- O643XUcindyc00Magical 2 days in LuxorWe spent 2 days travelling with Marwa to Luxor, as part of a 4 day Aswan & Luxor trip. Marwa organised the private driver, the itinerary, and tickets. At Luxor we visited Hapshetsut temple, Valley of the Kings, Luxor temple and Karnak. As with our trip with her to Aswan (see my other review), she managed the timing of the temples and sites well. She knew that we like to take photos, and ensured that we were there before massive crowds (crowds are unavoidable at Karnak and Luxor, but we still went at a quieter time!). If you’re okay with a few early starts, you’ll be able to enjoy some of the sites at sunrise, before anyone arrives! We had the most magical experience at Hapshetsut temple. For Valley of the Kings, she recommended the best tombs to see, including which tombs to pay extra for, that are worth it (the main ticket only allows for 3 tombs, and some tombs have special prices as extra). On our last night, we sailed on a felucca down the Nile. This was organised last minute, and the cost was super fair. We also had 2 great local dinners, which was some of the best food we had in Egypt. It wasn’t fancy, but great home cooked, traditional food that has inspired me to look into Egyptian recipes once I’m home! For us, the 2 days were a perfect length of time and not rushed. We had enough time to learn, explore, and take photos. They are full days but for not intense for independent travellers.
- O643XUcindyc00Aswan, Abu Simbel & Nubian VillageMy husband and I spent 4 days travelling with Marwa through Aswan and Luxor. For 2 days we travelled to Abu Simbel, Philae temple, then onwards to Kom Ombo and Edfu (both halfway between Aswan and Luxor). The experience was incredible. Marwa helped us to organise flights, recommended hotel options to us within our budget (she never pushed us to book somewhere specific for commission), and organised for a private driver. For all the sites, trust her timing - she took us to visit the temples at the least busy time of day, which meant we were able to take amazing photos AND we could walk around and enjoy without pushing through crowds. We arrived at Abu Simbel as hordes of organised tour groups were leaving, and at one point we were one of maybe 15 people at the temple (see photos, it was so empty)!! Similarly with Kom Ombo and Edfu. If you’re willing to have a few early wake ups then you’ll have the temples to yourself. On one of the nights we took a private boat to the Nubian Village, then went for tea at a crocodile house. The experience was the perfect balance between education (I know so much more about the Egyptian pharaonic dynasties, ancient architecture, religion and belief systems), and site seeing for photos that will last a lifetime. I really appreciated how honestly and authentically she runs her business. She worked to our budget, and adapted to what we wanted from the experience. We never did anything we didn’t want to do, nor were we pushed to go shopping. One more thing - we were trying to be very careful with what we ate, and only ate at restaurants Marwa recommended, and didn’t get sick.
- Venture5197843710800Female Trip through history and nowadysIt was a spontanous private Tour through Egypt Museum and Manial Palace with the most popular Highlights. As a single travel female gave Marwa also good side notes to the life in Egypt in general. It was a really good time with you. Thank you a lot. 🙏🌍
- amandawL6214GI00Very knowledgeable and organized- highly recommended!Marwa is a gem! She has a degree in Egyptology and has a wealth of knowledge on the history, which you can tell she is passionate about. She helped me figure out tours I could do on my budget, and set me up with other women tour guides in Luxor and Aswan. Then I met up with her for Giza and walking tours in Cairo. She’ll paint a picture of ancient Egypt in your mind with her storytelling, and will answer all of your questions. She’s also a super inspirational woman who’s worked hard to get to where she is. She’s an awesome guide for a solo woman traveler, like myself, and would be great for all types of travelers! She’ll set you up and make sure all parts of your trip run smoothly.
- supermanhicks00Outstanding tour guide. We love Marwa! Professional and knows how to get things done. 5 Stars is not enough!Outstanding. Marwa is absolutely fantastic. She organizes everything, knows all of the tricks to making your Egypt experience phenomenal. We started with her in Cairo and spent over a week together, going as far south as Abu Simbel. She has a tremendous ability to take any topic and have an in-depth conversation about it. She picked the best restaurants and the best hotels and the best drivers, and we just had an outstanding time. I would do it all over again. It was wonderful to get to know her during our time together. She is a leader and really knows how to make your experience top-notch. I gave her the type of hotels that we liked, and she booked our hotels for us and booked our flights, it was very minimal effort required on my part to make an amazing unforgettable trip happen. We also did a Nile river cruise and she selected a fantastic ship for that, which was a three night sailing from Aswan to Luxor. While we were in Luxor, she organized a hot air balloon ride for us that took us over the valley of the kings, and I highly recommend the balloon ride. Not only did we feel safe the entire time, we had an unforgettable experience that my kids and my wife and I will treasure for a lifetime. Marwa took all of the great and amazing things about Egypt and enhanced them.
