About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- jotravelgirl0 contributionsPerfect SafariWe were attracted to PerfectWilderness as a local company offering an 11-day midrange private safari in Kenya and Tanzania for our family of four for a fraction of the price most other companies were charging. We did not know quite what to expect for a budget price, but it turns out the entire experience was fantastic! We enjoyed excellent communications with the main office (thank you Damaris!), amazing English-speaking guides, a very well-planned itinerary with good lodging and food--and even a phenomenal quick reaction to getting us out of a pickle with a lost passport. Most nights we were staying in beautiful lodges within (or very close to) the national parks with spacious grounds to explore and often animals right on the premises. We can't say enough about our guides (Mike, Elly and Elias). The bottom lines for a great guide are expertise, experience/intuition, communications skills, and...really solid driving skills. Boy did these gentlemen deliver! They were absolutely expert, very interesting, resourceful, and unconditionally accommodating. We saw over 30 animals (all of the major ones less the elusive leopard), most many times over, and over 30 bird species. And talk about accommodating. Our family includes avid photographers and we had a suitcase full of camera gear with us in the vehicle. We ended up with over 30,000 images and an absolutely gorgeous safari portfolio—largely due to the guides' abilities to find the animals and their patience in working with us on exactly positioning the vehicle for great shots. By having the entire vehicle (and guide) to ourselves, we were able to move around within the vehicle to obtain the exact images we wanted. The volume of information about the wildlife and their environs our guides provided was remarkable, including fascinating details on the family structure of each species, their habits, and more. An extra bonus for us was knowing that, by going with a local Nairobi company, our money would be staying in Africa rather than going to some large international company. Enjoy the trip of a lifetime for less than half the price with PerfectWilderness.Written September 16, 2024

Stephen picked us up at our apartment on time and was always helpful, sharing his knowledge of various places we saw along the trip. When we got to the tour, Bernard was equally helpful and knowledgeable, stopping at various places to take pictures of us. Overall, what a fun day, would recommend!Written September 12, 2024
- cdrsuresh0 contributionsMemorable Trip to Kenya And TanzaniaI took their 11-day Kenya, Tanzania tour. It was good except for the last leg of the tour, viz return trip from Arusha to Nairobi for which we had to wait about 2 hours for pick up. Considering the peak season, I had booked the tour for August 2024 in Mar itself. The situation subsequently changed with the violence in Kenya and MPox threats. However, they didn't give any discounts. Tour vehicle was good. Accommodation at Nairobi and Arusha was average. Maasai Mara was below average. In Tanzania, it was good, especially at Ngorongoro and Tarangiri. Overall we enjoyed the trip.Written September 11, 2024
- Szymon K0 contributionsNice trip, with potential for improvementsIt is a good trip if you’re looking for spending time actively. The distance on bicycle trip was around 18km, return is a bit uphill. Isaac is a nice guy and can tell you a lot about the city, the park and Kenya. Things that could be improved (especially given the price): - bikes are dated, gears do not work perfectly and brakes are weak - I asked before trip if we’re going to be provided with a bottled water and got a positive reply, but this was not the case after all - it is hot at the park so guests should be informed to buy the water and take the sunscreen - the car could be cleanerWritten September 8, 2024

- Ecsee0 contributionsPrivate Mount Longonot TourMy driver, Gem picked me up from my hotel early in the morning and we drove to Mount Longonot. On the way, she was telling me thing about Niaorbi, the things we were seeing on our way to Mount Longonot, and the Great Rift Valley. I really appreciate her knowledge and her good driving. At Mount Longonot, I got my own private tour guide (I forgot his name). He was very patient and was able to point out animals from a distance. He even got some good pictures for me! It was a really beautiful hike. On my way down, it got super crowded and people going up were in a very slow moving line. Starting early means beating the heat and the crowd.Afterwards, Gem drove me back to my hotel and we had a really good conversation during the ride. I would recommend hiring this tour since I had a really good driver (Gem), got a private tour guide, and we started early.Written September 8, 2024
- Ecsee0 contributionsRide from hotel to airportI booked a car from my hotel to the airport. Gem was my driver. She arrived before my pick up time and was very patient in waiting. I only had 1 carry on bag and 1 backpack but her car was big enough to fit multiple large suitcases. She is very kind. Highly recommended!Written September 8, 2024
- Ecsee0 contributionsHikeI had a great hike with David. He picked me up on time, grabbed lunch on the way, went to Naro Moru Gate (not Sirimon Gate as listed), and then dropped me off at my hotel. At Naro Moru Gate, he explained the different vegetation. It rained the day before so it was a little muddy. David found a tree branch for me to use as a hiking stick. It worked! I'm only taking off 1 star because we went to Naro Moru Gate instead of Sirimon Gate. We also did not drop off the Equator Marker. Otherwise, great tour and I felt safe throughout the whole hike.Written September 8, 2024

