We recently completed our second Kenyan safari led by Hosking Agoi, the owner of Affable Tours and Safaris. Like our first, 5 years ago, it was an exceptional experience. Our 2-week itinerary included Amboseli National Park, Lake Naivasha, and the Masai Mara. Obviously, the focus was the animals, and, thanks to Agoi’s spotting abilities, we saw an amazing variety, including several rarities like servals and genet cats. All of our lodgings were excellent, featuring comfortable rooms, spacious common areas, and a wide variety of fine foods. Kenyan roads proved the only downside to our tour—although improved from 5 years ago, there were many miles of bumpy, rutted roads.

What a fantastic experience! We went to Amboseli N.P. and saw so many hippos and elephants. Saw a Serval at dusk. What a beautiful small cat. The best was watching the hyena finishing off a lion kill. The Ark in the Aberdares was a super night time experience. Elephant family at the watering hole, a young female chased off hyenas. The Civet was a great find too. A must see. The Mara was wonderful, as always, with another siting of a Serval! Giraffes, Elephants, Lions, Cape Buffalo and so many beautiful birds! A great experience! The drivers were extremely knowledgeable, courteous, and accommodating.

I went on a 2 week safari trip with Affable Tours and Safaris in September 2019. I couldn't have been more pleased with my experience. Agoi and Poli are excellent drivers and caring tour guides. They are so knowledgeable! I was in a group of 11 people. We would often leave very early to start our animal spotting. A typical day would start with breakfast, go out for animal spotting, return for lunch, and go out again before dinner! We visited Masai Mara, Amboseli with views of Kilimanjaro, Aberdare National Park, Lake Naivasha, The Elephant Orphanage in Nairobi, and Mount Kenya. We also visited some cultural gems like the Kazuri bead factory and a Massai village. Interestingly enough, some of the most valuable time for me was spent traveling from one place to another. I reveled in seeing the small villages, the roadside life of the Kenyan people, and learning a bit about history and politics.
The whole trip was life altering for me. I came away with a new and deeper understanding of the value of getting out of one's usual comfort zone! Agoi and his team were excellent guides and hosts in their home country. In fact their attention to safety and detail allowed me to develop a new comfort zone in Kenya. I never even saw that coming! I would highly recommend Affable to anyone who wants to see Kenya up close. Beautiful....just beautiful.
