2 Day Lake Nakuru National Park Safari - Daily Departures

By Gracepatt Ecotours Kenya
About
Explore Lake Nakuru National park the only parks in Kenya where you can drive up close to White Rhino and may even snap a shot of them with flocks of flamingos on the Lake in the background. Lake Nakuru is a must-see for any avid birder, not only will you witness the spectacle of up to two million Greater and Lesser Flamingos. There are also many other water birds, most notably pelicans, herons and storks that call the lake home. The Park is one of the best places in Kenya to see Leopard and, as it is a Rhino sanctuary, this is one of the places in Kenya to see the Big Five. Leopards are elusive, so sightings are not guaranteed, but you may just come across one lounging on a branch. The Park is also a sanctuary for the rare Rothschild Giraffe.

A must do while in Kenya!
Great trip! Our guide Stephen was fantastic . On time and squared away. We were picked up at our hotel, in the morning and arrived at the giraffe center right before opening. Stephen seemed to know everyone along the way, and was very knowledgeable of the animals and the history of the conservation efforts. We experienced a traffic jam upon entering the elephant orphanage , and Stephen’s knowledge of the park kept us moving and got us to the park in time to see the presentation . My wife and I had a wonderful time and were thankful to be in the care of this top notch group of folks. We’d give Stephen and this tour 6 stars if possible.

          Wonderful Solo Tour
Titus was a fantastic guide! I was a solo traveler and never felt unsafe. The guide was very professional, a great driver, and had a good eye for spotting all the animals! To note: the typical lunch spot is solidly a tourist trap, so just be aware before you go into it. Don't buy any souvenirs from the shop. Ask not to go to the buffet spot next to a gift shop if possible.

          Great experience, expert guide
This tour was really great, and well worth getting up early for. Our guide Steven got us there promptly to avoid all the crowds and queues. He even told us where to stand to get the best pictures. Highly recomended.

A definite must if you are in Nairobi!
I was fetched by Stephen on the morning of the tour. He was warm and friendly. We fetched another guest and then headed to the Giraffe centre. We learned about the reason for its existence and information about the Rothschild giraffes. We were able to interact and feed the giraffes who wander across from the neighboring conservancy. Then we headed to the Elephant orphanage, where we were given an informative talk about the incredible work they do - rescuing, caring for and releasing the orphans. We watched a morning feed and were able to experience the babies, up close. The Bead factory was a wonderful opportunity to see what opportunity can give people who otherwise would have slim prospects of supporting themselves and their families. The work is of high quality and the shop had a great selection of belts, bags and beads. I had a truly memorable experience in Nairobi. I would highly recommend this tour. Stephen was a great guide and answered all our questions. He allowed us time to wander around after the visits to look at the incredible work that was available to buy. Just go!

          A Nairobi Adventure
I really enjoyed this once in a lifetime adventure! We were able to pet and feed giraffes, visit with baby elephants and even a baby rhino. We learned about the bead making process and heard the touching stories of the women at the bead factory. After lunch at a tasty and scenic restaurant we ended the day with Bomas of Kenya. The singing and dancing performances were a beautiful end to an amazing day. Thank you Stephen Mutuku (my driver and guide for the day) for being an excellent, knowledgeable and courteous host.

          Solo trip experience
The best part was the beautiful view from the room, my room faced the water hole. The break from salt lick to have lunch at Taita hill was a good idea since there is no much activities. I also got to seat at the bar one afternoon and it was so calm with a beautiful view. The chef Josephine was very kind passed by after dinner to check on how the meal was and for any requests for the next day. Martin our driver was also very kind. All the staff at the lodge were very friendly and respectful. It would however be nice if there was a phone at the room to communicate with the reception. It’s sad that get to see many animals just 3 elephants, two lioness from far and some grass feeding animals. The one down side is the lodge phone number do not go through and at some point I was frustrated wondering how to contact them. Please fix your phones.