- 634devonc00An experience we'll never forget w/ Marwa Tours!I wish there was more than just a 5 star rating because Marwa is the absolute best! My wife and I were very nervous about our visit to Egypt and Marwa was recommended to us from one of our friends that hired Marwa for their visit. Our friends spoke very highly of Marwa and their experience with her so I immediately reached out to her and she was very responsive and accommodating to all of our request. Before we arrived in Egypt, Marwa made sure to schedule a meet up with us after we settled in to our room and she showed us around the neighborhood and made us feel extremely comfortable. That's Marwa's superpower, she's great with making you feel at home and taken care of. We did not have to worry about anything for the remainder of our time in Egypt. We provided Marwa with our itinerary and she made everything happen and even threw in an additional trip to Saqqara. Marwa made sure we had the best drivers to take us to and from our destinations and she made sure to take us to quality restaurants and places to buy souvenirs so we would not waste our money or get taken advantage of as tourists. Marwa is also a highly skilled and knowledgeable Egyptologist and provided us with so much history about the sites we visited. We had such a fantastic time and experience with Marwa as our guide and I cannot thank her enough for making our first visit to Egypt such an amazing experience. If you're looking for a guide while visiting Egypt and Marwa is avaiable, I highly recommend hiring her. My wife and I do not consider Marwa as just a guide we hired, we gained a new friend spending time with her. She's just fantastic! We miss her and look forward to our next visit so we can work with her again!
- BBODuffy00Discovering Saqqara and Memphis with brilliant Egyptologist MarwaIf you want insight into Cairo's rich history and culture, look no further than Marwa. We had the pleasure of having her guide us around Saqqara and Memphis, and it was an experience we will cherish. Marwa's expertise is truly remarkable. As a certified guide and Egyptologist, she possesses an in-depth knowledge of the country's history and culture that is second to none. She brought the ancient sites to life with her stories and explanations, and we left feeling like we had gained a deeper understanding of Egypt's fascinating past and cultural present. She also shared her personal experiences with us, giving us insight into what life is like for her as a small business owner in Egypt. Her passion for her work and expertise was evident throughout the tour. Five stars all around!
- oduffyd00Tailored experience, deep insightsI am evangelising to friends to go to Egypt and take a tour with Marwa because (a) it was excellent, (b) I can't imagine people at all like me having anywhere near as good a time in Egypt either any other way. We loaded Marwa up with a lot of context beforehand and she configured a lovely experience for us that she adapted on the fly. We both had somewhat different tastes in this travel, with one of us a history nut not into photos and the other more into modern society and taking lots of recordings, but Marwa juggled those fairly diverging tastes at all times with some finesse. Be warned that Marwa is so *extremely* knowledgeable that if you. We felt safe and looked after at all times, with a fair price set up front and none of the pitfalls that are all too common with other guides. Marwa didn't take us anywhere for a kickback or her own purposes, like some guides try to get kickbacks from funneling tours into specific shops, but only what was going to be right for us. At our request she even led us in an impromptu pursuit of takeaway koshari. A delightful experience, would do so again in a heartbeat.
- sophiegB5266ZD005 day trip of CiroAmazing private tour for 5 days in Cairo. Can't recommend Marwa highly enough. She guided my son and me round some popular and lesser known sights with great knowledge and pitched it just right for a 15 year old to keep him engaged. Whether you are a female travelling alone or a family, Marwa will ensure you have the trip of a lifetime.
- love2goIdaho00Especially for female solo travelersSpent 3 full days in Cairo with Marwa - she was knowledgeable and very flexible with meeting my needs. Definitely will use her again when back in Egypt
- john_kim_london00Personalized special experience in CairoMarwa is an excellent tour guide. She goes out of her way to make the experience special. She has built close relationships all over the city which allows you to skip ahead of big tours. We avoided crowds and big lines during a busy time of year. I'd highly recommend booking Marwa for a personalized experience you will never forget.
