Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Connector181296994160 contributionsVery happy with the tours we receivedThank you to our guide, Abdalla Hashem for your detailed explanations about the Valley of Kings and surrounding area. And thank you also to our driver, Abdellah mohamed, for bringing us to the various sites and offering us water.Written December 6, 2024
- Goose_PB0 contributionsLuxor adventures to add to our wonderful Egypt holiday. We docked at Luxor West Bank to see Karnak and Luxor Temple. We arrived late in the afternoon but the last temple was well lit. 2400 small ram headed sphinx’s lined the route joining the 2 temples. (You can only walk so far along the 3 mile or so pathway) Impressive statues and carvings everywhere. On our last day on the MS Salacia, we visited The East Bank with Memphis Tours. After an early breakfast on board, we said farewell to this wonderful cruise ship (oldy worldy with plenty of character) and set off to see the hot air balloons landing at the Colossi of Memnon. Super high temperatures already as we arrived at the Temple of Hatshepsut. Wow! Then onto the Valley of the Kings. Our tickets allowed access to 3 tombs. For an extra 700 EGP you could visit the tomb or Tutankhamun, only his mummy is there at the moment, all the gold coffins and masks are in the Museum in Cairo. (Being moved also to another Museum shortly) Memphis Tours arranged a hotel for our use in Luxor where we met their representative Ali who checked us in, arranged all our flight transfers etc. for our next stop - Cairo. Great service xxWritten November 14, 2024
- nataliekong1100 contributionsGreat experience and anazing guide - highly recommend! My friends and I were in Aswan, Abu Simbel and Luxor with Memphis Tours, and absolutely loved it! The sites and all the history was so fascinating, and our experience was made infinitely better by our guide Mohamed Emam - his knowledge of the Egyptian history, the way he delivered all the information (you can tell hes a true enthusiast!), his planning of our itinerary to make sure that we beat the crowds but also avoided the hottest time of the day made all the difference. We were also told by various other guides how lucky we were to have him as our guide! We highly recommend Mohamed and feel so lucky that he was our guide - do ask for him if you ever book a tour in Aswan / Luxor!Written October 23, 2024