          A Fantastic Day
A long but fun-filled day. The Giraffe Center was a lot of fun! Feeding the giraffes was so cool! We also learned quite a bit and got to see actual bones. The Elephant Orphanage was also really cool. The elephants were close enough to touch. They were very playful and fun to watch! The Bead Center was so interesting! We got to see how the beads are made and painted individually. The Bomas of Kenya was so much fun! The music was incredible and the dancing was so impressive! They even invited the audience to dance with them!

Steven was a fantastic guide! Incredibly patient. Knew the best places to take pictures. We felt so fortunate as we saw so many lions, rhinos, giraffes and zebras amongst so many other animals. We felt do fortunate to have him as a guide! Highly highly recommend. Incredibly efficient. Met us at the airport which made it so easy.

Amazing time with Gracepatt Travel in Kenya
My wife and I just finished our 2 week holiday in Kenya. We used Gracepatt for a 9 day safari as well as a day tour from Nairobi and airport transfers coming and going. Communication before our trip with Grace in the office was always clear and prompt. Our transfers and day tour went smoothly and pick up were punctual. On our safari we visited 6 parks and reserves and Grace was flexible in allowing us itinerary and accommodation options when we were planning. On safari our guide Titus, went out of his way to provide a great experience and see and photograph all the animals we could have hoped for and more. Additionally he was great at finding animals and was an experienced and excellent driver to boot, which is truly important once you see what Kenyan roads are like. All the accommodations were comfortable and…. This was key for us….we had the entire Toyota Land Cruiser to ourselves. While we saw similar vehicles packeked with up to 6plus people, we had the luxury to spread out, stop and go as we wanted, and had lots of space to get in positions to take photographs as my wife and I are keen photo bugs. All this for what I thought was a very reasonable price. So I highly recommend Geacepatt for your Kenyan travel needs.

Stephan is an Amazing Tour Guide
Stephen was an amazing tour guide. He gave lots of information to my group about Kenyan culture for us being first time tourists. We thoroughly enjoyed our tours and our tour with him was the highlight of our time in Kenya.

We had 1night2days tour to lake Bogoria and Nakuru.
At the Great Rift Valley, a tire had a small puncture but our driver guide Stephan dropped at a petro station and fixed it, it took less than 30min.

At lake Bogoria, the park was flooded and we couldn't drive in the park at all, nothing but see thousands of flamingos. That's all for the entrance fee US$50! But it's OK otherwise we have no chance to see them so close, so many...
On the way back, Stephan showed us the beekeeper on Acacia threes, stopped at the equator.

The 2nd day, after breakfast we had a safari with our 4x4 roof top van.
Stephan took us to watch a lion couple mating about 10m distance!
We met rhinos(with a baby),zebras, giraffes, buffalos etc., visited a waterfall and spent more than 4 hours.

Stephan is nice and helpful, careful driver so that we had a very good time.
He shared with us a tasty local biskets which he bought from a vender on the road near nakuru. We like it so much so that on way back to Nairobi, we asked him to buy it for souvenir.
When he stopped at a local vegetable market for his shopping, he left us in the car and locked it. It was excited and a good experience to see the local markets and people, observe him negociating with them.
But we were surrounded by many many farmers in the car, and one guy who staring at me and my belongings found the bisckets seen from tiny slit of my backpack, and asked it to me again and again. I just tried to ignore him but it was very scary he even tried to open the window.

Another good experience with him is, he drove a rather quiet highland route to the Great Rift Valley, along the way, we saw the local people carrying milking can in a foggy morning, it's a kind of dream-like atmosphere. The road from Nakuru to Nairobi, he took a different route which we could see green house and tea plantations.
We have been to the Great Rift Valley three times with guide so far and he is the only one who reffered the history of the Great Rift Valley.

Our accommodation was MatFam Resort. The staff are all nice, the room is not big but clean and tidy, the food was good.
The problem was we didn't have hot water. FYI, amenity is soap only, one local TV channel, no tea&coffee facility in the room.
