- Jennifer_pz0 contributionsGreat full day tour in MombasaI recently came back from a wonderful trip to Kenya with a two day stopover in Mombasa, and I had a great tour with Humphrey. My family and I did a full day private tour and we truly enjoyed all the knowledge and information that we learned from Humphrey. He explained all the history andnquestions we had, and had many interesting facts that we enjoyed learning about. I most appreciated that Humphrey was very accommodating, as was the driver, and the car was comfortable. Humphrey was a good communicator and I liked that he used WhatsApp so that we could also communicate before our tour. I highly recommend this tour company and Humphrey for anyone looking to maximize their time in Mombasa. Thanks for a memorable time!!Written December 2, 2023
- mariapaola d0 contributionsDon't lose this chance!!.Humphrey is an amazing guide in Mombasa. He explains to us about history, culture and society of the city. Many tips about the development of life in Mombasa and how it has changed during the time. He can show the food market with the opportunity to try many fruits and spices. I suggest for anyone that will pass in the city to book and enjoy the tour with Humphrey. You will not regret it.Written August 19, 2023
- attiyahirji0 contributionsRepeat tour takersThis is the third tour of Mombasa we've taken with Humphrey - this time we brought our family from Canada. As always, Humphrey is communicative, prompt to arrive well in advance and welcomes you upon arrival, and he tailors the tour to your needs and desires. We had limited time, yet Humphrey was able to accommodate and show us everything Mombasa has to offer. Will continue recommending his tours to others.Written August 14, 2023

- schnellke0 contributionsHumpfrey is THE BESTHumpfrey is THE BEST guide in Mombasa. He knows every nook & cranny. He knows great places to stay, the best places to eat, and best places to shop. Everyone in the tourism business in the are knows and respects him. He can arrange anything at just about anytime of the day or night, from dinner arrangements to scuba diving wrecks in the beautiful, warm Indian Ocean, to boat tours at Wasini where I’m sure he even arranged the plethora dolphins to swim up to the boat. He knows all the history in the area, both good and bad, and is willing to engage in conversation about its pros & cons. The only not good thing was the Azul Margarita hotel. Do not stay there. I will definitely contact Humpfrey before my next trip and recommend him to anyone I know going to Kenya.Written January 26, 2023
- paolocJ7663KK0 contributionsMombasa tour in a safe and friendly wayIt was a short but intensive experience and the deserves goes to Humphrey, our guide that allow us to visit the main attractions of Mombasa in a safe way. The most beautiful thing was the visit to Fort Jesus where Humphrey told us its history and the slave trade with a lot of sentiment And emphasis. All the money I sent for this short journey is deserved. I suggest this tour for all people that wants to know more about Mombasa in a safe and friendly way.Written January 8, 2023
- Simisola S0 contributionsFantasticHumphrey was a terrific tour guide. He is extremely passionate about his job and the history of various parts of Mombasa. He also took very beautiful pictures of us. Worth every penny and I highly recommend for anyone visiting MombasaWritten January 3, 2023
- Thatomiloane0 contributionsWorth every cent of his feeI appreciate the insight that he provided us with, and the genuine love that he has for his profession, it is highly evident on his face when he explain the history of the place. He then took us into old town Mombasa and the best thing is that he negotiated prices down on the items we wanted in the market even the tok toks. We had a bit of doubt when he approached us for a tour, but I am definitely happy that he did.Written December 30, 2022

Great tour of Fort Jesus and the old town with comments, dates, historical facts without it bothering, and at the same time the guide will answer your more in-depth questions about history or the city.
Discover the places not to be missed in the city. Humphrey's advice. Feeling safe with him.
Passing through a top shop where prices are displayed and you feel like you are paying the price just without having to negotiate.
Patient guide, kind, helpful and ready to make you have a great time. I absolutely recommend. Thank you very much Humphrey!

Great tour with a professional , informative and friendly guide. Met Humphrey at the gates of Fort Jesus. He looked after us all the way and ensured we could stay in the shade as much as possible while telling us about the history of the fort. The walk through the old town was done at a leisurely pace, having told Humphrey in advance that my mobility was not so good. This was followed by a trip to the tusks, where he was more than happy to take photographs, and finally a tour of the colourful spice market. We felt totally comfortable with Humphrey who was most engaging and for whom nothing was too much trouble. All in all a great tour with a fantastic guide. Thank you Humphrey.