- YishuP00Great experienceBooked a 2-day trip with Marwa. From airport pick up to visit Cairo and pyramid tours, everything was perfect! It was a great experience with marwa.
- Linda K00Absolutely Perfect with Marwa ToursI escorted a group of 7 ladies and I found Marwa's contact in an article about women entrepreneurs around the world. She was the first woman Egyptologist at the Egyptian museum. She is an excellent guide and her English is perfect. She organized our week-long trip in Cairo and kept it flexible in case the GEM museum opened but she advised closer to departure King TUt's mask has not moved. The GEM will not open during our dates so she filled in tours and activities. She organized a modern vehicle with the challenges of whether our luggage would fit and a fantastic driver. Driving is not an easy task in Cairo but we all felt safe with our driver and the meeting at the airport was very smooth. She is not a big company but a private tour guide but very capable in organization and keeping in touch. Her recommendations for our late lunch/dinner places were spot on and fun. The entire group enjoyed having her as a guide and a friend. We had their services every day all day. Marwa is incredibly knowledgeable and we also loved talking to her about general life for woman past and present. She was also helpful with our shopping at our request. I will not hesitate to hire her for my future client trips.
- catalinam8100Amazing 10-day experience in EgyptMarwa is hands down the best guide you could ever wish for in Egypt. She has profound, state-of-the-art knowledge about ancient Egyptian history and interpretation, that I doubt you'll ever manage to find with other tour operators. Well before my arrival, she helped me organize and customize a 10 day trip across Egypt as a solo female traveler. She was always available on WhatsApp to support and assist me throughout as needed. She kindly travelled with me to Luxor, and fixed another guide for me in Aswan and Cairo. Sherien, my guide for Cairo was amazing and such a sweetheart! All the cars and drivers she works with are also excellent. In short, if you want your stay in Egypt to be memorable and insightful while supporting a strong woman entrepreneur, look no further!!
- Willyaugustus00Private tourHad a private tour with Marwa trough Cairo. I like this very much. She was able to estimate what type of person I am and what I wanted to do and see. It was just right. I like her very much. Had a great time.

AWESOME day in Cairo. Marwa knows everything to see. I would not want anyone else to show me around such a historic city. She showed us the pyramids, walked us around the Egyptian museum (so cool seeing King Tutankhamen's sarcophagus) and took us to an authentic papyrus shop as an added bonus. I felt very comfortable with her as a guide, and I think it would be foolish to attempt to see Cairo without her.

My fiancé and I did the first floor of the Egyptian museum without a guide and it was a rather confusing and frustrating experience. We ended up leaving to go outside to see if one of the guides who had touted earlier were still available, and we happened to see Marwa who didn’t approach us but was wearing a badge. We got sooooo lucky! She agreed to take us on and gave us the most informative tour ever of the second floor! I was sad when the museum closed and we had to leave (we were the last!) Marwa is one of those guides who really doesn’t care about money, she really just wants to educate and share her love of Egyptian culture. Highly recommend! Thank you again Marwa for saving our day!

If you are traveling to Egypt and you are interested in learning about the country’s rich ancient history, rather than walking past it’s sites, Marwa is the best possible person to do this with!
Her knowledge as an Egyptologist is incredible and she will take you to sites that other tours won’t. Off the beaten path, which in the end will be the most memorable ones.
Her personality is amazing too, so apart from the educational part of the trip she is great to be around and will make you feel safe and comfortable.
Marwa was with us in Cairo for two days and then in Luxor for three, having arranged all the details, drivers, museum, temple and tomb tickets in a seamless manner and made the whole trip of us am unforgettable experience.
We were also very happy to support and independent, hard working woman in Egypt who always works with a smile on her face.
Would highly recommend her to any group or single travelers!

We were referred to Marwa and are so fortunate we were able to secure her services! Marwa is fantastic. Her knowledge of Egyptian culture and history and Egyptology are well-communicated in her excellent English and German. She made our two days with her in Cairo contextual and meaningful. Her ability to discern your group’s interests and customize the tour was so appreciated. And just talking with Marwa was interesting. Whether we discussed daily life in ancient Egypt or modern Egyptian cultural dilemmas, the time flew by and we learned so much.
We were not only guided through all the sites and museums, but she also had great meal suggestions and a very comfortable van with great air conditioning for the notoriously dense Cairo traffic.
