About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- MadanGopalM0 contributionsEnchanting experience.Enchanting experience in Feluka, thanks to my new found friend and driver Muhammad, who took extra care to show me around in Luxor, West and East Bank. As I was a bit tired and not keen but Muhammad insisted and arranged the most memorable concluding trip in the evening. A long ride of about an hour and half was spectacular with cool breeze and scintillating views. The day was the festival day after month long Ramadan, I can never forget the human warmth and unconditional hospitality from my friend Muhammad. It was really a God sent moment for me.Written May 14, 2023
- Helenjen0 contributionsGreat guides & drivers but organisers are dreadful…..book with a different company! We booked 2 tours in Egypt with Emo Tours via Viator, the first a day tour to Dendera and Abydos from Luxor with our Guide Amira and driver Ahmed. Both were good @ what they did and we enjoyed our tour of the temples, in particular Dendera….fantastic. Amira tried to dissuade us from continuing on to Abydos, because of the long drive and suggested they could take us to Habu on the West Bank instead….after paying all that money for the tour and being already part way there, and Habu was already on our list for the next day to the West Bank…..it was a definite No thank you. The organisers via the Viator app, insisted that it was 3 hours @ each temple even though I suggested that it was surely 3hrs for both temples!! What we did get in reality was 1 hour @ each temple….which was fine, but we got up really early for the 8am pickup to allow the time, only to find we were back @ our hotel by 4.30. Organisation 1/5 Guide & Driver 4/5 The second tour was the one that I was really excited about our day tour to Abu Simbel from Aswan….booked it through Viator 6 months out and Emo Tours admin contacted me immediately about sending Passport details for the journey (in Egypt for safety reasons you need to provide travellers details for the check points in advance….but 6 mths in advance???!! Had my doubts about sending this type of information via WhatsApp and to a tour company but they assured me that it was necessary and safe! Then several days before our tour to Abu Simbel Emo admin contacted me again and asked for passport details again. Explained I had already sent them and to check with the Emo staff member that I had sent them to. They kept harassing me via WhatsApp and saying the information was required, again, or we couldn’t do our tour. Having sent them already before and goodness knows what had happened to probably your most important ID document, I was forced to send the information again. We were appalled by what had happened…..identity fraud is a big issue and Emo Tours need to get themselves organised. I found this experience very stressful. Organisation 0/5 Now to the actual tour…..If you are an extreme extrovert…..you will love our guide Samir…..he is full of information, is extremely well prepared with maps of the temples, photos etc. However, he is very loud and likes to talk, a lot…..as an extreme introvert I found him overwhelming and just wanted some quiet time on the 3hr journey there and needed it even more on the 3hr journey back. Our driver Shico was great, but he couldn’t get a word in! The temple of Ramses was disappointing, as the lighting inside is extremely poor…..so poor it was difficult to take photos or to see how the photos had come out…..unfortunately many were blurred. Other travellers had the same problem, we were all groping about in the dark ☹ Nefertari’s temple wasn’t quite as dark, but we were left wondering why the darkness when Seti 1 tomb in the VoK was well lit as was Nefertari’s tomb in VoQ. Guide 3/5 extrovert score 5/5 Driver 4/5 Highly recommend you book these tours with a different company, wish we had!Written April 19, 2023
- missbrowneyesxx0 contributionsDatedThe Nile Cruise boat charged £90 - far too much.. You arrive at the back of Karnak where you stand for 20 minutes being told the story of the Pharohs by Dame Judy Dench. The light show is various columns being lit by lights showing various figures. You then walk for about 10 minutes to a lake where you are seated and look across the lake to some more columns being lit with figures on while various actors carry on with the story. My sister can remember watching same show over 30 years ago. In this day and age with lasers etc., this could be brought up to the 21st century. There is a lot of walking on uneven ground and steps so if you have mobility issues please take this into account, as there were quite a few people having difficulty keeping up. A few years ago I visited Philae at night with Richard Burton's voice booming across the temple, which I preferred.Written April 12, 2023
- heathermF3774VO0 contributionsFriendly accommodating serviceWe booked this for when we docked in Luxor. It was simple pick up and drop off. Guide was thorough and even waited for us to finish dinner, when we were running late.Written February 25, 2023
- th0rbj0rnn0 contributionsFabulous trip on the NileWe had a wonderful experience on the cruise up the Nile with our guide Ayad Altayeb. In addition to the included sites we booked the hot air balloon ride on the 2nd day (which I do reccomend). The trip was made all the more enjoyable by Ayad, who took great care of us. On the site visits he explained the subject in the right amount of detail for us - we had many questions :) Between site visits he was very happy to take us on quick walks in the village we were staying at, giving us an interesting view of the current rural Egypt. We also had delightful conversations with Ayad on the boat, leaving with us a very good impression of Egypt and Egyptian culture. The sites were very impressive (as expected) and the cruise itself was very nice and relaxing with great food and great staff. We highly recommend this trip to anyone interested in discovering ancient Egypt while enjoying relaxing time on the Nile.Written February 6, 2023
- Tabassum N0 contributionsGood guide. Comfortable stay. Enjoyable cruise. The pic of the ship is not the same as actual. But we were satisfied with Nile Shams. It was an old cruise but hospitality was good. The guide Ahmed Qassim of Emo tours was excellent in taking care of us and was good in his knowledge of the local area and helped us get good bargains everywhere. He accompanied us in shopping and also did arabic translations for us. We liked the tour experience at Philae temple and Nubian village the most.Written December 29, 2022
- Siobhan M0 contributionsNot as good as expectedHad a 7 night cruise on the Hapi 5 fron 6th December. Boat was very tired and needs updating. This is not 5 star as stated but more a 2 star. The bathrooms were not finished off ie grouting looked like a 2 year old had done it and there was mould everywhere. Needs more attention to proper cleaning. Diesel fumes when sunbathing on deck. 2 of the Restaurant staff were over familiar and this was quite off putting. Reception staff were arrogant. Tried to pay bill 4 times only to be told they had "already cashed up" - weren't ready - come back later - too late !! The night receptionist called AMR was the only pleasant one. All staff were male!! The food was sufficient and plenty of variety. The guide called Mohammed was excellent. As a solo traveller I felt safe with him when we went out on our tours. If you want a Nile cruise then pay the extra and choose a much better boat.Written December 28, 2022
- Y5563UWdant0 contributionsFantastic tour back in time, a great experience!I had a fantastic time on this cruise, I was a bit apprehensive having booked it online. The boat was of a good standard and the crew were friendly and provided great service. I thought the quality of the food was excellent with plenty of variety. The tours were as described in the itinerary. I had my own guide, Ahmed Kassem, for the duration of the trip who had an excellent knowledge of the sites and the history. After the tours we discussed the history and culture of Egypt on the boat, answering any questions I had. All together I thoroughly enjoyed the trip and would highly recommend it, a great experience!Written December 22, 2022

