and I’m so glad we did. Although it would have been extremely cheaper to do it on our own, we would not have had the same experience and detailed knowledge. Sally was amazing and is such a happy tour guide. Her knowledge was brilliant and English was good, naturally with a slight language barrier, so we still had to concentrate a lot on what was being said.
Sally was on time for picking us up and explained every bit of the tour as we went. We were well looked after, car waiting to collect us straight after seeing an attraction, chilled water by the back seats.
Toboggan ride back down from the Great Wall was an absolute highlight! Lunch at the local restaurant was very tasty and good learning experience.

We had a VERY short period of time for our tour and the tour guide Lisa told us that it was going to be a "Running tour"; she wasn't kidding. We hopped out of the car at Tiananmen Square and began running through the square, imperial city, and forbidden city, but Lisa made sure we didn't miss a thing! She also new all the great viewing and picture points to hit and even was able to convince other tourists to get out of our way. When we moved to the Great Wall it got even better! She convinced us to do the toboggan down the wall and it was AMAZING. But all of the pictures at the top of the Wall CAN'T BE BEAT. Best of all, Lisa made sure we got to the airport with plenty of time to spare (even with the limited amount of time we had). Would recommend this to any and all that have 8 hours or so on their layover. IT WAS AWESOME!!!!

The tour was amazing! Linda Su was so helpful and knowledgeable! From the time we were picked up until the end it was great! The driver Xie was also very nice and greeted us in the airport. We were surprised at how cold it was, however Linda Su provided us with jackets! Definitely would recommend taking a day trip with them:)
