We had a great guide/driver who knew the area and animals well. He called himself "Black Santa" and he certainly was Santa to us as we saw a pride of lions with numerous cubs drinking at a waterhole, we saw giraffes, wildebeests, white rhinos, a jackal, wonderful birds just to name a few. I highly recommend anyone coming through Nairobi to go on a safari visit these venues before you go. It's a great way to get "used" to seeing these wonderful creatures (if such a thing is possible!) and get some great photos.

This tour combined the three things I was most interested in seeing in our short time in Nairobi. We had a single day to spend in Nairobi before traveling onward to Tanzania.

Santa arrived early to pick us up from the hotel and was cheerful and excited to get started. There were only two of us, so the whole trip was pretty flexible. We discussed the itinerary for the day and what time we would arrive back to the hotel. Since we were traveling to Tanzania the next day, we needed a recent negative PCR test. Santa coordinated a traveling medical professional to come test us and they provided same day results, so we were able to relax and enjoy a stress free day.

We rearranged the stops so that Giraffe Center was our second stop since the test took some time and the elephant orphanage is only a 1-hour time slot. We arrived to the orphanage on time and were able to pet baby elephants as they came up to the fence and watched them drink bottles of milk and play in the mud. They explained the reasons why the elephants were there and each of their names and personalities. Overall it was very educational. They're pretty active on Instagram as well if you're interested in learning a little about the organization or want to follow them after your visit.

We stopped to purchase souvenirs at a shop that had just about everything you could want. They source their items from various villages and artists and sell on behalf of them so purchases go back to the community. The Giraffe Center was pretty simple, but we did what we came to do - hand feed the giraffes and took plenty of photos! For lunch we stopped at Hungers Nest and had some authentic Kenyan food and tea. Order the chapati! The food was delicious and the ambiance was relaxing with outdoor seating in a garden area.

Nairobi National park was beautiful juxtaposed against the city in the background. It started to rain a little during our drive, so I was a little worried we weren't going to see many animals. A lot of the other safari cars disappeared but we continued to drive around. Santa spotted a black rhino in the distance with his eagle eyes. It looked like a brown speck on the horizon. We saw zebras, ostriches, gazelle, antelope, warthogs, hippos, a crocodile, and a male lion sleeping. Then we turned a corner and saw a pride of lions that were right next to the car. Santa told us about animal traits and educated us while we encountered animals. Overall it was a fantastic experience and I would 10/10 recommend doing this if you are spending any time in Nairobi.

Our driver, Mofatt, was outstanding! He picked my son and me up from our hotel in Nairobi at 6:00 am for an early start to see incredible wildlife in Nairobi National Park. We saw a male lion do a series of roars, white and black rhinos, and giraffes necking. Mofatt was excellent at positioning the vehicle for the best viewing of animals and stayed in spots for as long as we wished for photography. He timed our exit from the park to get us a perfect position for viewing the elephants at Sheldrick. For lunch he took us to a small restaurant with art shops. At the Giraffe Center, Mofatt came in to take photos of us feeding the giraffes. Mofatt was professional, very welcoming, and knowledgeable about everything we saw and able to answer all of our questions. It was such a pleasure to spend the day with him. He generously wrote my son a sweet message in his travel journal at the conclusion of the day.

We had a good time on this. If I had small children, it would have been an excellent event, or, if I was short on time and this was going to be my safari, it would be worth it. But for me, the Sheldrick was a disappointment as was the giraffe center. The Sheldlrick does great work and I am hopeful the money we spent will go to help the elephants. But they simply brought out 10 elephants at a time and kept them in a roped area. There was little opportunity to get close to the babies. In fact, there was too large or a crowd while we were there and I had to step back on to a step to allow someone else in to see the animals. Very few people get to touch them and if you do, it is simply a quick touch. You do not fee them or spend any significant time with them. At best, I would say each group of 10 elephants is brought out for about 10-15 minutes.

The giraffe center was nothing more than getting a cup of food, walking up some stairs, feeding the giraffes who immediately come over to eat, and then leave. If I had never fed a giraffe, I suppose it would be better or if I had smaller children. Otherwise, I could do without.