Since the 24/7 support of Gammal from operation department, the kindness from Amir in Cairo, the wisdom of my two tours guide Betro Helmry in Aswan to explain me details in Abu silmbel to Mahmlud nafeh in luxor that he been a loca and live in luxor have the experience to let me know all the historic facts;so if you are a history fan of the Egypt culture I recommend 100% this trip, very professional and you never feel alone in a foreign country I leave Egypt very satisfiedWritten September 22, 2021
- zakiyaj20170 contributionsGreat!C C Yesterday We had the pleasure of touring with Slawa we arrived in Luxor fun filled day. She was of good humor with great vibes and made sure that we were comfortable and well taken care of from negotiating our purchases from vendors to taking us to the best shops in town, Slawa had it all covered. She was knowledgeable about each of the sites offering in-depth insight on the pyramids and the many temple architectural structures in Luxor. She was able to answer my questions and made it an enjoyable learning experience overall. If you are hesitant on this tour don’t wait just buy and ask for Slawa she will make sure you feel at homeWritten June 25, 2021
- E2033OAadamd0 contributionsRecommended for any first timers to Egypt! This was money very well spent. Our Tour Guide Ashraf was very knowledgeable in every aspect and the driver was also fantastic. We spent the day going to the temples followed by lunch at a local restaurant that we would never have tried if we didn't go through Emo. We also stopped at an impressive spice shop that is much cheaper and fresher than anything we can get back home. We are very glad we chose to go with Emo Tours instead of trying to do this on our own. Would definitely use again for future sightseeing.Written June 1, 2021
- david_gr870 contributionsIncredible experienceI had 2 incredible days! First day was with Ahmed Omar who is just really kind and incredibly knowledgable about the temples in the Aswan area. The hotel Tolip in Aswan where you stay for the night is great. I even got a free upgrade to a room with spectacular Nile views. On the second day is was time for Abu Simbel. One of the great sights in Egypt in my opinion. My guide for this day was Irini who was again very knowledgeable and just the sweetest person. All the cars they use are brand spanking new so if you are on a private trip, you will also enjoy a lot of great comfort. Also the drivers are great and very attentive. Use Emo Tours. They have made my Egypt experience one to not forget :).Written March 31, 2021

We paid for a premium service. The guide was least interested in providing us with the service. She would utter a few sentences regarding the place and would give us "free time". Basically, we were on our own for the whole tour. This was supposed to be a guided tour, not a taxi service

We took this tour with Samir as our guide. It was our third day in Luxor with him and he was superb as always. He was helpful when we had questions about where to buy items that we wanted and wonderful about letting us know all the information we needed to and answering any questions that we had. When you go to the valley of the queens we thought it was well worth it for the extra ticket to go see Nefertari‘s tomb. The colors were beautiful and and we really enjoyed seeing it. The snippets of every day life visible in the artisans tombs were fascinating. We left straight from this tour to be dropped off at the airport to fly back to Cairo and it was a wonderful visit.