You cannot do better than to secure Marwa’s services for your custom Cairo or Egypt tour.

Marwa is amazing - don’t think twice before booking with her. We were in Cairo only for 3-4 days and she made sure we got the most of it. Marwa was insightful, flexible and just great to sit down with a coffee and chat. My husband and I feel so lucky to have experienced Cairo with Marwa.
A special shout out to Mohammad who drove us around the chaotic streets of Cairo!

Review for Giza & Cairo tour with Marwa Tours
My husband and I took a tour with Marwa over several days to visit Saqqara, Giza and museums/sites in Cairo.
During my planning, I wasn’t sure where to start with finding a tour guide with the right experience. Google gave me a lot of group tour options, and many other egyptologists only had Facebook pages. Marwa’s website, contact channels and communication were professional which gave me a lot of confidence.
What I loved about organising our itinerary with her, is that she is not pushy / salesy at all. There wasn’t that feeling that she was trying to add things on that only benefit her. We had a few FaceTime chats, where we talked about what I wanted from the trip, dietary requirements (in case of health issues etc), what I wanted to spend money on and what I didn’t. She was very flexible in adding or subtracting based on what I wanted, and recommending things that suited our budget…even up to 2 weeks prior to our trip!
We had a great time with Marwa exploring Saqqara, Giza, and Cairo. I do not think we could have done this independently. There is so much driving on the crazy, super busy streets. There’s also a lot of police and security checkpoints. I would’ve felt so intimidated doing this ourselves without speaking the language…and we are mid-30s, independent travellers. Even walking around the streets of Cairo, at all times we both felt so safe - Marwa kept us away from the aggressive salesmen so we could focus on taking all the sightseeing in.
Having an Egyptologist meant that the storytelling around the pyramids, the Egyptian museum, and mosques of Cairo was so much richer! She directed us towards the best highlights, and adapted based on the questions we had.
One more thing - Marwa doesn’t rush the day. She’s not just pointing at things and moving on. She gets into the historical, religious and cultural context which is so important to truly understanding the ancient Egyptians and how that shapes society even today.

My husband and I spent 4 days touring in and around Cairo with Marwa, and we are so grateful for the experiences she gave us. Experiencing Egypt with Marwa, you’ll get to take advantage of Marwa’s excellent connections in the tourism community. All the uncertainties that can come with traveling to an unfamiliar place is much lessened when traveling with an experienced, professional guide like Marwa. Marwa is an amazing guide, and she receives our highest recommendation for your trip to Egypt. Long story short: hire her! You will not be disappointed.
Read a brief summary of each of our awesome days below. Thank you for all the memories, Marwa!
Giza, Saqqara, Dashur
We traveled with Marwa to see the pyramids and temples from the Old Kingdom in Saqqara, Dashur, and Giza. Marwa was the perfect guide for this adventure.
At our first stop in Saqqara, Marwa showed us the step pyramid built and told us about the architectural feats of Imhotep. She also recommended our trip down into King Unas’s tomb, which was famously inscribed with spells for the king's afterlife. We really enjoyed this part of the tour, and Marwa helped us understand the differences between Old and New Kingdom art.
Next, we visited the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid at Dahshur. We didn’t know much at all about these sites, so we are really grateful that Marwa led us to explore them. Climbing inside the Bent Pyramid was one of the highlights of our entire trip to Egypt. Definitely a must-do! We can see why this is one of Marwa’s favorite sites.
Our next stop was the Giza Pyramid Complex. Marwa took us to great spots to get photos and facilitated a camel ride with a provider she knows and trusts. Because Marwa had already facilitated such great experiences at Dahshur and Saqqara, we didn’t feel the pressure to fight the crowds to get into the Great Pyramid at Giza.
Marwa took us to a Papyrus Institute, where we were able to get some amazing souvenirs without intense pressure to buy.
National Museum, Coptic Cairo, Citadel of Saladin, Ibn Tulun Mosque
We began our second day in Cairo with Marwa at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilizationn. Marwa led us through the museum containing artifacts dating from the protodynastic Naqada civilization to the New Kingdom, Greek and Roman empires to Islamic Egypt. Beneath, in a large hall reminiscent of a tomb, we viewed the mummies of 22 Egyptian kings including Ramses the Great and several others whose tombs or temples we visited. It was amazing!
