- Curiosity512042620630 contributionsGiza, camels, markets, food & museum with Amina. We had Amina for our guide and she spoke very good English. Amina was a great guide and was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. She took loads of photos for us which we really appreciate and the driver was a quiet but nice man. Amina took us to the pyramids, gave us a lot of time to explore, followed by a camel ride which to be honest I think was over too quickly. The restaurant Amina picked off us was on a roof top looking over Cairo and you could see the pyramids and the food was very nice. We stopped at a papyrus shop where they explained the making of the ancient paper, followed by a perfume shop where they gave us a free drink with no pressure to buy. We went to the Egyptian museum which was fantastic and Amina helped us find a ATM. Before this we visited a massive bizzare market where Amina lead us through the many shops. A constructive criticism would be I wish Amina had tried harder to show us good prices from bad, at the Spinx alone we paid 200 EGP for two bottles of water we later saw this was massively overpriced so I wish Amina had looked after us more in that regard, however she did help us once in the bizarre as the day went on so that redeemed it. Thank you to Amina for a wonderful day.Written October 8, 2024

- Leonna120 contributionsAwesome experience!I can't describe how much we enjoyed our day! We loved every piece of it, started by pickup at our hotel then to pyramids complex. There we had plenty of time to explore as much as we needed, from start to finish our guide Samaa was absolutely perfect! Very knowledgable and she has her degree with tourism, very kind and nice and she took some perfect pictures for us. We got the water, and lunch that was delitious and a with a lot of food that they served us. We proceeded to the Egyptian museum where our guide explained to us most important pieces. After, we went to bazaar, we wanted to shop some souvenirs and she helped us to find what we had in mind. With that our day ended and we were dropped of in our hotel. I would highly recommend, we felt safe all the time, learnt a lot and had fun! Thank you Samaa and Hassan!Written October 6, 2024

- Aijtakahashi0 contributionsIf you can request Nour Zika as your guide, please do. 20 yrs experience and professor of Egyptology! My dad is a tour guide is the USA so I know what effort goes into being an excellent guide, and Nour Zaki was the absolute BEST! So effortless and efficient, it shows that he’s been seasoned in the business for 20 years. If you can request for him on this tour, DO IT. He is also a professor in Egyptology at Cairo University, who studied hieroglyphics for his PhD, so his knowledge shows. First off, he was already at my hotel 30 mins prior to pickup (love when a guide actually gets to location on time). Very effective communication on WhatsApp from the beginning. Then we made our way to the 3 pyramids and he helped guide us so we could avoid the crowds. Just an FYI, the passageway into the middle of the pyramid is very claustrophobic, steep — trail running shoes recommended and pants—there was a girl wearing a tight/short almost clubbing-like dress and she was struggling. Afterwards we did our short camel ride which was surprisingly fun (Nour made sure to talk to the people and told us what is recommended to tip, so we didn’t do any negotiating for tips — thank goodness). Then we got some education on essential oils and papyrus — both government owned places so they don’t push you to buy anything while they did give us free hibiscus/lemonade/coffee drinks on the house for Egyptian hospitality. We had lunch at a nice place that is a wedding venue— so expect the quality to be the quality of food you get at wedding venues. We then visited the bazaar during their prayer time (so it was absolutely empty) and hurried out before prayer ended to miss the crowds. Then lastly went to the Egyptian museum where Nour explained to us the most interesting history in a concise and educational manner. He made it exceptionally fun. Also, Imad as driver was excellent too. Imad has a class A license so he knows how to drive!! Excellent driving. We felt incredibly safe. It was an excellent trip and we will recommend Nour for our friends again and again. Thank you! Also, we dropped out stuffed animal we take everywhere (since we can’t take our dog abroad) and we dropped it by the sphinx and Nour got it back for us immediately. We were so thankful!!Written October 4, 2024
- Sharon K0 contributionsCairo from HurghadaI booked for 4 of us to Cairo we were picked up from our hotel at 4:15, then collected 3 more French speaking tourists from another hotel Dropped at the airport When I booked this trip they provided immediate confirmation of the booking Requested our hotel details and passport information to book the flights. I choose flying as I did not want to spend hours on a coach We flew with EGYPTAIR We got free packet of salted pretzels and water on the plane which took approx 1hr On disembarking we found our driver waiting for us all outside He took us first to The Great Muesuem of Cairo Explained the various treasures It was slightly disappointing as they were packing it up to move everything to the New Muesum by the pyramids Please note the current museum has NO AIRCON so it’s bloody hot Then we had ‘free’ time to explore ourselves We also had time for a refreshing drink in the cafe before getting on the mini bus again to the Pyramids They advised us to get the horse and cart or camel rides through them as sometimes there were issues with the freelance people around the pyramid We stopped at a papyrus shop Very hard sell and too expensive so we bought nothing but they explain how the Egyptians used papyrus to make paper to write or draw on All an all to was v interesting We declined the horse and camel rides and walked around the pyramids Getting loads of pictures It is extremely hot and lots of people were in t-shirts and shorts You will need a hat Plus good shoes for walking As you do a lot of walking We spent hours at the pyramids Saw The Sphinx at a distance Then back on the coach to the River Nile to see the sunset This was super relaxing and well worth the xtra €10 It’s better to say your from the US and get US dollars before you travel as it works out cheaper than Euro or Sterling And you can only get out Egyptian money from the ATM Then we were taken to the airport Boarded the plane again to Hurghada then meet at the airport to be dropped back at our hotels Overall a very smooth process The hard sell kinda ruined it for us all Plus you must batter for everything they expect itWritten October 3, 2024