I believe this is worth doing. The tombs are different to what we see in the valley of the kings which is nice to experience. Our guide Shereen was excellent once again and driver Boji was excellent. The knowledge is really helpful and Shereen is very honest.

Had an excellent time on this tour. A/C, snacks, and water were provided for whereas with other tour companies, they claim to offer it but never do. The driver and guide were very polite and respectful. Salwa was amazing and took her time explaining the vibrant images in the Habu Temple as well as the workers' and nobles' tombs. I appreciated the back story and thorough descriptions she gave which allowed me to fully appreciate all the history of these fascinating sites. With other tour companies I used the previous days, they gave me a 5 minute description of the site and then left me to wander, but I didn't understand what I was looking at, and I felt like those other guides didn't care. But Salwa was very passionate, informative, and engaging which made it a worthwhile experience. I couldn't get over how well preserved the images were with such beautiful colors and detail. The temple and tombs are definitely a must-see! The stories they tell are very fascinating. I also like that the company is flexible and allows you to tailor the tour to fit your interests. Would really recommend Emo Tours and Salwa. Thanks for a fantastic time!

I was so happy to find this tour, as my Nile cruise didn't include a visit to Valley of the Queens or Medinet Habu. Despite not being on most major itineraries, these sites are a must-see. The colors of Medinet Habu are astounding and there were few other tourists. I also highly recommend buying the extra ticket to see the tomb of Nefertari in the Valley of the Queens. Emo doesn't make it clear quite how expensive it is - it is 1,200 EP per person cash only - so we were lucky to have googled it beforehand and had enough cash. Despite loving the tour, we did have a few issues. Our guide was very knowledgeable, but some things she said conflicted with what we had heard from other guides. Also, the guide and driver were 15 minutes late because they went to the wrong hotel. Not too big of a deal, but I tried to get in contact with Emo and the phone number they provided did not work. I also googled the number but it was the same one that did not work. Be aware that you may not be able to get in contact with them if there is a problem. The biggest issue we had was at Valley of the Artisans, where I had to leave my new, very expensive, camera outside while I went in the tomb. I asked the guide to watch the camera, but when I came out she was standing in front of the ledge where the camera sat with her back turned to the camera and chatting with one of the guards. It would have been very easy for someone to come up behind her and take the camera. She then proceeded to walk away from the camera to show me the entrance to another tomb around the corner. This made me extremely uncomfortable and I requested that she go back to watch the camera. She got defensive, and I spent the rest of my visit worrying about the camera. Had the Emo phone number worked and had my guide taken my fears about my camera a bit more seriously, it would have been an amazing tour.

horrible people who works in temple of hatshepsut! there was a worker who driven us like we are homeless people and told us we were not allowed to stay in the parking and commercial street ( even our car is there) because we didn't buy the ticket (which is not really true just because we didn't want to go to temple and we chose just bought one ticket for one of us to visit the temple and rest of us waiting in parking ) he was sooooo aggressive!!! unbelievable!! I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT COULD HAPPEN IN EGYPT!! are they crazy?

I did a tour with Angie she speaks very good english and has lots of knowledge - I actually learned a lot about everything we visited! She is also very honest and welcoming. I felt very safe as a solo female traveller.
The temple of Medina Habu and the tombs are amazing with beautiful colors and much less people than the main site. Highly recommend this tour!

Wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed our two trips that we took with Nermeen - both for the 'Best of the West & East Bank Luxor' trips as well as the tour to Habu and other temples!
She was quite gracious, fun to be around, knowledgeable, and overall a great person to be with for our two days of exploration in Luxor. We would highly recommend you request her upon your visit to Luxor - and definitely come to Egypt and see these ancient marvels!

I did this tour on my last day in Luxor, with Hany. Hany is a great guide, fluent in English, funny and knowledgeable. He gave me my time to take photos in the tombs and in Habu temple, he gave me a lot of information on the tombs I visited and on Habu temple.
Valley of the Queens and Valley of the Artisans seemed not to be very popular among tourists, which resulted them being less crowded than the VOK, although the tombs in these valleys are much better than some of the tombs open to public in VOK.
Habu temple is the most beautiful temple around Luxor. Better preserved than Hatshepsut (which is mostly reconstructed), with beautiful bas-reliefs, beautifully painted columns and ceilings. If you only see ONE temple in Luxor, let that be Habu and you will not regret it.
Excellent service was provided throughout the tour, from the moment of booking to the moment of drop off near Luxor temple.
I also have one suggestion: lunch should be included, considering that the price is quite high for a half day tour.
