About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- rymiar0 contributionsA reputable company you can trust! And a blast on Safari. This was our first safari, and we were skeptical about what tour company to hire. After nearly being scammed by another tour company, we were impressed by the professionalism of Achillies Safaris. It is commonplace to pay for the whole safari up front, so parting with thousands of dollars is not easy. Dennis, who helped us organize the trip, was extremely responsive and helpful in tailoring the safari to our needs. Our guide/driver, Peter, was prompt, professional, and very knowledgeable about the animals. He was also easy-going and got us everywhere we needed to be on time. He was an incredibly skilled and safe driver, which is needed on the bumpy roads, and in the wet, muddy conditions we experienced. The lodging was all impeccable— they have curated quite the experience! We organized the safari for our honeymoon and couldn’t be more pleased with how it turned out! I have highly recommended Achillies Safaris to all my friends and family – book them, you won’t regret it!Written March 31, 2024

- 220rosen0 contributionsNature Experience with Rose!!We had booked with Achilles safaris earlier on September. The company confirmed our immediately. Rose together with John picked us from the airport upon our arrival.she welcomed us warmly and without hesitation gave us a lot of information about Kenya.she was also eager to know about our flight from Germany. We were taken to a hotel where she had already booked for us. On the second day,she took us from our hotel on an early morning and accompanied us to the Karen Blixen museum. The Giraffe centre and back to our hotel later in the day.she and the driver were good friends for the whole day. On the Third day,Rose and John who was the driver took us to Amboseli Game Reserve recommended by the company's management and with the knowledge of the park,Rose took us around the park.we were very happy later in the day to see Tim who was the oldest Elephant in the park.we were able to capture the best view for Mt.Kilimanjaro that borders Kenya and Tanzania. Rose and John were too much friendly and equipped with the best history that we required. The also adapted to our poor English. We were too much happy that we even needed more time with them.We were poor in English and that was not a problem to her. We had 2nights in the Samburu where we had wonderful places to take photos together. Our trip was about to end where John took us to Naivasha and booked a very nice hotel for us.We were to spend a night there with my colleagues after being served with the most delicious African food. In the following morning,Rose and John took us to Entim Camp at Marariver. It has excellent view especially the wildlife and among them were cheetahs, Lions,Leopards,Elephants and Hippos as well. It was an excellent tour, well organized and outstanding spectacular guides. We highly recommend the Achillies Safaris for their amazing tour.Thankyou Rose and John for giving us these Impressing experiences!Written March 27, 2020

We joined Daniel for a Nairobi downtown walking tour this morning. Daniel was a terrific guide: he shared a very useful overview of Kenyan history and the history of the city as well as his perspective on how the city is changing today. We really appreciated the dialogue and the chance to get to know the city and its people a bit. I highly recommend Daniel as a guide and the tour itself.

It was my first time in Africa, and this tour gave me a lot of great context for my trip. I was the only one on this tour and my guide Nicholas was very knowledgeable about the history of Nairobi and Kenya and a very good explainer. He showed me a lot of landmarks and gave me a better handle on my unfamiliar surroundings. If you like history and experiencing things without a touristy varnish, I recommend this tour.

Daniel was an amazing guide and very knowledgeable! We always enjoy taking city tours so that we have a chance to walk with the locals and see the true city. The tour took about 3 hours which was also nice. I definitely recommend booking with this company!

The meeting place was a little confusing, but I did catch up with daniel. One other person on tour with me. We walked around the center of the city that is mostly governmental and business. It is not residential at all. The buildings were not all that interesting to look at, but they did bring up things for us to talk about and things for me to learn about nairobi, Kenya, and lifestyle here. We saw the site of the 1998 US Embassy bombing, statues of some of the freedom fighters who helped to free Kenya from British colonialism, and we talked about dowries and marriages, etc. Talked about children and the culture. I thought it was a very good orientation to nairobi and Kenya, although, perhaps, not a very representative sampling of the city? Nevertheless, recommend.

This was a fantastic way to see the city as a lone female traveller! Nicholas made me feel very safe and was so knowledgeable about the history of Nairobi. He was able to answer any questions I had and was extremely friendly and welcoming. I really recommend this experience to anyone staying here! Thank you 😊

This was a safe and educational introduction to Nairobi. We learned historical, cultural and economical insights from our guide. We walked for 2 1/2 hours around the city center and enjoyed every minute! I highly recommend this excursion!

Amazing tour with Brian that covered the history of Kenya the traditions of the individual tribes, the origin of the Swahili language. Walled around the government buildings and distinctive sights of the city. With a last stop at a lovely Cafe for lunch, Coffee, tea and delicious pastries.

I had an afternoon off in Nairobi, and at short notice I was able to join this tour. Nicholas answered promptly, and he explained all I needed to know to get to the starting point. We were with two others and had a great afternoon. Nicholas is very knowledgeable about Kenyan history and culture, and I enjoyed listening to him.