- Donjulio72550 contributionsMemphis Tours 5 day 4 night Dahabiya Nile CruiseThis five-day four-night Dahabiya cruise from Memphis Tours from Luxor to Aswan was a perfect introduction to an amazing country. Memphis Tours arranged everything from picking us up at our hotel to dropping us off at the airport and even escorting us the to check in counter at the airport. Wow! what else can I say. Our personal tour guide Abanoub Nazmi was awesome! He was knowledgeable, punctual, funny, and made sure we had a wonderful time. Abanoub is extremely knowledgeable with the historical sites, the city and its culture and we always felt very safe around him because he knows so many people. I would highly recommend anyone traveling to Luxor/Aswan through Memphis tours and if you are blessed to have Abanoub as your tour guide you will defiantly not be disappointed. And to the staff of the Dahabiya Amoura thank you, the food your hospitality and safety was amazing. This was our trip to Egypt and would gladly recommend and use Memphis tours again. Book it! You will be very happy you did! PS.. We were there in the wintertime so please pack a heavy jacket because the nights do get cold.Written December 26, 2023
- H2669BZpetera0 contributionsAwesome experienceWe did this the day after the West Bank, both tours with Memphis and the same guide and driver. Really looked after us and tailored the tour to what we wanted. Our guide Beshoy was very experienced and knowledgable while allowing us plenty of free time to just enjoy the experience too. Door to door transport in a comfortable car felt very safe. Karnak and Luxor temples of course are a must if you are here and completely live up to expectations. A lot has been reconstructed using all the original material that was buried and done in a very sympathetic way, to show the full awe of the locations without looking like a remodel. Breathtaking really. Memphis tours as always are brilliant to use and would very much recommend them and their guidesWritten November 15, 2023
- H2669BZpetera0 contributionsMemphis tours are the go to guidesGoing to the West Bank is a must, it can get busy but that’s the same of all the locations. Having a good tour guide is essential to arrange everything making the whole journey seamless. Great communication in the lead up to confirm collection times and location, all tickets bought in advance (except for any extras that you may want, but they support buying these too), comfortable transport and provisions along the way. Lead straight to the best areas with great explanation of the history and interesting facts. I’ve used Memphis tours a number of times now and all have been a great experience.Written November 15, 2023
- Jeannie A0 contributionsEgypt is safe, and a must see.Memphis Tours really delivers. Their attention to details is unsurpassed. From the food to the accommodations everything is five star. Our tour guide Hany was so knowledgeable and kind. I toured Egypt in 2016 with Zahi Hawass, so the bar was set high, and he boy did he deliver. If you are planning to see Egypt I highly recommend Memphis Tours, but make sure and ask for Hany as your guide. You will not be disappointed.Written November 2, 2023
- Laura A0 contributionsTour Guide, Hany Refaat, saved this trip!We sailed with a group of friends from Luxor to Aswan on the M.S. Salacia. SHIP The vessel is outdated, lacking modern comfort and conveniences. The dining, spa and cabin staff were excellent. The reception staff were not personable and were lacking good communication skills. There was a good variety of options at every meal to meet the dietary preferences of our group. TOURS/ GUIDE Our tour guide, Hany Refaat, saved this trip! As an Egyptologist with a PHD he had in depth knowledge of every site we visited. He was passionate and patient teacher. We really enjoyed our time with him! Overall we had a great trip. We felt safe and found the majority of Egyptian people to be warm and welcoming.Written October 27, 2023
- emn1620 contributionsCruise from Aswan to LuxorWe really enjoyed our cruise from Aswan to Luxor. The Sonesta Moon Goddess was good however the boat itself it was a bit dated and old. The staff were great though so that made up for it. Hany Refaat was our tour guide for 4 days. It was just my husband and I, but Hany treated us just as well as a bigger group. He showed us amazing parts of temples that aren’t usually visited by the crowds, such as the first ever zoo behind Karnak Temple. He made sure that we beat the crowds as much as possible even thought it was out of his control. Hany had the most extensive knowledge about all the temples and sights, as well as about Egypt in general. I noticed people from other groups listening in while he talked as he had such a passion about the history of the temples. I cannot recommend Hany more highly, he was fantastic.Written September 18, 2023
- angiej1540 contributionsMarwa and Osha the best!We had a two day tour of Luxor with our tour guide Marwa Ali, she was amazing and so knowledgeable. We really enjoyed her company and learnt so much, the experience wouldn't have been the same without her. I cant recommend her highly enough. Our driver for the two days was Osha, he was fabulous and so kind and friendly. We want to say a huge thank you to both of them for making our stay so wonderful.Written August 18, 2023
- Aaron R0 contributionsAswan to Luxor with HanyMy wife and I traveled to Egypt for a friends wedding so we decided to make the most of our journey. We were told a Nile cruise is the best way to see and experience this beautiful country. After exploring Cairo for a few days, we booked a 4 day Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor. When we arrived we were paired with Hany. Hany was our guide for the next four days, and he was incredible. He has encyclopedic knowledge of the temples. You will learn so much with him as your guide. We recommend going from Aswan to Luxor so you can end with the most amazing sites. Valley of Kings was the most impressive site in our opinion. The ancient colored walls are a sight to behold. One aspect of traveling in Egypt is the shops and bartering. Hany helped make sure we never got taken advantage of and sent us to the vendors with the best reputation and quality goods. Egypt is a beautiful country with an vibrant and friendly culture.Written August 4, 2023
- Sudiptodey7290 contributionsWe recommend Ahmed & Memphis toursOur experience of Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan was amazing and we will recommend it to anyone who is looking for some relaxation along with the history of Egypt. Memphis did a great job in organising it and even customised the itinerary and added Abu Simbel as wanted to visit it. And, this experience was even better as we had Ahmed with us. Ahmed is a very knowledgeable guide with an amazing attitude and ethic. I don’t know the other guides, but can say undoubtedly that he is one of the best.Written July 30, 2023
- Z3714MHalisonb0 contributionsHany Refaat & Memphis Tours are great! We felt very well taken care of with Memphis Tours and especially our fabulous guide, Hany Refaat! We sailed on Mövenpick Sun-Ray 5 days/4 nights from Luxor to Aswan and it was lovely. The service was excellent and the food was good. We were concerned when our ship was switched 3 times prior to arriving in Egypt, specifically that we were going to have a lesser quality cruise, but rest assured, this is common, especially in the summer/low tourist season when renovations are performed on many of the more than 250 River Nile cruise ships. Our substitution ship was nicer than the original, because we walked through it as they were tethered together upon our departure in Luxor! The starting tours at Luxor and Karnak temples were well explained by Hany, and he expertly laid the groundwork on our Egypt education, building on each day’s briefing so that we were referencing back to previous details every day. His 20+ years of experience definitely shows, and having a PhD in Egyptology assures answers and engaging stories to every curious question. We followed those visits with interesting tours at several stops that were made more memorable with colorful commentary from Hany. He assured our connections with the great Memphis tour directors, who made certain that we had timely transfers and also additional experiences, like crushing sugar cane for fresh mango/sugar cane refreshing drinks. Highly recommend!Written July 29, 2023
- mbreaux50 contributionsBest guideHany, our guide for 4 days as we cruised down the Nile, provided excellent insight into our ability to understand the history behind the building of these amazing temples and tombs. We were able to put into a more relatable context the ways of being and doing in ancient Egypt because his delivery of so much information was simplistic and clear. The scope of all that we saw was a bit daunting- so much to see! Hany’s expertise and authoritative command of Egyptology is remarkable. But, perhaps more important for 2 ladies traveling alone was his sincerity and diligence in keeping us safe and advising us on unwritten rules, regulations and customs. He was simply delightful to be with, a very warm and kind man who deserves mountains of praise and heartfelt appreciation for a job so very well done. As guides go, he has to be considered one of the best, so please- do ask that he is assigned to your tour. You won’t regret it, I promise you. Thank you, Hany for making our journey so meaningful. We wish you only happiness and joy in your future. Be well!Written July 17, 2023

