    Kiambethu Farm
Stop: 4 hours - Admission included
The tour starts by pick you from your Nairobi Hotel/Accommodation. Arrive Kiambethu Tea Estate 11am, main house. Marcus and Fiona welcome you with some home made biscuits (yum!) and of course tea, before regaling tales of the farm and the tea making process The gardens around the home are lovely and well worth a stroll, especially to catch glimpses of the resident colobus monkeys! Also included in the tour is a walk through the indigenous forest that is still preserved (most was cleared for the tea farms). The guide is highly entertaining and comical! The tour ends with a relaxed lunch. Again most of the produce is locally sourced and when making reservations inform them of any dietary requirements! Lunch is a 3 course affair with complementary beverages, soft drinks and of course teas and coffee! Return to the city arriving at around 4:30pm.

While this is not a must see while in Nairobi, I found it pretty interesting. It helps that I'm also a tea lover. It takes about 45 mins to get out there from Central Nairobi, so imagine the primary cost is transportation. Once at the farm we got a walk-through what they do, getting to see the beautiful countryside and fields. We also had a brief walk in their nearby protected forest reserve.
We learned a little bit about tea and how it's processed although the tour does not include a visit to a tea processing facility, which is off-site. There was also a lovely meal served in their gardens.

I love tea and this tour was not only a stunning change from the bustle of Nairobi city center, but I also learned so much about tea. Fiona and her staff were so welcoming and informative and my guide, Stephen, is so friendly and thoughtful. I forgot to ask someone to take a photo of me while I was feeding a monkey. Stephen anticipated this and took photos for me! All around, such a lovely experience and I'd love to come back.