After the Museum, Marwa took us to visit the Hanging Church in Coptic Cairo. Marwa is very knowledgeable about the Coptics, and we really enjoyed this glimpse into history and culture.
Next, we visited the Citadel of Salah ad-Din (Saladin) and the Mosque of Muhammed Ali built atop. Marwa taught us about the significance of the Citadel, built high on a hill above Cairo. In the mosque, Marwa pointed out and explained the elements of the mosque that we would continue to see in other mosques throughout our tour. We enjoyed the amazing view from the Citadel, the impressive architecture of the mosque, and experiencing an important piece of Cairo’s history.
Finally, we visited the Mosque of Ibn Tulun, the oldest mosque to survive in its original form in all of Egypt. Completed in 879, it has a single minaret that we were able to climb to get an outstanding view of the mosque and the city.
At the end of our full day of touring, Marwa brought us to a really delicious, unique restaurant in downtown Cairo that is really popular with the locals. Like us, Marwa is a foodie. You will always enjoy great meals when Marwa is your guide.
This day of touring was fantastic - mummies, Coptics, Ottomans, and the oldest mosque in Egypt all rolled into one day. Marwa’s efficiency and extensive Cairo knowledge make it easy to make the most of your time in the city.
Egyptian Museum Tour
Today, we visited the fascinating Egyptian Museum with Marwa. Almost nothing is labeled, and a guide like Marwa is absolutely needed if you want to make sense of anything. Marwa knows this museum like the back of her hand and can adjust the tour perfectly to your level of interest in various kings/periods/items. She also gave us time to explore on our own after the tour, which was great. We had a truly awesome time visiting the Egyptian Museum with Marwa!
After we spent most of the day at the museum, we walked around downtown on Talaat Harb. Marwa knew a great local spot to eat delicious koshary. It was a perfect day in Cairo, thanks to Marwa.
Al Muizz Street and Khan Al Khalili (Islamic Cairo)
On our last day in Egypt Marwa led us on an excellent tour of Islamic Cairo. Before our tour started for the day, Marwa arranged for a COVID tester to meet us at our hotel - an extremely easy and convenient way to meet our U.S. re-entry requirements. Marwa really helps you take care of all the little details.
Marwa led us along the winding al-Muizz Street within the old walled city of Cairo founded by the Fatimid Dynasty in the 10th century. We visited many amazing, historic sites including Bab al-Futuh, Al Hakim Mosque, the Qalawun Complex, a hammam, a 17th century home, and other mosques. Marwa really allowed our interests to guide the tour and answered all of our in depth questions. We were enchanted by the amazing architecture of these sites and also by the general thriving energy of al-Muizz street.
Marwa was able to guide us to some awesome souvenirs in Khan al-Khalili bazaar. If you prefer not to haggle with the shopkeepers, Marwa knows of fixed-price stalls for easy shopping. After Khan al-Khalili, we made a special request to visit the Tentmakers Bazaar near Bab Zuweila. We had heard about the bazaar when researching Cairo, and Marwa introduced us to an amazing craftsman from whom we bought some really beautiful pieces. We will always cherish our souvenirs from this trip, in part because of Marwa’s wealth of knowledge.
To round out our last night in Egypt, Marwa took us to a lovely restaurant in the Heliopolis area. During our delicious meal, we reminisced on our amazing 7 days touring with Marwa.

We toured Saqqara, traveling back in time to imagine the burial of the God-Kings known as Pharaohs in timelessly carved and documented tombs. We learned of the master engineer Imhotep at the Step-Pyramid. We marveled at the impossibility of the Great Pyramids, the majesty of the Sphinx and ended the day with Camel rides that put the perfect touch on a perfect day. An experience of a lifetime that we will never forget.
It goes without saying that the greatest wonders on the earth, are just that - wonders. But, if I am to be perfectly honest, the best part of our tour was Marwa herself.
Cairo is one of the most populated cities on the planet. Logistics are EVERYTHING in a city like this - if your trip is to be enjoyable.
Marwa meticulously planned every aspect of our experience. Nothing was left to chance. From picking us up at the airport to arranging transportation. She even planned flexibility into the tour to make sure that we experienced those things that we were excited about.
Marwa is respected by the locals - a necessary commodity. Her planning, kindness, diligence, passion for, and knowledge of, the richness of the history of Egypt made this a memorable trip that we will cherish.
Thank you, Marwa. We look forward to seeing more of Egypt with you as our guide.