During our very recent vacation to the Kenyan coast, we stayed in Diani beach and really wanted to take Humphrey's walking tour of Fort Jesus and Mombasa old town but were worried that we might not be able to start our tour at 9 o'clock given the long drive from Diani beach to the old town of Mombasa. Humphrey was very understanding and flexible, he suggested we could start the tour whenever it suited us best. Fortunately, on the tour day our drive from Diani beach to Mombasa was timely. We then called him to inform him that we were already in the old town having breakfast at the restaurant next to Fort Jesus and he arrived there promptly.
Having grown up in Kenya, I have visited the Fort Jesus before but only had a sketchy memory and not much information about Fort Jesus or the old town. This time around, our guide Humphrey closed that knowledge gap as he imparted so much information about the history and culture of the Fort Jesus and the old town of Mombasa and answered all our questions concerning the portuguese, oman and the british occupation of the Fort and their influence on and interaction with the local cultures. The Fort Jesus and the old town of Mombasa are very rich in history and you must make sure you put it on your itinerary when you travel to the Kenyan coast.
Humphrey also took us to the old town of Mombasa, we walked along narrow alleys, saw buildings with different architectural styles of the different occupants of times past. Portuguese, arab, indian, and british. We had also had the pleasure of buying local spices at the famous MacKinnon Market and bore witness to Mombasa as a melting pot of cultures.
All that while, Humphrey guided us and recommended the best locations to stop and take photos. Humphrey who is also a very good photographer, took a lot of beautiful photos of us during the tour. I believe that if we were there on our own, we would have been be afraid of people's reaction to us taking photos and in addition to that, we would have very quickly gotten lost in the maze of the narrow alleyways. Humphrey also knows the best local places to stop for souvenirs, a drink, or a quick bite. I recommend the refreshing Tamarind juice at Forodhani restaurant!
Although the Tusks were not officially part of our walking tour, Humphrey suggested that a tour of the old town of Mombasa would not be complete without the photos of the tusks as this is "traditionally" the symbol of Mombasa and led us there in a tuk-tuk.
I completely recommend visiting Fort Jesus and Mombasa old town and booking Humphrey Ndungu's walking tour for the best value. Humphrey is flexible, very friendly, organized, speaks very good english and a very knowledgeable guide. What more can you ask for?

What a great tour! Thank you Humphrey for the lovely morning in Mombasa. I warmly recommend this trip. Humphrey is very interested in the history of the Fort/Old part of town/Mombasa and Kenya in general and therefore the tour was very informative and interesting. Really good storytelling, we learned a lot. We also visited the tusks and a spice market. Humphrey's number one priority is safety so even in the busy streets of Mombasa with lots of hectic traffic we never felt unsafe. At the end he recommended a good restaurant were we went eating and he even took the time to show us two nice souvenir/gift shops when we came back after lunch. Thanks Humphrey! Greetings from Switzerland :)

Humphrey was a perfect guide and very noticeable. All around Friendly and nice. Speaks good and understandable English. He was not in a rush and let us take our time in the shops and landmarks we visited. We felt very safe and in good hands with him. We saw everything we wanted and even more.. it was a bit pricey but definitely worth the extra money - highly recommend this trip and guide ! Thanks Hump 🤘🏻

We bumped into Humphrey outside the fort and he helped us through the somewhat convoluted payment process (ecitizen or M-Pesa, neither of which we had). He then offered to guide the two of us, saying to pay us what we thought was reasonable at the end. No pressure or insistence. He then gave us a really fun & interesting tour of the fort and the old town and even got us into a tuk-tuk & negotiated a good rate for our trip to the restaurant.

This tour was so enjoyable and exceeded my expectations. Humphrey was so knowledgeable and passionate in his storytelling, I was captivated the whole time. I ended up being the only one on the tour and got so much value out of it. He customised the tour according to my needs and allowed us to go at my pace. I never felt rushed or slowed down. I would really recommend this tour to anyone. Humphrey knows his stuff and is excellent at what he does!

The Old Town, a blend of many cultures and eras, is an inspiring visit to understand modern Mombasa, now a sprawling port city. Humphrey is the ideal person to guide you through the lively streets, markets and historical buildings of the Old Town. His gentleness and knowledge made for an enjoyable tour. I believe the visit is better enjoyed in smaller groups that maximize the opportunities for exchange with the guide.