Overall an excellent experience. The staff was super attentive and helpful, the common areas of the ship were nice, food was plentiful and varied. As a solo traveller I had a smaller room which was sufficient though the bathroom was showing its age.
The WiFi was often overloaded making even simple tasks (like reading e-mail) difficult if not impossible at times. Off peak hours it was sufficient for basic needs but don't expect to be conducting video calls or uploading videos.
The land tours as part of the cruise were well organized and fun, optional activities (additional fee) such as visiting Abu Simble and a ballon ride were available (I did both and found them worthwhile).

My wife and her mother and I took a Nile cruise on the Nile from Luxor on the M/S Salasia one of the unique ships sailing on the river nile in Egypt between Luxor and Aswan. It took 5 days and 4 nights from Luxor to Aswan.
During the boat stop in Luxor, you can visit the Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple and the western mainland, including tombs and temples, the most important of which is Tutankhamun tomb.
The boat stops at the city of Edfu to visit the temple of Edfu and stops at the city of Kom Ombo to visit the temple of Kom Ombo.
During the stop in Aswan, you can visit the High Dam, the Temple of Philae and the Nubian Village
We spent 5 days, which were like the days of the Thousand and One Nights Legend. The team that works on this ship is more than wonderful and the service is beyond imagination, making you fly above the clouds.
The manager Mohamed Elkashlan leads his team with the utmost love.
The cook prepares food with a variety that is more than wonderful and very delicious. The catering team is extremely polite and dedicated to work, espesially the metrdotel Naseem and the beverage caterer Taeea.
The room service team is doing its job to the fullest. The cleanliness in the rooms is beyond excellent and in every place on the boat. Stretching on the deck, sunbathing and observing the nile river as the ship sailed was wonderful and the service on deck was superb.
On the 3rd day they prepared the Lunch on deck.
We had an open buffet in the three mails (breakfast, lunch and dinner).
I can't also forget Mr. Ahmed the front office man in the reception for his very friendly attitude.
Each room is twice the size of any other ship at the same level, and they are all suites, not ordinary rooms. There is also a royal suite four times larger than a room in another boat with a dining room, salon, bar, bathroom and a separate bedroom with bathroom.

We just recently did the Nile cruise tour with MS Salacia via our private tour package with Memphis Tours.
The MS Salacia is an old dame. A small classic river cruise that gives us vibes of the 80s, and had a small crew managing it. We felt very welcomed and well taken care of - because they were attentive to our needs as a young family with a toddler.
The staff who served and managed our F&B everyday were especially kind to our young child and also went out of their way for us when I had a slight mishap on one of the temple excursions and returned with an injured ankle.
While the cruise might not be the newer nicer ones, we were happy with our stay on the MS Salacia. Rooms were clean, pool deck was fun and we all had fun.
Our big thanks to the very kind crew for taking care of us, and Memphis Tours for arranging everything.

