We just returned from our wonderful trip to Egypt! One of those that have been on our bucket lists for a while now and it was absolutely fabulous! Safety was never an issue as the whole country is extremely dialed in and knows it is top of the mind for tourists.
This trip was like a dream come true from wandering in the ancient city of Cairo, seeing pyramids/ temples from the past , to seeing just how beautiful the Nile really is as you cruise on by.

When we got to Luxor and met our Egyptian tour expert, Amro Ghanem who was the most personable, informative and educational guide we had all week. We all felt like our experience was enriched and we were left craving more history. We left being able to identify some markings in the hieroglyphics! He took us to the spice market where he helped us barter for some of the more precious ones like saffron. We also wanted to sit in a local coffee hot spot and soak up the local flavor and observe a day in the life of an Egyptian which was rather different than sitting in your local Starbucks! There was never a question that you could throw out that Amro did not have a very educated response to, and no question was ever considered an irrelevant one...whew as we asked a ton of questions.

We would fully recommend if you are able to get Amro, your trip will be that much more rewarding.

Then there was the final leg of our adventure with Yasser. Even though every one we encountered up to this point was an A+ Yasser was able to make our final leg truly unforgettable.
He had a special twinkle and his passion was unyielding. What impressed us most with Yasser was his genuine kindness and pure heart that was so obvious in his spoken and unspoken communication. His love of his country and people was so pure and sincere. The way and mannerisms in which he spoke you could feel the passion he had for life and his fellow man. He only saw good in everything and we all have been so touched by his heart of gold. We distinctly remember him describing the Nubians as some of the most beautiful and kind people that existed . Yasser’s passion with Egyptology was also unmatched. He could talk forever about the history. We all learned so much from him and we all fell in love with this country through his eyes. Yasser spoke from the heart and he blessed us in a way that is hard to describe or explain. To Yasser: You touched each and everyone of us in a special way!! We will keep fond memories of our time with you forever in our hearts. Never change ….your soul is pure and good. Continue to bless people with all you have to offer.

We were lucky enough to travel to Egypt Dec 2019 and Jan 2020. This Memphis tour was organized and very well orchestrated. We traveled quickly and easily to every destination, safely and without waiting. The real star of the trip was our guide in Luxor, Aswan, and Abu Simbel, Sayed Selim. Sayed was incredibly knowledgeable about ancient history and gave great detail for every sight we visited. He presented information in a way that kept everyone interested, all while going back and forth between English and Arabic to accommodate everyone in our group. That was truly amazing to watch. Sayed had a great sense of humor and was masterful in creating an atmosphere of "just a group of friends traveling together." We laughed and smiled a lot. People lagged behind, he was gentle and diplomatic to keep the group together. Sayed was always thinking 5 steps ahead so we never waited. I can say that we rarely take tours but if Sayed was our guide, I think we would willingly take tour after tour.

Just back from a Memphis tours 19 day Egyptian holiday.
My wife and I started in Luxor and travelled in a mini bus with our guide Ashraf and driver Bahaa.
Ashraf is the guide you want as nothing stopped him from getting us the best imaginable tour.
Bahaa our driver navigated the roads through all of the towns and village expertly. As crazy as those roads are we made it without a scratch because of Bahaa.
Day one we started with an Egyptian breakfast roadside (very tasty) as well we had a hotel box breakfast. Our first temple was Dendara then to Abydos. We spent the night in Minya for an early morning adventure to El Amarna and Beni Hassan tombs. If you want to see Egypt you should start here. It’s a couple of long days but so worth it.
Back to Luxor to see Medinet Habu temple, Nobles and Workers tombs, spectacular reliefs another great outing.
Balloon ride in Luxor valley at day break, we looked down on Queen Hatshepsut funerary complex. Which we visited in the afternoon along with the valley of the Kings and Queens. Felucca and horse carriage ride in Luxor was a lot fun. With a trip to the market for tea in the evening. Said goodbye to Ashraf and started another adventure out of Luxor. Expectations where high as we had a fantastic experience so far.
4 nights cruise on M/S Salacia from Luxor to Aswan with stops at Edfu and Kom Ombo. Boat was dated is an understatement but it was clean and comfy.
Aswan sites and a 3 day stay at the Mövenpick Aswan resort on Elephantine island. Very good accommodation with a balcony view of the first cataract of the Nile.
Next onto the M/S Prince Abbas and a Lake Nasser Cruise 4 nights. This is the best boat working on the lake by far. Very enjoyable. Visited Kalabsha, Wadi El Seboua Amada temples on our way to Abu Simbel. By far the pinnacle of the tour.
Ahmed from Memphis tours put this all together after we gave him our wish list.
He and his crew in the field did a fantastic job and we can’t say enough about it. They were all very professional and thorough. If more than 5 stars is available they deserve it.