- 762diantew0 contributionsBook now!!! Amazing Tour!!!!Everything about this tour was incredible. The driver was prompt and the journey to Hell’s Gate was smooth. We stopped at the top of the rift valley at a Maasai market then continue onward. Once there, we chose our bikes and began one of the most beautiful rides Ive biked. Animals spotted included zebras, buffalos, baboons, giraffes, impalas. After about 8 km, we arrived at the entrance to a gorge we climbed down to explore. In the gorge, we encountered waterfalls and small rivers. This also included the valley that inspired scenes from Lion King and Tomb Raider. Finally, we went to Lake Navaisha and ordered food at the resort on the lake which was ready after our boat ride. The boat was amazing as we saw various birds and hippos on our way to an island that had wildebeest, ostrich, zebras, buffalos, elk, and other creatures relaxing side by side without the threat of any big cat predators. I cant recommend enough and if you are tired of car game drives then this is the tour for you!!!!Written September 7, 2024
- 983rolando0 contributionsViele Tiere und perfekte OrganisationThe Maasai Mara deserves to be called a wonder of the world. We have seen not only numerous elephants, buffalos, lions, and leopards, but also giraffes and zebras and numerous over species. We were also overwhelmed from the scenes of large herds of gnus or zebras of which I never expected that so many existed at all. Our guide Kevin has shown comprehensive knowledge of the Mara's places to go to actually find animals, perfectly complemented by listening to the radiotelephone. As we e.g. have been specifically into giraffes, Kevin managed to both navigate to prospective places as well as stopping on request when he or one of us spotted one, not forgetting the many other animals to see. We have booked the Private Safari as the all-inclusive package because we had no prior experience with safaris and a four years old daughter, and this worked out extremely well: the only money we have spent are some tips for excellent performance and an extra tour over the Lake Naivasha on our way back, see below. In particular, enough drinking water has been available at any time. We arrived the first day already for lunch at the accomodation, the Rhino Tourist Camp. The accomodation there are tented rooms including private bathrooms and a shower. Everything has been clean. Some background music has been perceivable throughout the night, most likely to deter in combination with light on all the way inside the camp to deter the wild animals. A double outlet allowed to recharge the batteries of the phones and cameras. Breakfast, lunch and dinner had excellent food including well prepared vegetables. We have started with a two-and-a-half hours tour on the afternoon of the first day. We have been totally overwhelmed by the richness of impressions very quickly, so this has been ample time in the Mara park for the first day. On the second day we spent the full day in the Mara, having lunch in boxes that Kevin has brought from the Rhino camp at the hippo observation spot where the Mara river crosses the boundary to Tanzania. We actually overdrafted the planned return time of 17h a little bit because there have been so many interesting animals to spot, and Kevin has spotted further animals up to the last minute. On the third day on our way back we decided to make a detour to the Lake Naivasha, and this has been a great extra, too: while there are relatively fewer birds in the Mara compared to the large number of mammals, the lake featured a rich ecosystem with specifically many birds. We also got as close as possible to a savage zabra and a savage giraffe. We have returned on the third day shortly before 19h at Nairobi.Written September 7, 2024

It was just a perfect trip, my guide Paul picked me up at 5 am and I had a chance to see a lot of Kenya’s incredible landscape. When we got to the conservancy, we popped the roof of the car open and went on a game drive. It’s such a nice place and the rhino density is really high. I brought my camera and Paul was really patient with me, stopping every few hundred meters to take pictures. We got home in time and it was a really nice drive with some good conversations. Can totally recommend it!