Staff: Tayee was the best employee on the boat, he really seemed to care about the passengers' enjoyment. Our guide Ahmed passed on a lot of knowledge and I liked our Arabic word of the day, ماشی. I don't know if it was a lack of staff in the dining room or inattentiveness but they were not prompt with drinks. My husband would be finished his meal before his wine arrived.
Food: the food onboard was good. One night had different food (kofta, dalmas etc) and there were Arabic sweets on the dessert table, but we would have liked to try more local food. Of the four hot dishes each night one Arabic dish would have been nice. While "tipping, items of a personal nature" are the only two things listed on Trip Advisor as being not included, drinks are also not included. Coffee, tea, and juice were available at breakfast and coffee and tea at the other meals, but not even soft drinks, juice, nor water were included with lunch or supper.
Rooms: rooms were renovated to make two rooms into a suite. There was lots of space to spread out. However the bathrooms are small, though some passengers liked that there were two bathrooms per suite. The boat is older, and it showed in the cracks in the bathrooms. The AC is cold, but there's two thermostats which we didn't notice until the last day because one is behind the cabin door when it's open.

We spent 4 days aboard her and loved it all. The crew is awesome. Their goal is to make the guests very comfortable and they exceed at every level. The ship may be dated but that truly adds to the charm of your voyage. It is very clean. Ignore the pictures of those complaining. It is clean. Again, it’s an older ship so there aren’t luxury showers in the cabins. The bed was very comfortable. Food was incredible. We toured Egypt for 3 weeks and the best food we’ve had was aboard the boat.
Crew really go out of their way to make you happy. We’d come back to Egypt just to sail her again.

We recently enjoyed a wonderful 4 days/3 nights river cruise aboard the M/S Salacia arranged through Memphis Tours!! We enjoyed everything about it: great staff and service, delicious meals, clean and comfortable Royal Suite (with 2 bathrooms), nice pool deck & additional upper deck, and even a spa. As mentioned by others, the boat is smaller than others on the river, but that's what we really enjoyed. It has a charm of its own. We loved the decor. Thanks for a very memorable tour!!!

I took a wonderful cruise on this boat with a group of 12 friends. Everyone was pleased with the amount of room and cleanliness of their cabin. The crew was especially friendly and helpful; and mealtimes were always an exciting treat. The chef and his team present tasty buffets with enough variety to satisfy any appetite. The boat was built in 1991, but has been exceptionally well maintained and has a classic look. The crew to passenger ratio is quite high and they are very attentive to the passenger's needs. The Nubian show was a hilarious blast! Our daily guide, Ashraf, was outstanding. He took the pulse of the group and knew exactly what to present without going overboard.

Our tour guide Khaled was amazing! He was super caring and knowledgeable! Always made sure we were having a great time! We did the Nile Cruise from Aswan to Luxor and COVID-19 precautions were taken seriously. Highly recommend to go now as the temples and sites are not their usual level of busy for this time of year. This is the only time to go with great weather and no crowds!

This cruise was amazing. I booked the royal suite and it was plenty of place for me. They cleaned the room everyday and changed sheets and towels. The room is stocked with masks and sanitizer as well as throughout the ship. Safety was #1 during the journey. The food was above excellent and the chefs would cater to you wants and needs. We also had two birthday parties and wedding engagement party. The crew sang and danced for us. Everything is included except your drinks you have on board. I would recommend this cruise and the tours to anyone.

A group of 12 of us, friend and family, spent 4 days on the boat. Despite the age of the boat that may need some update; however, it made up for its excellent service, food quality, entertainment and the spa. We had one of the best and intimate cruise experience. The staff at dining room are awesome and personal including Naiseem, Ahmed and our bartender Taysee (yes, they serve alcohol and cocktails on this boat). The chef and food are exceptional and one the best we have in all of previous cruise. Salwa at the Spa is magical and most of us visit her more than once during our trip. She took away all the ache and pain from all the walking....the best massage I ever had. 5 star. Ali, our cameraman is hilarious and full of personality. Our tour guide, Hussain, is excellent.