Took a nine-day trip booked with Memphis that started in Cairo and ended with a cruise down the Nile and Abu Simbel. The trip was a once in a lifetime trip with my son and went off without any issues. Our guide for the Nile cruise and Abu Simbel was Abdo Esmael. He spoke perfect English and was extremely knowledgeable about all the sites we visited along the way. He was more like traveling with a close friend from the region rather than a hired guide. He helped us every step of the way and gave us a memory that will last forever. Thank You again my friend.

It's important to have a good guide when doing the historic Luxor and the scenic Aswan. We were ably led by Khaled Mohasab, who articulates English clearly and was flexible to accommodate one member from our group who had walking difficulties. What's more , Khaled was able to explain to us the historical significance of the area and the meaning of different wall inscriptions at the Edfu, Kom Ombo Temples, Valley of the Kings so that we had a memorable visit in Aswan and Luxor . (Our first guide was grumpy, and we couldn't hear his narratives , necessitating a request for change ). He was also tasked to lead a group of 20people till our group members complained , requesting to be split to 2 groups.

As a child, I wished to visit the great Temple at Abu Simbel. This September I fulfilled my dream on a fantastic one day trip Beginning in the early morning from my Hotel, the Old Cataract in Aswan (highly recommended). My Memphis Tours guide Waleed organized the trip and and we were off. A box breakfast was provided and a few hours later by road, we were there. Waleed, a an expert Egyptologist, guided me through the site and detailed it’s ancient history and recent past. Following Abu Simbel, we return to Aswan and Waleed ( a native of Aswan) showed me the best shops to find the best Egyptian cotton fabrics in all of Aswan. Thanks Waleed and Memphis tours for a wonderful trip.

My friend and I just returned from a Memphis Tours two weeks in Egypt and Jordan and I must sing the praises of one of our local guides. All of the guides were excellent but Abdo was truly top tier. Funny and engaging, informed and informative, Abdo made the Aswan/Luxor/Abu Simbel and Nile Cruise portion of our trip truly memorable. Yalla habibi, Abdo!!

Just came back from 5 days in Cairo/Nile cruise. As a place to visit fantastic. But we had a couple of specific disappointments/concerns with Memphis Tours team and organization.

The first was somewhat comic, but was really a safety issue. Our tour guide had gotten off early in the day to take a three ladies on a private tour. The plan being he would rejoin us in Luxor for our group tour. There were delays at the docks, so for speed the ship docked early and people would be bused to Luxor. There was no coordination between the other Memhis reps to organize a bus for our group. when the boat docked at this earlier spot, were told there'll be a bus. Then we walked away from the boat, only to be told by one Memphis guide - 'sorry you cant come on our bus, there'll be another'. There was clearly space on that bus. So we were left standing on our own on the road side. Then another bus did come, but then a second Memphis guide, said we could come with his group. So once again, left on the road side somewhere along the Nile. At this point we actually ran back to boat, but it had already pulled away. So much shouting and waving, it came back for us. So somewhat comic, but really a safety issue. Not sure what we would have done if the boat had been beyond shouting distance.

The second incident was more unpleasant. We were initially assigned to a very large group - approx. 30 people, our tour leader was Mohammed Sultan. Before setting out for another tour we went to where the tour guides usually assembled on the ship (the lounge area) and gathered their groups together before disembarking. We didn't see our guide or group. But nonetheless followed the mass of people getting off. We did spot a few from our group as the mass of people walked to temple. When we got to the temple, we took Mohammed to one side and told him were disappointed that he hadn't waited for us on the dock as if he did have a briefing session, we weren't at it. There was no, I am sorry about that. Instead he challenged what my wife and I had said, by asking the broader group to tell us that there had been a meeting. Obviously, very uncomfortable to have a tour leader trying to rally the rest of the group to 'put us in our place'. So very very unpleasant and bizarre behavior from a tour guide.
Otherwise, Memphis did what was expected. Our tour guide, Ramy in Cairo was knowledgeable and engaging.
Please don't be put of Egypt. I just personally couldnt recommend Memphis Tours given these two incidents.
