          Good trip but....
Overall good trip but not pleased with exotica. Three days in Masa Mara but rest of time is free time where you are forced to pay for additional excursions. Exotica did a terrible time with itenerary. Have to check out of hotel by 10am and flight leaves at 11pm. Forced to pay for an additional day or do excursion we weren't interested and customer service downright hostile about it. Check out different tour companies

          Best Tour Ever
Our guide, George, was spectacular. George made every aspect of this trip exciting, comfortable and educational. The game drives were filled with new animals every day, photo opportunities were encouraged and provided, the lodges could not have been better, and the food was nutritional and delicious. I will spread the word about Pongezi African Safaris to everyone I know. I can’t imagine having those five days without George. I so appreciate him and this tour company.

          Magical!!!
This was the first part of our adventure with George and Pongezi. After these 4 nights at 2 lodges, we went on to The Maasai Mara which I reviewed already. This tour was amended from the printed version. We wanted to stay in different lodges than stated on the set tour, and it wasn't a problem to change those. We did have to pay a little for the upgrade but it was worth it. We also needed to be picked up in Nairobi, not Mombasa, and that was not an issue. So George picked us up at our Nairobi hotel and we drove to Taita Hills. It took 6 hours but the drive was pleasant seeing the towns and people along the way as well as the countryside. The Mombasa Hwy is a crazy place but George navigated it expertly. We picked The Saltlick Safari Lodge for our first 2 nights. This place is magical!! We were stunned by the beauty of the terrace view. Animals everywhere around the lodge. It was like being in a movie. Jurassic Park came to mind, with non- extinct animals. It was so fun! This place is so cool. The rooms were comfortable and the views from the rooms were great. We had waterhole views which were great but the other side rooms face the savannah and animals were always there also. In fact, 3 lions spent a day on a small hill right by the Lodge. We could see them from the walkways. With the zebras in a line all carefully watching them. All day! Being here was just magical. We loved it. Baboons were everywhere around the lodge. And very friendly. One guy( or girl) came up onto the lower terrace, walked around among us and then sat for photos. He was so cute! Our game drives were great. George is an expert. Like always he can see something in the grass, while driving, when all we see is grass. So good!! We saw many elephants, very close, zebra, buffalo, wart hogs, hyena, impala, water buck, huge ostrich, giraffe, lions. It was so great. Everyone at the lodge was so accommodating and friendly. We hated to leave the Saltlick. It is a wonderful place - magical - but we were excited to go to Amboseli Nat. Park next. George drove expertly through a rural area that was just a dirt road. Along the way we saw people, homes, their way of life. Despite the bumpy, it was a great time. All the children waved and shouted and jumped up and down as we passed. Sweet kids. In Amboseli Park we stayed at the Amboseli Serena Lodge inside the park. For 2 nights. From there it was easy to drive all over the park. The grounds were beautiful at this lodge. And the staff was great. The animals were a bit farther away here but could be seen with binoculars. Except for monkeys. They were on the grounds with young Maasai men working as "monkey hunters" to scare them away from the dining area. They were cute. Again, we were so lucky with our drives. On our first evening drive here, the clouds parted late in the evening, and we saw Mt Kilimanjaro. George said - anything can happen, have patience. We waited for the elephants, who come that way in the evening and waited for the clouds to part. And both did! What a beautiful site. So beautiful. Amboseli is unique because of the mountain. And so many elephants! And it was amazing. We were lucky the next morning also when the clouds parted, just for us. We saw tons of elephants, lions, zebra, wildebeest, hippo, giraffe, wart hogs, impala, gazelle, buffalo, baboons and flamingos who have recently started taking up residence in the waters of Amboseli. We learned so much from George. He has done this job for many years and taught us about the land, the people, the animals and about beautiful Kenya. It was really great to learn so much during our incredible experience and time with George. While in Amboseli we visited a Maasai village. Wow! A whole new world and way of living. What beautiful people. Singing, dancing, fire making, telling us about how they live. Cool and interesting. I loved learning about the Maasai. We take so much for granted in our indulgent lives. So much. From the grounds of this lodge we are unable to see the mountain. But it is close. Just out the front gate and driveway, and there is a safe, fenced path that people can walk around on, to the front of the lodge, to see the mountain. When the clouds are cooperating that is. We are so happy with the choices we made for this tour. We loved both lodges and the animals who cooperated fully. But really it was George and his expert, perfect eye site who found everybody for us. This experience was worth all the time and effort put into it, and worth every penny spent. I have dreamed of going to Kenya since I was a little girl. It was so worth the wait. Thank you Pongezi and George for helping me get there. It was an incredible adventure. I will never forget it.