Ol Pejata is worth the trip! I actually organized this tour almost at the last minute during another tour with Perfect Wilderness (the 3-day Masai Mara tour). I was anxious that things might be sold out or that it would be too late but Caren made it work! The team at Perfect Wilderness is excellent and very responsive.
The day tour itself was magical: from hugging a black rhino to riding horses with the last two white rhinos on earth, it was surely a special experience.

This was a great day trip from Nairobi. It was about 3 hours each way, but it was nice to sit back and watch the views from the car. My guide/driver Peter was awesome! He was friendly and personable and very Knowledgeable about the wildlife during the game drive!!

Amazing place to visit. The roads are quite okay for a game drive(we used a 2wd saloon car). The routes are easy to follow with or without a guide. The experience with the wildlife is memorable. From the elephants at the elephant bridge to the water bucks, rhinos, chimpanzees etc. You will definately get to see alot of wildlife on this conservancy.

We got to see 4 out of the big 5!! I couldn't believe we were able to get so close to these wild animals. This tour is all day and perfect for people who don't have a lot of time to do a full Safari. You get breakfast and lunch and a comfortable ride there and back... I would do this tour again in a heartbeat! I had one hiccup and that was it took a while to get my confirmation but that was taken care of before I arrived in Nairobi and it was smooth sailing from there. Our driver George was great and full of knowledge about the animals you get to see. I fully recommend this tour!

Hello Jean,
Thank you for taking time to write us a review. We are delighted to read that you had an amazing tour with us and would recommend it to our TripAdvisor readers.
We apologize for the delay in confirming your booking and we have rectified this.
Olpejeta is one of the reason why you should visit the parks in Kenya. It is one of the prime sanctuaries of the Laikipia Plateau and the conservancy works to conserve wildlife and is a home for great apes.
We would like to have you again in future as we explore other destinations in Kenya.

first - apologies to the company that it's taken me a while to write this!
I had booked a solo trip to Kenya, arriving in Nairobi on new years eve, and was due to fly out to the Masia Mara two days later. I had a day free - New Years Day - and so booked a last minute trip. A quick look through the available choices (there are many) and Perfect Wilderness fit the bill. I chose a trip to Ol Pejeta because of the chance to see rhino, and especially - maybe - the northern white rhino that the Chinese hunger for keratin has driven almost to extinction.
The booking process was easy, great communication. They knew my guest house so arrangements were easy to settle too. Paul, my driver / guide / all round good guy, arrived on time (6am) and we were soon driving north through Nairobi, chatting about Kenya, politics, wildlife and revolution. My kind of morning. Seriously though, we had six hours of driving to and from the conservancy that day and I couldn't have asked for an easier person to spend that time with. He's also a maths genius (cheetah run 27 meters a second at full pelt).
Anyway - the conservancy itself is breathtaking. It feels a little weird 'reviewing' the natural world, but for the box-tickers out there, we saw an incredible array of animals. Paul went the extra mile trying to find them, and it was a great introduction to Kenya's wildlife: Zebra, Thomson's Gazelle, Elephant, Waterbuck, Baboon, Buffalo; and what I came for - the Rhino. We were lucky enough to see one of the last two female Northern White Rhino, the pure genetic line of which will be extinct when these pass away (note to China - it's the same stuff that's in your finger nails!). We also saw a family of Black Rhino, and the Southern White Rhino with which the conservationists are trying to breed the the Northern variety and preserve at least some of the pool.
The reminders of the war against the poaching industry is everywhere: the memorial stones to the poached rhino, the armed rangers patrolling, and the fenced off areas protecting these magnificent animals. We also visited the Rhino and Chimp sanctuaries - both well worth visiting.
Overall, a great day out and a great introduction to my trip - you won't be disappointed.