The real treat was the safari through the Nairobi Park. I suggest going early from your hotel if your driver will go. George (our driver) picked us up at 6 am. Traffic is very bad in Nairobi and if you don't go early, you miss out on quite a lot. We were able to see rhinos, hippos, giraffes, zebras, a lion try to attack a buffalo and a buffalo stampede at the lion, a crocodile, and several other birds and animals. We also were blessed with seeing a family of lions with babies and get within 20 feet of them. Was amazing.

This part of the safari package was well worth it. I only wish they had a combined Nairobi Park/Village trip (and not to the plastic villages within Nairobi, but an actual village). I would do this if I had small kids or limited time as it was a great exposure to African wildlife. Also, very easily could be done if you have a long layover in Nairobi of about 10 hours or more, as the park is right within 10 minutes of the airport. I also suggest our driver George. Very knowledgeable and fun.

Hello, Thank you for your review. I do understand your concern but just to clarify the Elephant orphanage is a home of the adopted Elephants without parents and they are taken care of at the orphanage before they will be sent off to the wild. So whenever you visit you give a donation so that it may help to finance the needs of them. Yes the 1 hours that you visit is the feeding hour that is why the bring 10 of them per session. The time may feel short because they can't feed more that the period the have set. Am glad yo liked the visit to Nairobi National park and your guide Mr. George was excellent. Thank you for your recommendation we look forward to having you again in future to explore other parks.

I had my tour of nairobi national park, elephant and giraffe sanctuaries. I was picked up punctually by shadrack at 630am. We were the 1st in I believe which gave us an advantage. Shadrack made sure I saw lions after a kill, white rhinos, ostrichs making love. Lol. Giraffes, crocodiles, zebras and impala. Everyone else followed his direction, one cool and knowledgeable dude. Then onto elephant sanctuary where he checked me in and then giraffe feeding . We had an incredible lunch after that, best fish curry ever!! (Own cost) Choose this company for side tours in nairobi, the cost takes care of all entrances. Less headaches and request shadrack

My tour was with Black Santa. I was given the option to start my tour early to increase my chances of seeing more animals at the national park, which did not disappoint. While driving Black Santa shared information about Nairobi, the national park, the giraffe centre and the elephant orphanage. Black Santa was great at spotting animals at the national park, allowing me to get great phones. Black Santa showed me the best spot to stand at the elephant orphanage and helped me get great photos at the giraffe centre. I highly recommend this tour! Thank you for a great day.

We had booked this day tour with an early morning pickup from the airport. Our guide, Joseph was excellent and very knowledgeable. The tour itself was a wonderful start to our African safari journey. A kiss from Daisy, the feisty giraffe at the Giraffe Centre started our tour. It was wonderful to interact and feed the giraffes. Next came a visit to the Elephant Orphanage, which was so endearing and educative. Following a lunch of local cuisine, at our own cost, we headed over to Nairobi National Park. We were very amazed at the variety of wildlife we could see, in a park which was such a short distance from the city.
All in all, we did 3 day tours with Perfect Wilderness Tours and Safaris (this one, Ol Pejeta Conservancy and the day tour to Tarangire National Park from Arusha, Tanzania). All of them were extremely well organized and value for money. We will definitely be travelling back to Kenya/Tanzania and using this tour operator again.

We had the most fantastic experience visiting Nairobi National Park, the elephant orphanage and the giraffe center. It was all made possible by our amazing driver, Sammy Charo! I had an amazing time at the National park, the Giraffe center and the Elephant Orphanage. Black Santa was very knowledgeable and made me laugh throughout the tour. I saw so many animals and yes, he made sure he found the Lion!😄.
He made sure I got a good spot to see and touch the Elephants and also taught me how to hold the pellets and pat the Giraffe! I also loved that I was contacted about the choice of picking an earlier time to enable better chances of seeing the animals. A beautiful experience on my last day in Nairobi. I will surely be recommending this to my friends. Thank you Black Santa!!
N.B- Please go with binoculars if you can because some animals are not always very close to see properly.

There is a specific time you have to get there, to see the feeding of the baby to 3 year old elephants. Be late, you miss out, or get a lousy viewing spot. Be on time and it’s a wonderful experience. About 2 dozen elephants that arrive via a path, and a speaker individually introduces each elephant, tells you where they found it, how old, etc. It’s a great experience overall.
