My husband and I just finished this tour an hour ago and I had to write a review as I like my memory to be as fresh as possible when I write. Booking this tour was such a breeze and so easy to do, along with the confirmations and instructions on where to go. On our tour was just my husband and 1 other couple and we each had out own guide. I had Kissmart and my husband had Typhoon and we spent most of our time with these two guides. Nairobi is our stop back to the USA so we decided we wanted to do something different, neither of us are really into super touristy things but we both loved the opportunity to see Nairobi out of the tourists attractions and to be surrounded by locals without exploited them and their community. From the start Kissmart started pointing out places he used to sleep under or where he would pick pocket. It's incredible the outlook he has on life after how hard his beginnings were. He has such a positive vibe and only wants go better his community and help others succeed. I can tell he truly a community gem with the amount of people who were waving to him across the streets and in every direction. If you get Kissmart as your guide, make sure he tells you his poop bucket story, it's one I'll be sharing with family and friends! Now, Typhoon, always smiling and like a bubble of sunshine! My husband felt like they could be friends and he taught him all sorts of street slang and how to fit in with his crew. When we went to the market he helped us haggle and though my Asian-a** could have probably haggled more my conservative husband hates haggling so he did minimal haggling (my mom would be disappointed.) I would recommend this tour to ANYONE coming to Nairobi, even if it's just a day. There wasn't a single moment when I felt unsafe and they do a good job of making sure we're all well taken care of that no one harrasses us.
Don't second guess it! Honestly, if I came to Nairobi alone as a female I'd book this tour! The guys waited until our uber got there, made sure it was the right one and let me bum off their hotspot to order the ride so they stayed with us til the end so we could leave safely. Impeccable tour and fellows!

We had such a wonderful afternoon spending time with these upbeat guys who shared so much about their lives and how they overcame challenges living on the streets of Nairobi as kids. We spent the beginning of the tour walking through the different neighborhoods - uptown, downtown, etc - with explanations of the lifestyle in each place & how each of our guides fit into the street scene. What they share with you is beyond imagination and yet they are so open about their history and the path that led them to find a new way to live. Later they took us to a market where women make beaded handicrafts and other goods and they negotiated on our behalf. They also offered to share a meal with us, but we had to get back to the hotel. All in all, we were so happy to meet these inspiring human beings who are now also serving meals to street children and taking time to mentor them. This tour will leave you feeling and thinking about life with a fresh perspective. A must do for anyone visiting Nairobi.

My guides Typhoon and Donga showed me a Nairobi that I would otherwise never have seen. We met at the Hilton and then ventured out for a walk in the downtown area east of Moi Avenue. Those streets are superbusy and a no-go-zone for the average traveller, but with a local, it is safe to go there.
This was definitely worth it, and I would recommend the tour to anyone who wants to dig a bit deeper into Nairobi than what the uptown area has to offer.

For us this tour was the perfect way to start our trip in Kenya. From the moment we met the guys they were very open, very cheerful and we felt completely at ease in every part of the city they took us. It was really impressive to hear the stories about their lives and it is very inspiring to hear them talk about the mission they have to help children who are in the same position they once were. Besides from the heavy stories they told us, there was more than enough space for a good laugh and to practice the necessary Swahili slang words!! We recommend this tour to everyone who wants to get to know Nairobi in the realest way possible.

If you are in Nairobi for even half of a day, sign up for this tour! For those of us traveling through Nairobi for safari, I think it’s important to see how real people live here. These young men were charismatic, well spoken and true change makers for their community. Each one of our guides told us stories of trauma and still manage to be resilient and give back to their communities. Many of them are school teachers, coaches, and helpers for the young minds in their community. I appreciated their openness and willingness to answer questions. Seriously! Sign up for this tour and try to tip a few extra bucks if you can. These guys have had hardly any business due to COVID and any extra Im sure is appreciated! It’s the most eye opening and important experience you can have in Kenya.

Nai Nami's Nairobi Storytelling Tour won't leave you indifferent. Not only will you discover the secrets of old town Nairobi in a 3hours walking tour, but mostly you will hear the stories of street boys that once lived in these streets and survived through incredible strength and resilience. This tour is an important reminder of the reality of many people in Kenya and will leave you thinking! Daniel, Typhoon, and the whole team are so nice and attentive you will feel like one of the city dwellers and you even get to explore the Kariokor market and finish the tour with a lunch at one of the local restaurants. A must do!

This tour was amazing. Everyone was extremely knowledgeable about the area and told very compelling stories about their childhood. I felt completely safe and was able to explore areas of the city that I would not have seen otherwise. The guides are full of life and will make sure you have a great time. If you are interested in doing some shopping they will take you through the market and help you bargain prices. The tour ends at a restaurant with amazing food

I had such a wonderful time meeting Kissmart and the rest of the tour guides. They were very insightful, knowledgeable, kind, patient and helpful. But the most enlightening part of the tour was hearing about each of their backgrounds and how they overcame all of their obstacles to live and serve as mentors in the ways that they do now.
They took us to various parts of Nairobi, explaining the different ways of life in each part, sharing their stories as well as some history of the neighborhoods. Where most tours only take you through the bright and shiny parts of the city in a bus or a van, you are actually walking through the neighborhoods with guys from the streets. If you’re hesitant because you will be walking, don’t, it seems that everyone knows them, respects them, and they are very protective of the clients. You will leave the tour in lightened thankful and have a new appreciation for the obstacles and the opportunities that these kind fellows have overcome. Highly recommended parentheses formally) who really know the neighborhoods and the stories

Daniel and his friends were in contact from the start, the tour felt professional yet real. Daniel shared his story in a truthful and humble way and it really felt special to walk through the streets with someone who has survived and thrived despite all the harsh realities. Really a must-see and do...this experience stayed with me throughout my trip to kenya thanks to Daniel and the guys...they also haggled for me very nicely in the markets 🙏🏽

My brother and I traveled from the USA (California) and spent close to a week in Nairobi. We booked this tour based on other reviews and it was SO awesome! We were met by five of the guys promptly on time. My brother and I each had one of them walk with us the entire time explaining the streets and their childhood to each of us personally. They were very professional, we felt so safe and they were all so easy going and super funny too! It was very inspiring to hear their stories as children and how they overcame many obstacles in their lives to create a great life for themselves. We walked all around the downtown area, learned so much about the them and the city and then enjoyed lunch together at the end. They were very open to all our crazy questions and were really wonderful & humble guys. Make sure you take this tour! It's a must if you're visiting Nairobi!

Possible to have a pickup and dropoff at the Tamarind Hotel? Also to have a private (just me) tour? I would like to take photographs and don't want to be a burden on others. What would be the cost? Do the guides provide some insight into history and culture, in addition to life on the street? Thanks.

We were just two of us, but it was due to limited tourists at that time, however i’m sure they can arrange it. Contact them directly.they are very responsive as their business is based on internet communication
It also depends how many of them will participate. We enjoyed the variety of their personal stories, each of them has something special to share. Related to history and culture these guys have grown up on the streets so they can share their stories and what they learned, do not except trained guides, but this is the beauty of this tour.
