6 Days Mount Kenya Climbing through Sirimon Route

By Gracepatt Ecotours Kenya
About
The most popular route although not the most scenic. It is also the fastest route to point Lenana. Take this classic route up Mount Kenya though the notoriously treacherous vertical bog and into the wide Teleki Valley beneath the Tryndall, The Lewis Glacier. Though the summit can be reached in 4 days as per the below itinerary, we strongly recommend an overnight acclimatization at the base, Naromoru River Lodge. This can be arranged for at an extra fee

          Spectacular Safari
Spectacular experience! Our guide, Benjamin, was outstanding and incredibly knowledgeable. We saw the “Big 5” and so much more! The accommodations were interesting and varied and we had enough food options to satisfy our group. We can’t thank you enough for memories that will last a lifetime.

Best choice for half day excursion
We had just a half day of free time in Nairobi and I’m so glad we chose this excursion. Everyone has seen an elephant at a zoo, etc., but this is on an entirely different level. To watch the orphaned elephants and rhino walk into the public areas with their caretakers is a once in a lifetime experience. To see them drink from bottles is endearing. To hear the stories of how they arrived at the orphanage is touching. And I petted the baby elephant and rhino! An unforgettable day!!!

          Baby elephants and rhinos
An interesting experience. It was super muddy due to all the rain Kenya was getting. The orphans were fun to watch being fed and the baby rhino was a show stealer. Highly recommend you put this on your Kenya safari list.

Full day but not so great timing
Nice way to see a lot of things in one day. It’s not a guided tour, so you just get dropped of at the different spots. But you get plenty of information from the staff at the different stops, so that’s ok. The only downside was the timing. We had only 30min to eat lunch, of which we had to wait 20min until it was made and had to eat REALLY quickly before leaving. And even so, we arrived late at the Bomas of Kenya, so we missed a part of the show.

Excellent day trip with a scenic drive
We took a 12 hour day trip from Nairobi that included both Nakuru and Naivasha lakes. Our guide Simon was excellent, flexible and friendly , very knowledgeable. The views of the rift valley from the look out point were stunning. At Nakuru we didn’t see flamingos as they had migrated further away because of The recent heavy rainfall with lack of shallow waters for them to stand in. We did, however, see a lion up close, in addition to many other wildlife, including zebras, impala, and many birds species. We took a break at the Noor Lodge, which has a beautiful view of the lake. Had some tea and omelettes. At Naivasha we took a boat ride with stunning views. It was an excellent trip that I highly recommend.

A must do while in Kenya!
Great trip! Our guide Stephen was fantastic . On time and squared away. We were picked up at our hotel, in the morning and arrived at the giraffe center right before opening. Stephen seemed to know everyone along the way, and was very knowledgeable of the animals and the history of the conservation efforts. We experienced a traffic jam upon entering the elephant orphanage , and Stephen’s knowledge of the park kept us moving and got us to the park in time to see the presentation . My wife and I had a wonderful time and were thankful to be in the care of this top notch group of folks. We’d give Stephen and this tour 6 stars if possible.

          Wonderful Solo Tour
Titus was a fantastic guide! I was a solo traveler and never felt unsafe. The guide was very professional, a great driver, and had a good eye for spotting all the animals! To note: the typical lunch spot is solidly a tourist trap, so just be aware before you go into it. Don't buy any souvenirs from the shop. Ask not to go to the buffet spot next to a gift shop if possible.

          Great experience, expert guide
This tour was really great, and well worth getting up early for. Our guide Steven got us there promptly to avoid all the crowds and queues. He even told us where to stand to get the best pictures. Highly recomended.

A definite must if you are in Nairobi!
I was fetched by Stephen on the morning of the tour. He was warm and friendly. We fetched another guest and then headed to the Giraffe centre. We learned about the reason for its existence and information about the Rothschild giraffes. We were able to interact and feed the giraffes who wander across from the neighboring conservancy. Then we headed to the Elephant orphanage, where we were given an informative talk about the incredible work they do - rescuing, caring for and releasing the orphans. We watched a morning feed and were able to experience the babies, up close. The Bead factory was a wonderful opportunity to see what opportunity can give people who otherwise would have slim prospects of supporting themselves and their families. The work is of high quality and the shop had a great selection of belts, bags and beads. I had a truly memorable experience in Nairobi. I would highly recommend this tour. Stephen was a great guide and answered all our questions. He allowed us time to wander around after the visits to look at the incredible work that was available to buy. Just go!

          A Nairobi Adventure
I really enjoyed this once in a lifetime adventure! We were able to pet and feed giraffes, visit with baby elephants and even a baby rhino. We learned about the bead making process and heard the touching stories of the women at the bead factory. After lunch at a tasty and scenic restaurant we ended the day with Bomas of Kenya. The singing and dancing performances were a beautiful end to an amazing day. Thank you Stephen Mutuku (my driver and guide for the day) for being an excellent, knowledgeable and courteous host.

          Solo trip experience
The best part was the beautiful view from the room, my room faced the water hole. The break from salt lick to have lunch at Taita hill was a good idea since there is no much activities. I also got to seat at the bar one afternoon and it was so calm with a beautiful view. The chef Josephine was very kind passed by after dinner to check on how the meal was and for any requests for the next day. Martin our driver was also very kind. All the staff at the lodge were very friendly and respectful. It would however be nice if there was a phone at the room to communicate with the reception. It’s sad that get to see many animals just 3 elephants, two lioness from far and some grass feeding animals. The one down side is the lodge phone number do not go through and at some point I was frustrated wondering how to contact them. Please fix your phones.

          A Fantastic Day
A long but fun-filled day. The Giraffe Center was a lot of fun! Feeding the giraffes was so cool! We also learned quite a bit and got to see actual bones. The Elephant Orphanage was also really cool. The elephants were close enough to touch. They were very playful and fun to watch! The Bead Center was so interesting! We got to see how the beads are made and painted individually. The Bomas of Kenya was so much fun! The music was incredible and the dancing was so impressive! They even invited the audience to dance with them!