          Worth Every Penny!!!
I will never forget this place nor our guide George Weru. We are so lucky to have chosen this tour and this Mara Lodge. We were picked up at our Nairobi hotel and then we drove about 6 hours to the Serena Lodge. We stayed there for 3 nights. This was a really cool and beautiful lodge. It was a long drive but seeing the countryside, little towns and villages and the people was so worth it. We got a good look at this part of Kenya. It was just my sister and I, so we had the whole safari vehicle to ourselves. I liked that it wasn't one of those brand new ones, that was perfect inside. It was well loved and we had lots of leg room for the seats behind the driver and cup holder spots and a cubby for binoculars, phone, glasses, etc. It was easy to move around and we were allowed to eat and drink in it as well as we could stand on the seats without our shoes on to get a better look at all the great things we saw. I loved that. We felt safe with George and his driving, even on the sometimes crazy highway. The Mara Serena is way inside the park and this was such an advantage. We were right in the middle of the action. The Lodge is spectacular! The views were endless and peaceful. Every room has a view of the savannah. Animals were seen from the terraces and rooms regularly. I loved these views!! Loved it! The people are beautiful and lovely. They were one of the best parts. The drives to find animals were, every time successful. George can see a dot in the grass that is something hiding, when we saw nothing. While driving! And we found everybody!! More than once. Except the leopard and rhino. We found those two just once. Really great! And the rhino was as we were exiting the park to leave. Five minutes before we went through the gate. Unbelievable!! George said- You never know, anything can happen. And it did. We were so lucky. We saw lions with cubs, cheetah, hippo, giraffe, crocodiles, hyena, warthogs- the cutest things ever - baboons with babies, monkeys, jackal, many elephants, and zillions of zebra, buffalo and wildebeest. And tons of beautiful and interesting birds. And many impala, gazelle, eland, waterbuck, antelope, hartebeest, topi. At the lodge, lizards, baboons and mongoose aplenty. Beautiful animals. We were so lucky to see a river crossing for the migration too. So lucky. We cheered them on as they ran from the river and no one got munched by crocodile this time. Yay!! The peace and freedom I felt here was immense. Wide, open space. I loved it. We saw the animals, all happy and living free. We saw the people, beautiful, so nice and very happy to help with anything. This experience far exceeded my thoughts and expectations. George and Pongezi were very easy to work with in planning this trip. George helped so much in making this a wonderful experience. We learned so much from him. About Kenya, the people and the animals. I knew this trip would be amazing and wonderful, but I never thought it would be this amazing and wonderful. My life has been enriched by this experience. I will never forget it. Never. Thank you so much George. Sincerely, Stacy P.S. We also went to Taita Hills and Amboseli with George for 2 nights at each lodge prior to the Mara. I will also review that tour. It was equally wonderful.

          Masai Mara in April
Back in Masai Mara after a long absence from Kenya. Plains and hills carpeted in green; the sky a mosaic of blues, whites and cobalts, beauty under the rain. The professional experience of George, our guide, was fundamental not only to enjoy the views but also to get acquainted with the flora and wildlife in the Mara. The Big Five were completed with a visit to the Nairobi National Park. The guidance, patience and safety procedures provided by George made for an unforgettable experience that we will certainly repeat.

          Experience of a lifetime
We did a five day Safari between Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha and Amboseli with Weru as our Guide. It was a spectacular trip. The Guide (Weru) was incredibly attentive and friendly. Where we only saw vegetation he discovered Lions, Cheetahs and all kinds of animals. He has in-depth knowledge of all the places visited. He knows each trail like the back of his hands, which allowed us to have a fantastic experience. Moreover, it is very patient with the wishes of customers, whether to stop to take a photo, or just to contemplate a landscape. It was, without a doubt, the experience of a lifetime and I just have to thank our Guide (Weru), because without him it would not have been possible. Thank you very much Weru.

I went to Kenya/ Masia Mara for the first time. I booked the 4 days tour with Pongezi Africa Safaris Company. They were excellent, especially our tour guide “ Goerge who always took the extra mile to please as and attend to our requests. He took the extra mile that we see all the big 5 and more. I really recommend a safari in Masia Mara especially with Pongezi Africa and with Goerge.

          Exceeds Expectations
I highly recommend this tour. The customer service was outstanding and far exceeded my expectations. When I landed in Nairobi, the airline lost my wife's luggage. The next flight to Nairobi with my bag wasn't for several days. My contact with Pongezi, George Weru contacted the airline and made sure that they had all of the necessary information to get the bag to us. When he determined that there was some risk that the airline wouldn't get the bag to us timely, his first thought was of my wife's comfort. George went to the airport, picked up the bag and drove hours to personally deliver it to us. Additonally, George coordinated with the camps to make sure our accommodations within the camps were in the best possible spots for viewing animals. Our guide, Moses, was outstanding. He was more than happy to answer questions and provide detailed information related to Kenyan history and culture. While in the national parks, he shared his extensive knowledge of animals and nature. On top of all of that, he had what could only be described as a supernatural ability to spot wildlife. We saw a least one cat each day. While no trip to Kenya would be complete without going to Masai Mara, our visit to Meru N/P was magical. On a full day safari, we didn't see any other visitors. The animals are a bit more "wild" in that they aren't comfortable around people. It makes for a unique experience. Overall, everything about this tour far exceeded my expectations.
